ADULT URBAN FANTASY/PARANORMAL - FEVER SERIES by KAREN MARIE MONING - SPOTLIGHT SATURDAY # 13 - DELL BOOKS, DELACORTE

SPOTLIGHT SATURDAY # 13

KAREN MARIE MONING

FEVER SERIES

Who hasn't heard of the Fever series?

Who hasn't heard of Jericho Barrons?

If the answer is yes, (* gasp *  shock horror ) you need to be reading this posting, then hit your library up or your Kindle.

They are all adult reads.

I was introduced to the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning by a friend and author, Lisa Sanchez back in 2010. I started reading in September 2010. I had the first three books ready to go, one after the other I read them like a bullet. I read the 4th one on Kindle as it was such a long wait to get the paperback. Sometimes with this series the publisher releases the hardback first, then like four months later you can get the paperback.

For those of you who haven't started, or have not finished this series, you really do need to. I have put more readers than I can count, onto this series around the world. I love to preach about it.

It is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G! Oh the discussions that were flying about cyberspace before Shadowfever was released. I absolutely adore this series and my mixed lot of covers I have. I have some paperback and some hard back.

I love this cover gif for Shadowfever.

There are couple different sets of covers to this series, I just showed you the ones above. It is a highly popular urban fantasy/paranormal series. I really am a bit lost these days what is the difference between these two genres. I get Twilight was pure paranormal romance with Eddy being a vampire, but these days I do find it hard to separate these two genres sometimes.

Dani O'Malley the Mega , went and got herself a spin off series and it is brilliant. Iced is available and Burned is coming January 2015. It's been a long wait, but it will be worth it.

I adored what KMM did with Dani in her spinoff book, Iced. She keeps her fourteen years old with Ryodan sitting back and waiting. I will admit my review for Iced took me four days to get right. I was consumed with this book. You can't jump to this spinoff series, you need to read Fever series first.

My review, KMM actually posted it on her facebook page at the time. I have received over 3700 views of it.

Iced review HERE

There is a most brilliant smexi scene that KMM popped as a separate read on her web page  for the Fever series. Once you have read the first five books, read it, it will actually make you think of Jericho a little differently.

I will say no more. Goodreads JZB Sex Scene. You can read it online , I think over at Karen Marie Moning's web page. I think that is where I read it at the time. Not sure if it is still about, this scene. Holy mac and cheese it was worth a read, though.

You can catch KMM putting up lots of teasers and bits and pieces from all her books on her facebook page. I often lurk and stalk her page.

Jericho Barrons is a most brilliant male lead, then you have V'Lane who is... well, I can't say. This series is a most amazing page turner.

Just think if you haven't started it, you can binge to your hearts content.

I love all the characters they are so well written and the plot is thick and rich.

This is quite a good fan made trailer. It showcases Mac and Barrons, and V'Lane.

I can not explain how much I recommend the Fever series and spinoff series. KMM is brilliant at deception with her writing. I really enjoyed Darkfever # 1, but I think she got better and better as she wrote the series. She has the best visuals as you read. I saw all the books like movies playing out on the streets of Dublin.

Pay attention to all the detail, it ALWAYS means something. That is my tip.

ADULT URBAN FANTASY - NIGHT HUNTRESS SERIES by JEANIENE FROST - SPOTLIGHT SATURDAY # 12 - AVON BOOKS

SPOTLIGHT SATURDAY # 12

JEANIENE FROST

NIGHT HUNTRESS SERIES

Who hasn't heard of the Night Huntress series?

Who hasn't heard of Bones?

If the answer is yes, you need to take the walk of shame.

It's lucky I do this posting on a Saturday, so I can enlighten you.

Bones and Cat

This is some of the sexiest fan artwork I have seen around for Cat and Bones. Lexie Bennett has it up on her Deviant Art page.

I absolutely adore this series. The Night Huntress has sadly come to an end with it's final book, Up From The Grave. I shall miss these two characters and the awesome sub characters.

Those that know this series, know what I'm talking about when I say , Bones owns his name. He is a dead sexy, brilliant male lead.

He really is something special.

Cat, is the lucky woman who nabbed him. I think this series really took off for me from book # 2, One Foot In The Grave. It has that famous chapter 32.

O.M.G!

Rawrrrrr!!!

I started reading this series in September 2011. Three years later I'm still as addicted as I was back then. Now I have Vlad's spinoff to keep me warm.

This was taken from my review for
Halfway To The Grave.

Catherine aka Cat, half human, half vampire. Blame her father who raped her mother while he was a new vampire and still had some giggle juice left in his loins... 5 months later out pops Cat.

Now Cat is 22 yrs old and she has spent the past 6 years slaying vampires, using herself as bait , a total of 16 vampires she has notched up. Slaying vampires keeps her mum happy as mum has a rather large chip on her shoulder when it comes to vampires. Mum needs a bit of a wake up call, in my opinion.

Enter Bones...the British ex pick pocket, beggar, ex whore, now vampire bounty hunter, who lives in a cave and is over 200 years old.

Now, I didn’t watch a lot of Buffy , but the bit I did see , I can see where Bones visually has a bit of a Spike thing going on. Bones having got his fingers caught thieving in his early twenty’s was sent to Australia to a penal colony in 1790. He eventually gets bitten by his fellow penal colony mate, Ian, who is now his master. Twenty years later he manages to get himself back to England, having picked up a couple mates from the penal colony along the way who are now vamps as eternal friends.

Bones has great dialogue/banter with Cat. I love the way he calls her ‘Kitten’. He teachers her who is boss, but she doesn’t go down without a fight.

Halfway to the Grave was a nice easy read that I really enjoyed, a fun romp. I do love me a bit of smexi , for book #1, it was reasonably quick Cat’s relationship, considering the number of books in the series, but then I haven’t read past book #1 so things could get hairy.

There was a fave scene in 'Bite' nightclub, Ralphie and Martin had helped Cat along and it turned into a rather smexi dance.

So, that was some of my first impression of Night Huntress series. Each book for me got better and better.

This was taken from my review for
 One Foot In The Grave.

Where to start with this installment in the series.

I want to go straight to chapter 32...* fans oneself ... and then fans oneself again ... and throws a bucket of ice cold water over my head *, but I will get to that shortly. Well, I might just give you these quotes.

"You’d better out perform any service you gave to her or anyone else, because if I don’t wake up tomorrow red in the face from embarrassment at what you did to me. I’ll be disappointed.”

“...I promise you this...” His voice deepened. “You’ll be scandalized in the morning when you can think again.”

Half Way to the Grave, book # 1 was a fun read and I hoped the following books in the series would get better and better. I liked Cat’s character, but could see that she was still getting her footing in book 1.

Bones was visually too much like Spike from Buffy, BUT!! then we get to book # 2.

Jeaniene wisely gave Bones a makeover, taking that Spike visual away, which I really liked. I wanted Bones to stand out more, get his own identity.

The time lapse between book 1 and book 2 is 4 years. Jeaniene gave Cat and Bones space. Cat has become this FBI paranormal agent who has a team of great guys. Tate, Juan ( Bless Juan and the things he says), Cooper, and Dave. After the Dear John letter, she got on with her life and kept those she loves safe. Sure she sacrificed a lot, but she did what she felt was right.

Don has been keeping things from Cat and she isn’t happy, now Cat is keeping things from Don.

When Bones comes back into Cat’s life he comes back in Bones style. I really love Bones now. I thought he was a bit of a lad in Half Way to the Grave, but in this book you see a much deeper Bones.

Boy, did they get better!

This was taken from my review for
 At Grave's End.

Well didn’t Jeaniene Frost let it all fly in this installment in the Night Huntress series.

Yehhaaaaa!!!

At Grave’s End brings the smexi, not as hot to trot as One Foot In The Grave, Chapter 32!! But, seriously, how is that ever going to be topped?

Bones, Cat and her team are working hard to get rid of one bad vampire, at a time. Cat is using herself as bait, disguising herself, she is getting a reputation as the ‘Red Reaper’ and being recognized too easily, which is turning dangerous. Time to find a new piece of bait to help take down these bad guys. But can this bait be trusted?

A very funny moment, I totally felt Bones’s joy, ha!! It involves, Justina.

Oh , Tate and Cat... on the job, of course, but ... OH MY. The things one must do when undercover .

Mencheres is an interesting Master Vampire. I really like him, but even the best of them let a woman rule their emotions and the line between right and wrong blurs. Mencheres doesn’t appear scary the way Cat talks to him, but I don’t think I would attempt to think or talk to him the way she does.

I love Spade/Charles, there is just something so loyal about him.

OH MY... one assignment at Marquis Bar, I won’t say what type of bar, but it is one of my fave scenes. I’ll give a hint it has to do with their clothes.

Hehe.

...and then Vlad enters the story.

I have myself a lady boner for Bones. He simply rocks my Kazbah with his personality and down right smexi attitude.

This was taken from my review for Destined For An Early Grave.

Another, most awesome installment from Jeaniene Frost’s , ‘Night Huntress’ series.

Oh the quotes that I can’t put up. Hehe!

Ms. Frost certainly had me feeling a tad upset whilst reading this book with Bones getting so upset with his Kitten. Be still my heart. I was looking over Cat’s shoulder when she was looking at the Satellite footage and I was holding my breath, inwardly crying, ‘noooOOoo’.

There was a bit of corker biffo going on between Cat and Bones and the verbals... I thought it was very clever of Jeaniene to show us a deeper side to Bones and to show Cat that she needed to wake up to a few things. It made for a real page turner this book.

Gregor, the Dream Snatcher in a way gave Bones a run for his money because Cat has a running list longer than me of all Bones’s conquests and this tipped the scales a bit to show that Bones really had a deep fear of losing Cat. Even though she didn’t remember Gregor and her past with him, no fault of her own * gives Mencheres a dirty look * , she did have a past.

Their passion for each other and their fear of losing each other, made for some fiery Cat and Bones scenes.

Bones has such an incredible fear of his wife being taken away from him due to Vampire Law, first dibs and all.

There is action, loads of jealousy, biffo, some attempted dream snatching, ex wife and a wife ( depends on who you are speaking to), some hot smexi ( like duh!) , ghouls, Vlad needing a bit of a platonic snuggle ( awwww), tempers flare, rescue attempts that aren’t really needed, a past memory erased, trust issues, may the best man win issues, Juan is still Juan. Tate thinks all his Christmas' have come at once.

Justina is still ... well Justina.

As the book blurb states, it is intense and emotional, but it’s also that wonderful rollercoaster ride you take with Cat and Bones like no other Urban Fantasy couple I have read.

Bones is just ... just ... one of a kind.

This is now where I interrupt transmission and we head off and SHOULD read Denise and Spades book - First Drop of Crimson and THEN read Mencheres and Kira book - Eternal Kiss of  Darkness.

Now , I did not and kept on my merry way reading Night Huntress # 5 and got me some SPOILERS!! :p  Dang! I did not know that!!! That was when I realized I should have read these two books before # 5. It's just my tip for y'all.

I have let enough time go by , I shall go back and read these two books. If you haven't read this series, read # 1 to # 4 and then these two Night Huntress World books and then get back onto # 5 and so forth.

You can find all my Night Huntress reviews including any novella's I've read HERE. I still have a few novella's to read.

I highly recommend this urban fantasy series. Bones is one hell of a character and Ian will have you laughing at his snark. Filled with vamps, ghouls, villains, kickass characters and smexi that made my eyes boggle.

A series truly not to be missed.

YA PARANORMAL ROMANCE - STRANGE ANGELS by LILI ST. CROW - SPOTLIGHT SATURDAY # 11 - RAZOR BILL - PENGUIN

SPOTLIGHT SATURDAY # 11

LILI ST. CROW

STRANGE ANGELS SERIES

I really LOVED this YA paranormal series.
Started reading it March 2011.

First!!
This trailer is pretty wicked. Have a watch of it.

I've taken this bit below from my review of Strange Angels.
# 1 in the Strange Angels series.

Lili St. Crow has written a wonderfully original and exciting series that runs at a great pace...she simply makes me want to read more and more.

Dru Anderson does it very tough in these books , she is a survivor. At 16 she thinks nothing of ½ and ½ Coke and Jim Beam to calm her nerves waiting for her dad to make it home. She tastes salt and wax oranges in her mouth when something bad is about to happen. Gran’s white owl makes appearances when it seems she needs help or guidance most.

I love the way Lili St. Crow keeps feeding us new characters and storyline keeps opening up. It doesn’t stay in the one place very long.

In book 1, ‘Strange Angels’, Christophe, although his character doesn’t comes into the book until quite far in, you know he will be special to Dru.

I understood the title of this book as Graves and Christophe were Dru’s angels in their own way, even her father and Gran were guiding Dru .

CHARACTERS:

Dru Anderson – 16 year old daughter of Dwight. Raised to know her weapons and ammo, that there are bad things in this world that need killing and safety is number 1. There are no white picket fences in her life, she is a survivor. School isn’t a high priority when you know about the ‘Real World’.

Graves – ½ Asian Goth kid with dyed black hair. He has his own secrets, hardship from an early age . Graves is Dru’s lifebuoy and I think she is his. He is a great listener and a survivor who doesn’t skip school, he is a good student. I love Graves’s catch phrase , ‘first ones free, kid”.

Christophe Reynard – Kouros Djamphir, older than he will admit to but looks seventeen. He smells like apple pie to Dru. Can he be trusted?

Sergej – bad psycho villain who is on a mission to seek and destroy.

I've taken the next part from my Betrayals review.

Christophe is gorgeous in this book with all his smexi language he uses on Dru. He is mysterious, mocking, puzzling and throw in a little knight in shining armour. I love how he calls her ‘little bird’. The boathouse scene was a fave scene of mine and the tub scene with Graves. I was like...love triangle coming our way..oh the decisions to be made. Even I am having trouble deciding who is on my T-shirt. I think it’s Christophe, but Lili keeps writing Graves better and better.

Lili has the story continually moving in this series. She likes to drop bomb shells on the reader and she drops a good one in this book. Dru is always running or on the move, and this book is no exception. When will it be safe for her to live and not have to look over her shoulder?  I have read ‘Jealousy’ and life gets even more dangerous for Dru and Graves. I would suggest if you haven’t read this series to have the books all ready to read one after the other. The story only gets better.

Christophe’s words translated to English...roughly!!!!

moj maly ptaszku - my little bird

moj ptaszku - my bird

moja ksiezniczko - my princess

Ksiezniczka - Princess

malutka - little girl; little one

moj boze - my God

dziekuje - thank you

kochana - beloved; (my) love

milna - a very grown up/seductive way of saying 'sweetie'

skowroneczko moja - my pretty; my beauty

His fingers came down, wrapped around my wrist. The knife lifted, and he held it with the point just over the left side of his chest. “There. There’s the spot. Between those two ribs and twist, if you can. Don’t hesitate, Dru. If you honestly think I’m a danger to you, push the knife in. I’ll help.”

This was taken from my Jealousy review.

This series just keeps getting written better and better. Lili St. Crow does not shy away from making her characters work hard to survive what is thrown at them.

A quite funny shopping spree had me laughing I must Google, Midol, I think I know what it is? ( girlie products???) . Graves and Dru go through some more of those awkward, I like you , do you like me, moments. Sometimes I want to grab Graves by the scruff of his neck and give him a gentle shake . I know he takes his friendship with Dru very seriously and wouldn’t want to jeopardise it.

Christophe and Dru...WOW!! I wonder how that turn of events will pan out. I am beginning to have a line up of suspects in my mind of who is doing some tattling and wanting Dru sacrificed.

If Sergej wants you dead....well nothing is going to stop him.

About now I feel like rubbing my hands together and doing an evil laugh .... ”mwah..ha..ha..haaaaaa”

These are just some teasers from my reviews to get you on board if you haven't already jumped on the Strange Angels train. I could see this series as movies, Lili really gives her characters a hard time and throws a lot at them at the same time incorporating that great YA smexi with Christophe and Graves.

Just writing up this posting is making me want to find the time to reread this series.

RACHEL VINCENT - SHIFTERS SERIES - ADULT URBAN FANTASY - SPOTLIGHT SATURDAY # 10 - MIRA

SPOTLIGHT SATURDAY # 10

RACHEL VINCENT

SHIFTERS SERIES

GOODREADS

Hell. Yeah!

Loved this adult urban fantasy series.

Faythe is a shifter, a were-cat. Her father wants her to take over as Alpha. She doesn't want this responsibility. Let the danger and shenanigans, begin.

I started reading this series in November 2011. I got addicted real quick.

I wrote a couple poem reviews for Stray - Shifters # 1 and Rogue - Shifters # 2.

* goes cross eyed *

This is a highly popular series and sometimes everything has already been said in the last 20,000 reviews.

Heheee! It's what happens when you start a series later than the other gazillion readers.

Every now and then a poem hits my head and I have to write it instead of a normal style review. Trust me, I know no rules in the poem world, I just write what hits my head, so I'm no doubt breaking a few rules, but , eh.

Faythe has been left free,
A tabby amongst the boys is a rarity,
Her brothers are watching,
Her father’s ever present spies.

Faythe wants just to learn and discover life,
Settling down becoming a housewife ,
Is just not her style,
Meanwhile rare tabbys are kidnapped and dying.

An Alpha is what Greg wants Faythe to be,
He is grooming her to take over,
She will no longer be free,
An Alpha equals a Pride full of responsibility.

Marc is her match,
But Jace wants some of that,
Faythe is not his to touch,
Marc will show Jace how much.

Rachel Vincent wrote a great tale,
A bad ass book of 618 pages,
I want to know more,
This party has only just got started.

Marc and Jace. Rachel sure had me tangled up inside who I wanted Faythe to end up with. By the time I read the last book, Alpha , I certainly had been put through the ringer with my emotions with these two lads.

Each book got better and better , until I was hungering for Alpha, even though I was sad it was the last.

I still wish for more, especially a spinoff of one of the characters, just to make my heart feel better.

Heheee!

This is part of what I had to say in my last review for Alpha.

The thing with the Shifter series is Rachel really has you in a bit of a mess after each book finishes. She really brings her characters to life, they appear to be standing before you and so real you could touch them. You ‘feel’ like you are hurting as bad as Faythe. I felt quite connected to Faythe.

My reviews can be found HERE.

For all things Rachel Vincent , check out her web page HERE

I met Rachel when she came to Australia in 2013

The Shifter series is a really cool urban fantasy series not to be missed, I highly recommend it.

GOODREADS

I started reading Kate Daniels series in August 2013. I had originally bought the first four books from the Book Depository, couple years earlier, but with blogging, it can take me a while to get around to some book series.

Then it came time to start reading the series, knowing I could have a good binge without having to wait for too many to be released.

The pseudonym Ilona Andrews is made up of  the husband and wife writing team , Ilona and Gordon.

I really enjoy this urban fantasy series, it is rich in all things urban fantasy...errr... except, don't expect this adult urban fantasy to come with too much of the * waggles eyebrows *  smexi.

They simply brush over it.

I'm used to it now. I think I will fall over backwards if they actually give me a full on adult smexi scene between Kate and Curran.

Don't expect to get the Bones and Cat smexi we adore in Night Huntress series, it just ain't on the cards for this series.

But, we did get something in Magic Bleeds # 4. I took this comment from my review.

Hallelujah!

Praise The Lord!

Curran and Kate actually make it into the sack in this installment.

Now, I am not being a perv, it is just unusual for an adult urban fantasy series with a guy like Curran who is all ALPHA and a chick like Kate who is in her own right an Alpha type character and an adult series to boot, to not get a little horizontal tango time going on.

Booyah!!

But, it doesn't stop me enjoying this series. It is a story rich in characters and world building.

Kate and Curran have a slow relationship. The series really is about Kate Daniels and what shenanigans she gets up to and is a part of. Curran always makes it into the story when it counts. He's just not all that much of a main character like Bones is in Night Huntress.

Some wonderful sub characters. Derek is a fave of mine. Aunt B is a straight shooter. Andrea and Raphael are another great set of characters and Doolittle is always there for medical help.

I will admit this is a series that took me a good couple books to get into. I know it is hugely popular and I am glad I kept reading. I will admit I gave Magic Bites # 1,  3.5 stars, but each book got better and better for me. I think I explain myself in my review. I wasn't the only one who got off to a bumpy start with this series. So I think I was fair with my rating.

In saying that, I am quite addicted to the series now.

You can read all my reviews HERE just scroll down to the start.

I have read all the little novella's ( inside anthologys )  that I can get my hands on. I adored Jim and Dali's novella - Magic Dreams # 4.5. I wasn't overly fussed at the other couple I read. Jim and Dali are great characters.

I'm excited to see there is another Jim & Dali novella releasing inside the anthology Night Shift - titled Magic Steals - November 25th 2014. I really LOVED their little story in Magic Dreams which was inside the anthology - Hexed. Jim and Dali are a couple that I think need more airtime in this series, I think having these novellas is my way of getting more of them. I really do like them. Once you understand who they are, you will know why. Dali is a little different. I could quite honestly have a spin-off series with these two and I do love Dali's mamma. She is hilarious.

This fan made vid is probably the best I can find
that gives a good idea about the series.

Magic Breaks #7 is releasing 29th July 2014.
I just have to read Magic Rises.
I keep getting it from library and running out of time to read it.
I can see from Goodreads that there are at least another 3 books in the series to write.

This is an urban fantasy series I do highly recommend,
it is uber popular and gets very addictive.

Another series I keep getting from library and not enough time to crack open is their - The Edge series. It sounds great!

I'll get there :D

Pop over and check out their web page HERE it's all kinds of wonderful. I nabbed me some wallpaper.

CHLOE NEILL - CHICAGOLAND VAMPIRES - ADULT URBAN FANTASY - SPOTLIGHT SATURDAY # 8 - NAL PUBLISHING

SPOTLIGHT SATURDAY # 8

CHLOE NEILL

CHICAGOLAND VAMPIRES SERIES

I am quite addicted to the ever popular Chicagoland Vampires series by Chloe Neill.

I started reading it back in August 2011 and I eagerly await each installment as it comes down the pipeline.

Merit, Ethan and all the sub characters take me on quite a satisfying urban fantasy ride in each installment.

Ethan Sullivan is just ...Rawrrrr...rrr....prrrrr. He is a vampire and Master of Cadogan House.

Jeff is such a fun character, he is into computers and a shifter.

Gabriel Keene - Alpha - The Central North American Pack - Shifter. He is a hot guy who likes to call Merit, Kitten.

Catcher Bell is a sorcerer who has his hands full with Mallory, Merit's bff.

I really love Malik, he is this uber sexy vampire, he is quite the floating character throughout this series.

Berna! You will love this tough old broad. She is another floating character who is most hilarious. When Berna is talking, it is very hard not to put on an accent in your head.

Wikipedia has quite a nice run down of each of the characters HERE

I really do see Jill Flint as Merit and Gabriel Aubrey is so Jonah!

I even got to do a character interview with Jonah and Jeff.

Jonah - Merit - Jeff

In each installment , I can find one thing that really stands out. What I mean is Drink Deep # 5 had a scene that was pretty cool. It had Blackbird, a Beatles song in it. Another had a giant Gnome. Well, you have to read to understand.

Chloe writes such awesome sub characters that keep me entertained and the books keep getting written, which makes me uber happy.

Chloe is writing at least up to # 13, according to Goodreads.

You can find my reviews HERE just scroll down to the start.

You can find the series here on GOODREADS

Jeff got a novella - Howling For You # 8.5

If you know the Chicagoland Vampires series, then this isn't too bad a vid clip that is fan made. Maybe not who I pick for Ethan, but with limited footage this person could use to portray in their vid,  I thought it was pretty good.

I highly recommend this urban fantasy series.

KALAYNA PRICE - ALEX CRAFT SERIES - ADULT URBAN FANTASY - SPOTLIGHT SATURDAY # 7 - ROC

SPOTLIGHT SATURDAY # 7

KALAYNA PRICE

ALEX CRAFT SERIES

GOODREADS

Grave Witch # 1
Grave Dance # 2
Grave Memory # 3
Grave Visions # 4

I love me some Alex Craft and all the great sub characters. I started reading this series back mid 2011.

Alex is a great chick whose life keeps on taking turns. I enjoy her interaction with all the sub characters and the more we learn about Alex ... the more I keep reading this series.

These are parts of my review for Grave Witch # 1 in the series to give you a taste of the story.

Alex Craft is essentially a Grave Witch, hence the title of the book , some call her ‘magic eye’, she likes to think of herself as a P.I. Her business, ‘Tongues For The Dead’. She lives in The Glen or Witches Glen and her landlord and good friend Caleb, is fae. Fred, is the resident gargoyle , a 3 foot granite winged cat. Fred likes to be found in the way on the footpath, and P.C. is her roomie.

Daddy dearest has decided having a witch for a daughter isn’t in his best interests, so he had her name changed to bury her family association. A call from her sister Casey, starts Alex poking around with her good friend Detective John Matthews, where she shouldn’t , leaving her with a painful souvenir.

I love me some Falin.

Detective Falin Andrews, with a name like that , long platinum hair, I’ve read enough Urban Fantasy books to question his humanity, looking like he does. Was I right? But who cares what I think...he is gorgeous and he is all things readers look for in a lead guy , smexi, stunning, the rescuer, knows how to ...* waggles eyebrows* ...very well!! ( I wasn’t talking make a nice cuppa Java here, although he can cook) he drives a rather lovely sports car and seems to be there when Alex gets in over her head and of course ...the tension.

And some Death.

Death, Angel of Death, Soul Collector, Grim Reaper...call him what you want, but this muscled, jeans wearing hottie who pops up when he has a soul to take has started to help Alex ... possibly against the better judgement of his boss. Death is somebody I want to know more about, I am very intrigued to see where Kalayna is taking his work relationship with Alex.

There has been a looong break between # 3 Grave Memory and # 4 Grave Visions which appears to have been pushed back, again, to March 2015.

I can wait. I am patient.

I recommend this rich urban fantasy read. I am not sure how many books are in the series but it looks like at least five.

GAIL CARRIGER - SPOTLIGHT SATURDAY # 6 - ADULT STEAMPUNK ROMANCE - ORBIT

SPOTLIGHT SATURDAY # 6

GAIL CARRIGER

PARASOL PROTECTORATE SERIES

GOODREADS

Watch this vid. It really explains a lot that I haven't.

The Parasol Protectorate series is abso...lute...ly brilliant.

Victorian era , steampunk.

Funny, clever, sub characters totally rock.

Lord Maccon is growl worthy and he has some very funny moments.

Alexia Tarabotti is a brilliant female lead.

When I first started reading Soulless, I had to start again.

Why?

Gail is a very clever writer. She really puts you inside her Victorian steampunk world she has built and she has this voice on Alexia that at first I had to go back and reread the first couple chapters.

You see, I needed to slide into Alexia's head with how she talks. In the end I was walking around the house talking like Alexia.

Alexia is very proper, but also...

She is an extremely likable character that keeps you turning the pages.

Alexia really is a 3D character.

Lord Akeldama is the most hilarious character, he is a gay vampire lord who has the funniest lines. I love him so much.

This is a series you could read over and over. It is very colourful and Alexia and Conall Maccon will make you laugh at what they get up to.

Alexia is simply brilliant how she handles all the shenanigans thrown at her.

Here is a snippet from my Soulless review :

What a funny, witty tale about a half Italian spinster named Alexia Tarabotti ..... her parasol.... werewolves, vampires , steamy advances including neck nibbling.... * waggles eyebrows* . Throw in a rather flamboyant rove vampire with a fashion sense to outshine the cleverest Parisian designer, Biffy and some well built Lord Akeldama worshipping dandies, a scientist or two... a plump Queen of the Westminster Hive , a professor, a dash of steampunk and a rather embarrassing family and you have a cleverly written story.

Gail had me laughing out loud, smiling a great deal and fanning myself at the very Scottish, Lord Conall Maccon, Earl of Woolsey.

I did chuckle out loud when Lord Maccon swore, behaved in a most serious manner around Alexia and quite frankly felt he needed to sit her upon his lap on more than one occasion. HA!

The supporting characters were so much fun . Floote is a must have. I want a butler like him, he is more proficient than Alfred attending to Batman. To have a knowledgeable friend like Lord Akeldama, he was such fun to be around and Professor Lyall, Lord Maccon’s Beta was a fitting second to his Alpha....after all a Beta has to be able to be forthright and tell his Alpha when he is in need of grovelling.

Alexia Tarabotti is just one of the most intelligent, witty and brave, never dull for one moment female characters. Her banter and forwardness with Lord Maccon, only she could get away with talking to the Alpha like she did. Alexia was never one to shy away from her opinion. They are one of my favorite couplings.

I have read the first four books, but I just realized I only wrote reviews for the first three. I must go back and recap Heartless and write my review.

I liken Gail's writing to , throwing Kristen Ashley's Rock Chick - Indy Savage into a Victorian steampunk world and letting her run about with vampires, werewolves getting up to all sorts of mayhem with a Parasol for thwacking.

Both authors know how to bring so much humor and wit to their clever writing, whilst juggling a pile of sub characters that paint the pages with color.

I have yet to read Timeless the conclusion to this fantastic series. It is one of my end of series phobias I have. This year my personal challenge is to read 2 books each month that are the last books in a series to get over my list of last books I need to read.

This series is a smashing good time and I highly recommend it. I put quite a few readers onto it when I was reading it at the time and they loved it. Even one of the guy bloggers gave it a read and loved it.

Gail really has class when writing this series and her wit is outstanding.

Gail also has a YA series titled, Finishing School. I have both books to date in the series, I just need to read them.

Check out the trailer below
So cool!!

FINISHING SCHOOL

I knew at one stage she was writing another series with Alexia's daughter being the main character. I just saw the cover for book one in The Custard Protocol series titled - Prudence.

Due Release - 17th March 2015

I can't wait to read what antics Prudence gets up to.
If she is anything like her mother.
HA!!

And if she has Lord Maccon's personality... it should make for a very memorable ride.

Prudence - Blurb

From New York Times bestselling author Gail Carriger comes a new novel in the world of the Parasol Protectorate starring Prudence, the daughter of Alexia Tarabotti.

When Prudence Alessandra Maccon Akeldama (Rue to her friends) is given an unexpected dirigible, she does what any sensible female would under similar circumstances - names it the Spotted Crumpet and floats to India in pursuit of the perfect cup of tea. But India has more than just tea on offer. Rue stumbles upon a plot involving local dissidents, a kidnapped brigadier's wife, and some awfully familiar Scottish werewolves. Faced with a dire crisis and an embarrassing lack of bloomers, what else is a young lady of good breeding to do but turn metanatural and find out everyone's secrets, even thousand-year-old fuzzy ones?

Her page is always good fun.
She loves the era.
You will see what I mean when you check her page out .

Check out the images she has on there.
She adores the era she writes in.
