BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

I am pretty fearless now with what I pick up as a blogger to read and review. It wasn’t that long ago that I was a very YA reader, of an adult age.

J.R. Ward showed us more conservative readers ( muah) how to write M/M with her lads Qhuinn and Blay in Lover At Last ...and we liked it! Now if you are over on NOTR After Dark’s site reading this review or any of the other reviews on here, you know this is the place for the steamier reads to be reviewed. If you are a younger chicken , you shouldn’t be over here.

Josh and Adam are the roommates at College in this story. Adam’s got an assignment due and his computer is packing up so he hops onto Josh the Jock’s computer to submit his assignment and gets a bit more than he bargained for.

Adam is openly gay, his parents know, his friends know.

Josh isn’t openly gay, but Josh knows what he likes.

But this is not a story about Josh coming out.

This is a story about two guys who had been roommates for six months, discovering there was a bit more to each other. Going from two guys who didn’t even talk, didn’t think they had anything in common.....to!!!!!

I thought this was a well written , novella sized read. It is only 83 pages, a quick read, but it packs a punch.

This is a story with BDSM in it and I think it was a great read. You will watch Josh and Adam get braver with each other in what they want from each other and what they desire. This is very much a self discovery journey for Adam.

BOOK REVIEW - LOCKED by MAYA CROSS - THE ALPHA GROUP # 1 - NOVELLA - EROTICA

By: Maya Cross
Published By: Maya Cross
Released : Available Now
Details: Digital, 68 Pages on my ereader

RATING: 3.75 SEBASTIAN LOCK STARS!

Blurb: Goodreads

Who is Sebastian Lock?

The bar Sophia Pearce is in doesn’t look like much. The wine is bad and the decor worse. But when a sudden attack of curiosity leads her to sneak past security and into the back room, she discovers something unimaginable. The most lavish party she’s ever laid eyes on, in the most unlikely of places.

But that’s nothing compared to what comes next, to the man she meets back there. Sebastian Lock. Gorgeous, commanding, and radiating charm, he is exactly the sort of silver-tongued rake Sophia has sworn to avoid. Unfortunately, he doesn’t care much for her promises.

Every instinct tells her to run, but the chemistry between them is as inescapable as gravity. Soon, he’s opening her eyes to a whole new world of pleasures, pleasures she never thought she’d enjoy.

There’s just one problem. Sebastian is more than he seems. Between the famous company he keeps and the almost paranoid secrecy of his employers, he’s a puzzle Sophia can’t quite solve, and his insistence on keeping things casual forces her to confront the demons of her past.

Can she learn to trust again? Or will Sebastian’s privacy tear them apart?

Contains light BDSM, including spanking, restraint, and anal play

Note: This book is the first part of a trilogy that is designed to be read together, much like The Blackstone Affair. Sebastian and Sophia will get their happily ever after, but not until the last book.

Unlocked: The Alpha Group Book Three - Due June/July 2013

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

I won this novella from my girls over at Talk Supe - Lockout # 2 Review. I actually didn’t realize Maya Cross was an Australian author. I do like to promote the Aussie authors, when I can.

The novella covers are really eye catching and complimentary to each other.

I really like the catch phrase on each of the two released blurbs.

Who is Sebastian Lock?

Good question!

What I enjoyed about Maya’s story was the setting. I lived three and a half years in Sydney and I could easily picture the setting. It’s not often I can do that as a lot of books I read are set in the USA or Europe.

This is a short novella. Now for a story of this nature, I do think the books have to be longer to get into knowing the character’s, before the erotica BDSM starts. I understand this is a novella series, but I think sixty eight pages ( showing on my ereader)  is too short a novella size. It feels like it's over before it starts.

I thought Sophia was a bit silly at the start of this book. I know she had sunk a few drinks and she seemed to enjoy having a drink quite often in this novella, but she didn’t come across initially as the type of chick I would see Sebastian with, not like the Sophia on the front of the novella cover. I have read my fair share of erotica/BDSM, but in saying that Sophia grew on me. Hence why I think this was a too short novella. Sure she is fun, but I think I missed out on some depth with her.

Sebastian on the other hand, I thought Maya handled him very well considering the size of the novella. He has mystery to him as Maya hints at stuff for the reader.

What is Sebastian doing when he disappears for a few weeks?

What did that document mean that Sophia snooped at in his office?

There are several questions that add to Sebastian's character, add to the whole, who is Sebastian Lock?

I did think Sebastian should have been maybe angry finding Sophia hiding as he did have a document on his desk he may not have wanted anyone to see and she did overhear a conversation that sounded rather intriguing. He appears like a man that has a dangerous hidden life, a secretive life with all that hiring of staff for his events, and the facade of the pub.

That is how I feel from what I have read. Am I right??

He wants to keep that side of his life secretive. So why be so casual when he finds her hiding and watching?

When you are on a pub crawl with your mates, you probably will stand out like a sore thumb at one of Sebastian's events. I didn't get a descriptive of what Sophia was wearing on her pub crawl, so I can  assume pub crawl attire. Not unless I missed something? She did have on heels.

He knows the type of sex he wants. He appears very much in control of his life.

He is very much an Alpha male.

Sebastian Lock is a stunning guy who knows how to get what he wants, he brings the uber smexi and I want to know what he is hiding.

Sophia is working a job that gives her no thanks. I don’t really know an awful lot about her as a person. I know she likes to have a drink. I don’t feel like I have a connection with her at the moment.

I want Sophia to prove to me why she is worth Sebastian breaking his normal rules of exclusivity for her when he can possess any woman.

I am intrigued to read Lockout, book # 2, and see where Maya is going to take me.

Plus, Sebastian is ...well, Sebastian.

A good start to this novella series.

FAVE QUOTE:

He smiled when he noticed me, those blazing eyes caressing my body like a soft wind, sending a tingle up my spine.

"You look lovely," he said.

I gave a little spin. "Thank you. It's not Prada, but it does the job."

He laughed. "What makes you think I want Prada? You make too many assumptions, Sophia."

"So if I told you this outfit was thirty bucks at Myer, you wouldn't send me back to change?"

"No. I'd say that most girls would kill to look that good for thirty dollars."

"Well if it's value you're looking for, I might be able to get it down to twenty if you give me a few more minutes to change."

He let out a little growl. "I know I said this dinner was strictly no obligations, but if you keep giving me excuses as to why you should remove your clothes, I won't be held responsible for my actions."

Who is Sebastian Lock?

Sophia had never felt attraction like that before. Raw. Electric. Irresistible. Swept off her feet by the dashing, enigmatic billionaire Sebastian Lock, she was taken on a journey of self-discovery, taken to places she never dreamed she’d go.

But things are never as simple as they appear. Sophia’s trust is a fragile thing, and Sebastian seems insistent on testing it. He has his own demons to battle, and nobody has brought them to the fore like she has.

As their relationship deepens, and Sophia begins to break down his walls, all that greets her are more questions. Why is Sebastian fighting so hard to keep her at a distance? Who is the girl on the background of his phone? And why does the strange tattoo on his chest seem so familiar?

These puzzles plague her, but as Sebastian’s mysteries begin to unravel, she must face an entirely different truth. Staying in the dark may be painful, but finding the answers could be deadly.

BOOK REVIEW - HOSTILE TAKEOVER by JOEY W HILL - KNIGHTS OF THE BOARD ROOM # 5 - ELLORA'S CAVE

By: Joey W Hill

Published By : Ellora's Cave

Released : Available Now

Details: Digital Via Netgalley, 408 Pages

RATING: 5 BLUSH WORTHY STARS!!!

Blurb : Goodreads

Book V of the Knights of the Board Room series (can be read as standalone)

Ben is the last unattached member of the five-man executive team of K&A Associates. The other four, all Masters, have found the submissive of their dreams. That’s fine. The sharp-edged lawyer knows he’s the most hardcore of all of them, with extreme tastes as a Master he satisfies physically through experienced club submissives. He doesn’t really need anything more than that.

Marcie has loved Ben since she was sixteen. He’s never behaved as anything more than a protective big brother, a family friend. But now she’s twenty three and starting her career as a corporate investigator. She may be a blood-and-bone deep submissive, but she won’t hesitate to use her aggressive talents to prove she’s meant to be his. With a Master as tough as Ben, she’ll have to take whatever measures are needed—even if her deepest desire isn’t a hostile takeover of his heart, but an unconditional surrender to it.

Reader Advisory: Marcie’s sexual journey contains a group scene of female/female sexual exploration. The Masters also share her in a brief group scene.

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

OMG! I am going to repeat, this made Fifty Shades of Grey look like a walk in the park on a sunny afternoon with the flowers in full bloom and a girl singing a pretty song while dancing through the park.

Holy Mother of Pearl!

Now this was a challenge for me. If you thought there was BDSM in Fifty....think again.....well, there was....but.....this is more , much, much, much more. Oh and darker!!!!

OUCH!

I read this book through Netgalley. After more snooping I saw that you could read it as stand alone. I also understood the character Ben O’Callahan, was a Master Dom who was extreme.

Yowzer!!!

There are five guys and they are all Master Doms and they each have a book. Ben’s is apparently the most extreme due to his nature. I would like to read the other four books in order as you learn about Peter and Dana , she is blind and African, Lucas and Cass, Jon and Rachel, Matt and Savanah ( pregnant) .

I thought this book was written very , very well , but it took me so far out of my comfort zone. At times I was reading through my fingers. I don’t think I could read anything more than what I read in these pages. I am really glad that I have taken myself out of my comfort zone as I have read several books now that I would never have read and never given myself the opportunity to appreciate the writing skills of these ladies. Joey writes very boldly and she sure as hell frightened me with where BDSM goes. I must admit I had a wee bit of trouble getting through the last couple of chapters as it went to another level . I rate this book 5 stars as it will bring all sorts of things out. It was a challenge in parts as basically I had no idea about this life people live. In saying that I also understand better how seriously this is taken and what it means to them. It’s not for me. But that is ok. This is very consenting sex that is very extreme in my eyes and oh dear the pain of it, but who am I to judge.

Marcie is Cass’s sister and she is on a mission to be Ben’s sub. She has known Ben and the guys for a long time and Ben was like an older brother to her when she was going through her teenager years. He was there to talk to........but then Marcie grew up!

Marcie is fearless in her endeavours to be the one for Ben. The things that girl will do in this book. The things Ben and Marcie do.

Ben is breathtaking in only a way a person in this lifestyle would understand. His character has a lot of trauma in his life and it has led to what he does now. It's very hard to explain what I am trying to say as Ben shows us a dangerous side too. An out of control side. There is this caring side and this side to him that is all in the business of his lifestyle.

A very intense read for me.

This is a book that is written very intelligently and from the acknowledgments page I saw Joey had named the people who had helped her to get her facts right. It shows in the writing. To me, and I have no idea, but it felt like I had stepped into a real BDSM world. Not a half baked one. The things I read could have flayed the paint off a wall.

I can never hear Jeannie from ‘I Dreamed of Jeannie’, say ‘Yes Master ‘ again without thinking of this book.

I did really enjoy this book as the story will blow your mind, and in my case, in places frightened the pants off me. You have to remember I was very naive to all this so the impact was like a deer in headlights and then I was peeking out from under a pillow, lol!

Is this a realistic story of BDSM?  Hell, don't ask me, I've been living under a rock with this world. I enjoyed it for the fictional story telling. I would like to think that the people who participate in this world do so with mutual consent and free will. I am quite happy in my little nerd alert world.
