Synopsis

Life in Sugartown hasn’t always been easy, not for an ex-con like Elijah, and certainly not for Ana, who grew up desperate for a way out.

Meeting Elijah changed all that; Elijah changed a lot of things.

You’d think that after three years together and the worst behind them that life would be a walk in the park, but Sugartown’s sexiest couple may be about to face their biggest obstacles yet. Between failed marriage proposals, a trampy ex-lover and a tempting new biker, Sugartown is suddenly not so sweet.

They’re head-over-heels in love. It should be simple—but it rarely is.

Will they make it down the aisle to the happy ever after they deserve? Or are some relationships just destined to fail?

Intended for an 18+ audience. Contains explicit sex, violence, a crap-tonne of profanity, and naked encounters with disastrous outcomes.

Excerpt

Elijah rolls on top of me, cradling my head between his hands, his forearms pushing into the mattress. He kisses the tracks the tears make down my face. “I love you. I don’t deserve you, I never have, especially not now.”

“Don’t say that—” I interrupt, but he quietens me with the press of his lips against mine.

“I tried, baby girl. I tried to lock it all up tight, to push it down and hide it, but I can’t. I wanna be the man you deserve, but I’m not him. I’m broken. Toxic. I’ll always be shit, and there’s nothing I can do to change that.”

“Hey …” Elijah bows his head, and I place my hands on either side of his face and force his gaze up to meet mine. “You are none of those things. You’re good. You have the biggest heart out of anyone I know, and you love with every part of it. Sammy is a different kid because of you. Dad is different, Holly, Jack … I’m different. Yes, we’ve been dragged through a lot of shit, and some of that has been your fault, but you’re the one who pulls us safely through the other side. You’re the one who takes the darkness away, not the one who creates it.”

He laughs, but there is no humour in it.

“Ask me again,” I whisper, pressing light kisses to his neck.

“No.” Elijah shakes his head. “Not now.”

“Fine, then I’ll ask you.”

Details: Kindle, For Honest Review, 209 Pages

RATING: 3.75 JACKSON  & ELIJAH STARS!!

Blurb : Goodreads

The last thing Holly Harris expected was to wind up nineteen, knocked-up, and all alone. When Coop left to pursue his dreams of becoming a rock god, he left a tiny piece of him behind. Holly wishes he hadn’t. Jackson wishes he hadn’t. Jackson Rowe tried filling the void his family left by drinking, screwing around, and leaving a string of heartbroken women in his wake. Moving back to Sugartown should have been easy, but he hadn’t counted on the fact his sometimes attraction to Holly would still be alive and kicking—and he sure as hell hadn’t counted on her being pregnant with another man’s baby. They drive one another crazy, and yet they can’t stay away. When old flames resurface, and even older wounds are torn open, can two people so similar make it work? Or will their stubbornness only drive them further apart? *Content Warning. Intended for a mature 18+ audience. Contains angst, a crap-tonne of profanity, short-tempered Australian wildlife, and some very pregnant sex.

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

I wish Jerry Springer still had a show,

because I would rock the hell outta that shit.

Yes! Carmen most certainly did rock the hell outta that shit.

This installment was on Red Bull.

My stay in Sugartown was most entertaining and a little bit cray cray on all the shenanigans being thrown at the characters.

There is mayhem and drama.

An enthusiastically angst filled read.

I’m now going to give you my honest thoughts on this installment.

The first half of the book was more like I had envisioned Enjoy Your Stay would be heading going on what I knew of Jackson and Holly in Welcome To Sugartown. That spitfire banter and fun times.

Then shiz and shenanigans abounded.

Spiders, wombats, dogs, Cooper ... Chelcie...SEX!

I do want to read more from Cooper. I didn't understand his overnight love for Holly.  It felt odd, only because he arrived once he knew about the baby. I would have liked more there. I am hoping Cooper gets the last book. He seems a nice lad. He also looks rather purrtty in that banner.

Chelcie seemed ok too. I wasn't sure why she hung about for two weeks, but I did like her in the end.

I felt like I was caught in a push me-pull you, type relationship with Holly and Jackson.

Holy mother of pearl did I want to give these two some valium, or a good shake.

Not sure which.

My God. It’s like trying to pin down a puppy in a room full of bones. I think I’m getting emotional whiplash.

I wouldn’t shake a baby mamma, but dang, Holly is one high maintenance chick on hormones.

Far out!

Then there was the way they talked to each other, or thought about each other. Sometimes it was just too funny and other times...

* face plant *

One of these days, I’m going to kill Jackson Rowe. I sit and watch the cereal roll around in his mouth, and it dawns on me that he reminds me of a camel; big, stupid, but sort of fun to ride.

I felt like she was always yelling at Jackson or he was yelling at her.

“Where the fuck were you? Why didn’t you answer your phone? I thought you’d gone into labor, and the dingos had eaten your baby.”

I did laugh out loud on many occasions, but sometimes I wanted some serious talk or more endearing talk.

“You okay, Spidey?”

“You should stop calling me that, sweetheart, or I’ll web-sling your arse right into my bedroom.”

“Sp-i-de-y.” I draw out the word slowly, with a cheeky grin full of challenge. Please take me to your room, and spread your Spiderman spunk all over me, I think, and then prop my pregnant arse up against the workbench.

Jackson is twenty seven, and I love him to bits but... DUDE!!

The thing that’s really making me crazy is the thought that I love her, really fucking love her, like hearts and flowers, sing it from the mountaintop, run to the store to buy her fucking tampons kind of love. But beyond loving my cock as I pound it into her, she doesn’t feel the same way.

Now lets talk sex.

Dear lord there is some sex in this book. I love sex. I wave the flag at sex. Sex is good. But there seemed to be one use for sex in this story. I thought I understood Holly's feelings, but then I didn't really get where it was all coming from.

Maybe hormones on smack?

Lovely having Elijah and Ana popping up with little Sammy. He is such a cutie... and so is Elijah.

Bottom line, I was very entertained.

I love Carmen’s energy in her writing.

I am totally invested in Carmen as a writer and I will be back for Now Leaving Sugartown # 3.

I did indeed enjoy my stay in Sugartown.

EXCERPT

Holly

“We gonna talk about last night?”

“No. We’re not going to talk about it. We’re not going to have a repeat performance, and we’re not talking about it.”

“Okay then.” Jackson snatches up another handful of popcorn and shovels it in his mouth before chewing with it half-opened. I swear, one day I’m going to shove my fist in there, and then maybe he’ll learn to shut the hell up. “So you don’t want me to eat you out right here on the couch?”

I drop the bowl and popcorn spills out all over my lap. I close my eyes, take a deep breath, and whisper, “I hate you.”

“No you don’t. You want to, but sweetheart, you got all kinds of feelings for old Jack, and none of them are based on hatred.”

“Would you please not refer to yourself as old Jack? You sound like a paedophile.”

“Night, Hols. Old Jack’s going to take a shower before hitting the hay. I might even forget to lock the door so you don’t have to kick it down.”

“I hate you!” I scream as he saunters away chuckling.

“Sure, sweetheart, you just keep telling yourself that.”

WELCOME TO SUGARTOWN by CARMEN JENNER - ARC BOOK REVIEW - SUGARTOWN # 1 - NA CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE - SELF PUBLISHED - AUSSIE AUTHOR ROAD TRIP - DAY 1

Day 1 is still cracking along nicely and now I have my review of the awesome debut book by Carmen Jenner, Welcome To Sugartown. Elijah is rather rawrrrrr... and there is pie :)

Throw this one onto your TBR piles. I LOVED it! I highly recommend. I think the book trailer is pretty awesome too.

Welcome To Sugartown releases , 3rd November 2013.

Released : 3rd November 2013
Details: ARC digital copy, for honest review.

RATING: 5 EDIBLE ELIJAH STARS

Blurb: Goodreads

Ana Belle never wanted anything more than to hang up her apron, jump on her Vespa and ride off into the sunset, leaving Sugartown in the dust.

Elijah Cade never wanted anything more than a hot meal, a side of hot arse and a soft place to lay his head at night where he could forget about his past.

But you know what they say about wanting: you always want what you can’t have.

Nineteen year-old virgin Ana is about to discover that’s not quite true because a six foot three, hotter than hell, tattooed, Aussie sex god just rode into town. He’s had a taste of her pie and he wants more– no really, Ana bakes pies for a living, get your mind out of the gutter.

She’d be willing to hand over everything tied up in a big red bow, there’s just one problem; Elijah has secrets dirtier than last week’s underwear. Secrets that won't just break Ana’s heart, but put her life at risk, too. When those secrets come to light, their relationship is pushed to breaking point.

Add to that a psychotic nympho best friend, an overbearing father, a cuter than humanly possible kid brother, a wanton womanizing cousin, the ex from hell, and more pies than you could poke a ... err ... stick ... at.

And you thought small towns were boring.

Welcome to Sugartown.

*Content Warning. Intended for a mature 18+ audience. Contains explicit sex, oodles of profanity and a crap-tonne of AWKWARD.

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

Carmen Jenner is in da house!

Welcome To Sugartown , is Aussie author Carmen Jenner’s debut new adult contemporary romance.

Giddy Up!

The title may be sweet but the story is a fast paced, emotion filled ride set against an Australian backdrop.

It is the story about twenty three year old Elijah Cade, a gorgeous tattooed ex-con, who happens to ride an awesome motorbike, and a small town pie baking gal named Ana Belle, who is more of a Vespa girl.

Ana is nineteen years old and is stuck in Sugartown with a dragon for a step mum and a little brother that will make you laugh.

Hard.

Now, don’t even for a second think this is an uncomplicated story about boy meets girl. Oh no it is complicated and full of heart breaking moments. It has the recipe that makes for an awesome angst filled...oh, dear lord was I clutching my ereader and muttering things, read.

I even threw in a NOOooOOOooooOOoo * hands over eyes *

The first half of this book we are watching two people getting to know each other, we are drooling over Elijah, we are laughing at Sammy, and Holly the bff is being all kinds of neurotic, but loveable, and the town biatch makes herself known.

“You came strutting in here all cocky, with your dimples and your tattoos and your big brown eyes and expected us to swoon.”

“Baby girl, if that’s all it takes to make you swoon then you just wait ‘til you see what I do with my hands.”

THEN...

I don’t know what’s going through his head but his dark eyes bore into me as he gently strokes the side of my face. For a split second I think I see him grimace, like he is in pain, but it passes quickly and then his mouth is on mine and he’s kissing me deep and slow, and the fire in my belly is so distracting I can think of nothing else. After a minute Elijah pulls back and whispers, “It’s never just a kiss, Ana.”

THEN...

Shiz goes down.

Like whahhhh!!!!

Bring on the ANGST and ...!!!!!!!

AND... the skeletons that will fall out of the closet.

“This isn’t a relationship , it was a mistake.”

“Baby, this is the furthest thing from a mistake.”

I’ve played this game too many times to count. The players are different, but the rules never change. Until now. Until her. All the rules are different now, and I’d do anything not to fuck it up.

I am left curious about Elijah’s past that still has the ability to raise its ugly, deadly face. I did feel like some blanks were left there in my mind, but I was totally left satisfied with his present.

Carmen will sock it to her characters. They won’t get an easy ride. I personally think if you like Abbi Glines’s writing where she knows how to write a brilliant male lead, throw in the angst, you will like this book.

Abbi Glines gave us the Vincent Boys, Beau & Sawyer and the gorgeous Rush.

Carmen will give you Elijah Cade.

Yes, maam!

“Ah, fuck!” I rub at my chest to ease the burn in my heart. “This is bullshit, baby girl. The way I feel about you, the way you feel about me, that shit doesn’t just up and go away.”

Carmen really does write Elijah very, very well. We get to be in his head for half of this book and I loved being in his head. He has the best inner monologue when he is thinking about Ana. Guys have such a way with words when they are thinking about getting down and dirty with a woman. His emotions will spill over and I just wanted to hug the lad.

Like, come to mamma.

The truth is, without Ana I have no home.

But there were times... * raises one eyebrow *

This book has really good sub characters. Sammy the little bro absolutely steals the limelight when he opens his mouth on whatever page he pops up on. He has a lisp. HA!

He is the ultimate side kick.

“Ith OK I liketh being thuck wif you, Ana Cabana.” He beams, and it’s so hard not to pick him up and squeeze him until his adorable little guts squish out.

“Aw, thanks, brat. I liketh being thuck wif you, too.”

“Daddy, why ith Ana thucking on Elijah’s face?”

"I'm asking myself the same thing, Kid.”

Holly, Ana’s bff, is a little neurotic, but bottom line she is a keeper. She is loyal to the core and she will have your back. She brings her own blend of character that I am looking forward to reading more about.

I can see Jackson is going to be an awesome character to get inside of too.

“If she says she’s broken, you get out your fucking araldite and you glue that shit back together.”

Holly may want to stab Jackson.J

Ana’s dad Bob, grew on me. I liked watching him with Elijah. Dragon lady seemed to fade to black in the story line.

Carmen has made a spectacular entrance with her debut story. This book will not disappoint. I really was a thucker for it.

Bring on # 2, Enjoy Your Stay.
