The King of Demons and the Devil’s right hand man, Asmodeus is a dark angel born of evil and created for destruction. When his master orders him to venture into the mortal world and retrieve a female for him, he seizes the chance to leave Hell for the first time, uncaring of what the Devil has planned for her… until he sets eyes on the most beautiful woman he has ever seen—a female who awakens new feelings within his black heart, unleashing passion so intense that it controls him and desire he cannot resist.

He will not let his wretched master have her. She will belong to him.

Liora is a witch with a bad reputation and an obsession with fighting demons. A mission gone wrong sees her sent to Paris to cool off, but when a dark and deadly warrior with a gaze of golden fire lands in her life, she ends up burning hotter than Hell for the wicked angel. Nothing will stand between her and the immense, forbidding male. Not her cousin. Not Asmodeus’s sworn enemy and twin, Apollyon. And certainly not the Devil.

Caught up in a tempest of danger and soul-searing passion, can they survive against the odds and seize their forever after?

***********

Today, I’m going to share an excerpt from Her Wicked Angel, the sixth book in my Her Angel paranormal romance series, with you all. This scene takes place early in the book when Liora, our witchy heroine, has just met the dark, dangerous and deadly angel warrior, Asmodeus, and has convinced him to stick around for a while because she’s convinced there’s a sliver of good in him and she can’t deny her attraction to him. Asmodeus is waging a constant war between fulfilling his mission by taking Liora to his master, the Devil, and defying him, while at the same time trying to find his balance in the strange mortal world and around the mystifying female who has enchanted him…

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

This is my third book in this series, I had to jump from # 3 to this one due to blog tour commitment. I enjoyed Her Dark Angel # 1 and Her Fallen Angel # 2. Both novella sized, short reads. This one was a much fuller and satisfying read for me in the series. Four times longer than the first two and I could see the difference in the time spent on characters and story line. Nothing was rushed and it had depth.

I really dug Asmodeus. I felt a rainbow of emotions for him. I felt like he really did get the short end of the stick and he didn’t fully realize this until he met Liora. She is Serenity’s cousin and also a witch. Where Serenity is more good and pure, Liora has a bit of a naughtier streak to her personality. She was very well suited to Asmodeus, I thought.

Did he have no love and light in his life?

I did feel for Asmodeus when he showed that vulnerable side to himself. He can’t help how he was created and the life he was only ever shown. He was created to be cruel and heartless and to kill and torture. No form of love from his dad, so to speak. He was made to be evil.

"In Hell, there is only strength and that strength is measured by the blood we have spilled, the bones we have crushed , and the pain we have dealt and endured. It is not measured by the good we do. It is measured by what you mortals believe is bad. In Hell bad is good and I am second only the Devil."

Apollyon is a bit tough on his , let’s call him brother. His twin. Asmodeus was created from the evil from Apollyon by the Devil. I did like watching these two interact. It was almost a learning process for Apollyon, finding out maybe, just maybe , his brother had some good in him. He only saw Asmodeus as he chose to see him. He has no love or interest in his brother.

His twin had never looked at him with anything other than disgust before.

This is again, a wham bam I am in love with you read, but I did dig it. I could really see how naive this dark angel is to the mortal world and never been kissed or shown any form of endearment. Not to mention he had never had any hanky panky. You can imagine, this book does sizzle in that department. He had a V- card to cash in.

Yowzer!

Liora’s hands slipped to his shoulders and she lost herself in the kiss. It was gentle and soft, and everything she hadn’t expected. It overwhelmed her and she couldn’t help melting into it, letting him take the lead because she liked how this powerful, sexy male kissed her with tende reverence, as if he was afraid of hurting her.

As if he was worshipping her.

I really liked Asmodeus’s voice. You could tell the difference between him and Apollyon. The women really are the glue for these two angels. Serenity sets Apollyon straight and Liora will stand up for her angel. She sees the good in him . She gives him a chance.

She loves him.

I loved seeing Asmodeus put his hunting skills for food to good use for Liora. Ha! What a way to go , Asmod. He has such unique social skills. And the coffee lady, lol!

I really visually saw Asmodeus’s home , his black castle and that nice touch Felicity did with showing us what he had collected. His ability to draw. His love of his two ...errr dogs, Romulus and Remus.

I did rather enjoy being in Hell. I know, sounds funny saying that, but when you are with Asmodeus, it didn’t feel so bad. It was hot for another reason.

* wink *

I really like Erin, daughter of the Devil and Veiron a Hell’s Angel. A great match for each other.

A rather humorous scene with Asmodeus trying to show his woman that he can fish. An interesting form of bait he used.

“Should make a good meal and can I just say that your slice of smexy is as crazy as mine.”

... Apollyon muttered to Serenity. “He does not get this insane behaviour from my blood.”

Someone in Asmodeus’s past comes back to cause havoc . I felt kind of sad for Nevar and what he has been put through, but at the same time...

An ending that I found unpredictable... well, I knew he would get the girl, but ... mind you it is Asmodeus.

I repeat, Yowzer!

I shall go back and read Her Warrior Angel # 3 and Her Guardian Angel # 4 and Her Demonic Angel # 5 so I have all the pieces filled in. Amelia and Marcus have book # 4 so I want to read about them. They were in the background in the latter part of this book.

This is a series where the lads fall hard and fast in love, but I like it. They are a one woman male and when they see that female... that is it. Then they just have to figure out how all this angel stuff figures into the relationship and the drama that comes with it.

A great installment in the Her Angel series. Love comes with a pair of white wings or a pair of black wings. But always a sizzling good time. The lads do fire on all cylinders when it comes to making lurrvveee.

Her Wicked Angel - Excerpt

Asmodeus rested his elbows on the black railing behind him, tilted his head right back and stared at the colourful cloud-strewn sky, trying to figure out why he had received a hard slap as payment for protecting her from the male.

He wanted to understand this world and the protocols, and somehow find a way to learn the right reactions to situations.

He didn’t want to scare her away.

His senses shifted entirely to her, locked and focused, feeling her close beside him, her power wrapping around him like warm arms. She had felt soft and light when he had carried her, warm against his flesh. She had stared at him until he had been intensely aware of her gaze on his face.

On his lips.

He had wanted to kiss her.

He still wanted to even though she was full of light and purity, and she was so warm and friendly, filled with beautiful concern about everyone. Even strangers.

Even him.

He had never witnessed such good in anyone before.

It left him feeling there really was no good in him and made him wish more than ever that there were.

He had told her that he was evil and she had seen the darkness in him, the violence he was quick to embrace and the cruelty, but she had remained with him, asking him to take her somewhere else, somewhere quieter.

He had expected her to leave and she had wanted him to stay.

He didn’t understand her at all.

Asmodeus raised his left hand above him, stretched his fingers out with his palm facing the sky, and stared at it.

He had told her that he had no friends and she had held this hand, squeezing it against the railing and showing him compassion. Why?

There was no room for friendship in his life. It was a weakness. Good was a weakness. Affection was a sin. Compassion and care were flaws.

So why did he want to feel these things?

He didn’t. He clenched his teeth and his fingernails transformed into sharp black claws and his fangs lengthened. He had no weakness. No soft emotions to leave him open to attack. No vulnerabilities.

He felt Liora’s gaze on him and ignored her, struggling with his feelings and trying to subdue them again. He was wasting time here. He should take her down to the Devil and be done with it. All he was doing was worsening the punishment his master would deal when he returned with her, and he would return with her. The Devil would see to that.

He was weak.

Vulnerable.

Unable to fight his master’s orders.

The Devil had absolute power over him and eventually he would tire of waiting and command him to return, and Asmodeus would not be strong enough to fight that order.

“How long have you had Romulus and Remus?” Liora’s tone was soft and soothing, calming the growing tempest within him until it subsided and he forgot his fear and lowered his gaze to her.

New fear grew in its place.

He had never talked about himself to anyone before. No one had ever wanted to know about him, but she was genuinely interested and for some reason he was finding it hard to deny her. It was strange to talk to her about his life. Strange and dangerous.

It left him feeling uncertain and more on edge than the males who loitered in the square and were potentially a threat to her.

If she knew the things he had done and the person he was, she wouldn’t want to know about him anymore.

“Several centuries.” He kept his response short and before she could ask another question, he changed tactics on her. “Have you been a witch all your life?”

This was new to him too. He had never wanted to know about anyone before, but he wanted to know all about her.

She nodded, her chestnut waves bouncing against her shoulders. “Ever since I was born. I’ve lived with a coven the whole time.”

The area began to empty, the single males dwindling in number and the couples moving away into darker corners. Asmodeus tried not to look at them as they embraced or kissed.

Liora ran her fingers along the metal railing and her arm brushed his, sending a thousand volts jolting up it and through his body. His gaze whipped around to her and found her looking out at the city, not at him. He could have sworn she had been watching him a second ago.

“Are you as powerful as Serenity… or less powerful?” He couldn’t resist turning her earlier question against her, or staring at her. The streetlights illuminated her face, softening her features further. Her beauty entranced him.

She smiled, rosy lips curling slowly into it, and a light entered her eyes, a twinkle that he knew he had put there. He had never made anyone smile like that before and he found he liked it and wanted to make it happen again. He just wasn’t sure how. He had zero experience of being amusing or entertaining, unless you were the Devil. He could entertain his master no end by torturing demons for his viewing pleasure.

Asmodeus didn’t think that would entertain or amuse Liora.

“More powerful,” she echoed his earlier words and he found himself smiling at her.

Liora turned to face him, her left arm remaining leaning against the black railing, and held her right hand out in front of her.

She snapped her fingers and a glowing black rose made of light appeared in her hand.

She held it out to him and when he went to take it, she evaded his hand and brushed the soft warm petals over his bare chest. His heart thudded hard and the smile that had been working its way onto his lips dropped away. The air around him sizzled and the awareness of Liora he felt at times came back full force, flowing through him like electricity, coursing through his blood and making him hot all over.

Liora looked up at him, the action of tilting her head back causing her lips to part invitingly.

Asmodeus swallowed and fought the dark instinct to claim those lips and devour them.

Unless she wanted him to kiss her.

Was that possible? He had studied the couples in the area, and how they courted with smiles and laughter, and light touches that seem designed to arouse and excite the interest of their partner.

He wanted to kiss her.

No good would come of it though. It would only increase his desire to keep her from the Devil and fight his master’s orders, and it would only cut him when he failed and delivered her to that wretched male.

The black rose disappeared and her hand settled against his bare chest. It was shaking. She was nervous too, afraid of whatever this was that zinged between them whenever they were close.

Asmodeus raised his hand to cover hers and froze when a shiver bolted down his spine, hot and fierce, and the ground trembled.

“Conceal yourself,” he barked and she stared blankly at him. He cursed and cast a veil over her, and pushed her behind him at the same time, shielding her with his body and his black wings in case his spell failed.

A bright orange spot formed on the pale stone slabs before him and then forked outwards into a glowing fault line. The ground trembled again and the fiery line cracked open, becoming a fissure. Steam and smoke rose from it and the mortals in the area screamed and ran.

Liora shook beneath his hand that clutched her wrist but he could feel her power rising, growing in the face of her fear.

A Hell’s angel burst from the earth and beat his crimson wings.

Annelie fell for Lukas the moment he walked into her pub three years ago. He’s stunning, his vivid green eyes lending to his otherworldly beauty, but he’s seriously out of her league. ALL OF THE STORIES IN THE HER ANGEL SERIES STAND ALONE, JOINED BY CHARACTER AND WORLD ONLY, AND DO NOT NEED TO BE READ IN ORDER.

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

Taking into consideration these are very short reads, around 100 pages, give or take, not a lot of depth can come into a story line when you are writing novella sized reads.

I personally like some meat in my sanga and I think Felicity did add some meat into this installment. You can read these stand alone but I have a thing about reading books in order.

I had some concerns from Her Dark Angel # 1 answered in this installment regarding Apollyon which was nice to see.

“They do not let you go so easily. I speak from experience. It took long months to argue my contract with Heaven and even now, I am not wholly free to do as I please. It is only my contract with Serenity which keeps me on Earth.”

I also got that feel of the whole French thing that I thought was missing from # 1.

He said something in French and Serenity came out of his arms and looked at Lukas with wide hazel eyes. She spoke in French to him, rapidly enough that Annelie didn’t catch a word of it, and Lukas replied.

Fluently.

Annelie works in a bar in London. She has known Lukas 3 years. He frequents the bar for a chat with Annelie while she works. He is an angel. She does not know this until...

“I was banished here three years ago... and three weeks ago I went to appeal against my sentence and make them see the truth.”

Well, the poor lad has gone and got himself accused of a crime against humanity. He has been framed. Alcohol is a big no no in the angel community, but Lukas breaks the rule and gets sozzled. Courage comes from imbibing and he and Annelie get it on.

“I just want to be clear about one thing. I did not kiss you because of the drink.”He glanced away and then met her gaze again. “There is a reason I like to sit at the bar and talk to you, Annelie. There is a reason I kissed you.”

Humma! Humma!

“Your beauty puts angels to shame.”

What I liked about this second installment, and what I found missing from Her Dark Angel # 1 was, Felicity gave me the reader, more of a connection to her characters. I really liked Lukas from the get go and also Annelie.

I get their connection to each other is a friendship of sorts that is 3 years long. They are now taking it to first base, and second base and...

I believed their love because they had both been crushing on each other for 3 years. It wasn’t a wham bam insta lurvvvve. It was acceptable for them to be in love within the confines of one hundred pages.

She was so beautiful. He could look at her until the end of time and never tire. He watched her age these past three years and she had only grown more beautiful to him. Her soft features, large dark eyes and rosy sensual lips made her more stunning than any female he had ever seen.

I really do wish I felt this with Apollyon and Serenity in book # 1. I did see more of these two in this installment which added to getting that connection and believability of lurrrve. I dug Apollyon more hearing him talk in this book.

“Lukas is being kind to you.” Apollyon stepped up beside him, slightly taller and almost as handsome. He had an air of death and sin about him though, and she didn’t like it. She preferred the way Lukas looked. Kind and warm but definitely sensual and passionate, with a mouth made for kissing. “For some reason, Lukas isn’t fooling your eyes. He has made his wings disappear. It is difficult, painful and requires great concentration. His appearance to you is real.”

“That is all you need then. Love. Look past the wings to the man and his heart. Lukas must love you. He worries. I feel it. He worries you will leave and has brought you here so you will not. They are not as strong as they appear... men in love.”

A simple resolved outcome for Lukas that would have been nice to been really fleshed out over double the amount of pages, but Felicity is writing novella sized reads. I could really see the first two books being plumped up as the lads are great.

We get introduced to the next lad in the series, Einar, the Hunter.

“Heaven’s Court assigned you the best. Einar is their foremost hunter,” Apollyon said and Lukas could see it in the sharp way that Einar’s eyes took in everything.

I may have to skip and now go straight to book # 6 as I am on a blog tour in two days. But I will come back and read Her Warrior Angel # 3 and so on. I did notice the books get longer.

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

This was a good start to Felicity’s series . I am on the blog tour for Her Wicked Angel , Her Angel # 6, so I thought I had better read some of this series. They can be read stand alone.

Before I tell you my thoughts on this first story in the series, I want to say that these are just my one opinion. Other readers will think differently to me. I am rating my thoughts on how I felt about the book.

I am going to give it a generous 3 stars. I have my constructive thoughts on why. I can see on Goodreads others have given 4 and 5 stars and loved it. That is awesome.

Her Dark Angel is a novella sized read which I did enjoy reading but,  I felt that more could definitely have been said. I wanted characters fleshed out more. I have read novella sized reads before that have kept me very satisfied. I accept they are a shorter read, so I rate my reading experience taking this into consideration.

I enjoyed Felicity’s story about Apollyon, an angel who protected the bottomless pit in Hell, and Serenity a witch.

I don't know a great deal about Serenity's character, and I know little more about Apollyon. They are in Paris, but they could have been anywhere as I didn’t feel the French influence to give the story a more convincing location. Sure I got told about the Paris tourist spots they flew to, but even some words spoken in French would have made me connect more to their location, after all Apollyon is speaking in French to her for her to understand. I think that would have been a nice touch to remind us and French is such a sexy language.

I really like Apollyon, I love his name. I liked how he felt conscious of his beautiful wings. I loved how he let us know he loves to fly and he hadn’t got to do that much. It brought him joy. I liked his honesty about not having had a sexual relationship in waaaayyy to long. He had an openness he was willing to show in front of Serenity.

I didn’t really understand why they wham bam loved each other. I think with a story like this about angel warriors and other paranormal characters, I needed more pages filled to be totally convinced.

From the many angel reads I have read, I can’t see how Apollyon can just drop his eternity job so easily because Serenity in the end commanded him to. I'm out, next dude can take my place. I could have had that fleshed out.

The revenge/vengeance issue of an ex boyfriend was a bit wobbly in plot depth. Edward was a wanker, cheated, bit of a ladies man. Truly , he wasn’t worth it in the first place. Not when you compare him to Apollyon. Chalk and cheese.

I really would have loved some depth in the story line squeezed into this novella.

I know Apollyon’s day job, but I know nothing of Serenity other than she is a witch with great potential.

“What are you then?”

... “I told you. Apollyon, the great destroyer... angel of the Apoclaypse, responsible for raining hell down on Earth when everything comes to an end.”

That wasn’t comforting at all.

“You’re not a good angel then?”

He smiled and there was a sexy sort of darkness in his look. “I am good, if by that you mean I do not work for the Devil, but I can be very bad.”

This was a nice easy read, with all the right smexual * fans oneself * moments. Coffee had an effect on Apollyon. Heheheee!

He found a cup and poured some of the coffee into it. It was hot but it didn’t stop him. He blew on it a few times and then sipped it. The effect was instantaneous. His cock twitched and he groaned at the thought of showering with Serenity. He took a mouthful of coffee, grimaced as he swallowed down the hot liquid, and then went after her, his erection growing harder with each step.

I would have loved to have gotten to know both characters more and had a dangerous moment or two. Apart from a punch up in an exotic bar, it was pretty smooth sailing.

Nobody had to work for love, it just came.

He really had been watching her. Her own guardian angel. He had seen her pain and then he had heard her call, and he had come to her, to ease her suffering and make her feel better.

Looking forward to picking up Her Fallen Angel # 2 . Another novella sized read and seeing where Felicity’s writing takes me.
