RATING: 4.5 TOE CURLING STARS!

#WhatADick

Vaughn Asher. I’ve stalked him relentlessly. I shaped and formed my lust into the perfect dirty hashtag…day after day… weekend after weekend. He was my prince. My fairy tale. My fantasy.

I gave him the best years of my online life and what did he do for me?

Ruined my social media experience one tweet at a time. That’s what.

MovieStar @VaughnAsher

@FilthyBlueBird #Fantastic #BackToNatureFucking
#MissingSomething #You

And now #TheDickWhoIsVaughnAsher thinks he can weasel his way back into this filthy blue bird’s Twitter account? He’s wrong.

His public fantasy is about to collide… ah, fuck it. He’s hot as hell, bitches. I need more than a free sample. This time I want it all and I’ll do whatever it takes to get it.

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

What I love about this serial J.A. has put together is it is clever, fresh and intriguing... aaannnd very toe curling.

It is different to her past works, quite by deliberate design.

We are only given a small portion of the bigger picture each installment and consistently every two weeks.

Follow - 27th Agust

Like - 10th September

Block - 24th September

Status - 8th October

and so on.

I pre-order them at the low price of .99c. They don’t stay at that price forever. I am a smart purchaser. J

Vaughn shows the reader a deeper side to himself. I really appreciated finding this out early into this serial.

He cares.

He is protective and loyal.

But then his kinky side and playful side comes into the mix and it is quite the toe curler.

Grace is still keeping us in the dark about her past. She is keeping it quite locked up tight because even Vaughn can’t find anything deep on her.

With a serial, each installment is a puzzle piece being released for the bigger picture.

Once you start a serial, you really have to stay committed to finishing it off or you aren’t getting the full story.

Serials intrigue me.

I get addicted to discovering the bigger picture.

I can only write my review based on the puzzle piece I am given. It’s not like reading a full length installment in a series of books, because you are working with small portions that will eventually equal the whole story.

Grace is still showing me she won’t just bend to Vaughn’s requests, but she will be coaxed into making her own decisions which ultimately leads to some bending.

Pun intended.

I understand Vaughn more. He is a cocky lad, but he also has a deeper side that cares for those who are in his inner circle and I got a little surprise.

I liked this.

I do of course love the EOBS = End of Book Shit, that J.A. puts together for her readers to have a bit of a laugh after reading each installment.

I have naturally pre-orderd Block which releases in a couple days and am quite excited to get another puzzle piece to add to my collection, to read.

Well done, J.A.

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

I LOVE reading J.A. Huss. She just knows how to write a male character and make him sometimes a little quirky/different, a lot smexi and he always has a mouth on him. What I mean by that is they know how to talk to the reader.

We hang off their words.

You thought I meant something else, didn’t you!

Well there is that too. J

Vaughn Asher is a character who at times is indecisive, but bottom line he knows how to make a girl work for his actions. He has contracts because he is into kink. He wants to keep his image clean on the outside and full of dirty kink on the inside.

Yes, the Vaughn Asher. A Hollywood legend. He started out in a boy band 2 Far Out, then when his angelic voice changed as he hit puberty he graduated into Disney sitcoms. Most child actors would fade after that, never able to make the transition. But Vaughn Asher doubled down on the workouts-- gaining the title of Most Envied Body in Hollywood six years in a row from Buzz Hollywood Magazine-- and the preteen wannabe turned into an action-hero heartthrob overnight.

Grace Kinsella is a tweeter. She is a player with her words. She is good at what she does. She hides behind her twitter name and talks/ tweets filth to the man,
movie star Vaughn Asher, who she has been mooning, crushing over.

Yes, my name is Grace Kinsella and I’m a filthy tweeter.

I can turn a hundred and forty characters into living sex. I can string words together in a way that will make you wet your panties with lust. I can make a man blush before he even gets to the hashtag. I am famous for pithy filth.

She is brave with her filth and what she would like to do to him. Brave because he doesn’t know who she is.

But what happens when Grace comes face to face with the man she has been tweeting filthy tweets to? Her Dirty Heaven muse is thirty two years old and he wants to contract Grace.

“You are in control of yourself at all times, Grace. But just know... you will never, ever be in control of me.”

What happens when he discovers who is behind the filth?

Grace is a spit fire.

“I want to look at you to see if you’re a monster or just a kinky asshole.”

I’m not sure how I feel about her at the moment. I think it is too early for me. I need to read more installments. What I do know is I think she puts on a brave face, but her life hasn’t been easy.

Who needs reality anyway? Reality is being orphaned at thirteen. Reality is foster homes and loneliness. Reality is a risk ripe for disappointment.

I thought this was a very clever idea for a serial of novellas. Naturally the first in the series is all about getting to know the players, some teasing with erotic foreplay before we get deeper into the story of the main leads.

We are going to be fed parts in two week installments. This will keep me very entertained. I love the serial title and I love the installment titles.

Clever!

Read EOBS = End Of Book Shit, which is indeedy at the end of the book. J.A. Huss is humorous and playful with her EOBS. Worth a read.

An awesome start to this new series, I am excited I can read Like next and Block is just around the corner.

This is a SERIES. This is BOOK ONE. This is a NOVELLA.

It used to be part of the BEND Anthology.

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

By now I think everybody who frequents Novels On The Run, knows how much I lurrrvvee J.A. Huss’s writing.

I am a Hussy.

I get so excited to read one of her books, Come, is no exception.

J.A. can write novellas so , so , so well. You really do feel like you are reading a full length book.

I can guarantee you, when you pick up a J.A. Huss novella, you are always in for a ride. Money well spent. Once the ride is over, you are wanting to go again. She just has this knack for novellas.

Come, has us meeting Harper and James.

Why do you want me? I’m a kid.”

“You sure look all grown up to me.”

All is not what it seems.

Now, I can’t spoil, so I have to chat about how this novella made me feel.

I was intrigued. I got little twists. I got me some toe curling smexi.

YOWZER!!!

Harper is intriguing.

“Go away, Beautiful,” I whisper to the fading light. “You can’t see me. I’m invisible. You don’t want to know me. Because I’m no one. I’m zero.”

Seeds have been dropped for the next book, Come Back.

There is an Admiral, known as The Admiral.

James, is one of J.A.’s male characters who will blow you away. Ford and Spencer are her other couple characters that just, blew me away. She writes them so well.

James is no exception.

Mr. Beautiful is the kind of man everyone notices. Tall -- my chin only came up to his shoulders. Dark, yes. but with those brilliant green eyes, it made his brand of dark more exotic than most. And he was hard.

The book covers, since the Rook and Ronin spinoffs, have been so, eye catchingly smexi. The black and white and red, works so well.

Come was indeedy a dirty , dark and deadly read, I can’t wait to read more in this series.

When you start reading, what you will find is J.A. isn’t just going to lay it all out for you, she gives you more as you turn the pages, little twists, names, more seeds, sexual tension that oozes , demands, commands.

He growls into my neck. “Fuck, Harper. You’re driving me crazy. You gotta tell me what not to do, or I swear, I’ll do it all. I’ll just do it all.”

Who can be trusted?

Who is the target?

Who is the one holding all the cards?

I’m intrigued. This was a stimulating read for me, because I always like to theorize when I read one of J.A.’s books.

Everyone has a place. Everyone has a code. There are thousands of members all over the world. Most are innocuous. Verbs like mine. Come. Dance. Ride. Skip. They’re endless.

The higher-ups have nouns. There are hundreds of them. Bear. Desk. Claw. Grass. The names are meaningless, just a label to put you in perspective.

This novella was very clever and rich in story line.

James Fenici, I have my eye on you.

“Because you’re mine. If I’m your first I’m going to be your last. So I need you to be sure.” He watches me as I process his words.

Another engrossing, intriguing, mind stimulating read from J.A. Huss.

Booyahhh!

BLOG TOUR - REVIEW & GIVEAWAY - GUNS by J.A. HUSS - ROOK & RONIN SPINOFF - NEW ADULT CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE SUSPENSE - SCIENCE FUTURE PRESS

GUNS:The Spencer BOOK

 By JA Huss

Published March 31, 2014

Contemporary Romance, New Adult-ish, Suspense

Synopsis:

THIS IS NOT A STANDALONE BOOK - IT IS HIGHLY SUGGESTED THAT YOU READ ALL THE PREVIOUS NOVELS AND NOVELLAS BEFORE STARTING THIS BOOK

By: J.A. Huss

Details: ARC, for honest review, Kindle

RATING : 5 A.M.A.Z.I.N.G PLOT & CHARACTER STARS!
HELL. YEAH!

Blurb : Goodreads

Spencer Shrike is a man with a plan. Get in. Get out. Move on. He loves Ron the Bomb, and her safety is the only thing on his mind these days. But life is a tricky bastard, and conning criminals for the better part of ten years brings its own set of problems. Sure, Rook lied her way out of a sticky situation, covering for crimes Ronin, Ford, and Spencer committed, and getting them all off scot-free in the process.

But not everyone is buying Rook’s story, and Spencer is desperate to figure out who’s in town setting them up for a fall.

Veronica the Bombshell Vaughn has put up with Spencer Shrike’s shit for years and where has it gotten her? A big fat nowhere. No ring, no house, no kids, and no promises. In fact, Spencer is worse than ever—completely distant and moody. She’s done sitting at home, pining over a man she can’t have.

But she’s not opposed to fighting for him.

Ron the Bomb fights hard and she fights dirty, so she’s willing to do whatever it takes to get Spencer’s attention.

But now there’s another man in town with his eye on her. He’s got secrets too, but unlike Spencer, Bobby Mansi is more than willing to let Veronica in on them.

The entire Rook and Ronin series comes full circle. Every con, every lie, and every skeleton in the closet is back for one final shot at vengeance and the only way to set it right… is to get out the guns.

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

As J.A. states on her blurb, this is not stand-alone. You should read ALL the other books and novellas, to get to this point. You can’t jump to Guns. Well, you can if you want to, but you will miss all the plot that has been laid out, prior.

Everything that has happened in the Rook and Ronin trilogy and then the spinoff books has led up to Guns.

Guns!

Spencer’s book.

Spencer the killer. And the Bombshell.

His girl.

Everything you thought you knew about Spencer, is about to change.

But Spencer is a sneaky fucking prick. A lovable, adorable, sneaky fucking prick.

Everything you thought you knew about Veronica, the Bomb, is about to change.

And that’s sorta cute. Out of all of us, Veronica Vaughn -- tattoo artist, deadly shot with a .45 at forty yards, and loud-mouth e-cig smoker with big hair and bigger tits -- is the only one of us who’s squeaky clean.

I really loved Spencer in this book. He was right all along with how he played his cards. His inner monologue is so deliciously, smexi.

He revs my motor.

I shudder.

And this is when I realize. I’m caught in his fantasy.

Spencer walked into my life, tipped me upside down, and shook the love right out of me.

My love spills all over the place.

My love piles up at his feet.

Spencer and Bomb...

“You will never forget this day, Veronica Vaughn. For the rest of your life, whenever someone asks you what the best day of your life was, this will be in your top three.”

“What about the other two?” I ask.

“We haven’t made those memories yet, Bomb. But we will.”

*sigh*

A tear slips out and rolls down my cheek. His finger automatically swipes it away and then he presses his mouth into my ear and says, "Shhhh. Don’t cry, Ronnie. Just tell me what we like, so I can remember. Because I’ve lost my way, baby. I’m worried about so many things right now, I’m afraid I might’ve forgotten why I’m doing all this. Why I’m hurting you so badly. Why this Bobby guy gets to take you out when I can’t. So tell me, remind me why I’m doing this, Ronnie. Tell me what we like.”

This was a very, very cleverly written book. J.A. Huss has captured all those seeds she left in the other books and woven them into an action packed, emotion filled, exciting, moments-of-humor-where-you-snort-out-loud, read.

Not to mention. Sizzling smexi.

* hisssss *

I could see this book out of all the books as a movie, up on the big screen. I can see them all, but this one just played out so well in my mind. The characters are all so individual and colourful.

Who is really conning who?

It was such a cool read.

It was an energetic read.

Such an eye opener to all the intelligence of these lads.

The twist that I didn’t see coming.

So clever!

Ronin, the Liar. Ford, the Hacker. Spencer, the Killer.

It shouts of being on the big screen.

Everybody has a part to play.

But fuck it. We’re in. We’re in deep. And we’ve only got two choices...sink or swim.

Rook looks at Ronin. Ronin looks at me. I look at Ford.

We start swimming.

Everybody must play their part, like a pro.

They have to.

There is a lot at stake.

And if there’s one lesson the three of us have learned, the more you have the more you have to lose.

It’s scary as fuck. And isn’t it better to have nothing? Isn’t it better to have nothing to lose than to have everything and know it’s all gonna disappear?

I think it is.

The lads know what they have done in the past. The laws they have broken. They now have women and Kate in their lives, which complicates things.

A lot!

I really do love Carson. He is the accidental sidekick.

But, is he good enough to be on the team?

“Anyway.” I shake my head. “Carson, you will go home tonight and watch Fight Club, got it?

J.A. gives us a surprise with NEW GUY!

People have this thing about bikers with tattoos. Like they’re better than us. Most of the time I let it slide. I know what I am. I know what I’m capable of. I know my true value. But for some reason, I hate this guy on sight.

OO yeah, I am intrigued.

“You’ll get the answers I choose to give. But I assure you, everything I tell you will be the truth. I do not lie. I don’t believe in lies. If I can’t tell you the truth you want to hear, then I believe in silence.”

What I love is J.A. keeps dropping new characters into her reads that I want to know more about. Spend a day with them. Read a book.

Anything really. I am so hook line and sinker on her characters.

I want on their Team.

Nothing they do is by the book.

What an escapism.

Such a badass and smexi escapism for me.

I laugh, I cry, I snort when I am reading this series and its spinoffs.

The ending to this book had me snorting and kinda crying at the most awesome way J.A. finished it.

I could so buy a ticket to that book!

You have no idea!!

HA!

Hell. Yeah!

Very apt!

I gotta say this is a F*&%^&ing A.M.A.Z.I.N.G series of books. I will be truly sad when I have no more to read.

I’m just hoping that the dead guy at the end of our story isn’t one of us. Because if one of us dies, this will never end.

We might not make it that long.

This dream of mine might be over before it even starts.

Paybacks aren’t a bitch, man. Revenge, now that’s a motherfucking bitch.”

Bring on the next book, cause there is no way J.A. is leaving me hanging without more to read in this series.

Especially with Merc, new guy and La Femme Nikita...the list will no doubt go on.

Because...I did notice some more seeds dropped.

* CoughMerccough *

I freakin' can't recommend this series of books enough. They simply take me on such a wild escape that you kinda want to be a part of, in real life. Each book grows more and more in story and intrigue and excitement.

I think the best thing J.A. did was writing Spencer and Ford. They have this way of stealing the limelight from each other, back and forth in the last few books.

I love Ronin, but Ford and Spencer...WOW!

BLOG TOUR - TAUT by J.A. HUSS - ROOK AND RONIN SPINOFF - NEW ADULTISH / EROTIC CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE - SCIENCE FUTURE PRESS

I absolutely LOVE Rook and Ronin Trilogy and now we have the spin-offs. Ford's, and soon coming Spencer's spin-off. Now, it is true you don't have to read Rook & Ronin trilogy first, but I recommend it as you meet both Spencer and Ford in those books and they truly are not to be missed. Hence , why , there are now spin-offs. That is just my personal opinion. Ford is just something to read, he really is.

The readers LOVE Spencer and Ford. I LOVE Spencer & Ford. Now for those of you who took me up on my recommending Rook & Ronin to you, I have heard how much you have loved them.

Fords novella, Slack and his full length book Taut, are brilliant.

I am such a fan girl of all the lads. J.A. just floats my boat.

I am a complete hussy when it comes to J.A's lads.

You can check all my reviews out on the blog. Just check the left side bar.

J.A. actually told me the reason we are getting a novella on Spencer - A Day In Spencer's Life, Bomb is cause of me. My hint was in my Slack review. I have the fb message, I am not talking smack :)

Woot!!

TAUT: The Ford Book by JA Huss
(Rook and Ronin Spin-off)
Published January 20, 2014
Contemporary, Erotic Romance, New-ish Adult

Synopsis:

By: J.A. Huss
Published By: Science Future Press
Released: Available Now
Details: Digital Copy for honest review, 325 Pages

RATING: 5 I'M SO IN LOVE WITH FORD STARS!!

Blurb: Goodreads

TAUT IS A STANDALONE NOVEL - you do NOT have to read any of the Rook and Ronin books first.

Ford Aston is known for many things. Being an emotionless, messed up bastard, a freakishly smart social outcast, and a cold, domineering master who keeps "pets" instead of girlfriends.

And after Rook broke his heart, he plans to keep it that way.

Ashleigh is known for nothing, and that's exactly what she's got going for her. She's broke, stranded in the mountains with a three month old baby, and Ford Aston is screwing with her head.

Big. Time.

And she plans to mess with his right back.

It's a coy game at first, filled with flirting, and innuendo--but Ford soon realizes something is not quite right with Ashleigh. In fact, something is seriously, seriously wrong and the closer they get to their final destination, the closer Ford gets to the truth.

One night of devastation, self-loathing, and emptiness turns into the best thing that ever happened to Ford Aston. But one day of in-your-face reality threatens Ashleigh's whole existence.

******

Since A LOT of people have been asking here is the scoop on how this book fits in with my Rook & Ronin series:

Ford first appears in Rook and Ronin #2, Manic. He has a bigger role in Panic, R&R #3, and then he has a novella, called SLACK. This TAUT book is only FORD. It's not really part of the R&R series, as that plot has all been sidelined for this one romance book.

Trailer:

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

I love Ford Aston.

I love him even more after reading Taut.

Ford is a character who is just so well written.

Clever.

He sees a problem, he fixes it.

He is a little dangerous, cunning and a quick thinker.

Ford is a walking , breathing thesaurus of descriptive words.

You want him on your team. When he plays, he plays to win. Rook is the only one he didn’t win.

Just when I thought I was a smart ass and had channeled some of Ford’s genius and worked something out...

...BAM!!!

I got blindsided.

Crikey. Didn’t see that coming.

Ford is everything and more in this book.

He has met his match intellectually.

Enter Ashleigh.

Ashleigh may come across as fragile, in need of saving and a mamma to boot, but she knows what she wants. She likes to talk things out with Ford. She likes to challenge his beliefs in himself.

“But yeah, I’m not usually so nice. You caught me on a bad day.”

“This is a bad day? What are you like on a good day? A saint?” This brings the smile back, at least partly.

“No, on a good day I’m myself. On a good day I would’ve left you in your car all night.”

She looks over at me quickly. “Would not’ve.”

Ford thinks he knows what he wants. He thinks he can’t show emotion, but he is hurting from Rook.

He wanted Rook. He can’t have her. He won’t settle for less.

I’m not an emotional guy. I mean, I get what she’s saying, but even after my dad died, I never wanted to like, kill myself or anything. I have a strong sense of preservation. And I suppose that’s why I don’t always put others first.

Ashleigh likes to interrupt and question Ford.

And then she does shut up and go away.

I sit here thinking it over several minutes before I come to the conclusion that I have just been word-slapped by a girl who never raised her voice or used profanity.

Ford likes to control.

Game on.

Ford likes his space.

“Sphere of privacy, people. Now.”

I could so see Rutherford saying that. It made me laugh. I think that is a quote that will stick with me forever. I can actually see Sheldon from Big Bang Theory saying this. Ford is after all a genius.

But there is more stuff going on here than first meets the eye and I loved watching it unfold.

I loved watching Ford...evolve.

“Yeah,” I say to Kate, my captive audience. “That’s some shit right there.”

Ford is growl worthy.

His sexual side is... * growl *

“ Tonight I promise you perfection. So just give in, Ashleigh. Give yourself to me and let it happen.”

I simply love listening to Ford’s inner monologue.

Where are you going, Ford?

I don’t answer the voice. Partly because I have no idea and partly because it’s not good to encourage the internal monologue.

I know I am odd. I do, I admit it. I understand this, I own it. What can I say. I was just born this way.

This is my new thing, since I met Rook. I’m trying to make amends for any and all weird past behavior. I figure trying to blow him up on the golf course counts as something that requires an effort.

Ford and Ashleigh’s road trip is a healing trip for Ford. He is getting much benefit from playing the Knight.

“It was your absence that woke me, not the noise you were making.”

Every time J.A. writes a book or a spin-off in this series I will pick it up ASAP and read it.

I am addicted.

Simply. Addicted. I am having withdrawal , already.

Bring. On. Bomb.
