BOOK REVIEW:

This was a great little read , free from Harlequin Teen, currently.


This little novella is from Puck's POV. It is full of Puck's wit and ways to outsmart. I still can't see Puck being Meghan's true love I can only see Ash. But to have a friend like Puck who you love on that level, would be awesome.


Leanansidhe has called in a favour that Ash obliges . Puck uses a wonderful humorous way to get them both back into the Summer Court. I did laugh at Ash a few times. A little sad what Leanansidhe wants back that Titania took from her .


Reading Ash and Puck together on their little adventure makes for some great dialogue. I actually like reading these two together cause there is always the threat that Ash will kill Puck, but even I am beginning to believe that Ash wouldn't dare...would he?


After seeing the cover of The Iron Knight I had the visual of what Ash looked like and it made for a nice read of Summer's Crossing. I just need my cover visual of Puck. Poor Puck, will he ever get his love he so desires?

I fell in love with The Iron Daughter book # 2 , it was fast paced with Ash, Meghan , Puck, The Ironhorse and Grimalkin leading an exciting adventure through the Faery realm/ mortal world.

The Iron Queen , book # 3 in the series is a wonderful continuing story of Ash, Meghan , Puck and of course Grimalkin and their adventure to defeat the false Iron King and to stop the 'Nevernever' from being destroyed forever.

Alliances must be made between the courts . Oberon and Mab must work side by side to battle the false Iron King and his army.

Meghan and Ash's romance heats up. Poor Puck must look on, always loyal to Meghan at great cost to his feelings.
Meghan's character grows up an enormous amount in this book, she is fearless and selfless.  Grimalkin always there for knowledge when needed. Ash loyal to the core. A new character is introduced who sounds rather nice * wiggles eyebrows*.

 This series would make a beautiful childrens movie. One particular scene in The Iron Queen with the Gliders would be spectacular!!


From New Orleans to Faery, this book has  adventure, fight scenes, close calls, contracts, exile, pride, loyalty and deep love.

The Iron Knight I am looking forward to as I know Ash and Puck will be waiting for me. Every girl needs an Ash and Puck in their life.

BOOK REVIEW:

I absolutely could not put this book down!!!! Yes,  I did 4 exclamation marks. Julie kicked a goal with this little gem.

I am Team Ash through and through. I just read between the lines at what Ash had to sacrifice to be with Meghan. The Winter court and Mab was his home , his life was the court and Mabs bidding. To go against everything he was taught, raised by, especially Mab , is a huge thing. What was right and safe for Meghan he put ahead of what he felt and wanted . Sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't, but he atleast tried to leave her. The difficulties of being part of royalty in all these different courts is very political and to an extent corrupt. Trust and loyalty sways like there's no tomorrow. Ash was a legend at fighting his feelings for Meghan and what he should be doing with Meghan because its dictated to him by his family.

I do love Puck but I just didn't feel it, like I felt it with Ash. Puck was her childhood friend who she loved as a friend from the start but tried to fill her empty void of Ash resisting her. Puck loves Meghan and Meghan has a love for Puck .

Ironhorse, the faithful warrior I absolutely love him. When Julie wrote his dialogue in capitals I could hear the booming voice of Ironhorse.

I was quite pleased ( ducks any flying pillows thrown at my head) for Grimalkin to be heard but not seen as much. I personally needed the guys Ash and Puck to be in the story . That was my little personal pet hate with The Iron King.  Ash just takes my breath away with his strength. Puck is just gorgeous with his ability to try and make a laugh out of a serious situation. Every girl needs a Puck in their life. But! unfortunately Pucks never come in first place with the girl. The girl selfishly or not, needs a Puck in her life, but an Ash even more.

This book was just one great flowing story of action and adventure and loss and betrayal. Brilliantly written Julie Kagawa. I really liked the addition of new characters that served a real purpose . I kinda enjoyed Leanansidhe Queen of the Exiles. She appeared the most easy of the faerie Queens/Kings to work with . I did worry about poor little bro Ethan. His sister coming in and out of his life at only the age of 4 and the company he keeps. I can see a shrink coming his way when he is older, lol!! Not that that is funny for the little tike.

The Iron Daughter was such a great adventure from start to finish. I am looking forward to The Iron Queen, rather excitedly. Me thinks I need some more Ash ..sigh and Puck the ever faithful, always available to console and help guy. I can't even imagine where The Iron Queen is going to take us. Maybe it's the Summer courts turn to take over the story with Titania, the evil stepmum....or not and my imagination is doing overtime:D

BOOK REVIEW:

I purchased this Novella E-Book from Harlequin Teens site for a whole $2.69US. After downloading the Adobe Digital software needed to read it I was off and running with this nifty little 59 page read. I would suggest purchasing Winter's Passage and not skipping it to go straight to 'The Iron Daughter' as it does give you a great little story. In true Julie Kagawa style , adds another children's story book character to the mix. It is that little bridge that takes you from The Iron King to The Iron Daughter and you always need a bridge. You learn some new things and we get to see how 'Puck' is doing. Not  forgetting the bit of smexi tension between Prince Ash and Meghan.

I did have a little trouble with 'The Iron King' at first but you must look at these very creative books as possibly a 'Tim Burton' style of imagery in your mind when reading, especially his 'Alice In Wonderland',  when they are all travelling in the Faerie realms. When in the mortal world I then see it switching again in my mind .

I really enjoyed this albeit very short read and I must state what a complete waste of this beautiful cover for Winter's Passage when only in Ebook format. It would look lovely in paperback, but!!! an ebook it is:D

BOOK REVIEW:

Julie Kagawa has a great imagination in her first book in the Iron Fey series. I will read 'Winters Passage' next the ebook novella, then go onto 'The Iron Daughter', book 2.

To me personally, there is the 'Alice in Wonderland' , possibly 'Narnia' and admittedly 'A Midsummer Nights Dream' characters/feel. I had to ponder if younger readers actually knew 'A Midsummer Nights Dream' , characters..I am a bit out of the loop so I didn't.


'Grimalkin', the invisible cat/side kick character I enjoyed but sometimes I wished Ash or Puck was in his place in some of the storyline. Maybe Ash more than Puck as I am a bit of Team Ash at this stage. I would have liked reading Ash definantly earlier on in the book. Looking forward to seeing where Julie takes us with the Iron King and his kingdom.


Loads of fey and creatures in this book, faerie Courts and well a smexi lad and a prankster/bff lad .

I had to laugh and seriously laughed at the Bluetooth wearing Iron King...hmmm..*giggle* ( Would it be okay to assume , that you would be out of range in another realm). I did enjoy the new court/kingdom that Julie made. I thought that was very clever to add to the modern world the Iron King and his subjects. Iron being the killer of fey. Very clever addition which will give this series life , hence the book titles.

This is an adventure that sometimes had you in and out of the mortal world. Ethan / Changeling..well Changeling was a hoot with his evil little ways..quite a crack up.


The Iron King is a great little read for the fey loving readers , sometimes it appears for the younger reader and then sometimes it appears for a marginally older crowd with the mortal getting groped in the club and the would be ermmm can't say what I want to call them..lets just say the group of fey lads that wanted to assault Meghan in the park. The 'f' bomb ( the one that rhymes with Puck) does get dropped once and a bit of less language for those who need to know.


The artwork on all the covers is gorgeous, well done!!! The Iron Queen due 2011.
