Published By : Thomas Nelson
Released: Available Now
Details : Digital , 352 Pages

RATING : 5 Crazy Dangerous Stars!!

Crazy Dangerous Summary:

Sam Hopkins is a good kid who has fallen in with the wrong crowd. Hanging around with car thieves and thugs, Sam knows it’s only a matter of time before he makes one bad decision too many and gets into real trouble.

But one day, Sam sees these thugs harassing an eccentric schoolmate named Jennifer. Finding the courage to face the bullies down, Sam loses a bad set of friends and acquires a very strange new one.

Because Jennifer is not just eccentric. To Sam, she seems downright crazy. She has terrifying hallucinations involving demons, the devil, and death. And here’s the really crazy part: Sam is beginning to suspect that these visions may actually be prophecies—prophecies of something terrible that’s going to happen very soon. Unless he can stop it.

With no one to believe him, with no one to help him, Sam is now all alone in a race against time.

Finding the truth before disaster strikes is going to be both crazy and very, very dangerous.

Book Blurb : Taken From Goodreads

"You probably want to hear about Jennifer and the demons and how I played chicken with a freight train and—oh yeah—the weird murder and how I found out about it—you're definitely going to want to hear about that. But first, I have to tell you about the stupidest thing I ever did . . ."

Sam Hopkins is bored with his status as a preacher's kid. So when a group of guys notorious for being in trouble offers him friendship, he accepts. Before long, he has several new skills—including hot-wiring cars.

At school, there's an eccentric loner named Jennifer. When Sam defends her from being bullied, she begins to seek him out as her only friend. Her ramblings often seem illogical . . . but then start to contain grains of truth. One leads Sam to discover that one of his new friends has been killed. And then she tells him, "I'm looking for the devil." Sam doesn't know what that means, but he knows it's a matter of life and death that he figure it out.

Everyone else thinks Jennifer is suffering from schizophrenia. But Sam is starting to wonder if there could be something prophetic in her words. Discovering the truth is going to be both crazy and dangerous.

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle :

RECTE AGE NIL TIME

DO RIGHT. FEAR NOTHING.

This book was a fantastic, suspenseful, crazy, dangerous ride. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Sam Hopkins is a PK = Preachers Kid.

He starts off trying to shake the image of a PK, becomes the apprentice to three thugs, Jeff, Harry and Ed and learns the trade of some things that can come in handy being a thug. After a short lived apprenticeship, Sam sees the error of his ways when he meets Jennifer . Oh the mystery of Jennifer.

I loved Jennifer’s fragile mind. Andrew writes her incredibly well. You are questioning Jennifer’s character all the way through the book. Jennifer talks in rhymes. It’s her quirky thing she does.

“Run!” I shouted again.
“I don’t want to leave-you-believe-you!” she cried out wildly.
“Believe me, leave me!” I shouted back.

“Sometimes, yes,” Jennifer managed to say. Rice cakes, ice skates, mice on skates. Mice on skates—that was a funny idea—but she knew she couldn’t say it out loud or the doctor really would think she was crazy.

Andrew throws curveballs into his story that just keep the pages turning. This is a fast paced ride that just keeps you guessing. Andrew writes with such energy. You really believe you are with Sam , doing all these Crazy Dangerous things a PK should not be doing. It felt very, very, real this story.

What would you honestly do if a troubled girl was telling you bad things would happen? What would you do when you finally started to believe that in her crazy mixed up mind there may be some truth.

DO RIGHT. FEAR NOTHING.

This book was not what I expected. It was much, much, more.

Andrew is very, very, good at keeping the reader intrigued, turning the pages, trying to work out if this is a paranormal book or is it a disease of the mind that leads Jennifer to seek out her ‘ magic friend, Sam Hopkins.’

Around 2/3rds the way through this book , it escalates and your heart will be hammering in your chest. I could so easily see this as a movie. The book is that good. It’s not predictable it is Crazy Dangerous. I highly recommend this read.

DO RIGHT. FEAR NOTHING.

BLOG TOUR # 28 - ANGEL EYES by SHANNON DITTEMORE - ANGEL EYES TRILOGY # 1

On my stop today I have my review of Angel Eyes.
I hope you enjoy:)

Once you’ve seen, you can’t unsee. Everything changes when you’ve looked at the world through . . .

ANGEL EYES

Brielle’s a ballerina who went to the city to chase her dreams and found tragedy instead. She’s come home to shabby little Stratus, Oregon, to live with her grief and her guilt . . . and the incredible, numbing cold she can’t seem to shake.

Jake’s the new guy at school. The boy next door with burning hands and an unbelievable gift that targets him for corruption.

Something more than fate has brought them together. An evil bigger than both of them lurks in the shadows nearby, hiding in plain sight. Two angels stand guard, unsure what’s going to happen. And a beauty brighter than Jake or Brielle has ever seen is calling them to join the battle in a realm where all human choices start.

A realm that only angels and demons—and Brielle—can perceive.

RATING : 4 TUTU JAKE STARS!!

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle :

I really enjoyed Shannon's Angel tale and look forward to reading more with the evil Damien.

I am all the way Team Jake. He is a gorgeous character. Human and a healer. I enjoyed the chemistry between Jake and our fragile female lead, Brielle.

Brielle is carrying a lot of pain on her shoulders, her friend Ali murdered three weeks prior. She has come home to Stratus , her hometown which holds another kind of pain. Her father is a lumberjack, her mother died of cancer when she was young. She sometimes counts things, it helps her.

There was a scene that I really loved, quite early into the book. Brielle was doing a dance in the ballet studio and a boy was watching her. I loved he huffed on the window and wrote 'sorry'.

This book is told from several POV's. Which I enjoyed. I really like Canaan, Jake's legal guardian.

Damien is a very spontaneous evil guy. He just lashes out and does what he feels will get him the instant attention he needs to resume his evil path. He does not like losing or coming second place. When he has his mind set on somebody, he gets his minions on the job.

I did love the way Shannon described the Celestial through the eyes of those that could see it. I am a sucker for a nice set of wings and certain characters have beautifully described wings. ( I know I am being coy or else it gives too much away )

Jake and Brielle become hot commodities and need to stay one step ahead of Damien and his minions.

There is a continual thread of mystery that is woven through the plot. Some things I could see on the horizon and some not.

The character's are all interwoven with Damien's master plan at the helm. But will he succeed?

I do love the cover of this book it has a lot of meaning to the story . I have not read a lot of angel books. None like this one. I am more Becca Fitzpatrick's Hush, Hush series. I look forward to the sequel.

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle :

From the Prologue I was turning pages. How intriguing was that prologue? Like you weren’t going to keep reading to see what that was all about.

A playground, midnight, some kids and Meg....then the Dust was all over her......

This is a dystopian, fast paced middle grade read. I honestly forgot these kids were twelve years old. I had to keep reminding myself. It felt like an older middle grade book if that makes sense? Spy kids, meets dystopian, the Marked vs the Markless.

Logan Langly ..lol!! Sometimes reminded me of his age, at the start of the book he is a paranoid, scared boy who had a night light ( afraid of the dark) and his father tucked him in at night. By the end of the book......another matter! Logan has his reasons for his behaviour, his sister Lily died from receiving the Mark. He has felt like he has been watched for a long time. He can’t tell anybody how he feels.

At the age of thirteen you Pledge yourself and get Marked on your wrist. Now as far as I understand, the Mark is like you are barcoded and you scan your wrist to do things. I think it is a type of Big Brother in a way.

There was a war and this has been the end result to try to keep Peace ....but is it?

Evan’s world building I really enjoyed. He added some different things to his dystopian story. The middle grade school is underground...no..nobody is a vampire..hehe!! Residences, average height is twenty stories, one room per floor with an elevator and the yard is on the roof. Logan’s home is eleven stories. Musical instrument, Wailing Mitts, like turtle shells with ten finger rings , move them around and pull on the rings to make like a guitar sound or keyboard sound. I want me a pair of those, they sounded cool. We have rock, paper and scissors. Evan’s world has, rock, tablet, laser..ha!

I did laugh, for all the future type things like rollersticks and the spy gadgets, the good ol fashioned, can on the string was used to eavesdrop.

The DOME = Department of Marked Emergencies ( sounds like something out of Harry Potter) they are after a chappy called Peck. Now Peck is a BIG mystery, even down to what he looks like for most of this book. It is the rather good twist in this story. Even when we meet Peck for the first time, Evan tells us nothing, no description.

Enter Erin and her father, Mr Arbitor. He used to work for the Beacon Police, but now...........!

Erin and her father move to Spokie which is where our story takes place. Things are happening in Spokie and DOME wants to sort it out.

Erin is not too happy about moving to Spokie , but she makes friends with Logan and the story turns into these two pulling a Nancy Drew and uncover all sorts of things. They are actually doing a better job than DOME who are rather none the wiser to room 113B getting supplies nicked. Great security guys!

Dane , Hailey and Logan have been besties up until fifth grade, they did everything together. Dane decided he liked Hailey more than friends, Hailey decided she liked Logan, he was none the wiser , Dane got upset , jealousy flew in the air ( guys you are only twelve) . Logan still none the wiser as he is crushing on Erin, who is none the wiser..ha! But, Hailey is wiser and is upset with Logan. Dane is peeved at Logan and shows his affections to Hailey by calling her weirdo...hehe!

Then we have this bunch of misfits brought together by the infamous Peck. Eddie and Tyler are 13, Joanne 15, Meg has issues , I shouldn’t laugh but there was a fry pan Tangled ( movie) incident and Blake who appears in charge is 14. Blake appears so much wiser for his age. Eddie and Tyler belong in the movie Lord of the Flies. They were a little too eager!

You get the feeling Blake is more of a good guy, he cares for Rusty. You do wonder who are the bad guys, and who are the good guys...it’s not as clear cut as you think.

This was a great middle grade read it will keep you guessing and then throw in some twists along the way. The ending will have you wanting for more.
