BOOK REVIEW - FORETOLD by JANA OLIVER - DEMON TRAPPERS # 4 - PAN MACMILLAN - YA PARANORMAL ROMANCE

By: Jana Oliver
Published By: Pan Macmillan
Released : Available Now
Details: Sgned paperback as gift from author, 438 Pages

RATING: 5 DENVER BECK STARS

Blurb: Goodreads

In the fourth Demon Trappers novel, Riley faces the final battle for humanity and Beck's heart—and Hell is the least of her problems
Now that Riley’s managed to (just barely) fend off Armageddon, everything’s changed. Well . . . most things. After their passionate kiss before the big battle in the cemetery, Beck is back to treating her like a little girl, as if nothing ever happened. While she’d love to just tell him off and move on, Riley vowed to take care of Beck the way he’s taken care of her since her father’s death—but she’s about to get a whole lot more than she bargained for. When she’s commissioned to go with Beck to his hometown and help him care for his dying mother, they stumble too close to a dark and murderous secret, one that Beck fears will drive Riley away from him forever. As chaos breaks loose, Riley may be Beck's only hope for redemption . . . and survival.

Meanwhile, up in Atlanta, it’s quickly becoming clear that Heaven may have won a battle, but the war is far from over. Riley and Beck face a stormy future, as Lucifer's ex-right-hand-man, Sartael, proves himself to be more resilient than anyone thought. He has Atlanta in his grip and is about to begin a brutal war with the prince of Hell. As the seconds tick down toward a final confrontation, it's up to Riley and the man she loves to finally defeat their old enemy, or lose everything they've fought for.

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

Anybody who reads this series can’t help but love Denver Beck, aka Backwoods Boy.

I LOVE Beck.

Jana knows how much I love that boy...if only I was erm many, many years younger and he didn’t have Riley.

In this instalment you pretty much have two sections.

We learn more about Denver and his home town and his momma. Some past things get rectified and then it is back on to the demon side of things and the politics of heaven and hell.

I love me some Grand Master Stewart. He is a good sort. Harper found his way in the end and Peter is always there to pop up and say hello in each book.

Even little Magpie Ninja. I do love the little guy.

Simon is a character who grew on me. He has a bit of a rollercoaster ride in this series with his faith and other things. I will leave you to find that all out.

Ori...oh Ori...I do like you. Even though things worked out a little...I would love Ori to maybe one day by the miracle of Jana’s mind get himself a nice filly.

Never say never.

This was a very satisfying end to this series...even though...da...da...daaaaaaaa there is a novella # 4.5 Grave Matters aaannnddd Mind Games # 5 released 31st Oct 2015.

Yay to me.

Oh and I heard a whisper there may be one more book after Mind Games.

Giddy Up!

I did love how Jana wound this one up, but so glad there is more for me to read. It took me so long to read this one because I really didn’t want it to end in my mind. I knew Grave Matters was the novella, but when I saw Mind Games cover I was like ...HUZZAHHH!!! Okay now I can read Foretold.

I get like that with some books. I have to be ready for it to be finished in my mind. If I don’t read it...it didn’t finish. This reminds me I better read Mockingjay and Allegiant so I can see the movies with mini me.

I have always loved the cover art to this series and the next two covers are just as awesome.

One day we shall have a drink again in Brisvegas Jana.

For an awesome YA series pick up the Demon Trappers and you too can be lining up behind me ( just kidding) for some Denver Beck luurrvvve.

Justine...sorry Jana...still can’t like her and you know why.

*raises one eyebrow*

LOL!!

BOOK REVIEW - FORGIVEN by JANA OLIVER - THE DEMON TRAPPERS # 3 - PAN MACMILLAN - URBAN FANTASY

By: Jana Oliver
Published By: Pan Macmillan
Released: Available Now
Details: Paperback, 408 Pages

RATING: 5 BEAUTIFUL BACKWOODS BOY BECK STARS!

Blurb: Goodreads

Jana Oliver's third spellbinding Demon Trappers novel - following The Demon Trapper's Daughter and Soul Thief - brings all new thrills, as Riley Blackthorne takes on demons, love... and the future of the human race.

The days are growing darker for 17-year-old demon trapper Riley Blackthorne. With her father’s reanimated body back safely, Beck barely speaking to her because of a certain hunky Fallen angel, and a freshly-made deal with Lucifer, she has enough on her hands to last a normal teenage lifetime. Though she bargained with Heaven to save his life, her ex-boyfriend Simon has told the Vatican’s Demon Hunters that she’s working with Hell. So now she’s in hiding, at the top of everyone’s most-wanted list.

But it’s becoming clear that this is bigger than Riley, and rapidly getting out of control: something sinister is happening in Atlanta… or someone. The demons are working together for the first time ever and refusing to die, putting civilians in harm’s way. Riley thinks she might know who’s behind it all, but who’s going to believe her? Caught between her bargain with Heaven and her promise to Lucifer, Riley fears the final war is coming – and it may be closer than anyone thinks…

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

Holy mac and cheese the shiz really hits the fan in Forgiven.

In more ways than one.

Jana has upped the stakes and everybody is playing for keeps.

There is a war brewing , there can only be one winner.

Will it be Lucifer?

Armaggedon is coming and it looks like Riley, the seventeen year old apprentice trapper is carrying humanity’s existence on her shoulders.

Pressure. Much.

Riley is back in another exciting page turning installment. She is getting served a rather epic proportions sized to-do list she must sort through and favors she must come good on.

There are demons running about all epic-action-movie style, keeping the Vatican’s Demon Hunters and the Demon Trappers on their toes. Not to mention putting Riley in a little over her head.

Her feelings are getting stomped on and I want to lock Riley and Beck in a room and throw the key in the bushes.

‘That was her, wasn’t it?’

‘What?’ he asked, confused.

‘Justine. She missing her bed buddy?’

He eyed her. ‘Yer jealous.’ She shook her head. ‘Yer lyin’. I can see it in yer eyes.’

‘OK, maybe I am. I don’t trust her.’

Beck looked away, his jaw tense. ‘Yet ya’d trust that winged bastard?’

‘Oh, now who’s jealous, huh?’ she taunted. ‘Ori treated me like I was worth something, not some stupid kid.’

Ori had placed a stick of dynamite inside her heart and detonated it, and now there were pieces of her spread all over. Beck wasn’t helping her pick them up. If anything , he was grinding them under the heel of his boot.

Every time Beck tried to help her, she just pushed back, creating an increasingly unbreakable wall between them. Her way of paying him back for dissing her. Now she just felt like a stupid little kid.

I’m sorry. For all of it.

Maybe someday she’d get the chance to tell him that in person.

Denver Beck is not making it easy for Riley. He has a lot of things he must think  through where Riley is concerned. He is allowed to get it on with Justine, but he doesn’t much like knowing Riley had her first with Ori.

‘What’s so special about that winged bastard?’ he demanded of the empty room. ‘Why couldn’t ya have waited another year or so and then we ...’The hand holding the beer bottle began to quake. ‘My God, ya never gave us a chance.’

He still won’t admit that she isn’t a little girl. He carries a lot of guilt from Paul’s death around with him. He has his own family problems in the back ground and a world to help save.

Beck...oooo...I love this backwoods Georgia boy. He is such a treat to read. He is trying so hard to do the right thing, carrying as much of the load as he can.

Team Beck !!

‘Oh God don’t do this!’ she cried.

Beck must have seen how frightened she was because his expression softened. He leaned close and whispered. ‘Do ya trust me, Riley?’

‘Yes,’ she whispered, trembling with fear. Always.

Beck gently placed a kiss on her forehead. ‘Then it’ll be all right,’ he replied.
Then he tossed her over the side of the five-storey building.

Beck and Riley are being separated due to circumstance. Justine is still sniffing about and Jana absolutely kills me with Justine. The woman knows how to woo Beck with her feminine wiles.

I say, back off. I have my stinky dead fish ready Justine.

‘Hope to see you later,’ Justine replied. ‘I am missing you.’ Then Beck was listening to a dial tone.

Missin’ ya too, honey girl. Even if Stewart thinks yer not on the level.

I do get my knickers in a knot with Justine. I want Beck to leave it zipped up where she is concerned.

Sporting a set of brilliant emerald-green eyes, Justine was a stunningly petite woman with shocking red hair that tumbled over her shoulders in wide curls. Her accent was hard to pin down, but it flowed like verbal honey no matter the subject.

Beck’s attention moved to the hunters. ‘Any way ya can give us some space?’

Ori the Fallen Angel, is he bad or is there a shred of good in there?

Jana will keep you guessing.

Poor ol’ Paul Blackthorne , Jana is putting him through the wringer. The things a parent will do for their loved ones. It’s rather a powerful thing.

Love, Master Stewart. My hubs dad is a Scotsman, so I can hear him very well when he is talking. I like seeing Riley with some stability and an adult there for her. I like seeing his influence on Beck.

To his astonishment, Stewart clapped him on the shoulder. ‘We’ll make it out of this yet, lad. Now get sober. Stop tryin’ ta drink away yer problems. I been there and it doesn’t work.’

‘Then why do ya carry that flask of whisky all the time?’ Beck asked before he could catch himself.

The Scotsman smirked. ‘Because it’s better than drinkin’ the whole damned bottle.’

Peter is a stand up guy. I love how he will just step up to the plate whenever Riley needs a friend.

Simon, Simon, Simon!!!

Instead of unloading her heartbreak, Riley shook her head, too weary to go there. ‘Simon’s changed. He was so nice and kind and now suddenly he’s seeing Hellish conspiracies everywhere.

Simi is the floating character who pops in and out of each book, but I love knowing Riley has a female friend she can have a coffee with and be normal, for five minutes. Have some down time and talk boys.

‘So name your poison - you want to talk about this Ori guy or about the hunky trapper?’

Her friend was blunt to a fault. ‘Neither.’

‘Choose one or I will,’ Simi shot back.

Ah crap. ‘Beck.’

‘Good choice,’ her friend replied, nodding her approval. ‘Why are you two dancing around each other?’

She’s like an overactive Chihuahua. But underneath that flakiness was a working brain, one of the reasons Riley liked her so much.

It was not that simple. ‘Beck is ...’

‘A total pain in the butt,’ Simi retorted. ‘But I know the signs: there’s a really cool guy under that skin, who’ll be totally worth all the hassles. You’re an idiot if you let this one slide, girlfriend.’

The more I find out about Denver Beck , the more I love. Rennie was rather unexpected.

‘Don’t start,’ he warned.

‘What?’ she said, grinning. I’m sure all the big, bad trappers have a .... in their house.’

Harper is still being Harper, but we learn more.

Then he needs to learn his limits,’ Harper replied. His eyes moved to Riley. ‘You’ll go with him, Brat.’

The little Ninja, I love this little guy. I always look out for him in each book in this series. Riley and the little guy have this odd little friendship/thing going on. I kind of want one of these crafty little guys. I mean I know he is a demon and working essentially for the wrong team. But ya can’t help liking him.

‘Hey, guy.’ The wee fiend observed her for a moment, then leaped on tho the table, his bag in hand.

My little Ninja, is it the last we will see of you?

The demon smiled, revealing pointed teeth, then gave her a nod. She didn’t have to tell him twice: the earring was back inside the bag in an instant. Then he zipped out of sight.

Riley sighed. ‘I’ll miss you. Even if you work for ...him.’

With an epic battle, a hero and a girl who has some hefty decisions to weigh-in for humanities sake, this was another awesome installment in The Demon Trappers series.

Will I have to lock Riley and Beck in a room to sort out their smexual tension or will these two get their love mojo rockin’ the kazbah?

‘Woman?’ He wasn’t calling her girl any longer.

If that wasn’t a sign the world was ending, what other proof did she need?

So close, yet so far.

Two steps forward, one step back.

Wiccan Gavenia Kingsgrave’s psychic gift, the ability to talk to the dead, comes with strings attached. As a Shepherd, she escorts them into the hereafter, but not all the souls want to cross over, and some can be downright vicious. When her latest case involves a heart-breaking hit-and-run victim, Gavenia is stressed to the max. The last thing she needs is a no-nonsense private detective on her tail, even if he is a handsome Irishman.

Former homicide detective Douglas O’Fallon possesses his own psychic gift, one he’s denied for years. Hired by a wealthy client to prove that Gavenia’s a con artist, he is sceptical of the witch’s claims she can speak to the dead. If he finds her gift as genuine, then he will be forced to accept his own. When their two cases intersect, opposites attract. But will they be able to set their differences aside long enough to outwit their foes – both the living and the dead?

BRIAR ROSE

Releases : 12th September 2013
Pan Macmillan
A dark and sexy reimagining of the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale from the author of THE DEMON TRAPPERS.

For Briar Rose, life is anything but a fairy tale. She's stuck in a small town in deepest Georgia with parents who won't let her out of their sight, a bunch of small-minded, gossiping neighbours and an evil ex who's spreading nasty rumours about what she may or may not have done in the back of his car.

She's tired of it all, so when, on her sixteenth birthday, her parents tell her that she is cursed and will go to sleep for a hundred years when the clock strikes midnight, she's actually kind of glad to leave it all behind. She says her goodbyes, lies down, and closes her eyes . . . And then she wakes up. Cold, alone and in the middle of the darkest, most twisted fairy tale she could ever have dreamed of.

Now Briar must fight her way out of the story that has been created for her, but she can't do it alone. She never believed in handsome princes, but now she's met one her only chance is to put her life in his hands, or there will be no happy ever after and no waking up.

Kylie Chan also gave me some signed bookmarks to giveaway, which was real nice of her. So they will be up for giveaway too. Kylie gave me a novella of hers to read, Black Scales White Fur which you can find on SMASHWORDS. So once I have read it I shall put these up for a giveaway in the review posting.

So that was my night in Brisvegas with Jana Oliver and Kylie Chan stopping by. I enjoyed a couple of nice drinks and Jana and hubs had a nice pint of beer. Well, it was an Irish pub. I was very excited when I found out Jana was coming to Australia. I did a bit of squeeeeeeing! CJ her PA got a rather excited email when I found out. So Jana has to save some of those yummy Freddo Frogs and Caramello Koalas I gave her for CJ.

I don't think the Mars Bar cookies will make it back to USA, the useby date will be up on those by then.

Thank you Jana for making the trip to Brisbane and checking out a teeny bit of my state. I felt rather spesh to be meeting up with you as I didn't think we would ever meet in person. I can holler at you in cyberspace, but it is rather nice face to face.

BOOK REVIEW - FORBIDDEN by JANA OLIVER - THE DEMON TRAPPERS # 2

By : JANA OLIVER
Published By : Pan Macmillan
Released : I'm a tad confuzzed but I think book 2 is launched everywhere now.
Details : Paperback , 418 Pages

RATING: 5 TEAM BECK STARS!!

Book Blurb : Taken From Goodreads

Riley's beginning to think being a demon trapper isn't all it's cracked up to be. Her dad's been stolen by a necromancer, her boyfriend's gone all weird and she's getting warm and fuzzy feelings for someone who's seriously bad news. It's tempting to give it all up and try to be normal, but that's not an option. Because the demons have plans for Riley. And they're not the only ones.
BOOK REVIEW:

When ‘Forbidden’, turned up on my doorstep, 10th August, I did my Team Beck happy dance. I read it immediately, and then was embargoed until 3rd September by Oz publishers, couldn't say a word. But , now I can!

I just LOVE!!!! this series. I absolutely adore Beck. Jana is making us readers work for that relationship we are hanging for, and rightly so.

For some daft reason I thought it was going to be kind of smooth sailing for Beck and Riley in ‘Forbidden’. I thought they would be hanging out killing demons, Riley learning from Beck, cashing in, squabbling, being stubborn with each other.....errr nope. Well they were being stubborn and squabbling..... but , I do understand why Jana took the path she took.

Simon and Riley’s relationship takes an interesting turn. I felt frustrated with Simon, but I understand that Simon’s faith is so strong that nothing can come between him and his belief in God. I did feel a little sad for Simon as he needed somebody to blame.

Beck ..oh...Beck. Great writing on Jana’s behalf, but bad..bad.. Beck. To boot he has now broken a cardinal rule not to piss off a Hunter, me thinks there is going to be some troubles for Beck in ‘Forgiven’.

Did somebody deserve a slap from me (just to clarify, not Jana) ...oooOOOooo girlfriend you did not just go there....* shakes head*

The more I was wanting Riley and Beck to throw themselves at each other, bang around off the walls like the frustrated characters they are, the more I knew it wasn’t the time. Riley and Beck are just not ready for each other. Beck is being the father/big brother figure not admitting to what’s buried under the surface and Riley can act like the wise ass little sister as they are both so stubborn . If Beck’s not growling at Riley, then she is being sarcastic and growling back at Beck, their communication skills kind of suck. It’s going to be an eruption worth waiting for when these two get a clue.

The title for us Aussies and the Brits, ‘Forbidden’ , means many things in this book.

Jana really throws in some curve balls. My heart went out to Beck when he needs Riley’s help. That would have taken a lot for him to swallow and ask. To me that said an awful lot about his trust he has in Riley.

Bff Peter, plays a much meatier role in ‘Forbidden’, he is coming into his own, stepping it up. I love that Riley has her little chicky friend down at the cafe as Riley has a lot of male influence in her life.

Mortimer is a great character. He is what he is, but he has class about him. He is a good guy, I think. Riley needs somebody to trust/help her when she is going all Nancy Drew. Mortimer does stick his neck out.

Ori, Ori, smexi Ori…. I can say no more….

Riley finds herself a most unlikely ally, you are going to love him. He is in Ninja stealth mode.

From one odd relationship to another one.....the grumpy bugger has decided to lighten up a little.

In ‘Forbidden’, loyalties are tested, there is lust, action and you get sucker punched a couple times. You realise how lonely Riley really is. She just wants to find her father. She doesn’t complain about the cards she has been dealt. She will do whatever it takes for the ones she loves. Her own safety doesn’t really enter into the equation. She just wants to be accepted by the boys club that is the Trappers Guild.

Jana is bringing in some more paranormal influences. It will be interesting to see where she goes with this. The way Jana ended ‘Forbidden’ , I thought the wait for this book was hard...ooo nooooo..... wait until the end of this book ....... are you in for some surprises, the wait is going to drive me all outback feral. You won’t be able to help feeling frustrated that you don’t have ‘Forgiven ‘ to crack open immediately. In a few years , how lucky will the new readers to the series be when they can just read them one after the other, no waiting.

Lucky much.

FAVE QUOTES:

Beck blinked a couple times before his eyes narrowed. ‘I’m the guy ya have to deal with if ya think you’re goin’ out with her.’

‘You didn’t tell tell me you had a brother,’ Ori said, looking over at Riley........

‘Look, dumbass,’ Beck growled, ‘ I don’t know what your game is, but you’re not playin’ it with her.’

He scowled. ‘Like you’re a good judge of character. Your first boyfriend was an abusive bastard and the last one was a self-righteous prick.’

‘So where do you fall on that scale?’ Ori enquired.

INTERVIEW WITH DENVER BECK FROM FORSAKEN , THE DEMON TRAPPERS by JANA OLIVER....GO TEAM BECK!!! PLUS 4 BOOKMARKS TO GIVEAWAY, INTERNATIONAL!!!!

I would like to welcome DENVER BECK aka BECK from 'The Demon Trappers' series , to Novels On The Run.
I will also be telling you about a chance to win one of four Forbidden/Soul Thief gorgeous bookmarks made by Miss Suzi at the end of the interview.

* nervous giggle* I’m interviewing Beck, he doesn’t know how much of a fan I am. I even have a t-shirt that says Team Beck  on the back.

Michelle :   G'day Beck, I have to admit, if there was casting for 'Forsaken' , The Demon Trappers movie ( hypothetically speaking as there is no movie....YET!!!) I have always thought Lucas Black would make a wonderful Beck.... now I don’t know if you have noticed, but, you have grown rather popular amongst the ladies, how do you feel about being called Beck, we seem to have forgotten your name is Denver. What do you prefer?

Beck :  Paul used to call me Den, but Beck works for me. Don’t have a middle name like most folks. I don’t know about all these ladies who think I’m popular, but hey, if they like me I can live with that.

Michelle :   Is there something you have kept totally secret from Riley that you would be willing to reveal to me?

Beck:  I’ve got one secret but if I tell you, she might find out, so I won’t say what that is. Riley doesn’t know that I was engaged once. Her name was Caitlin and she was from North Carolina. We met in the Army right before I was sent overseas. It didn’t work out.

Michelle: * jaw drop*

Michelle :  I hear you love Taylor Swift and her music, what would be your favourite song of hers?

Beck:  She’s got so many good ones. My favourite is 'I’m Only Me When I’m with You',  because it reminds me of... well.... someone.

Michelle: Oooo! I wonder which someone, Riley or Caitlin?

Michelle :   What do you like to do to prepare yourself for a night out catching demons, do you have a particular song you like to put on in the car...?

Beck:  Sometimes I listen to Taylor’s songs or some of Carrie Underwood’s music. If I’m feelin’ really rowdy I crank up The Devil Went Down to Georgia by Charlie Daniels. He totally nails it. And the good guy wins for a change. ::laughs::

Michelle:   You are a pretty serious guy around Riley, is there a softer side. I can’t help noticing that Taylor Swift’s songs are about love, romance and growing up?

Beck:  Paul said I’m a softie inside, but I don’t see it. I guess every guy is hopin’ to find the right girl, the one that’ll stay with ya forever. I’ve not had good luck that way, but who knows maybe someday I will and then life will be good.

Michelle : Awww, feeling all fluttery.

Michelle:  What 5 words would you use to describe Riley, honestly, from your heart?

Beck:  Riley’s pretty. Not real flashy like, but good-on-the-eyes pretty. She’s fearless and stubborn. Oh lord, she’s even more stubborn than I am (shakes head). She truly cares about people. And she’s way smart. Sometimes that gets her in trouble, but she doesn’t hide it like some girls do. Is that five? I lost count.

Michelle :  Errrr, yup, I think so...but too busy looking at Beck, he is sooo purrrttty.

Michelle:   What goes through your head when you are killing a grade 3 or 5 demon?

Beck:  Mostly I think about not gettin’ dead. If I have to kill ‘em, I just try to do it quick. Killin’ a Five is real dangerous. Trappin’ one is nearly impossible. The best ya can do is ground the damned thing and hope it goes away.

Michelle:   Jana has made you work hard to keep up with Riley and her stubborn personality. You’ve got a couple more books at this stage with Riley, what do you do to keep fit?

Beck:  I exercise every mornin’ and I don’t drink as much beer as I used to. Sometimes, if I can’t sleep, I’ll load up my backpack and go for a run. I got used to doin’ that in the Army and it helps me get my head straight. Sure gets some notice from the cops though.

Michelle:  I'm sure I would be noticing too.

Michelle:   What does a bachelor guy like yourself, do for down time?

Beck:  I go to the Armageddon Lounge to shoot some pool. It’s usually pretty quiet and nobody hassles me there. Sometimes Lenny the necro drops by and we play a game or two. He’s not as good as me, but for a guy who summons the dead and dresses so weird, he’s okay. Sometimes I meet a girl at one of the bars and well... yeah, ya know.

Michelle :  Errr...I know...* fans oneself*

Michelle:   If somebody was to buy you a birthday present, what would be the best gift they could buy you?

Beck:  That’s a hard one. I have all Taylor Swift’s albums. I got a nice house, a pickup and decent job, so I don’t need much. Not that it could happen, but havin’ Paul back among the livin’ would be the best present I could ever get.

Michelle:  Yes,  that would be a wonderful present for Riley too.

INTERVIEW WITH JANA OLIVER AUTHOR OF FORSAKEN THE DEMON TRAPPERS # 1

I would like to welcome JANA OLIVER author of 'Forsaken The Demon Trappers' , to Novels On The Run and thank her for taking the time to answer some questions and for writing such an exciting, gritty , awesome book with a wonderful character named, Beck.

Jana's 2nd book in 'The Demon Trappers' series , Forbidden will be released August 5th 2011. I highly recommend Forsaken, I absolutely loved it!!

I had a great time chatting with Jana, she is lovely and I look forward to reading more of her work. Currently there will be 3 books in the series.

INTERVIEW

Michelle : I am curious about the symbol on the front of Demon Trappers: Forsaken. What does it represent? I have my theories as it appears like 2 images in one to me. The cover for ‘Forbidden’, book # 2, looks like Riley is wearing the symbol on her back. I personally see Angel wings but also looks like a cloak and horns.

Jana: What the symbol means seems to depend on the person viewing it. I’ve heard folks say that it’s a demon with a cloak and horns (just as you did) or that it’s an angel (with cloak and halo). The “Riley wearing the wings” is rather cool, isn’t it? I’ll leave to your imagination as to exactly what that might mean (evil grin).

Michelle: I loved the Forsaken cover, book 1 (UK) with Elizabeth May as Riley. Gorgeous!! Is that Riley on the Forbidden cover, as it looks like a different model?

Jana: That is a different model. She pretty much captures where Riley is in Forbidden because it’s really difficult time for her.

Michelle: When will the 2nd cover for book 2 the US edition , titled ‘Soul Thief’ be released? I can’t wait to see it.

Jana: Very soon! I’ve seen it and it’s really cool. It uses about the same color blue as on the UK cover but has totally different feel. We get to see Riley's face this time!

( oooo Look at what I just found..oh happy joy..isn't it gorgeous!!! err .....sorry for the interview interuption, couldn't help myself)

Michelle: Where were you , and what were you doing when you first had the idea for Demon Trappers?

Jana: I was wandering around Oakland Cemetery, checking out that location. I walked into the Richards Mausoleum (it is the basis for the Blackthorne Mausoleum) and the story started spinning out in my head. I LOVE it when that happens.

Michelle :Are you able to give the readers, a short teaser quote from Forbidden?

Jana: Here’s a very brief Riley/Beck section from Forbidden. I chose carefully so as not to give anything away. The scene is set at the Six Feet Under (where the trappers hold their wakes).

Beck had been planning his move from the moment the funerals had ended. As Riley pulled into the pub’s parking lot, he hopped out of the car, hoping to avoid a confrontation. “Thanks, girl. Call when ya get to the church so I know yer safe.”

There was no way he could ignore the expression on Riley’s face. He knew it well enough; it promised defiance, so it wasn’t any surprise when she turned off the car, undid the seat belt, and climbed out. Beck watched her walk across the street toward the pub, her hair swinging back and forth, boots clicking on the pavement.

Ya shouldn’t be here. It wasn’t dangerous or anything, but it was a guy thing.

“We’re gonna get drunk, we’re gonna swear and tell a lot of war stories,” he called out. “That’s about it.”

Riley paused at the entrance to the Six Feet Under Pub and Fish House. “I know. Dad told me about these things.”

“It’s no place for a . . . girl.”

“But it is for a trapper,” she said, and left him standing there like a moron.

“Why do ya fight me on everythin’?” he snarled. He had no choice but to let her have her way. Dragging her out of there by the hair would just make both of them look stupid. © 2011 Jana Oliver

And this quote is actually from FORGIVEN (Book #3) so you get an early glimpse at that!

Beck closed his eyes to keep the dirt out of them and forced himself to relax. If he fought back, the demon hunter behind him might feel the need to put a bullet in his skull. I’ll be damned if I die like this. © 2011 Jana Oliver

Michelle: If you were a Demon Trapper would you be a Grade 1 or a Grade 3-5 kind of Trapper?

Jana: I’m probably a journeyman at this point, so I could trap up to a Grade Five (Geo-Fiend). No way would I go anywhere near an Archfiend. They are just totally evil.

Michelle: I noticed you have another series of books , ‘Time Rovers’ , a trilogy . Sojourn book # 1 , Virtual Evil book #2 and Madman’s Dance book # 3. The Demon Trappers series is written in the future, 2018 and Time Rovers series is written in the past, 1888 and the future 2057. Do you feel more comfortable writing in past and future? Do you think it gives you more freedom to explore your creativity?

Jana: I like to mess about with “what if?” sorts of questions and alternate time periods allow me more freedom to do just that. When I was writing a scene in 1888, I tried to keep it as accurate to the period as possible, but still I got to play with history and that’s great fun.

Michelle: I’m a HUGE fan of Denver Beck aka Beck aka Backwoods Boy. You have written him beautifully. Should Beck be worried about mysterious Ori popping up in Riley’s life?

Jana: Oh yeah, he should definitely be worried about dear mysterious Ori. Ori has his own agenda when it comes to Atlanta, Riley and the trappers.

Michelle: Could you please tell us Beck’s favourite 5 things?

Jana: Carrie Underwood and her music

          His truck

          South Georgia and Okefenokee Swamp

          Shiner Bock beer

          Momma Z’s barbecue

Michelle: What is your favourite thinking food?

Jana: Chocolate. The really good stuff, so that way I don’t eat too much of it.

Michelle: If you get stuck on a scene, what do you do to get the creative juices flowing again?

Jana: I listen to music, I tidy up the house, I do something that isn’t writing because then my brain will work through whatever is holding me back. It’s rather spooky how an author’s mind does that, actually.

Michelle: Will ‘Forbidden’ be in both Riley and Beck’s POV’s? I really enjoyed being in Becks head as well as Riley’s in ‘Forsaken’. Will we get to be in Simon’s head ?

Jana: We don’t get to see inside Simon’s head (alas) but we will be seeing the action from Riley, Beck and Ori’s point-of-view.

Michelle: Have you ever written yourself into a character in any of your books? If yes, which one?

Jana: No. I’m nowhere as exciting or emotionally screwed up as my characters. There are little parts of me in my characters, but for the most part they’re their own invention. They tell me who and what they are and I just write their stories.

Michelle: I have read that you are putting a proposal together for books 4-6 ( yippee) but are currently contracted to only 3 books in The Demon Trappers series. Marissa and I wish you all the best with that as I personally have my fingers crossed that it will get the green light , having read Forsaken and read the chapter extract for Forbidden ( at end of Forsaken) , it feels like the story is only just beginning to be told. ( that’s my enthusiastic comment for wanting more Beck...lol!!)

Jana: Here’s hoping I get the chance to tell more of their stories. That would be wonderful. I don't have any news to share on additional books yet, but I hope to have something to announce later this year.

Michelle: Thank you Jana, for taking the time out of your uber busy schedule to answer my questions, much appreciated. I REALLY enjoyed ‘Forsaken’ and look forward to ‘Forbidden’, and of course reading more about Beck , Riley, Simon and that mysterious Ori.

Congratulations on a wonderful start to your series and we at Novels On The Run, wish you all the best with it.

Soul Thief is being released in US August 30th 2011

*** Good News Here - Forbidden is being released in UK and Australia 5 August 2011

Jana: Thanks for having me,  bye!! I really enjoyed this.

Michelle: It was my most awesome pleasure:D
