BOOK REVIEW - GOLDEN TRAIL by KRISTEN ASHLEY - THE 'BURG # 3 - CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE

By: Kristen Ashley
Published By: Kristen Ashley
Released: Available Now
Details: Kindle purchase, 664 Pages

RATING: 4.25 LAYNE STARS!

Blurb: Goodreads

Tanner Layne and Raquel Merrick fell in love young, hard and fast and both of them knew a beautiful life they thought would be forever.

Until Rocky left Layne, no explanation, no going back.

Layne escapes The ‘Burg only to come back years later because his ex-wife has hooked herself to the town jerk and Layne needs to make sure his sons get raised right. Layne manages to avoid Rocky but when Layne gets three bullets drilled into him while investigating a dirty cop, he can’t do that because Rocky stops avoiding Layne. They make a deal to work together to expose the dirty cop but they have no idea the strength of their enduring attraction or the sheer evil at work in The ‘Burg.

As Tanner Layne and Raquel Merrick play their game and dance around the pull that draws them together, Layne has to discover the dark secrets buried so deep in Rocky’s heart she doesn’t even know they’re there at the same time untangle a sinister web of crime so abhorrent it has to be stopped... at all costs.

And to do it, Layne has to enlist everyone, including his ex-CIA mentor, Rocky’s detective brother, the town’s unpredictable informant and Layne’s two teenage sons all the while stopping Rocky from doing something crazy and keeping their game secret so Layne won't get himself dead.

BOOK REVIEW:

“Wounds to the flesh hurt but they heal fast. Wounds to the soul never go away. It’s how we cope with a pain that never dies that makes us the people we are. Daily, people demonstrate acts of courage just so they can get through the night.”

So without rehashing the story, in true KA style we have the alpha male lead, Tanner Layne—but he hates the name Tanner—and we have Rocky who left him eighteen years earlier, and they reunite.

Let the sexiness, alpha-erm-ness and more sexiness begin.

Layne has two sons: Jasper and Tripp. He has a relationship with them to rebuild and I really liked watching this happen. Jasper was a bit harder to break through to, but he came around.

Jasper and Tripp will truly be something when they get older. I feel a bit cougarish and a bit wrong thinking about them at their age now. Let these lads mature like a fine KA alpha.

Rocky is a great female lead. She is a really cool teacher, but she has some cobwebs in her closet that forced her to leave her true love—Layne.

There is of course the villain and a creepy sidekick. Throw in Ryker who sounds kinda scary, but he loves his woman and her daughter, so he goes all out to insert himself into Layne’s life and assist with the shit that is going down at the local church youth group.

Another great KA installment, although sometimes I feel these books could be many pages shorter due to a little repetitive dialogue.

Ty, Luke and Tack still have my heart, but I am still looking to add to this line-up of my #faveKAmen .

BOOK REVIEW:
Tack.

TACK!

I want me a Kane ‘Tack’ Allen.

GOOD LAWD!

I don’t think I even need to write a review.

Just read Motorcycle Man and meet Tack and Tyra.

Ty, Luke and Tack.

My top 3 KA men. All different; all lads go beyond the call of duty to make my toes curl.

Imagine these three in the same book—the same room.

GAHHHH!!!!

Panty melting moments.

I think I went a little gaga for Tack.

Nuff said.

Giddy up!

When he spoke, he did it softly. "You think, Red, right now, I put my hands and mouth on you in about two minutes you wouldn't be pantin' to be flat on your back, legs wide open in my bed?"

BOOK REVIEW - LAW MAN by KRISTEN ASHLEY - DREAM MAN # 3 - ADULT CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE - FOREVER

By: Kristen Ashley
Published By: Forever
Released: Available Now
Details: Netgalley from too long ago, 545 Pages

RATING: 4.5 MITCH STARS!

Blurb: Goodreads

Love is just around the corner . . .

Sweet, shy Mara Hanover is in love with her neighbor. For four years, she has secretly watched her dream man from afar. Handsome police detective Mitch Lawson is way out of her league. She's a girl from the wrong side of the tracks, and there's no way a guy like Mitch would want anything to do with her. But when Mara has a leaky faucet that she can't fix, it's Mitch who comes to her rescue.

Mitch has been eyeing his beautiful neighbor for a long time. He jumps at the chance to help her, and soon their formerly platonic relationship gets very hot and heavy. But when Mara gets a disturbing phone call from her cousin's kids, she gets pulled back into the life she's tried so hard to leave behind. Can the hot law man convince Mara to let go of her past-and build a future with him?

BOOK REVIEW:

Another KA book done and dusted.

Woot!

And didn’t Mitch Lawson live up to a KA man. That is not a question.

Of course he did.

To think it all started with a leaky faucet. *sigh*

Mara, oh, Mara, at first I didn’t know what to do with you and your rating system when clearly on the outside you were so much more. Your inner monologues were a little tough on the self-esteem levels, but we hang in there and learn why.

I loved all the sub characters—especially LaTanya and Elvira. When you need a chick to take charge, have your back, Elvira is there.

She pressed a button and muttered, “There.” Then she looked at me. “Right, so, quick, I mentioned Hawk. He’s a scary-ass, motherfucking commando. When I say that, I do not lie. So I’ll repeat, he’s a scary-ass, motherfucking commando. So, when your mind conjures up a vision of a commando, that’s Hawk. And Hawk likes kids. But he don’t like kids bein’ scared and bein’ used for bullshit family dramas. I tell him this, which, by the way, I’m totally tellin’ him this, even though he don’t know those kids, like, at all, he’s gonna to psycho badass, motherfucking commando. And the Trailer Trash Twins won’t know what hit ‘em.”

Hawk makes a couple appearances and I gotta say, I totally dug him more when he was all commando man in this book.

He was dangerous.

The good kind.

“Hi,” I breathed, and his eyes went from Gwen to me.

My breasts swelled.

“You Mara Hanover?” he asked.

“Yes,” I said, still breathy.

“You Lawson’s?” he asked.

“Absolutely,” I answered.

His mouth twitched. Then his eyes went back to his woman.

“So, you’re all shitfaced,” he observed, then finished, “or at least Mara is.”

“Nope, we all are,” Gwen replied airily, if a little slurred.

“Fantastic,” Hawk muttered, eyeing the intoxicated remnants of the girl gang and not hiding the fact he was not a big fan of dragging our drunk asses home. He then asked the table at large, “Can any of you walk, or do I have to carry you?”

I loved Mitch. I wanted to spend the rest of my life with Mitch. I wanted to make babies with Mitch. I wanted to grow old with Mitch.

But I also wanted this man called Hawk to carry me. I didn’t even care where he carried me. I just wanted him to do it.

And I was drunk enough to share this.

“I vote for being carried,” I announced, and Gwen, Elvira and LaTanya burst into more gales of laughter.

Hawk’s eyes came back to me and my heart fluttered. They moved over me and my legs started tingling.

Then they came back to my face. “Lawson see you in that dress?”

I nodded.

“Gave her the business before they came out,” Elvira volunteered. Hawk looked at her while she spoke, then he looked back at me.

When he did, I leaned in and up and whispered, “It was hot.”

His lips twitched again.

That was hot too.

Hot!

“Right,” he stated. “Seein’ as you’re hammered this might not penetrate, but I’ll say it anyway. You lookin’ like you do, wearin’ that dress and bein’ Lawson’s woman, he is not gonna want my hands on you. Unless, say, you were lookin’ like you do and filled with bullets. So, to keep your man happy, my advice is you should attempt to ambulate. You start to go down, I’ll catch you. Deal?”

Yowzer!

I really enjoyed the inclusion of a couple kidlets and watching a man like Mitch take control.

Very manly and in the moment.

I just glanced at a small part of a review which mentioned the audio book was a little hard when talking about Billy and Billie. I had not thought about that. I can see how that would be hard trying to work out who is who when listening when you can’t see the spelling. When Billy starts getting called, Bud, then that would be a relief. Things authors must think about when using names that sound the same for opposite sex. Fun to read in a book, though.

KA books are always addictive reads for me, I simply can’t get enough.

This was one of the quotes that really hit home for me. Made me think about how hubs and I are together. We know what the other likes, it might not be our thing, but we gel. He lets me feed my hungry soul and I in turn enjoy watching him get a good feed to his soul.

Totally dug this quote. Been together a couple decades and it shows why.

“No,” he said softly. “They love each other. They know what the other likes, they know what the other needs to feed whatever is hungry in their soul and they give it to them. At least Penny does but Evan does too with only a minimal amount of bitching.”

KA books are a bit of a rinse and repeat recipe, but I keep coming back for more, because I know there is a KA man waiting for me.

BOOK REVIEW - WILD MAN by KRISTEN ASHLEY - DREAM MAN # 2 - ADULT CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE - FOREVER

By: Kristen Ashley
Published By:  Forever
Released: Available Now
Details : Kindle, 528 Pages

RATING: 4.25 Brock Stars!

Blurb: Goodreads

She's about to walk on the wild side . . .
While filling the display case in her bakery, the bell over the door sounds and Tessa O'Hara looks up to see the man of her dreams. Within thirty seconds he asks her out for a beer. But after four months of dating, she discovers he's an undercover DEA agent-and he's investigating her possible role in her ex-husband's drug business. For Tess, this means their relationship is over.

Brock disagrees. He's committed to his anti-drug mission, but he's fallen in love with the beautiful woman who's as sweet as her cupcakes-and he'll do anything to win her back. Standing between Tess and Brock are their own exes, one of them a drug lord who's determined to get what he wants. Now as danger threatens, can Brock break the rules he's lived by and let loose his wild side to protect the woman he loves?

BOOK REVIEW:

Alrighty. Another KA book, done and dusted. Gotta say I was a little surprised at how Brock turned out after reading him in Mystery Man and not being overly keen on the lad, then.

Silly me.

Then again, Jake—with his motorcycle boots, his bike, his beat pickup, his old t-shirts that fit way too well, his faded jeans that fit better, his dark brown, longish, unruly hair, his silvery gray eyes that told a million stories without giving away a thing, his capacity to drink beer, down shots, eat hearty, howl at the moon and kiss so hard it was like he knew it was the last moment for every being on earth and he was going to make the most of it—was wild.

Did anybody else notice how long that sentence was?

Eh— who cares. Kristen had me at, ‘motorcycle boots’.

Loved this installment. Tess was a gorgeous character. One of Kristen’s older characters and I kinda forgot she was in her early 40’s—and for that matter—Brock was older.

These two kids, ( hehehe) could bring the smexy and the alpha and all-the-things-KA.

Once he had me settled, arm still firm around me, he said softly, “I am not a normal guy, Tess.”

Amen to that, sister.

Tess is an adorable character, she works hard and has a big heart. Brock is honest in his ways, his past and where he wants to be heading. He is alpha.

Elvira is such a spunky chick in this installment, I totally dig her.

Daisy and Shirleen, ( I love saying Shirleen out loud) make an appearance.

Some of the Hot-Bunch make an appearance…which is always a good thing.

Now, considering Hank was Lee Nightingale’s brother and Lee was Chavez’s best friend and Brock was working with Hector and Vance, two of Lee’s boys, not to mention he’d moved from the DEA to the DPD and paths were crossing, they’d come to an uneasy détente.

This is all I am gonna give you on them showing up. You gotta read the book to find out how Vance blended into the shadows and then revealed himself when he needed to. He was taking his job very seriously.

Onto my next KA adventure...

Blurb: Goodreads

Emme's always been the one; she excites Deck's body and mind like no other woman can. But a dark chapter from Emme's past overshadows their future together. Now only Deck can help her turn the page-if she'll let him . . .

BOOK REVIEW:

Emme and Deck.

Yum.

Sexy.

Sweet.

Rawrrrr.

“Met you twelve years ago and we’re just gettin’ here. I don’t call that fast. I call that a waste of fuckin’ time I’m about to rectify.”

Damn straight, Jacob!

“Have mercy,” she breathed, and he smiled.

“You’re kind of already getting those, baby, but you want an adventure, we’ll take it up a notch.”

Baziiiing!

The usual shenanigans do happen in this series and in a KA book in general including a lot of kidnapping.

“About Lauren getting kidnapped, stabbed and running for her life. About Lexie being kidnapped and nearly shot. And about Faye getting kidnapped and buried alive.”

And Nina too.

Yup, KA sure likes to have the women kidnapped from Colorado Mountain series, but it was nice to see her break that mold for this installment. I was beginning to figure if you got yourself a mountain man, it was only a matter of time before you got stalked and kidnapped.

Another wonderful escapism into KA’s world of hard won love and sexy times with a man we want to make our own, Deck is no exception.

Although I will still rugby tackle you for Luke or Ty.😊

About himself, and about the life he knows he's meant to live. So when he hears that Zara's having a rough time, he wants to be the one to help. In fact, he wants to do more than that for Zara. A lot more. But first, he must prove to Zara that he's a changed man.

BOOK REVIEW :

KA books have gotten me through some tough times this year, giving me that mental escapism where shit gets sorted and HEA is worth the struggle and everybody’s life gets back on track.

I simply had to finish 2016 off with starting Jagged on New Year’s Eve.

Party animal I am.

Reading a KA book there is always so much entertainment for me that I am partying, my way.

I met Reece in For You, The ‘Burg # 1. Handy tip, read this book first before Jagged so you got your February back story down and where Reece aka Ham fits into a part of that book. Then, you shall be good to understand what gets brought up in Jagged.

Zara is a very likable chick who falls on hard times. Ham has been in and out of her life for a long time.

Things are about to change…KA style.

Bring on the alpha, neck grabbing, sexy talking man with a side story of drama along the way.

Ham knows how to take charge and sort shit out, once he had his own shit sorted.

“A man is not what he says, babe. He's what he does.”

Ty Walker is still the guy to beat in this series, from Lady Luck, for me personally.

Another great read from the Colorado Mountain series.

BOOK REVIEW - AT PEACE by KRISTEN ASHLEY - THE BURG # 2 - ADULT CONTEMPORARY SUSPENSE ROMANCE

By: Kristen Ashley
Published By: Kristen Ashley

Details : Kindle, 660 Pages

RATING: 5 JOE PURRRRR STARS!

Blurb: Goodreads

She wants to deny it, but Violet can’t beat back the hunger she feels for Joe so she gives in again and again. Feeling it himself, Joe feeds Vi’s hunger, breaking his own rules to keep her in his bed.

Even though Violet had only one man in her life, she’s sure Joe is giving her the signals and Vi decides she’s ready to take a second chance at life and, maybe, love. But Violet doesn’t know the dark secrets in Joe’s past, secrets so soul-wrenching, they’ve drained him dry. Crushed by Joe’s betrayal, Violet comes to terms with the fact that, no matter what signals he gave, Joe was not theirs to win. But Violet’s husband’s murderer is obsessed with her and heartbreak again haunts the door of the Winters home. When it does Joe is forced to face the knowledge that he can’t fight Violet’s pull, she’s under his skin and filled him full to bursting.

Joe needs to win her back and put his life on the line to keep Violet safe. But, having had it all once, can Violet endure losing Joe?

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

Oh Joe Callahan, you made me purr, you also made me ball my fists and throw my Kindle, but you sorted yourself out in the end.

Standing behind me was a man, a big man, big in every way. He was tall, taller even than Tim and Tim had been six foot two. He was also broad. His shoulders in his black leather jacket were wide and unmistakably powerful.

And he’d been beautiful, once. It was plain to see, under what he was now, that his features had once been perfect, high cheekbones, an appealingly sharp slant to his square jaw, a strong brow. Now there were lines coming in arrays from his eyes and more around the sides of his frowning, full lips.

And there were also scars down his left cheek, two from about a quarter of an inch under his eye that curved over his high cheekbone coming closer together and ending where, if he had a dimple, his dimple would be. These scars were not puckered or disfiguring outside of the actual marks. They just marred the faultless male beauty that had once been his face, making it, with the addition of the lines, rugged and interesting and more than a little scary.

And that my friend is a KA man.

Throw in all the sexual, and you might just be needing a fan. I will admit I am such a hussy the way I keep swapping about my KA book boyfriends.

What’s a girl to do?

Without going over story line, ‘Burg # 2 had all the usual KA shenanigans with crazy murderous stalkers, biatches causing biatch issues with KA men. Sub characters popping up like Alec Colton and February and baby Jack, from ‘Burg # 1.

I mean dudes having Colt as your neighbour and Cal as your other neighbour...again what’s a girl to do. I know the neighbourhood would be action packed and maybe creeper photo worthy.

Violet and Joe have chemistry and woo...eee is it off the charts, but they also have Cal, being Cal...and other unmentionable women shaking their tail feathers in his face for a tickle.

*crosses arms, raises one eyebrow*

Yeah, I’m looking at you, Cal!

A KA book doesn’t not have a HEA, so fear not! This couple just needs to iron out a few things along the way.

It’s a bumpy ride, but oh what a ride.

Keira and Kate add a lot to this story. I loved watching Joe with them, when he was being Joe and not Cal, because Cal was kinda living in the past with some demons of his.

Throw in some Mafia relatives and BAM this book was rockin'.

Seriously, start with Rock Chick series, if you are still lacking in a KA read under your belt, and then go from there. I do see the benefit of reading in her KA reading order as there are crossovers and little spoilers if you simply pick up books willy nilly.

I am swinging back around to Jagged, Colorado Mountain # 5 next. I do space out my KA reads as they can be rather large books, but once I am snuggled inside one, I simply don’t want it to end.

Go forth!

BOOK REVIEW - MYSTERY MAN by KRISTEN ASHLEY - DREAM MAN # 1 - ADULT CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE - FOREVER

By: Kristen Ashley

Released : Available Now
Details: Paperback, 485 Pages

RATING: 4.5 YOWZA MEN STARS!

Blurb: Goodreads

The problem is, when Gwen gets a dose of Hawk's Alpha attitude in the daylight, she's not so sure he's the one anymore....

BOOK REVIEW:

When life gets a bit tough I bring out the big guns...Kristen Ashley.

I have been careful to space out her books so I can keep myself in a KA book when I need to be in a KA book.

I am a KA nerd and am reading in the KA order for the KA reading experience. I got me a bit carried away and should have gone to Jagged, Colorado Mountain # 5, since I made sure I got me some The ‘Burg # 1, For You, but Mystery Man paperback was looking all...well, Mystery Man on my bookshelf so Jagged had to wait.

Hawk...oh boy!

Now I gotta say this as a mamma...chicklets don’t be letting men into your bed, who you know nothing about and break into your home during your slumber to be giving you good sex...but, because this is fiction and Hawk is well...hawt and all kinds of everything...it is allowed...but not in real life. (Really bad long running sentence.)

I could gush about Hawk, aka Cabe Delgado, but you can read about him for yourself.

Now you might also get a little gushy abut Tack, Prez of the Chaos MC, and also a little girlie over Mitch Lawson...but we need to stay on track with Hawk, because he is the HEA, ladies, even though we can’t help it if our eyes stray.

Ohhh, they will stray.

Tack

He had salt-and-pepper hair, mainly pepper, black pepper, and it was long with a bit of wave but not too long or too wavy. Ditto with the pepper in his salt-and-pepper goatie that hung a bit long at his chin in a biker way that was mammoth cool. His cheeks were a couple days’ past needing a shave, which looked good on him too. He had spikes of pale radiating in the tan skin around his blue eyes.

There were only two words to describe all that was him : Biker yummy.

Mitch

In my doorway stood a man, a tall man, and there was nothing “ish” about how tall he was. He was just plain tall. He also had dark brown hair, dark brown eyes and a square jaw. His hair was thick. It curled a little around his neck and the collar of his leather jacket. His eyes were soulful. His jaw was strong. He was wearing a chocolate brown turtle-neck under his dark brown leather jacket, jeans, a great belt and boots. A badge hung on that great belt. I had no doubt he was on the cover of Men of the Denver Police Department calendar and I was going out first thing tomorrow to buy one.

Mmmmm... I need to regroup for a moment.

Then we get hit with the Mitch, Hawk and Tack combo and the heart is in a flurry over the alpha smexy.

Hawk got there first and his shades didn’t leave me when he stopped a few feet away.

“Babe,” he greeted, but his voice was kind of rumbly in a way that I didn’t suspect meant he was in a good morning mood.

“Hey,” I greeted back.

Lawson arrived, rounding Hawk so he could get a clear line of sight to me, but his shades swept Tack, his mouth tight, before they landed on me.

“Mornin’, Gewndolyn,” he greeted, ignoring Hawk and Tack.

“Uh, morning.” I greeted back.

“You sleep okay?” Lawson asked.

“Not really,” I answered honestly.

“Got a remedy for that,” Tack put in. Two pairs of shades sliced to him so mine did too. I saw he had his arms crossed on his chest and he was grinning.

Shit.

As this point, Hawk was done.

I knew this because he pointed a finger at Tack and then at Lawson saying, “You...you...talk.”

I figured he was the only person on the planet who could get away with doing something like that with those two guys.

Yup!

Yowza!

We have all sorts of shoot-‘em-ups in Mystery Man and alpha men, sexy moments (purrr) chick nights, angst, dramalama, more shoot-‘em-ups, Tack moments, Mitch moments...more dramalama...chick conferences...LEE!!! And the hot bunch...

Everything I need to put a warm blanket over me and keep me coming back for more is in a KA read.

Over and out.

RATING: 4.5 ALEC STARS!

But something happened and Feb broke Colt’s heart then she turned wild and tragedy struck. Colt meted out revenge against the man who brought Feb low but even though Colt risked it all for her, Feb turned her back on him and left town.

As the bodies pile up, The Feds move in and a twisting, turning story unravels exposing a very sick man who has claimed numerous victims along the way, Feb and Colt battle their enduring attraction and the beautiful but lost history that weaves them together.

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

“Life lands blows you don’t expect,” she whispered against his cheek.  “They wind you and there’s some you never get your breath back.”

I totally hear ya!

Colt and his Feb are two people brought back together by death and mayhem.

Twenty years since their break up.

Two years since she’s been back in town.

February has come home to help Morrie her brother run J & J’s, their parent’s bar unfortunately there’s a murderer in town and bodies are piling up.

Colt and Sully are on the case and none of Feb’s family are taking these deaths lightly because they are beginning to look a lot like they are linked in some way to Feb.

Colt is an alpha male and he will protect those that need protecting. Feb needs protecting and she needs to let him do his job.

But what happens when that job bleeds over into something else?

We get a whole pile of sexy alpha and a woman who has lost too many good years without Colt.

“I hope you didn’t have anything in there that was precious.”

Colt looked at her and said, “The only things precious in life breathe.”

Feb and Colt have a lot of things to talk about, things that could have saved them years of heartache.

A Kristen Ashley book seems to come with a villain hell bent on getting the woman the hero wants and that is no different for Colt and Feb’s story.

Colt ain’t having none of that.

“Colt smiled. “Damn, baby, look at me. I’m a forty-four year old man who’s got a life of breakfast delights waiting for him.”

She smiled back. It wasn’t bright but it was something. “Don’t think you don’t have to earn them.”

I really enjoyed this suspense filled read and look forward to At Peace with Joe and Vi.

Ally Nightingale has secrets. Secrets she doesn't even share with the Rock Chicks. But two men know what she's up to. One has her back. The other has her heart, but he doesn't know it.

As Ally rewinds the last year of her life, she knows two things. One, she’s never going to get what every Rock Chick should have—her own Hot Bunch guy. And two, she’s a Nightingale through and through. She just isn’t sure what to do about that.

But as her secrets are revealed, the men in her life react. Darius Tucker, a lifelong friend, as usual takes her back. Ren Zano, the man she loves, isn’t quite so sure. The Rock Chicks, Hot Bunch and the entire gang at Fortnum’s weigh in, and a Rock Chick Revolution starts brewing.

It’s up to Ally to control it and prove what she knows down to her bones.

She’s a Rock Chick, she deserves her hot guy and she’s going to keep the one she wants…

Because she’s a Nightingale.

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

Every Rock Chick book has been such a wonderful experience for me. They are the books you pick up when life is tackling you sideways. You can’t help but fall in love with all the Rock Chicks and their Alpha, neck grabbing, maximum contact men.

You will laugh out loud at Tex.

I really am gonna miss his character because he brought that booming, cranky, coffee making personality fully into the limelight when it was shone on him and then some. He was up for grenade throwing, gun totting and fist pounding in only the way Tex could.

“Can I get a coffee?” A man standing behind Mr. Kumar asked.

“Are you blind?” Tex asked back.

“Sorry?” the man queried.

Tex threw out a beefy mitt. “Don’t you see we’re havin’ a meetin’?”

The man looked back at Tex.” I thought you made coffee.”

“We do. We also fight crime. Don’t you read the papers?” Tex asked, and I heard Jet giggle.

I was right with her.

“Um...yes, but I didn’t know you did it when you were making coffee,” the man replied.

“Crime don’t happen when you want it to, “Tex returned. “You gotta be prepared. You gotta plan. And that’s why we’re havin’ a meetin’. Now shut it and wait until we’re done.”

He didn’t like boring.

“You were the shit,” Tex boomed, flicking the latch on the coffee grinder to fill the portafilter and doing it so hard the entire grinder shook. “It was fuckin’ frustratin’. Whole thing took, like, two seconds, and I only got one punch in on the motherfucker. Then he was down. Splat!

Rock Chicks aren’t boring.

Let me chat about Ren.

I watched his shadowy head shake before he stated, “Baby, you’re gorgeous. The way you wear a dress is goddamned foreplay. The way you give me everything and nothing, making you a challenge only a real man would accept, is all kinds of hot.

“My people are Italian, loud and fuckin’ crazy,” Ren whispered to me. “And still, your people beat mine by a mile.”

Ren is all things Hot Bunch worthy. He worketh his sexy-man thing. He neck grabs, kisses, maximum-sleep-contacts like the best of them.

Ally was maybe not my fave Rock Chick, but that is okay. I think I am totally blinded by the men, anyway.

I really enjoyed this whole series and feel kinda sad it is done and dusted for me now, but I know there is more to come in its own way and I am back on that KA reading order next week with For You, The Burg # 1. (I gotta say the cover art is a little erm, eye catching and a little freaky.) J

Rock on!

BOOK REVIEW - BREATHE by KRISTEN ASHLEY - COLORADO MOUNTAIN # 4 - ADULT CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE

Released : Available Now
Details : Kindle purchase, 554 Pages

RATING: 5 GOOD LAWD! STARS

There's nothing like the first time . . .

In Carnal, Colorado, Faye Goodknight is the town's quiet, shy librarian. She may also be Carnal's last remaining virgin. For years, Faye has had a crush on Chace Keaton, but the gorgeous cop has always been unattainable. She's resigned to live contentedly with only her books for company-until Faye suddenly meets Chace alone in the woods . . .

Chace doesn't think he's the good guy everyone believes him to be. He's made a lot of choices he regrets, including denying his feelings for Faye. Through his choices, he's come to believe the pretty librarian is too good for him, but after their time in the woods, Chace realizes that she may be his last chance for redemption. Soon, their long simmering desires grow to a burning passion. Yet always casting a shadow over their happiness is Chace's dark past . . .

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

It was wild. Abandoned. Rough. Wet. Intense. Fiery. Thorough. Exquisite. Heart-pounding. Blood-singing. Soul-rocking. Life-altering.

Luscious.

Yes. That was a Chace kissss.

Good Lawd!

I really don’t need to say anymore other than, Read this book.

I repeat.

Good Lawd!

Faye is just the most adorable librarian-geek with a HUGE heart. She loves Nathan Fillion, she loves books, she loves Chace and she wants to help a homeless boy.

In her outfit, Faye looked what she was. A native Colorado mountain girl who worked in a library and her native was native seeing as a line of her people had been there for thousands of years.

I gotta say after reading Ty’s book...oh my TyYyyYyy, I didn’t think Chace was gonna rock my socks off.

He rocked my everything off.

*whispers* Ty still has me totally naked though. ;) ( Lady Luck )

Okay some fun quotes because truly if you haven’t started reading any KA, get your butts to the reading order here and sort yourself out.

Kristen Ashley will always give us a town of sub characters who look out for each other.

Twyla and Krys. Bwahahahaa. They made me laugh. This is a kinda long quote, but it simply had to be highlighted.

“You think I walked five blocks in the Colorado Mountain March cold for no reason?” Twyla queried. “I’m a lesbian who can jack most motherfuckers up. I know non-lesbians who can do the same. You bein’ one of ‘em, I might add, though you do it with a shotgun in your hand. Same freakin’ thing. But bein’ a lesbian don’t make me not good at advice.”

I made a mental note of this and added Twyla to my phone tree for when I experienced a relationship emergency.

“I didn’t say that you weren’t,” Krystal retorted.

“Felt that way,” Twyla shot back, Krys’s eyes narrowed and she leaned in.

“Now you’re being sensitive. I’ll remind you, Faye called me," Krys stated.

“Maybe so, but when there’s a problem, it’s all hands on deck,” Twyla returned.

Krystal had no retort, looked stymied and also looked angry that she was. Not unusual, just scarier than normal.

I decided to wade in. “Just an FYI,” I said to Twyla. “I’ve added you to my relationship emergency phone tree.”

Twyla grinned huge at me.

“Great,” Krys muttered. “I finally get my shot, I get bumped because Twyla horned in.”

I blinked at Krystal because she sounded genuinely aggrieved.

It then hit me that Krystal Briggs had let me in. Not like she had Chace. In in. She cared about me. She wanted to help. I was past the hard outside layer that kept everyone out and was in the soft warm center.

This town, although it does come with its villains who like to do some dastardly things, it also comes with such colorful characters such as Dominic and Shambles.

Faye and Chace’s heads jerked to behind them where Dominic, the owner of the local hair salon, was shouting, “Immediate impeachment!”

Their heads jerked back to the front to see Shambles standing two benches in front of them, yelling, “Dudette, know this, I have the right to refuse service and never thought I’d do that to anyone in my life. But starting now, you can get your cappuccinos and chunky peanut butter cookies somewhere else! Talking about Crimson Stargazer like that when she’s finally found a hot guy boyfriend is just...plain...wrong but it’s also serious mean.”

I'm not gonna ramble on about the story, it is a KA recipe of Alpha hotties, shenanigans, villains, friendships and hot sex and luuurve making.

Oh and Deck can't go without a mention. His book is Kaleidoscope. Giddy Up! I think I have three books to read until I can get to that one...due to the KA reading order. * face plant *

According to the KA order I can now swing back around to Rock Chick Revolution , coz' we get a little surprise in Breathe and I got all bouncy when it popped up.

Reason why one must read in the KA order if one doesn't want surprises spoiled.

Happy KA reading everyone.

Can he and Lexie find a way to escape the past?

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

I had to take a night to calm down after reading Lady Luck.

Why do you say?

Ty Walker would be the answer.

Oh MyYyyYyyYy.

He was huge. Huge. I’d never seen a man that big. He had to be six foot five, six foot six, maybe even taller.

His shoulders were immensely broad. The wall of his chest was just that. A wall. His hips were narrow, his thighs enormous. He was muscle from neck down, pure, firm, defined muscle. I saw it through his skintight black T-shirt, his tattooed arms, his jeans that tightened on his thighs as he moved.

His hair was black and clipped short on his head another tat drifted up his neck.

His jaw was square and strong. No stubble. Clean-shaven. His brow was heavy, his eyebrows black, arched and thick but the left one had a line through it, a scar that matched the smaller one under the eye.

But this scar did nothing, not one thing , to mar his utterly perfect features. Strong, straight nose. High, cut cheekbones. Full lips. His eyes were shaped like almonds, turned slightly down at the sides and ringed, even when he was the width of my car away, I could still see, by thick, curling black lashes.

Kristen Ashley out did herself with Tyrell Walker.

Good Lawd the man is pure mountain and pure sex.

Ty was jeans and tees but he was also suits and cufflinks so I knew his hometown could be anything.

“He may drink beer but that boy was pure champagne.”

I love my hubby, but that’s the beauty of fictional lads, we can all get girlie over them. No harm.

Ty loves his mama, and it ain’t his mother.

“My Lexie beams bright and she can do that shit even in her sleep.”

“Mama, I’m not hip on the goings-on at the local salon. Think, to be a Steel Magnolia, you gotta have a pussy.”

What can I really say about this book other than...READ IT!!!

Now you could crash your way through and jump straight to Colorado Mountain # 3, and you could, just to get to Ty Walker, but Tate and Max and the ladies all pop up in this one and you meet them in #1 and # 2.

But he’s worth jumping the queue for.

And then there is Samuel Sterling...he tickled my fancy too.

Angel Pena is gorgeous.

Seriously, what didn’t I like?

Nothing.

Nada.

Nil.

It was all such a sexy, manly packed read that I need to fan myself for a while before I launch myself into Chace and Faye’s book, Breathe.

I simply love I can binge on a KA book whenever I like as I am that far behind.

I am a stickler for reading orders ( NERD ) so I am chuggling along nicely in the best reading order.

http://www.kristenashley.net/titles/reading-order/

Seriously I have to keep reading this list so I can work out where I am at as you will understand when you read how KA explains her best reading order.

Hehehe . :)

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

I’m addicted to KA and the reading order of her books.

Well to be honest I am a slave to her reading order.

This book nerd is doing it all in order.

Sweet Dreams is another thick book filled with sexy times, one hell of a sexy alpha male and a heroine that gets under his skin.

Let the shenanigans begin.

There were a whole lot of sexy times while that deathly side story was playing out.

Kristen Ashley really does write it her way and be damned the extra pages filled with clothing descriptions and food you want to sample, because she reels you in with her man bait.

Tate is said man bait.

Alpha Tate, rides a bike, (although not a biker in a club) is a three way partner in a biker bar, Bounty Hunter, ex football star in the making and much more.

Tate has one hell of a dialogue in this book.

Rawrrrrr.

Woods was tickling my girlie fun bags too.

I could waffle about the story, but let’s face it, when it comes to a KA book that was self published in 2011...I’m one of a long list already throwing up reviews and stars. My words really have no impact at this stage.

The woman is a star.

She works it her own way.

She simply rocks it.

This was a solid 4.5 STARS for me.

If you haven't picked up a KA book...dude...what are you thinking?

Next up on the KA Road Trip is Lady Luck.

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

I am admittedly being uber nerdy and reading according to the Kirsten Ashley reading order, so The Gamble was next up on my list.

I take KA book reading seriously.

These are all bricks of books so I have gotten up to Rock Chicks # 7 knowing I have to hold out on #8 ( according to the reading order experience) until I get some Colorado Mountain under my belt.

So I went and met Holden Maxwell aka Max.

“Because I’ve seen you naked. I’ve seen you sweet. I’ve seen you unsure. And I’ve seen you riled and, seein’ all that, I know, you were half a world away from me, I’d fuckin’ phone.”

“If you told me you needed a timeout, first, I wouldn’t fuckin’ let you have one. Second, I wouldn’t give you a reason to fuckin’ want one. And last, you took off anyway, I’d fuckin’ phone.”

“Not gonna fuck you, honey, just fool around,” he whispered back.

“Max –“

“Shut up and kiss me, Duchess.”

“Max!”

“All right, I’ll kiss you.”

Nuff said!

Rawrrrrr.

Max is one pretty amazing book boyfriend.

Read this book.

Meet Max and Nina and the sexy shenanigans that go on.

Meet Brody, Mindy, Becky, Arlene, Jimmy Cotton, the mean ones (you’ve always gotta have a couple of those stirring trouble).

I will admit there was a scene or two where I had a girlie moment, but then I had a real girlie moment at the end.

Dayum.

There was so much fictional escapism in this book for me. From his A-Frame in the Colorado mountain with snow and the Bluff to those in bed moments where he just wanted to tug her up against his chest and not let go.

Dayum.

If you have read at least one KA book namely a Rock Chick book, you know what type of recipe she uses, so you are gonna meet a group of characters, there will be shenanigans and men that will make you wanna howl at the moon.

Go get yourself some Rock Chick and now some Colorado Mountain men because KA doesn’t muck about when she presents these hard lovin’ men to us.

Hell yeah!

Sweet Dreams is up next. I gotta clear the schedule for another bad ass thick brick of a read.

I sure got me a list to catch up on.

If you've not read one KA book yet...seriously, dudes, get on it!

I am serious about recommending a KA read. :)

BOOK REVIEW - ROCK CHICK REGRET by KRISTEN ASHLEY - ROCK CHICK # 7 - CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE SUSPENSE

By: Kristen Ashley
Published By: Kristen Ashley
Released: Available Now
Details : Paperback from library, 480 Pages

RATING: 5 HECTOR YOU SO SURPRISED ME STARS!

Blurb: Goodreads

Sadie Townsend is known by all as The Ice Princess and she’s worked hard to earn her reputation. Her father, a now-incarcerated Drug Lord, has kept her under his thumb her whole life and she’s learned enough from living in his world to give everyone the cold shoulder. But one inebriated night, she shows the Real Sadie to the undercover agent she knows is investigating her father, the handsome Hector Chavez, and he knows he’ll stop at nothing to have her.

Hector makes one (huge) mistake; he waits for Sadie to come to him. Tragedy strikes and Sadie’s got a choice, she can retreat behind her Ice Fortress or she can embrace the Rock Chick/Hot Bunch World. Guided by Hector, the Rock Chicks, the Hot Bunch and her new gay roommates, Buddy and Ralphie, Sadie negotiates a life out from under her father’s thumb, a life that includes poison, arson and learning how to make s’mores.

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

Ok so where do I start?

HECTOR is where I start.

Now I do love me Luke... but WOW, there was something simply wonderful and manly and toe curling about Hector and his Sadie handling... * sigh*

Double H.

Hispanic Hottie.

Mamita,” his voice was rough with what sounded like laughter and something else altogether,” you think you could handle my mouth between your legs without freakin’ out?”

Yowzer! * grabs fan *

Hector wasn’t at all what I was expecting from our previous meet ups where he has popped up in this series.

Oh baby, he was so much more.

Then he said, “I’ll give you time. You’ve been through hell, but when the time is right, I’m gonna pull her out.”

Hector was indeed in the words of Ralphie a Hispanic hottie.
I totally love Ralphie and Buddy.

Totally!

I love me an endearment and we get some Spanish ones.

Mamita.

Preciosa.

Mi Corazon.

Mi cielo... *sigh*

Shenanigans were shenanified in all their glory in this instalment.

I’ve never watched one...single...episode of Veronica Mars.

I KNOW!!

Now I wanna.

I also want me a s’mores.

“Fuckin’ A, woman. You’ve never had a s’more?” he boomed.

I shook my head.

“Christ, everyone’s gotta have a s’more before they die. Fuck that shit, I’ll build a fire in my backyard tonight and I’ll stop by Kumar’s on the way home to get the stuff. Everyone can come by –“

Tex!! I SO love it when he enters the story line because he is sure to amuse me.

“You make good coffee,” Tex replied.

I pushed New Sadie, though from his reply I wasn’t sure she was working for me. “Not like you. You’re a master.”

“Well, darlin’, you think I make good coffee, why the fuck haven’t I seen you at the store?” he asked.

“I—“

“Bullshit,” he interrupted me before I even got started.

Before I could think, my eyes narrowed. “What do you mean ‘bullshit’? You didn’t even hear what I had to say.”

“Whatever it was, it was gonna be bullshit,” Tex shot back.

It was then I heard Buddy laughing from beside me, and I decided to stay silent. Really, what else could I do? This guy was crazy.

Tex turned to Buddy. “Who’re you?” he demanded to know.

“I’m Buddy, Sadie’s friend.” Buddy put out his hand.

Tex took it. They shook, then Tex’s blue eyes turned to me. He leaned in then down, grabbed my hand and started dragging me across the bar.

Yes, dragging me across the bar.

“Excuse me!” I said to his back, trying to pull my hand from his and not succeeding.

He looked back at me but kept walking as people jumped out of his way. “Tonight, you sit by me.”

“But –“

“No lip!” he boomed as he led us to the Rock Chick table.

Oh blooming heck.

First, Tex leaned into me when the second song began and boomed into my ear, “If there’s a shootout or somethin’, you stick with me.”

“V...I...fuckin’...P!” Tex boomed the minute Shirleen, Daisy, Hector and I walked into Fortnum’s Used Bookstore ( Buddy was at my apartment with the “lab boys”).

Indy and a big, gray-bearded, long-gray-hair-in-a-ponytailed man wearing a black T-shirt that demanded you “Ride the Range” and a black leather vest with a rolled red bandana on his forehead were standing behind the counter.

Tex and Jet behind the espresso counter. Ally was clearing coffee mugs from the seating area.

“You!” Tex boomed, pointing at the people innocently sitting on the couch in front of the big, glass window at the front of the store. “That’s VIP seating. Up! Move!”

And then there is Ren Zano.

He was followed, to my horror, by the tall, handsome, dark-haired Ren Zano wearing a tailored suit ( and wearing it really well by the way). This making me acutely aware that I was wearing nothing but Hector’s t-shirt and a pair of dove grey satin panties, which, luckily, you couldn’t see as the shirt hung to mid-thigh.

Giddy up next book up is Ren's! But according to the KA order of readin' I gotta read Colorado Mountain first including Breathe, mix that in with For You from the Burg Series before Jagged in Colorado Mountain and then I am good to go with Rock Chick Revolution.

Me being me, I want the WHOLE KA reading experience in the order they cometh without spoilers.

Oh...and I get to meet her this weekend at RWDU15 on the Gold Coast.

Huzzah!!! I promise not to yell out Tex quotes across the room.

Lordy if any of you lot have not started this series...BLOODY HELL !! Get on with it, you won't be disappointed.

Like dudes, we are talking the Hot Bunch here, people!!

Michelle
