BOOK REVIEW: HIGH VOLTAGE by KAREN MARIE MONING - FEVER WORLD # 10 - DELACORTE PRESS - URBAN FANTASY

By: Karen Marie Moning
Published By: Delacorte Press
Released: Available Now
Details: Hardback from the library, 480 Pages

RATING: 6 STARS! ALL THE STARDUST STARS

Blurb: Goodreads

There is no action without consequence…

Dani O’Malley was nine years old when the delusional, sadistic Rowena transformed her into a ruthless killer. Years later, she’s tough, hardened, yet achingly vulnerable and fiercely compassionate, living alone by her own exacting code. Despite the scars on her body, driven by deeper ones carved into her soul, no one is more committed to protecting Dublin. By day, she ensures the safety of those she rescues, by night she hunts evil, dispensing justice swiftly and without mercy, determined to give those she cares for the peace she has never known.

There is no power without price…

When the Faerie Queen used the dangerously powerful Song of Making to heal the world from the damage done by the Hoar Frost King, catastrophic magic seeped deep into the earth, giving rise to horrifying, unforeseen consequences–and now deadly enemies plot in the darkness, preparing to enslave the human race and unleash an ancient reign of hell on Earth.

There is no future without sacrifice…

With the lethal, immortal Ryodan at her side, armed with the epic Sword of Light, Dani once again battles to save the world but her past comes back to haunt her with a vengeance, demanding an unspeakable price for the power she needs to save the human race and no one—not even Ryodan who’d move the very stars for her—can save her this time…

BOOK REVIEW:

“Keep the light shining in your heart; death is a hungry darkness.
It wants to swallow us.
You’re different and will always be misunderstood
— never let that touch you.
You’re a terribly real thing in a terribly false world.”

Be still my heart.

This book was ALL the stars for me and then some.

Just lay on your back under a clear sky and look up, and that is how many stars.

Ryodan and Dani… I love them.

I've loved them so hard since Iced.

I got so upset when Burned wasn’t about Ryodan and Dani—but, I got over it. I didn’t realize until I was heavily into the book and my dynamic duo were hidden under Mac and Barrons.

This book was everything.

The emotions.

I kissed him with the rainbow-colored shattered hopes and dreams of a child betrayed in ways too damaging and numerous to count, and I kissed him with the yearning to be the one making joy blaze from his eyes.

The deeper layers.

“Ah, Dani,” he said tightly, “you beat me. You tell me what to do. I seem to have forgotten which of us is the man. Perhaps you need a reminder.”

Finally, Ryodan and Dani.

The second thing baffles me. I often feel like crying. I’ve wept on his flawless, crisp shirts more times than I care to remember.

“Because I understand,” he murmured, staring down at me with those glittering silver eyes. “And I can take it. I wasn’t sure about the happiness, though. Nice of you to clear that up.”

“What part of ‘stay out of my head’ didn’t you understand?”

“Your face, Dani. Everything you feel is on it. I rarely need to delve deeper.”

“Ah, Dani.” Ryodan touched my cheek, brushing a stray curl back and tucking it behind my ear. “Men can be bloody bastards. But not all of them. Don’t let it shut you down. Be fearless. Don’t be afraid to fall. Taste it all.”

Dani has so much heart to give. I adore reading her. I loved her fourteen-year-old self in Iced, and I loved her more in High Voltage.

So cool finding out Ryodan’s full name. Totally suits him.

Christian. So glad to see you again. I can see more storyline opening up from what we are shown in this book.

"Scotland is enchanting. And now I know why angels have wings. It's their reward."

Dancer, and his Mega. *sniffles*

I was faltering a little with my enthusiasm for this series since Burned, probably because I felt burned by Dani and Ryodan disappearing after Iced and being replaced again by Mac storyline. This book made up for it. The writing is superb. The ‘feels’ will stab at your heart.

“Never. Tell. Me. I. Don’t. Care. You can fling any insult you want at me, but not that one. Never that one.”

A quote that hit my heart deep.

“Prolonged grief is self-mutilation; a blade you turn on yourself. It doesn’t bring them back and only keeps you trapped in misery.”

Very hard to find that off switch.

I need more Dani and Ryodan. There are so many secrets to discover within High Voltage, and they will make your heart hurt and fly.

I highly recommend this book. Simply amazing storyline.

BOOK REVIEW: CONSPIRACY IN DEATH by J.D. ROBB - IN DEATH # 8 - CONTEMPORARY CRIME - PIATKUS

By: J.D. Robb
Published By: Piatkus
Released: Available Now
Details: Paperback from library, 459 Pages

RATING: 5 6 ROARKE & PLOT STARS!

Blurb: Goodreads

In the late 21st century, on the streets of New York City, a street sleeper is found murdered, his diseased heart removed with surgical precision. His death would typically drop to the bottom of a list of senseless and inexplicable killings, but Lieutenant Dallas, who "would stand for the dead and the living," is not about to let that happen.

When her research uncovers similar crimes in several cities that were dropped under mysterious circumstances, Dallas knows she's facing a killer cruel enough to prey on the weakest in society and powerful enough to conspire an extensive coverup.

To complicate matters further, Dallas faces an equally troubling threat to her career when she's linked to the death of a fellow cop. Now she must fight to restore her good name as well as track down the killer.

BOOK REVIEW:

6 STARS!!! And I don't often hand those out.

This was my FAVE book thus far in the series. I do love them all, but this one was that little bit more.

Organ harvesting is not a fun topic, but this was the path Eve was on with her faithful sidekick, Peabody, as they worked the case of the displaced (homeless) people on the streets who are killed for their not so healthy organs.

I can’t express how much I love Roarke, he really is one hell-of-a-guy and I keep getting Christian Grey in my head whenever I imagine him, but with long black hair. Dude is drool worthy and always comes through for Eve, even when she doesn’t want him on the case.

They made an interesting picture: Roarke, sexy and elegant in suave black tie; Eve, long and lanky in her copper column; and Mavis, in a silver dress that looked wet to the touch and faded into transparency a wink below her crotch, while a temporary tattoo of a grinning lizard slithered up her right thigh.

I really enjoyed the injection of the ‘troublemaker’ in this instalment, just to add a little more to Eve’s plate. She was a doozey of a character.

Watching Summerset and Eve have a moment where they are both at odds with their normal behavior with each other was a little emotional. See, Summerset isn’t heartless towards Eve, he just likes to play it that way. I think by now he knows she's not a money hungry woman looking for an easy ride in life.

Watching Roarke handle Eve when she needs him most, cements in my mind farther how suited these two are for each other.

Yup! There was a lot of depth to this instalment and the case to solve came with a more complicated plot, and that I really enjoyed.

J.D. Robb aka Nora Roberts really has a smashing hit on her hands with this über long series. I’m in for the long haul. I’m beginning to lag a little with enthusiasm for Stephanie Plum series (I’m at Explosive Eighteen #18), because nothing really changes. The In Death series really brings it all. I know they are chalk and cheese as far as seriousness, but it would be nice for a little depth with Steph and the gang.

I highly recommend In Death series, it is clever (even though sometimes the cases to solve are a little too easy), sexy, the characters are mature and can be funny and serious. Roarke is really exceptional, I think.

I have read Loyalty In Death, finished it this morning and this one is still my fave.

Time to reserve a couple more from the library. This is a series I will definitely invest in paperbacks for my personal shelves.

RATING: 6 JETHRO STARS!

Blurb: Goodreads

“She healed me. She broke me. I set her free. But we are in this together. We will end this together. The rules of this ancient game can’t be broken.”

Nila Weaver no longer recognises herself. She’s left her lover, her courage, and her promise. Two debts down. Too many to go.

Jethro Hawk no longer recognises himself. He’s embraced what he always ran from, and now faces punishment far greater than he feared.

It’s almost time. It’s demanding to be paid.

The Third Debt will be the ultimate test...

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle :

“You’re not worthless.

If you show me the goodness inside you,

I can prove you’re priceless.”

I am gonna put it out there and state that this was a 6 out of 5 STAR read for me.

FARK ME!

The things Pepper puts my mind through...and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

When I pick up one of her dark romance series, I know without a doubt I’m gonna be in for the ride of her mind.

This installment was such a rich read for me and the things we discover and the TENSE moments and the OMG moments and the FARKKKK moments.

It has it all.

I wanted to wring Nila’s neck at one stage, but Pepper wanted to torment me some more so out of the ashes and into a forest fire we go.

“If a guardian angel had told me this would happen. If they’d come to me the night before you stole me and explained the atrocities I would live through, I would still have come with you.”

I think I need a heart monitor on when reading the next installment.

There was one character in here...crikey did I need to fan myself...the scene was written...O.M.G.

LORDY!

Lips are sealed, can say no more.

Cut you are one hell of a villain and Daniel, you aren’t far behind.

Oh and loving the new introduction to... well, I can’t say.

Huzzzah!!!

I can’t say anything of the story line for fear of robbing the next reader of the experience, you just simply gotta pick up some Pepper and be fair warned, she likes to turn the shiz up an extra few notches the more she writes.

Don’t be fooled if you catch a glimpse of her on facebook sitting out in the sunshine on a hay bale. She is writing devious things.

Well done Miss Pepper.

Take a bow.

“Love is something that strikes without warning to the most unsuspecting. It’s a fucking gift and so goddamn priceless, but only the worthy realise what they have. Only the ones truly deserving fight every fucking day to treasure it. And those who don’t... they end up alone.”

Michelle

GIVEAWAY

HOW HAD THIS happened?

Where did it all go so wrong?

Jethro was supposed to love me. I was supposed to love him.

Yet he’d given me over to his family. He’d bound the ropes, blindfolded my eyes, and gifted me to his kin.

“Know what time it is, Nila Weaver?” Daniel breathed in my ear.

I jerked away. The restraints around my body meant I couldn’t run, couldn’t fight; I couldn’t even see.

Oh, God.

Please don’t let them do this.

I wanted to scream for Jethro to save me. I wanted him to put an end to this and claim me once and for all. Didn’t our connection mean anything?

You know it’s all different now.

Ever since I’d returned to Hawksridge Hall, things had been different—horribly, horribly different.

The fire crackled in the billiards room where the Hawk men had been playing poker. The air was hot and muggy and laced with cognac fumes.

Tonight, I’d had plans to end whatever changed between Jethro and me forever.

But now…those plans had changed.

Kestrel ran his fingers over my collar. “Relax, little Weaver. It will all be over soon.”

Cut chuckled. “Yes, soon you can go to sleep and pretend none of this happened.”

My ears strained for one other voice. The voice of the man who controlled my heart even though he’d thrown it back in my face.

But only silence greeted me.

Daniel snickered, licking my cheek. “Time to pay, Weaver.”

Someone clapped and in a voice full of darkness and doom said, “It’s time for the Third Debt.”

TWO MONTHS PRIOR...

I shook my head, my heart smarting with pain. “What happened to you?” I reached for him, wanting to clutch his forearm and reassure myself that our bond was still there.

With a sneer, he sidestepped, staying out of reach. “What happened to me?” Smiling coldly, he made me seem as if I were some idiot child asking for the universe’s secrets. “I got better. That’s what happened to me.”

“I don’t—I don’t understand. You weren’t ill.”

“You wouldn’t understand. No one can understand another’s problems. All you need to know is that I’m cured and I won’t make the same mistakes again.”

I took a step back, goosebumps scattering over my body. “Don’t say that. I’m in love with you. Something like that cannot be undone—”

“Love is a chemical imbalance, Ms. Weaver. I am no longer imbalanced.” He came closer. “Don’t get cold feet on your invitation. You promised you would come, and you don’t want to give me a reason to punish you so soon…do you?”

My skin pinpricked with panic. That sentence should’ve dripped with eroticism. But it wasn’t. It was cold…lifeless…like him.

Snapping his fingers, Jethro held out his hand. He kept his digits curled slightly so I couldn’t see the tattoo marks on the tips. “Come. I want to be back at Hawksridge before sunrise.”

Nila dropped the jumper onto the desk, cupping her breasts. “Does this count as acceptable to you?”

I couldn’t breathe.

Everything I’d been running from made my head pound, my cock beg, and the drugs in my system to fucking disintegrate.

What was it about her? Why did she have this control over me? And why was I utterly, ridiculously helpless around her?

God fucking help me.

Didn’t she know the more she antagonised me and made me slip, the more likely Cut would give her to Daniel and fucking slaughter me in my sleep? I wanted to strike her—hammer the precariousness of our situation home.

“Why did you bring me here?” she murmured, skirting the desk.

I couldn’t tear my eyes away from the hard pinpricks on her chest. She couldn’t be cold—not in this furnace. That meant she was turned on.

My mind instantly went to one question. Is she wet?

“Kes told you. Our secrets are now yours.”

“I don’t think that’s the only reason.” Closing the distance, she licked her bottom lip. “I think you wanted me off the estate, so you could have me without anyone seeing.” Her voice layered with sex and invitation. “You wanted me away from the cameras, so you could drop the act and show me the truth.”

Fuck.

I cleared my throat. “What truth?”

“That all of this is a lie. That you’re still the man I fell for—playing the same game you said you were sick of before I left.”

Shaking my head, I tried to clear my thoughts. “You’re once again delusional.” Swallowing hard, I ordered, “Go down to the sorting floor. I have a meeting to take care of—”

“No,” she breathed. “I’m not going anywhere until you stop being an asshole and show me the real you.” Closing the final distance, she stood beside me, crackling with mischief and lust.

Locking eyes, she undid the button and zipper of her jeans. “Don’t hide from me, Jethro. I can’t stay strong if you cut me out.”

My legs bunched to push the swivel chair backward. One heave and I could launch myself free and run from her web. But somehow, I couldn’t. I remained tethered in place; breathing fast, fear swamping my lungs.

She grabbed my wrist. “Don’t fight it. You can’t fight the inevitable.” Without a word, she pressed my hand into her trousers.

By: Jennifer L. Armentrout
Published By: Entangled Publishing

Details : Paperback from library, 364 Pages

RATING : 6 YEHAAA STARS!!

Blurb: Goodreads

Daemon will do anything to get Katy back.

After the successful but disastrous raid on Mount Weather, he’s facing the impossible. Katy is gone. Taken. Everything becomes about finding her. Taking out anyone who stands in his way? Done. Burning down the whole world to save her? Gladly. Exposing his alien race to the world? With pleasure.

All Katy can do is survive.

Surrounded by enemies, the only way she can come out of this is to adapt. After all, there are sides of Daedalus that don’t seem entirely crazy, but the group’s goals are frightening and the truths they speak even more disturbing. Who are the real bad guys? Daedalus? Mankind? Or the Luxen?

Together, they can face anything.

But the most dangerous foe has been there all along, and when the truths are exposed and the lies come crumbling down, which side will Daemon and Katy be standing on?

And will they even be together?

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

Things went from bad to craptastic in a matter of seconds.

I am on a Lux high after reading this installment. From the very first page this book took off at the speed of Daemon in his natural form.

The story line glowed as bright as the Luxen in their alien form.

I didn’t want this book to end.

It was told from both Katy and Daemon’s pov’s and I LIKED IT! I loved being in Daemon’s head.

The pages turned.

The sub characters were brilliant.

The smexi scenes... well, let’s just say, Jennifer turned up the heat.

My gaze fell to the box and then went back to him. “Confident, aren’t you?”

“I’d like to call it being prepared for any occasion.”

Rawrrrrr!!!

I laughed.

Why in the world did humans think aliens looked like a whacked-out Gumby?

I felt sad.

In my review for Opal I said how Daemon wouldn’t have sat back like Dawson was made to in Opal. Patience is a virtue and all that rubbish.

I was right!

Daemon was not going to let ANYTHING stand in his way of getting to Katy.

NO SIR!

He has laid his cards on the table and he is all in.

Jennifer throws everything at Daemon and Katy.  Daedalus like to experiment. Some visuals in my head were a bit naassty.

As much as it pains me to say, I was personally left feeling a bit neutral , with Opal # 3, in parts. Yeah, I know a lot of readers gushed, but I thought it was a little less exciting than the other books in the series. But, Origin swooped in and rectified that for me.

It was A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.

Just everything about it blew me away.

Daemon was back, he was all loved up bringing a bag full of smart ass comments and he brought his A Game with his love for Katy.

Hunter made a deep noise. “Our little mutual white flag of friendship is going to come to a halt if you tell me to shut up again.”

I spared him a brief glance. “Shut. Up.”

I caught the tear with a kiss. “And I’m not going to let you do this by yourself. You’re my - you’re my everything, Kat.” At the sound of her soft inhale, I smiled again. “Come on, Kitten, did you really expect anything less from me? I love you.”

“Well, aren’t you just a special snowflake,” Daemon murmured.

“That I am.”

Baby, I’m so far up the ladder there aren’t any pegs under me to be knocked down.”

Luc, is such a fave character of mine because he is quirky. He really has his own stand out voice in this book. He has some great lines. He is holding his cards close to his chest.

Luc moved to the center of the floor. “I don’t have all day, guys. I have things to do. A nap I want to take this afternoon. There’s a new movie out on Netflix I want to watch, and a goddamn coupon for a free Whopper Jr. that’s calling my name.”

“Blake is... well, he’s Blake. But before you cast judgment, ask yourself how many people you’d crucify to get Katy back?”

“You’re not the only aliens out there who are butt sore. There are bigger problems than what you guys have. Yeah, I know, hard to believe.”

I glanced over at Hunter, who shrugged again and said, “Someone didn’t get his warm milk this morning.”

“How did you get out, Luc?”

He tilted his head to the side. “You don’t want to know what I did. And you won’t do what I did.”

A cold shiver crawled over my skin. I believed the kid.

“Me and Katy look adorkable in extraterrestrial highway shirts. You would just look stupid.”

Archer, I just love the guy. I keep singing in my head the Martin Gaye song, ‘Let’s get it on,’ when I think of him and another character. Not sure why, lol! Here’s hoping. Me thinks it will happen.

I already know I haven’t truly lived a single day, Katy. All of us know that.

This really was a brilliant installment in the Lux series. The shiz really hit the fan many times and Daemon is just so swoon worthy with his one woman love for Katy.

“I love you, Kitten.” Another deep , scorching kiss lit up my insides. “And I’m going to show you just how much I love you.”

I chuckled. “Good to know, because I’m planning on going everywhere - and taking the scenic route.”

“I want to spend every second, every minute, every hour with you.”Part of me couldn’t believe something that cheesy had come out of my mouth, but it was also so beautifully true. “I want a year’s worth of second’s and minutes from you. I want a decade’s worth of hours, so many that I can’t add them up.”

Daemon will not let ANYTHING stand in his way. He will make decisions that will come with their own bag of shiz but , it had to be done.

I really am still on a high from reading this book. I want Opposition so badly. The ending can be interpreted several ways.

I still have my thoughts on something, I believe Jennifer will drop it on us in Opposition...or not and I am on the wrong sniffer trail.

A can of worms has been opened up and holy mac and cheese, I can’t even begin to see how Jennifer is going to bring this holy mother of pearl series to a conclusion in two books.

“There’s a special place in hell for you people.”

The shiz has well and truly hit the fan.

There really were no words that fit how far Kat’s life had been derailed.

Obsidian, Onyx and Opal were nothing in the shiz stakes compared to what is going down from now on.

Lordy!

This installment turned into a block buster movie with Michael Bay at the helm.

Crap, I have to wait 9 months until Opposition. Now that is gonna hurt.

* face plant *

It will be like waiting for paint to dry.

Queue the elevator music as I wait... and wait...and wait.

Seriously you can’t do this to me Jennifer, it’s not healthy for my heart.

Death-by-waiting-for-a-book-to-be-released, that is what my grave stone will say.

OO YEAH , I WENT THERE!!!

Blurb : Goodreads

The Passage meets Ender’s Game in an epic new series from award-winning author Rick Yancey.

After the 1st wave, only darkness remains. After the 2nd, only the lucky escape. And after the 3rd, only the unlucky survive. After the 4th wave, only one rule applies: trust no one.

Now, it’s the dawn of the 5th wave, and on a lonely stretch of highway, Cassie runs from Them. The beings who only look human, who roam the countryside killing anyone they see. Who have scattered Earth’s last survivors. To stay alone is to stay alive, Cassie believes, until she meets Evan Walker. Beguiling and mysterious, Evan Walker may be Cassie’s only hope for rescuing her brother—or even saving herself. But Cassie must choose: between trust and despair, between defiance and surrender, between life and death. To give up or to get up.

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

Because if I am the last one, then I am humanity.

And if this is humanity’s last war, then I am the battlefield.

Rick Yancey brings the freakin 'A' to Alien invasion. I could not put this book down. Rick will hold you captive with his brilliant, realistic use of several lead characters whose stories flow so well together.

This is a clever read.

I brought 6 stars to this read as it went beyond the call of 5 stars, for me.

Rick will brain wash the reader with his smooth storytelling, he does not waste words. We, the collective reader will watch it play out like this AMAZING big budget movie at the cost of a book.

In saying that, Rick’s book has film rights sold, already! To that I say no shit Sherlock as seriously I just watched the movie in my head and I would sure as hell pay to see it on the big screen.

Amazing for Rick and well deserved.

Rick leaves no stone unturned in this installment. I understand  there are atleast 3 books in the series to be written.

I. Can’t. Wait.

This book is literally going to have a human invasion of readers of all ages, a captivated audience hollering praise for The 5th Wave.

It is a frighteningly realistic read.

16 year old Cassie has a brilliant voice. You really feel her will to survive and her intelligence. But you also feel her pain and loss like it was your own. She holds it all together better and more realistic than Bruce Willis in a Die Hard Movie.

I loved being in Cassie’s head and listening to the way she thinks things through, talks to herself after being alone with nobody to physically talk out loud to for weeks on end. She banters with herself.

Two spiral-bound notebooks, college ruled, one with a purple cover, the other red. My favourite colors, plus they’re my journals. It’s part of the hope thing. But if I am the last and there’s no one left to read them, maybe an alien will and they’ll know exactly what I think of them. In case you’re an alien and you’re reading this:

BITE ME.

“Here I am! Come and get me, you son of a bitch!”

She doesn’t want to rely on anyone, she trusts only her own instincts. They have kept her alive so far.

“Trusted that when it got dark there would be light. Trusted that when you wanted a fucking strawberry Frappuccino you could plop your ass in the car, drive down the street, and get yourself a fucking strawberry Frappuccino! Trusted...”

Her very human instincts will have her trusting in another.

Cassie really gets the reader involved in her survival, I was right there egging her on. Totally getting why she is feeling the way she is, totally getting her behaviour. Totally wanting her to survive . She is not an annoying character, she is a girl you want on your side, teaching you the ropes of survival.

Cassie brings it.

Think of a character in apocalyptic movies that you would hang with to survive, Cassie is that person. She is Daryl Dixon in The Walking Dead. Well, you know what I mean.

I was held glued to my book by Rick’s words. Words are funny things, they can have no impact on a person, lead you to boredom and then they can be the words of Yancey, that leave you gripping your book and buzzing with adrenaline. You are Cassie’s shadow. You are a part of this invasion for the length of the book...and then some.

You are part of the other lead characters and their slice of the invasion and how it is impacting them.

This is a book where you can’t write the review straight away as you are buzzing, literally humming, vibrating after finishing it.

A thoroughly energetic, fast paced, page turner with a well thought out clever plot. If Rick was an Alien......an Other, I think us humans would be in a world of hurt as the lad can write a convincing realistic Alien apocalyptic takeover. I would not want him in charge of the little green people

I am glad he is on our side as I don't think we would stand a chance.

I went through quite a few WT!! moments. Rick will be brutal with his war between Humans and Aliens. After all this is a war of survival.

I like to hold out hope that humans can overcome what looks like the near impossible.

But , there are always a few tricks up a barely surviving sides sleeve. Where there is a will, there will be a way.

Well, I hope so for all humanity.

The things I am not telling you in this review, OMG! They are a whole book of spoilers. So all I can really say is , GET THIS BOOK , it is YA Gold! Cassie is only the start of the great characters you will be living the invasion through.

Nobody is going down without a fight! And we get a front row seat.

Gut wrenching!! Powerful! Powerful! Powerful! , read.

Tabitha Suzuma will smash your heart into a thousand pieces.... and then some.

A lot of emotions will get under your skin when reading ‘Forbidden’....I found myself up and down whilst reading it. For me , this was a heavy, heavy read, I highly, highly recommend.

This book won't be everybody’s cup of tea due to the subject matter, but!!! I strongly recommend going in with an open mind and letting the characters feelings and words speak to you. I doubt if you will ever read anything quite like it again, stay until the end, you may be very surprised at your initial feelings to your final feelings..... I know I was.

It is a heart breaking story in many, many ways, more than just the taboo part of the book. ‘Forbidden‘, is about more than just Maya and Lochan, there are other characters involved. I thought at one stage character overload for Lochan as he is only 18 years old and as a mother of 3 kids myself, you ‘feel’ for how much he has stacked up against him at such a young age...but Tabitha had to write him that way for the reader to really be able to accept the taboo topic, it wasn’t written lightly , Tabitha blew me away with her writing.

I didn't really know quite what to do with myself after I finished reading ‘Forbidden’, it is a book that leaves you with a tidal wave of emotions and a few tears.

The title of this book is perfect and the story within the pages totally lives up to its name. The story is surrounded by the taboo subject making the reader want that fairy tale ending.....Crikey...it kind of shatters you by the time you finish the book, a very brave story to tell.

Tabitha is very unforgiving with her characters. She drives that nail in with her writing style. This story could have gone so wrong , what I mean is in the writing of the story...but...you find yourself wanting the relationship to be a success you want those odds balanced up.

Blimey was it an emotional ride but to read and watch how your mind gets swayed to hoping for that fairy tale ending.... Tabitha you did good, I can see why Simon and Schuster took on such a controversial book, WOW!!! I would not be surprised if this book won awards.

I would like to say that this is YA genre but I would recommend for a more maturer reader. The content is pretty intense for younger YA readers, in my opinion, sexual references, drug references and the ending is pretty intense.
