FOLLOW MY BOOK BLOG FRIDAY # 11

HOST

Q: Have you ever looked at book’s cover and thought,
 This is going to horrible?
But, was instead pleasantly surprised?
Show off the cover and tell us about the book.

A. I'm going to start by saying I never thought the story was going to be horrible, I am always open to picking up a book that I think is going to be decent to read as time is valuable as a blogger, but the covers I must admit did nothing for me or gave indication of what the story may hold. I read these two books when Amanda Hocking was self published and funny enough I hold dearly the two books I bought off her which are 'Torn' and 'My Blood Approves', the old covers!!
Anyhoo 'Torn' with the spider? hanging off the plant thingy and 'Fate', the tree. I LOVE Amanda's writing but I did have trouble with those covers. But now I look at my Torn edition and go..'awwww', I have an older edition, and it has the spider, which I still don't get ..lol!! It kind of goes to show , that her Trylle series took off and so did My Blood Approves with these covers and I love the story within the pages.
So it truly is a case of Don't Judge A Book By It's Cover!

Q. In light of 11.11.11 and Veteran's Day tell us about your favorite soldier and how he or she is saving the world. Fictional or real life.

A.  I live in QLD about 40 minutes from Gympie. Corporal Ashley Birt was killed 12 days ago in Afghanistan.
A memorial plaque was unveiled today in Gympie in south-east Queensland in honour of this local soldier.

Corporal Birt and two of his colleagues, Captain Bryce Duffy and Lance Corporate Luke Gavin, were gunned down by another rogue member of the Afghan National Army.

Corporal Birt is the first Gympie local to be killed in action since two soldiers died in the Vietnam War.

I never met him , but we thank him and all the other soldiers , male and female that we have never met that go to war to keep us safe.

I will give a fictional answer too.
Tom Imura - 'Rot and Ruin' and 'Dust and Decay' by Jonathan Maberry. Just an awesome guy and a soldier in his own right protecting those he loves . The use of the Samurai sword instead of a gun. Quiet and lethal, no reloading.

Throw in J-Dog and Dr. Skillz who are doing it their way.

Michelle

A.   Well I'd love to name and honour the soldiers that are my favourites and who are saving the world......but they are currently on active duty and belong to the elite SAS of Australia.  If they read this blog they will know who they are.  Each one of them is special in their own way and our family loves them dearly.

They leave their husbands and wives behind and a couple are still to meet their children for the first time.

Their day to day life is far beyond something I can even try to fathom at times......walking down a road and knowing that it could be your last step - but moving on down that road with the thought that each step is a step closer to going home.

I thank them all - even the ones I don't know....whether you believe in the reasons our governments have sent them abroad or not.....they are defending not only our way of life but that of the people whose country is in shambles and can't defend themselves.

A little deep for me I know....but hey!!

On a lighter note............I have put up a new GIVEAWAY...so check it out and enter for a chance to win a signed Last Breath (Morganville Vampires) bookmark.
ENJOY!

Q. If you could have dinner with your favorite book character, who would you eat with and what would you serve?

A. I have several characters, so here goes:

Potter ( Sean) from Kiera Hudson Series by Tim O'Rourke. I would put on some Barry Manilow, trust me he loves it and we would have...... hmmmm.......something I wouldn't have to spend alot of time organising. I would sit back with a glass of wine ( or two)  and a nice cheese platter and antipasto selection.

Now I can't go past Denver Beck ( Team Beck) from The Demon Trappers series by Jana Oliver. He is a good ol Georgia boy, so we would have to have something Southern. I am not sure what because I am Australian, but! I am open to suggestions, I would of course attempt to make it as it would be a treat for me to have a go at Southern style cooking.

Seth from Georgina Kincaid series, he is an author , I think I would have a great conversation with him. If I could draw him away from his Cady and O'Neill series. I think he would like a nice lamb roast as that guy just writes and writes and writes , I figure he is a pizza guy and not getting a nice home cooked dinner often enough. With my spesh gravy.

Q.What superhero is your alter-ego?

A. ELEKTRA

HA!! Leave me alone, I know it's in  my dreams, but she is just bad ass and totally cool. If it helps I am doing P90X at the moment and ...well ...with a lot of really hard work...and ...oh hell who am I kidding, maybe 20 years ago..ha!! It would be very cool to be as fit and smexy as she is. I am quite good now at jab, cross, left hook, upper cut.  I've stopped hitting myself in the face with my upper cuts.

I am aiming high...don't judge me...lol!!!

Michelle

p.s. A few ladies chose the Powerpuff Girls so I have popped a photo of my little dolly up, Blossom.

Q.If you could have characters from a particular book meet and form an epic storyline with characters from a particular TV series, which would you choose and why?

A. Black Dagger Brotherhood Vampires meet with Son's of Anarchy guys. Jax from Sons would make a fine addition to an epic storyline. If anything Jax would kick butt killing Lessers. He would be like BDB's , Butch.

A. Tom Imura , J- Dog and Dr. Skillz from Dust and Decay ( Benny Imura series) would mix well with Survivor ( TV show) . They could show them a thing or two about survival.
