By: Kristen Ashley
Published By: Kristen Ashley
Released : Available Now
Details : Kindle purchase, 554 Pages

RATING: 5 GOOD LAWD! STARS

There's nothing like the first time . . .

In Carnal, Colorado, Faye Goodknight is the town's quiet, shy librarian. She may also be Carnal's last remaining virgin. For years, Faye has had a crush on Chace Keaton, but the gorgeous cop has always been unattainable. She's resigned to live contentedly with only her books for company-until Faye suddenly meets Chace alone in the woods . . .

Chace doesn't think he's the good guy everyone believes him to be. He's made a lot of choices he regrets, including denying his feelings for Faye. Through his choices, he's come to believe the pretty librarian is too good for him, but after their time in the woods, Chace realizes that she may be his last chance for redemption. Soon, their long simmering desires grow to a burning passion. Yet always casting a shadow over their happiness is Chace's dark past . . .

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

It was wild. Abandoned. Rough. Wet. Intense. Fiery. Thorough. Exquisite. Heart-pounding. Blood-singing. Soul-rocking. Life-altering.

Luscious.

Yes. That was a Chace kissss.

Good Lawd!

I really don’t need to say anymore other than, Read this book.

I repeat.

Good Lawd!

Faye is just the most adorable librarian-geek with a HUGE heart. She loves Nathan Fillion, she loves books, she loves Chace and she wants to help a homeless boy.

In her outfit, Faye looked what she was. A native Colorado mountain girl who worked in a library and her native was native seeing as a line of her people had been there for thousands of years.

I gotta say after reading Ty’s book...oh my TyYyyYyy, I didn’t think Chace was gonna rock my socks off.

He rocked my everything off.

*whispers* Ty still has me totally naked though. ;) ( Lady Luck )

Okay some fun quotes because truly if you haven’t started reading any KA, get your butts to the reading order here and sort yourself out.

Kristen Ashley will always give us a town of sub characters who look out for each other.

Twyla and Krys. Bwahahahaa. They made me laugh. This is a kinda long quote, but it simply had to be highlighted.

“You think I walked five blocks in the Colorado Mountain March cold for no reason?” Twyla queried. “I’m a lesbian who can jack most motherfuckers up. I know non-lesbians who can do the same. You bein’ one of ‘em, I might add, though you do it with a shotgun in your hand. Same freakin’ thing. But bein’ a lesbian don’t make me not good at advice.”

I made a mental note of this and added Twyla to my phone tree for when I experienced a relationship emergency.

“I didn’t say that you weren’t,” Krystal retorted.

“Felt that way,” Twyla shot back, Krys’s eyes narrowed and she leaned in.

“Now you’re being sensitive. I’ll remind you, Faye called me," Krys stated.

“Maybe so, but when there’s a problem, it’s all hands on deck,” Twyla returned.

Krystal had no retort, looked stymied and also looked angry that she was. Not unusual, just scarier than normal.

I decided to wade in. “Just an FYI,” I said to Twyla. “I’ve added you to my relationship emergency phone tree.”

Twyla grinned huge at me.

“Great,” Krys muttered. “I finally get my shot, I get bumped because Twyla horned in.”

I blinked at Krystal because she sounded genuinely aggrieved.

It then hit me that Krystal Briggs had let me in. Not like she had Chace. In in. She cared about me. She wanted to help. I was past the hard outside layer that kept everyone out and was in the soft warm center.

This town, although it does come with its villains who like to do some dastardly things, it also comes with such colorful characters such as Dominic and Shambles.

Faye and Chace’s heads jerked to behind them where Dominic, the owner of the local hair salon, was shouting, “Immediate impeachment!”

Their heads jerked back to the front to see Shambles standing two benches in front of them, yelling, “Dudette, know this, I have the right to refuse service and never thought I’d do that to anyone in my life. But starting now, you can get your cappuccinos and chunky peanut butter cookies somewhere else! Talking about Crimson Stargazer like that when she’s finally found a hot guy boyfriend is just...plain...wrong but it’s also serious mean.”

I'm not gonna ramble on about the story, it is a KA recipe of Alpha hotties, shenanigans, villains, friendships and hot sex and luuurve making.

Oh and Deck can't go without a mention. His book is Kaleidoscope. Giddy Up! I think I have three books to read until I can get to that one...due to the KA reading order. * face plant *

According to the KA order I can now swing back around to Rock Chick Revolution , coz' we get a little surprise in Breathe and I got all bouncy when it popped up.

Reason why one must read in the KA order if one doesn't want surprises spoiled.

Happy KA reading everyone.

BOOK REVIEW - BREATHE by ABBI GLINES - SEA BREEZE # 1 - CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE - SIMON & SCHUSTER

By: Abbi Glines
Published By: Simon & Schuster Aust
Released: Available Now
Details: Paperback from publisher for honest review, 333 Pages

RATING: 4.25 JAX STARS!

Blurb: Goodreads

Sadie White's summer job isn't going to be on the beach life-guarding or working at rental booths like most kids her age. With her single mother's increasing pregnancy and refusal to work, Sadie has to take over her mother's job as a domestic servant for one of the wealthy summer families on a nearby island.

When the family arrives at their summer getaway, Sadie is surprised to learn that the owner of the house is Jax Stone, one of the hottest teen rockers in the world. If Sadie hadn't spent her life raising her mother and taking care of the house she might have been normal enough to be excited about working for a rock star.

Even though Sadie isn't impressed by Jax's fame, he is drawn to her. Everything about Sadie fascinates Jax but he fights his attraction. Relationships never work in his world and as badly as he wants Sadie, he believes she deserves more. By the end of the summer, Jax discovers he can't breathe without Sadie.

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

I have a great time reading an Abbi Glines book. I’m only now getting around to reading the Sea Breeze series, I have several I can binge on.

I got to say, I think us Aussies got duped with our covers. I so love the USA covers for this series. Check out the abs on this dude!

Rawrrr...rrrr...rrrr !

Breathe is the story of Jax Stone a nineteen year old teen rock star and the seventeen year old maid/on the staff, that works at his summer home.

Sadie, I thought was an appropriate name if anybody can remember the song, Sadie the cleaning lady. I may be showing my age here.

Sadie and her pregnant mother live alone. They have no money and Sadie is sent out to take over her job at Jax Stone’s home, until school goes back.

Jax Stone is only in residence for the summer.

Enter Marcus. I love Marcus he reminds me a lot of Woods in the Too Far series/Rosemary Beach series. He is thoughtful and kind. He is switched on and doesn’t hesitate to help out. I am looking forward to reading his book, Because of Low, next. I really like him.

This is very much a cinderella type story, the handsome prince sweeps the poor girl off her feet. Is it believable that a seventeen year old and nineteen can declare so much love so quickly, considering his position and there ages?

Eh, who cares. To fantasize is entertaining.

The lips of the only boy I would ever love touched mine, and I forgot where we were and everything else around us.

Jax is gorgeous and talented, Sadie is very likeable and the sub characters, I totally loved.

Ms. Mary is brilliant and Mr Grey is an endearing older gentleman on the staff.

Ms. Mary is one of those motherly characters that can’t put a foot wrong. She is wise and caring and knows how to spot a little sparrow that needs nurturing. She knows how to speak her mind and earns herself a lot of respect from all the staff, even her employer.

I didn’t really get to feel Jax as the rock star. I saw how his fans behaved, but didn’t actually see him in the role that earned him his title at such a young age. We felt it from the magazine clippings and the way people behaved around him, but I liked how he was just a guy around Sadie.

“I happen to be interested in someone I don’t really see as the guy in those posters.”

“You saved me, Sadie. You may not realize it, but you did,” I told her before claiming her mouth.

I did love the idea that these two kids found each other from different worlds and the dream of it working.

“You -- he let out a low chuckle -- “you’re gonna own me, Sadie White. Damn, baby, that was sweet.”

Finally, he turned me around to face him. “Please. I need my air.”

“Damn, Sadie, I’m going to have a hard time with self-control tonight, and I swear, if I catch one guy ogling you, he’s going to be able to tell the world he got his ass kicked by Jax Stone.”

The smexi scene was ... Abbi’s-smexi-good-value, she provides for her readers, the cinema scene was smokin’ in a young love way! I understand that the original Breathe written a while back wasn't as smokin' as this one.

I am on to Because of Low now to find out what Marcus is up to. I can tell I'm addicted already.

BOOK REVIEW - BREATHE by SARAH CROSSAN - BREATHE # 1 - BLOOMSBURY - 4.25 TREELESS STARS!!

By: Sarah Crossan
Published By: Bloomsbury
Released: November 2012
Details: Paperback for Review from publisher, 371 Pages. THANKYOU!

RATING: 4.25 TREELESS STARS!!

Blurb: Part back cover, part Goodreads

When oxygen levels plunge in a treeless world, a state lottery decides who will live inside THE POD. Everyone else will slowly suffocate.

Inhale. Exhale.
Breathe.
Breathe.
Breathe . . .
The world is dead.
The survivors live under the protection of Breathe, the corporation that found a way to manufacture oxygen-rich air.

Alina has been stealing for a long time. She's a little jittery, but not terrified. All she knows is that she's never been caught before. If she's careful, it'll be easy. If she's careful.

Quinn should be worried about Alina and a bit afraid for himself, too, but even though this is dangerous, it's also the most interesting thing to happen to him in ages. It isn't every day that the girl of your dreams asks you to rescue her.

Bea wants to tell him that none of this is fair; they'd planned a trip together, the two of them, and she'd hoped he'd discover her out here, not another girl.

And as they walk into the Outlands with two days' worth of oxygen in their tanks, everything they believe will be shattered. Will they be able to make it back? Will they want to?

Listen to this trailer - Really think about each breath you take so freely

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle :

Imagine our planet earth, ‘The Switch’ has happened, and in various parts of our planet we are living in Pods filled with oxygen that we must pay for.

Imagine being an ‘Auxiliary’, a lower classed citizen who does not have enough oxygen to exercise, or who could not have a ‘loving’ relationship, as that would take a bit of extra oxygen, without being able to afford it.

Imagine being a ‘Premium’. You are rich, you do not have to worry about the ‘cost of breathing’. You have only ever known life to be easier than an Auxiliaries.

Your best friend is an Auxiliary.

Imagine being a ‘Resistance’ member, and fighting for change, fighting to save the planet ,and what it takes to get past the politics and power and money that run the Pods...... 'Breathe' is that power.

If caught , your life could be suffocated right from beneath you.

Imagine being the Pod Minister, and together with his minions, his army, they work to make sure that nobody has enough oxygen to live outside the Pod. They work to kill anything that produces oxygen.

Even people.

Imagine being a ‘Drifter’, those who were once a Premium but have found themselves outside the Pod in The Outlands, trying to survive on an oxygen tank the size of a small fridge, too weak to lift it, scavenging to survive.

I loved the POWER in this book was named Breathe. In life that is the power in our body's. If we don't breathe, we don't survive.

I really enjoyed this book. We are reading from three POV’s. Alina, Bea and Quinn’s. I just had to take that extra few seconds to note the change as some chapters were very short.

Quinn is Premium and his best friend is Bea, an Auxiliary. A camping trip financed by Quinn into The Outlands leads them to meet up with Alina, a resistance member.

I loved the compassion of Bea. She has heart and a soul. Quinn, bless him, he grew on me. He is kind hearted but doesn’t see what is right in front of him.

He did grow on me.

Alina is a fighter and I loved Silas and Inger. I love characters that fight for EVERYBODY’s rights. They are not selfish, but they become hardened because of their cause.

The sub characters add emotion to this story. Petra and her ‘pet’, Jazz. I didn’t know what to make of Jazz, such a young child who acted all moods. I understood Petra’s passion, it hardens you, and the control needed to protect such a precious thing you are trying to hide and keep secret fills you with distrust.

The years of devotion that can come crumbling down in minutes.

Such a sad waste of the world.

I loved the couple great twists I got from this book. I will admit this book grew on me the more I read. I felt more invested in the characters and plot. It became more frightening and believable.

There were a couple of scenes. One made me laugh out loud. It involves a tent and Silas, Quinn and Inger. Very funny J

I thought this was a great start to this series and one that left me with some questions....Abel???

This dystopian series has huge potential and what a wonderful, yet frightening original idea for a book series.

Bang. On!

I would like you to imagine when reading this book, you have not enough oxygen.

Stop and take a breath and think about how natural and easy that is.

Something as natural as a tree planted, living , that kindly provides us with oxygen.

I often joke to my kids that air is the only thing we don’t have to pay for.........not in Sarah’s world.

Now think about no trees on our planet.

Now, read this book and I hope it makes you plant a tree or be conscious of what could happen to our planet, amongst many other things we are doing to it.

Now, think about not being able to BREATHE.

Are you feeling frightened?

I am.
