6 FEELINGS STARS!!

Cora Lewis is a whole lot of fun, and she knows how to keep her tattooed bad boy friends in line. But all that flash and sass hide the fact that she’s never gotten over the way her first love broke her heart. Now she has a plan to make sure that never happens again: She’s only going to fall in love with someone perfect.

Rome Archer is as far from perfect as a man can be. He’s stubborn and rigid, he’s bossy and has come back from his final tour of duty fundamentally broken. Rome’s used to filling a role: big brother, doting son, super soldier; and now none of these fit anymore. Now he’s just a man trying to figure out what to do with the rest of his life while keeping the demons of war and loss at bay. He would have been glad to suffer it alone, until Cora comes sweeping into his life and becomes the only color on his bleak horizon.

Perfect isn’t in the cards for these two, but imperfect might just last forever . . .

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

Rome. Rome. Rome.

Cora. Cora. Cora.

I absolutely LOVED this book.

Rome and Cora are simply brilliant together.

Captivating.

Rome is a character who will make you cry. I loved him in Rule when we were first introduced to this big brother who was there for Rule. He was there for Shaw. Rome has an enormous heart and wants to make everything better. He holds himself accountable even when things are out of his control.

Life is life. Shiz happens. Pain happens. Somewhere along the way this big guy lost some of himself. He has watched soldiers die. He has fought for his country, kept his family safe.

He is a warrior.

When you’re no longer fighting a war you were trained to fight and you are now fighting a different kind of war, an emotional war that you don’t know how to fight, well, Rome has some things to figure out.

Enter Cora, aka Tink. I absolutely love this chick. She is my kind of gal. Rule, Jet, Nash and Rowdy all love her. They don’t care who it is, they will protect her.

“Love is a goddamn scary thing. Facing it takes brass balls, and we all know you have a pair.”

Even if it’s from Rome.

“We can go as many rounds as you want, Captain No-Fun, you don’t scare me.”

I think this is the best writing Jay has done because she made me get all these feels from this book. She made me cry. She gives Rome such depth to his character and we watch a broken soldier being put back together.

I just got this vibe while reading that she really has settled into her characters lives and wrote so much from her heart.

Not sure if I am explaining myself well on how I felt, but the writing is very special in Rome’s book.

It touched me.

It was deeper.

There was a particular part of this story that just had me a bit blubbery, well extra blubbery than a couple other parts. You will know which part it is when you get to it. I hadn’t actually thought about this side of things in the last couple books and I am so glad Jay addressed it.

Lordy. I am welling up again.

Cora has her own emotional issues in this book and she is just such an endearing character. I love watching Cora and Rowdy interact. He is quite a lad. From what I have seen of him, he appears to observe , give his thoughts that are often quite right to Cora.

Rowdy stretched one of his arms out along the back of my chair and wrapped his fingers around the back of my neck. I sighed a little when he started to rub some of the tension out of the muscles.

“You wanna tell me what’s really going on or do you just want me to jump to my own conclusion, which is probably right anyway?”

“You suck.”

“Only when asked nicely.”

I love how all the lads in this book, including Asa, have this thing where they will drop what they are doing and they are there in a heartbeat for their friends.

Everybody is very real, living very real lives. They are a group of friends I would be proud to have as my own. They rent, they drink, they socialize, they watch out for each other. We watch each character get put back together as the series goes on.

They are family.

Nobody hurts their family.

Rome is going through some very real, very tough emotional issues.

Enter Brite.

What a cool guy. Love him.

“Ahh... no offense, darlin’, but that is a whole lot of unwieldy soldier in a piss-poor mood and three sheets to the wind. You might wanna let the brother handle this one.”

“What happened to get him in this state?”

The guy shook his head and stroked a hand over what was seriously the most awesome beard I had ever seen.

“Life happened, darlin’. Sometimes it just gets the better of us is all. Take care of that boy, he needs someone too, especially right now.”

Asa made me sit up and pay attention in this book. My heart strings got tugged.

Rule and Shaw make a few appearances. I love watching Rule evolve. He is so dang cute when he is...evolving.

Our flaws are what make us unique, and while Rule might not be perfect, he is absolutely perfect for me.”

Shaw has brought Rule back from his damaged emotional self, she loves Rome , he is her family too.

“I’m looking right at you and see the guy that was always a wonderful brother, an amazing son, and the strongest, most self-aware guy I have ever known. You’re amazing and maybe you’re struggling right now, but seriously Rome, you’ve had to be strong for your entire life, haul around everyone else’s crap, it’s okay to put it down for a minute and let the rest of us carry the burden.”

Jay’s writing mojo was BRILLIANT in this installment in the Marked Men series. I highly recommend this series. I will be very sad when I have no more lads and their loves to read about.

I read Rule when he was ten days old and I could tell from Rule that Jay was going places. She just has it right when it comes to the lads she loves to put back together with the help of her ladies and vice versa, the ladies need some help in their lives too.

Rule was just an amazing start to this series that made us all pay attention to a debut author that came from nowhere. Jet is the rocker we all love and Rome will squeeze your heart tight.

An amazing ensemble of characters fill the pages of the Marked Men series.

I am moshing for Nash’s book due for release April 2014. I can’t wait to see what he looks like on the cover.

Humma! Humma!

I am excited!!!
