RANDOM POSTING # 57 - SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN MOVIE TRAILER

I love a good movie and I love a good fairy tale, combine these two and you get this movie trailer.

How good does this movie look?

I love the whole 'feel' that I get from this trailer.
In Australia 'Once Upon A Time' has only just hit the t.v.
I am in Snow White mode at the moment.

I also love that one of those Aussie Hemsworth brothers has popped up in yet another big budget movie.
Today we have Chris. For those of you confused...he was Thor the hammer wielding God..in errr...Thor.
Liam is dating Miley Cyrus and he was in The Hunger Games, Gale.
Yes the Hemsworth boys are rocking the movie scene.
I am lovin' Kristen's Snow White look. Beautiful costumes, stunning cinematography. I am looking forward to seeing this on the big screen , sitting munching on my popcorn/M&M combo. You haven't lived until you have poured a packet of M&M's into a bucket of popcorn....deeeellllish!

Nothing as good as a self portrait...eeekkk!!
Hold onto your hats, Miss Suzi got promoted to camera girl while I waved my arm in the air for audience question time and it is a tad wobbblllyyy.....bless her. I thank my left hand thumb,  for keeping the camera steady whilst I was camera girl. It was rather stiff afterwards.

Michelle, Carolyn & Suzi's awesomesauce Cassandra Clare , Down Under, Melbourne , Australia, Book Signing Ladycation Part 1

Yes that is Michelle (me)  popping my noggin up, rather sneakily into the pic with Cassandra and her hubby , in background. I am in stealth mode hoping I am not noticed..lol!!! ( check out my half guilty face)

I am going to start by giving an ENORMOUS THANKYOU!!! to Cassandra Clare for being so gracious and signing a folder of goodies. THANKYOU!!! We so appreciated it!!

Joanna Bennett from Walker Books , kindly liaised with me in regard to picking up the signed items from Cassandra's hotel. THANKYOU !! to Joanna, very nice lady.

There were approximately 350 peeps who attended the evening with Cassandra Clare and the High Warlock, Magnus Bane ( aka Melbourne author Leanne Hall ) book signing event at the Palace Westgarth Theatre in Northcote, Melbourne at 6.30pm.

Our Build Up To The Evening

Joanna Bennett from Walker books
and
Cassandra Clare
(The gift bag is almost in the way)
Once Miss Suzi ( our bookmark queen) had arrived at our hotel in full huggles and kisses mode ( I hadn't seen her since last September) at 2.00pm on Wednesday 25th May and Carolyn and I were all giggly etc with seeing Suzi , we had some catching up and then it was getting dressed and fluffed and buffed for meeting Cassandra. The older ya get, the longer it takes. Suzi ironed ( errr...yes used the iron and ironing board) on my hair, we were in black outfits and ready to catch a tram to Northcote. Now Suzi lives in Melbourne and shame on her she has never rode the tram, so she was kinda useless in our endeavour to get to Northcote on time. ( sorry Suzi, you were useless..lol!! )

Carolyn and Suzi in killer stiletto boots,
note the runes on their hands.
After walking 8 blocks, Suzi in killer stiletto boots,  Isabelle would be proud of..we get the number 86 tram to Northcote. now you would think this new wang fangle ticket system we could use, apparently named Mikey, I thought Jace might have been a nicer name...but nobody asked my opinion..anyhoo we 3 all stared at Mikey and because Suzi is useless helping us with tramming...hee..hee.. ( if that's a word) , we didn't know what to do with Mikey, so we asked fellow commuters and whallah tickets spewed from Mikey.

Now that is all well and good but nobody seemed to know what tram stop to get off at...so after 40 mins, Carolyn looking rather concerned we weren't going to arrive on time...I rugby tackled a few commuters up to the driver, tapped on his teeny window, he slid it open and he told me next stop, mean while Carolyn has hopped off..but we scooped her back on.

I am tackling Suzi, not sure why, seemed good
idea at the time..loL!!!
We arrive at 6.15pm, a lady comes up to us, so we must have looked reasonably like Shadowhunters...gave us a postcard each and Suzi and I got a Heal/Painless, runes necklace. Carolyn didn't, but she didn't dress up, according to the lady, so me the quick thinker said she was a human subjugate, so we got Carolyn a necklace too....hee..hee. ( well Carolyn did come all the way from Perth , Western Australia)

Carolyn tackling me..errr..again
not sure why?? lol!!
I am like an energiser bunny by now...all jabber jabber, bouncy , bouncy, because I am soooo excited. So I fly into the theatre with Carolyn and we get 3rd row on far right. Beautiful old theatre.
I'm organising all my cameras, memory cards, notepad, to calm down. Theatre is chock full of fans a lot had dressed up, which was fun to see. I loved the Silent Brothers..hee..hee.. they were very cute and the person whose skin was green with blonde hair...I think was Fey???? One girl was Camilla I think, very nicely done. Some great looking Isabelle's. Suzi comes and sits with us and she draws the Fearless rune on my neck and chest, and Carolyn gets heal rune on her hand..errr... then I realise we kinda just killed her as she human and well humans can't handle runes...and Suzi put one on her hand .

Jace, Clary, Hodge and Alec
A wonderful scene was played out from City of Bones with Hodge , Alec, Jace and Clary. Then.....

.....it was Cassandra Clare and Magnus Bane ( aka Leanne Hall) taking the stage. Poor Cassandra had a broken toe!!!

Clary and Hodge

The rest is on the videos...I have Part 1 for you below.

After the Q & A's we all stampeded, reasonably well behaved , into this enormous line that snaked up stairs , round corner, got cut off and then started again down stairs and went outside theatre!!! Well 350 peeps will do that.

Cassandra Clare and Magnus bane
aka Melbourne author Leanne Hall
It was not a long wait for us as I did reasonably well in the line about half hour waiting. I have every now and then tweeted Cassandra and I let her know we were coming. I was going to try to be all formal and act my age..lol!! but I got a bit nervous, I did reasonably well considering, she was sooooo nice she gave me a kinda hi five hand shake in the air when I babbled out I was from book blog Novels On The Run. She was very, very, nice and I thrust a goodie bag in her face as again, tad nervous with Tim Tams, Anzac bikkies, Twisties and a koala card in it, thanking her and rambling on no doubt. She signed my books, I don't even remember half of it I was that excited, but LOL!! I do remember saying I loved her...( oh dear...what can I say...)

I introduced Suzi as our designer and Carolyn as our guest reviewer and she said hello to them and was lovely.

Yup!! Still not sure what we are doing...hee...hee
Then we were all giggly standing to the side and I took a couple snaps but I didn't use flash as Í didn't want to keep flashing Cassandra .

We stood and watched her and the crowd for a bit and the one thing I noticed was Cassandra had a smile and something to say to everyone and really looked happy to be signing everything people gave her. She really looked like she was having as much fun as everybody else. We gave her a shout out goodbye and thankyou when we left and she said bye to us. A really, really lovely person.

Then after some Peri Peri chips across road at Nandos we were back on tram where I think the excitement of the night got the better of me and  I got the worst case of the giggles , so proceeded to giggle in fits all the way back to our hotel.

Crikey, it was an awesome night,  I would do it again!!

ENJOY THE VIDS BELOW MORE TO COME...

Random # 7 AMANDA HOCKING VIDEO - AWESOME!!! INSPIRATIONAL!!

I am a HUGE fan of Amanda Hocking. Not just her writing, but she beats to her own drum. She was rejected, hundreds of times, but she perservered . It gives such hope to many writers dreams. Her story is not the norm, but its inspirational. I think it's a totally 'cool', story.

This link will take you to the video. I copied the embeded code but it brought nothing up??

MARISSA & MICHELLE'S TOTALLY EPIC RACHEL CAINE DOWN UNDER BOOK SIGNING ADVENTURES PART 1

Rachel & Marissa
 PART ONE

LOCATION:    Astor Theatrette, Perth Western Australia
DATE:  Monday 2nd May 2011
EVENT:  Q and A + signing with Rachel Caine (Bite Club book release)

How exciting...the first ever author signing event I have ever been to.....and what a score it was.  Rachel Caine...the wonderfully talented author of The Morganville Vampire Series.

I primped and preened and gathered all my items for signing....made sure the super camera was charged....off loaded the kids to a friend....and headed out.  In my usual style I arrived early and was one of the first seated in the theatre. What a great intimate environment for an event like this.  I must say I was a little nervous!!

Our friend Carolyn, who has guest reviewed for the blog, met me inside and we waited for the arrival of Rachel, the host of the evening Jess from The Tales Compendium and Felicity from Penguin Australia.

It was a lovely casual atmosphere. Jess gave us a rundown of the series (without spoilers!!) and then launched into some fantastic questions for Rachel to answer. This was Jess' first hosting of an event like this and my hat goes off to her - she did a great job and made the evening interesting, informative and enjoyable.

Rachel reading to us!
The signed Bite Club

Rachel, as I had expected, was so relaxed and was a pleasure to listen to. She is quite comical and shared with us a few tales!  We were also honoured with her reading a "romantic" scene between Shane and Claire.  Rachel gave us insights into her life before writing as well as life as a full-time writer.

Holographic bm
Afterwards we all headed out to the foyer for Rachel to bless us with signing our many items we all brought along.  Rachel also came prepared with some goodies for us all.  Not only is she a talented author, but she also makes holographic bookmarks - which she gave us each. PLUS.....a Bite Club/Morganville Vampire Series promo poster (which I had her sign) and the  "Morganville Residents Registration Cards".

A4 poster by Book Blings

Suzi from Book Blings made us a stack of awesome posters and bookmarks for Rachel to hopefully sign.  And yes....she signed every single one of them. My hand ached just watching her sign away!!!  Keep your eyes peeled on the blog.....signed items will be up for grabs - and they will be VERY sought after.

As Jess was the official Blog host for the evening and conducted most of the questions, I have a extracted a couple of Q and A's from her site The Tales Compendium for you all to read.  Jess has also posted footage and other questions on her site - so head on over and check them out.

In Bite Club, we get to see some of the scenes from Shane's POV. What made you decide to do this?
Bite Club has a lot going on with Shane -- and it stirs up a lot of his past, his issues, and we see some of the hidden anger that he keeps under such tight rein. I felt it was important to really get inside his head for some of what was happening, because Claire is so much on the outside of many of the events, and without his perspective I felt readers might get too much of a one-sided view of why he was behaving as he was. I also really like writing Shane's POV ... I've done it in short stories (most notably Murdered Out, a short story included in an early UK edition, as well as a few more) and it seemed a good experiment to do in the novel.

And when the time comes, do you already know how it will end? I don't know if there is an ending, a town like Morganville just goes on... but obviously I would wrap up the stories of the characters in it. There's bound to be another generation of people with whole new problems though!

Apart from Last Breath coming out in November, you also have a new series that will be released in Australia. Can you tell us about that?
I have a new adult series coming out in August called The Revivalist. The first novel, Working Stiff, introduces Bryn Davis, who is a young funeral director discovering that her new bosses are reviving the dead, for profit, in the basement. That's only the beginning of Bryn's problems, which include tangling with a giant and sinister pharmaceutical company in the first book.

I HAD A BLAST!!!!
ENJOY!

AUSTRALIA

 TUESDAY 3RD MAY 2011 4PM

Rachel Caine & Liam
Liam and I had a little over an hour drive to Northlakes  (about half hour from Brisbane ) from our home on the Sunshine Coast. It wasn't so sunny on Tuesday. It poured the whole drive there. I picked up my little man from school after lunch break so I could fluff and buff him. He's never been a dude that stays clean at school, today was no exception, mud caked all over his legs. After a once over in the shower and a bowl of Chicken Crimpys ( savoury biscuits ) we were good to go. ( see he almost shines )

Camera charged..check!
Spare batteries ..check!!
Extra memory card...check!!
Suzi's awesome giveaways to be signed..check!!
Notepad with some questions...check!!
My whole set of  the Morganville Vampires series, including Bite Club # 10, 2 copies ...check!!
Gift bag of Australian goodies complete with teeny Aussie flags and napkins...check!! ( Gift for Rachel signing all blog giveaways )
Spare black marker ....check!! ( incase Rachel's marker for signing runs out, as my husband would say, 'nerd alert', my motto, 'always be prepared')
Petrol..check!!
Liam....check!!

Driving down Liam was worried he would be bored for a couple hours......well, he had... the... 'best'... time. He loved the signing. He asked Rachel a question during Q & A time.

Liam: Who is your favourite character?
Rachel: Myrnin, he is such fun to write.

Rachel is a very happy , fun to listen to personality . We just all stood around , a very informal talk. I introduced myself to Felicity from Penguin Australia,  Rachel came in the door, picked up the microphone and gave us a warm welcome. I think we were all rather timid at first, but she warmed us up with a speech and then it was Q & A time. I must admit I was a tad nervous with asking my questions, my fingers were shaking as I groped my notebook, but Rachel is very relaxed so I got over that by the second question, sort of.

Sssshh...this ones for Suzi.
Once Rachel signed all my books ( squeeEEEee) and I gave her the gift bag of Aussie goodies from us thanking her for signing all the giveaways over the last 2 days ( there was a bit) . Then I had a few items to be signed for blog giveaways , thanks to Suzi for making them, so I waited until she had finished all the signings, then Rachel started to sign them. Liam was sitting on the floor by the door and decided to say, 'Hey Rachel, do your books have rocket launchers in them and do you blow anybodys head off?'....hee..hee....( that's my son, far too many zombie games the dear boy plays, *looks at husband* )
Rachel: 'No, but there may be a tank'.

Josh , a nice lad came in near end of signings, he had driven 3 hours to get book #1 'Glass Houses' and book #10  'Bite Club' signed , as a surprise for his girlfriend. Awww, what a nice boyfriend:D

Marissa was lucky at her signing there were posters given out that Rachel signed. We didn't have posters at our signing, but we did each get one of Rachel's bookmarks she prints up herself, purple holographic one, complete with tassel and The Morganville Residential card.

Liam was my cameraman for the video's below.  Thankyou little man for helping your mum out and holding her hand at her first ever signing. The footage I have of Rachel's talk and Q & A is a tad wobbly in parts, but he's only 11yrs old. You can hear it very clearly all questions and answers. It will be posted on the blog in 4 parts over next week as it's 34mins and 50 seconds long in total.

Part of amazing giveaways
Unofficial signed A4 size pics for framing

Thankyou Rachel for signing all our goodies and being such a nice person. We have whisked the signed bookmarks back to Miss Suzi for completion ( lamenating and cutting). Stay tuned for amazing giveaways coming up .

I got this pic off Carolyn who
went to Perth signing

I'm off to Melbourne next for Cassandra Clare signing, I can hardly wait.

Enjoy Part 1 of my Rachel Caine video, more to come soon.
I've had to put the 9 mins into 5 little videos as they had to each be under 100mb.
I'm an 'L' plater on youtube.
