BOOK REVIEW - THE RETURN by JENNIFER L ARMENTROUT - TITAN # 1 - SPENCER HILL PRESS - PARANORMAL ROMANCE

By: Jennifer L Armentrout
Published By: Spencer Hill Press
Released: Available Now
Details: Paperback from library, 335 Pages

RATING : 4.5 SMEXY SETH STARS!

Blurb: Goodreads

The Fates are cackling their bony asses off…

It’s been a year since Seth made the deal with the gods that pledged his life to them. And so far, the jobs they’ve given him have been violent and bloody–which is kind of all right with him. But now Apollo has something else in mind for Seth. He’s got to play protector while keeping his hands and fingers off, and for someone who really has a problem with restraint, this new assignment might be the most challenging yet.

Josie has no idea what this crazy hot guy’s deal might be, but it’s a good bet that his arrival means the new life she started after leaving home is about to be thrown into an Olympian-sized blender turned up to puree. Either Josie is going insane or a nightmare straight out of ancient myth is gunning for her.

But it might be the unlikely attraction simmering between her and the golden-eyed, secret-keeping Seth that may prove to be the most dangerous thing of all.

Because history has once again been flipped to repeat.

Book 1 in the new adult paranormal TITAN series, spin-off to the best selling COVENANT series.

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

I loved the Covenant series and now Titan the spinoff has spun with The Return.

SETH! He’s baaAAaack.

And boy is he a smexy lad.

Josie and Seth find themselves together...because Apollo said so and things heat up.

We know there is always gonna be luurrrvvvvee in JLA’s books and this is no exception, it’s about the road trip getting there.

I adored Apollo in Covenant series and he gets to show himself and so does Deacon and Luke.

Cool!

There is so much more to learn about those crazy Gods and the trouble that follows our main characters around, and now JLA has thrown in villainous Titans who are on a mission to seek and destroy and all that good stuff.

I’ll be back for The Power in February 2016 because it has all only just begun. JLA has to put Josie and Seth through a whole pile of more shiz before we get to the end of this series.

Details: Paperback from library , 297 Pages

RATING: 4.5 SATISFYING ENDING STARS!

Blurb: Goodreads

It's a beautiful day for a war.

In the stunning, action-packed climax to the bestselling Covenant series, Alex must face a terrible choice: the destruction of everything and everyone she holds dear… or the end of herself.

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

I am the first to admit that when it comes to reading a last book in a series, I get nervous and I hold off. I am not sure what I am waiting for, because I stay away from spoilers, but I get nervous. I don't peek to see how it rates, I don't look at reviews.

I still haven’t managed to read Mockingjay, Hunger Games # 3. I get a bit melancholy when it comes to a series ending. I think I figure if I don’t read the last book, it hasn’t actually finished.

Well. Duh! It has, Michelle. But in my head it hasn't.

I have loved this series from the start. I do love Aiden and I am so happy to see that Seth gets an adult spinoff, Titans. The Return is releasing February 2015.

I liked Seth. He has many flaws, he didn’t do the right thing, but he redeemed himself in Sentinel. The best he could, considering.

And then Seth chuckled deeply. “Clever, Angel.”

I thought the first thirdish of this book was a little slow for me personally, but it did pick up.

THEN...

It had me feeling the emotions.

I thought the ending was very well thought out and written.

I liked it, alot.

I thought it was clever.

It didn’t stop it being sad, but it was clever.

I liked the introduction of a Titan, Perses. I kind of forgot that he was really a very, very bad Titan. Like dude, you did some terrible stuff.

But, Jennifer gave us an amusing Perses. We forgot that he was a very bad boy, hence why Hades had him locked up like a popsicle.

But hey, good help is hard to find, so sometimes you can’t be choosy.

There was one point in this book where I felt like queueing the dramatic music.

Da...da...daaaaaaaa!!!

I was like WT!

Seth and Aiden naturally had words to say to each other. I always knew Seth was never going to wind up with Alex. I am looking forward to finding out who Jennifer has lined up for Seth.

I rolled my eyes.

“Do tell.” A muscle spasmed in Aiden’s jaw.

“One word.” Seth took a small step forward, a grin playing across his lips. “Jealousy.”

I threw my hands up. “I give up. Not like we don’t have real problems to deal with, but let’s continue the boy-fight.”

Aiden and Alex’s love was inevitable it would stay true. I never felt it was threatened by Seth. Not really. I always thought there was going to be a twist with Aiden having the title St. in his name.

I was wrong.

“The only time I hadn’t been selfish was when I pushed you away, and that’s the day I regret most.”

I did think I was a smarty pants and predicted something happening in this installment, but then...there was a great twist, that kind of told me where to shove my prediction.

I liked that!

War was inevitable. Alex was the one to end the war with her skills. We knew this from the last book.

No one answered, because seriously, we could be exchanging one apocalyptic situation for another.

The ending did get me quite emotional for a few reasons. But I shall keep those to myself.

I am looking forward to Seth’s spinoff and I wouldn’t be surprised if Perses pops up.

After all it is the Titan’s series.

Deacon and Luke had some fun lines.

With wide eyes, Deacon remained by Aiden’s side. “If you head starts spinning...”

“Shut up, Deacon,” Aiden growled.

They won’t get past us. Have half of us form a line several yards back,” Aiden ordered. The rest of us will stay here.”

Luke shook his head and muttered, “That would be the oh-shit line.”

Apollo has always put a smile on my face with his dialogue through out this series.

“He doesn’t swing that way,” Apollo commented, his blue eyes alive with amusement. “And I didn’t think you did, either.”

A very satisfying ending to a war of emotions and fighting the good fight, saving humanity from extinction and half-bloods getting a fair go in life. You can never trust a God, but there are always exceptions.

I am looking forward to The Return. The title alone makes me think Seth is coming back with a bang.

BOOK REVIEW - APOLLYON by JENNIFER L. ARMENTROUT - COVENANT # 4 - SPENCER HILL PRESS - YA PARANORMAL

By: Jennifer L. Armentrout
Published By: Spencer Hill Press
Released: Available Now
Details : Paperback from library, 343 Pages

RATING: 4.25 AIDEN STARS!

Blurb: Goodreads

Fate isn’t something to mess with… and now, neither is Alex.

Alex has always feared two things: losing herself in the Awakening and being placed on the Elixir. But love has always been stronger than Fate, and Aiden St. Delphi is willing to make war on the gods—and Alex herself—to bring her back.

The gods have killed thousands and could destroy entire cities in their quest to stop Seth from taking Alex’s power and becoming the all-powerful God Killer. But breaking Alex’s connection to Seth isn’t the only problem. There are a few pesky little loopholes in the whole “an Apollyon can’t be killed” theory, and the only person who might know how to stop the destruction has been dead for centuries.

Finding their way past the barriers that guard the Underworld, searching for one soul among countless millions, and then somehow returning will be hard enough. Alex might be able to keep Seth from becoming the God Killer… or she might become the God Killer herself.

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

Oh, it was on like Donkey Kong.

I am a HUGE Covenant fan. I love this series. I, like many, have a crush on Aiden St. Delphi. He is book boyfriend material with a capital B.

This was not my fave Covenant book, I am gonna be honest. Deity was a hard one to follow. But that is ok. I am still a massive fan of Jennifer’s and she is writing books quicker than I can read them. I still rate it highly as she is still keeping the story moving along and putting Alex through the wringer and Aiden is so loyal and strong.

I mean bigger picture here people, who even cares anymore about a Pure getting it on with a Half-Blood?  The Gods and their minions want to wipe out human existence.

Poor Aiden has to wear that Sentinel uniform fiercely in this instalment. Alex has gone to the other side, so to speak with all her ramblings of doing evil things. Not the poor girls fault. Thank goodness she broke through that evil exorcist mojo she was working. Not an attractive girl it makes.

I was waiting for her head to start spinning.

“I will get out of here eventually, Aiden. And I will kill you. Slowly.”

“And you’ll murder everyone I care for. I know. We’ve been here before.”

Aiden and Alex have themselves a bit of a quest to find some information out. Caleb is such a great guy, even if he is not technically with them. He still comes through to help Alex. I mean what are best friends for if they can’t help you from the other side?

I do miss Caleb being in the ...errr now, apocalyptic world, but it is the Underworld for him. I feel kind of sad every time he makes an appearance as it makes me remember what happened to him. But he appears to be happy with his lot.

Alex and Aiden turn up the smexi in this book. What I love is how strong Aiden is with his encouragement around Alex. He knows the shiz is hitting the fan, but he stays positive and looks at how he can get around what shiz is hurled their way.

“You’re so fierce.” He came to stand before me, cocking his head to the side as he placed the tips of his fingers on my chin. “And so brave, but spiders send you into a fit.”

“Those spiders were twice the size of Rottweilers, Aiden. They were not normal spiders.”

“Still, spiders,” he murmured, lowering his head. His lips brushed mine. The gentle sweep was all too quick, but powerful. “But if you take off your clothes, I’m sure I can get you dry.”

“My eyes went wide. “Wow. Are you trying to get me naked?”

His silvery gaze met mine. “Do you really need me to answer that?”

“To be afraid, Alex, it’s okay. What we’re facing is some scary... shit.”

I smiled then. “You cussed.”

“I did.”

Aiden’s fingers splayed across my cheek. “If I could change this, I would. I’d do anything to save you from this.”

“I know.” I tipped my head a little to the side and kissed him softly. “But Fate is a bitch.”

The Gods are coming and going in the story line, some appearing almost trustworthy, some with an agenda of their own.

The world is really not in good shape.

There is a war that is closer to either bringing humans to total extinction, get that white board eraser out, or there is a smidge of hope. But it is all lying in the hands of Alex and her crew who are doing their best to get from point A to point B with all people accounted for and Apollo and any other God who wants to lend a hand and who they can pick up along the way who is up for the Cause.

Poor Alex has some pretty serious pressure on her to perform and it isn’t looking too good for her either way. She is but a pawn to get the result.

Apollo made it all sound so simple, like he was asking me to go to the store and pick up Crunchy Cheetos and if they didn’t have them in stock, to get Cheetos Puffs. Insane.

I just love Deacon so much and he gives himself a kissy moment. Should I have seen that coming?

Then Deacon lifted his head, eyes wide. “Don’t ever scare me like that again. Okay?”

Before either of us could say another word, Deacon darted from the door and launched himself onto the bed, soaring through the air like a human projectile. I jerked to the side with a split-second to spare. He landed with his legs on his brother and the upper part of his body between us.

Deacon threw his arms behind his head, folding them as he tipped his head back and grinned at us. “It’s like a puppy pile.”

Aiden loves to protect and Deacon his brother, is no exception. But times are tough and they need all hands on deck to fight the good fight.

“I know your over-controlling behavior comes from a good place, bro, but you can’t protect me forever and you can’t continue babying me. It’s a waste of time, because even if you forbid me to get involved, it won’t matter. You can’t stop me.” Deacon took a deep breath. “I need to help, Aiden.”

Something in what Deacon said caused Aiden to string together an atrocity of f-bombs. My brows flew up. Aiden rarely cussed or lost his cool, but boy, he was a grenade whose pin had just been pulled.

I do love Apollo, but he chooses when to make an entrance with his poofing in and out.

“You two should really get a room,: Apollo said from out of nowhere. “My poor eyes...”

I groaned. Even in his true identity, he still had impeccable timing.

“Gods,” Aiden spat. He pulled back, casting Apollo a disgusted look over my head. “Do you get off on sneaking up on us?”

“You probably don’t want to know what I get off on.”

Apollo’s lips spread into a smile. “Sorry. I’ll try to come after dinner next time.” The bowl disappeared from his hands, and I wondered where it went. “Well, it’s good to see the Scooby gang all in one piece. Warms my heart and all that jazz, but let’s get to the point.”

Another great installment in the Covenant series, so much has changed since Half-Blood. I am looking forward to reading Sentinel due for release , 2nd November 2013.

Seriously, how are they going to get out of this pile of doo doo the world has turned into?

How are they going to get the Gods to get back in their boxes and let humans rebuild?

OO , so many questions.

Michelle

BOOK REVIEW - ELIXIR by JENNIFER L ARMENTROUT - COVENANT # 3.5 - SPENCER HILL PRESS - NOVELLA - 5 STARS!

By: Jennifer L Armentrout

RATING: 5 AIDEN ST DELPHI BOOK BOYFRIEND STARS!

Aiden St. Delphi will do anything to save Alex.
Even if it means doing the one thing he will never forgive himself for.
Even if it means making war against the gods.

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

They were too young for this...for this shit.

So was Alex.

So was I.

Hell.

Another YA touchdown for Jennifer L Armentrout. She just keeps bringing the YA party to the table.

I thought Deity was bloody brilliant. Elixir, although a novella in size, it packs as much punch watching Alex through Aiden’s eyes and the emotion pouring off Aiden.

His desperation to make things right.

Whatever you do, do not omit this novella.

Read it!

Do not read it before Deity. It is #3.5 for a reason.

Aiden St. Delphi is one of the best YA book boyfriends around. He truly is a Saint. I have often wondered at the St. part of his name.

Is there a hidden meaning?

Alex is putting Aiden through emotional hell in this novella. She is what I like to refer to as possessed by Seth and she is acting all exorcist with the horrible things she is trying to verbally slay Aiden down with.

I feel like breaking out the evil laugh here as Alex is acting very different.

Knock! Knock! Anybody home?

Alex’s eyes were warm and brown like good whiskey. I’d memorized those eyes the first time I saw them in that warehouse in Atlanta. This was a different creature entirely.

“If you don’t let me out of here, I’m going to rip your brother’s ribs out and wear them as a crown.”

She sneered as she tried to pull her arm free. “Didn’t know you were such a pervert.”

Oh. Dear. Gods. Here we go again. Shaking my head, I scrubbed my hand over my eyes. “Alex...”

Aiden’s love is so strong for Alex.

So pure.

Sure he couldn’t keep his promise to her, but he can try to fix what has happened. And he will not let anybody harm Alex.

Apollo is even giving up, looking at worst case scenario. He holds all the cards.

GODS!

Deacon is still the fun brother even in times of distress for Aiden he still manages to put his foot in his mouth.

Deacon arched a brow. “Now , that’s odd...”

“Deacon,” I warned.

Alex smiled up at me, holding a bishop in her hand. “Checkmate?”

He chortled. “Good gods, she’s like Rain Man.”

.... Taking a step toward my idiot brother, I exploded. “Get the hell out of here before I strangle you within an inch of your life.”

I love how Jennifer is bringing in all these Gods with these crazy godly names, popping in and popping out with words of cryptic wisdom. Makes me want to google and read more about them.

“See, there’s the pickle.” Hearing the word “pickle” come out of Dionysus’ mouth just seemed wrong.

Sometimes I think the chick Gods are making more sense in helping Aiden.

Aiden has to find the way by himself to bring Alex back.

And I love you too much to allow what’s about to happen, but you’re leaving me no choice.”

“It’s love-- the real kind you make sacrifices for. The kind where you scream ‘screw it’ to everyone else. That’s envy-worthy.”

I love this cover the most out of the series. It makes me think of liquid and it really brings the title Elixir and its meaning to my mind when I look at it. It looks kind of drinkable.

Bring on Apollyon.

“There’s a war brewing.”

“Good night , agapi.”

Alexandria isn't sure she's going to make it to her eighteenth birthday--to her Awakening. A long-forgotten, fanatical order is out to kill her, and if the Council ever discovers what she did in the Catskills, she's a goner... and so is Aiden.

If that's not freaky enough, whenever Alex and Seth spend time "training"--which really is just Seth's code word for some up-close and personal one-on-one time--she ends up with another mark of the Apollyon, which brings her one step closer to Awakening ahead of schedule. Awesome.

But as her birthday draws near, her entire world shatters with a startling revelation and she's caught between love and Fate. One will do anything to protect her. One has been lying to her since the beginning. Once the gods have revealed themselves, unleashing their wrath, lives will be irrevocably changed... and destroyed.

Those left standing will discover if love is truly greater than Fate...

Bring. On. Elixir and Apollyon.
Giddy Up!

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

Agapi mou, zoi mou

Gods!

This. Was. Brilliant.

Deity has everything.

This was a Gods and mayhem TOUCHDOWN!!

Aiden St.Delphi is one of the most beautiful book boyfriends in YA. I absolutely adored him in Half-Blood and Gods he is even more beautiful and protective and loyal and smexi in Deity.

“It’s not an insult,” he said softly. “It’s just who you are. You don’t stop to think of the danger, only what is right. But sometimes it’s not....right.”

“I’m afraid of something.”
“What?” I whispered.
He drew in a deep , shuddering breath. “I’m afraid of never being allowed to feel what I do.”

Patient Aiden is smokin’ hot in this book.

The lad is fierce.

He rocks the Sentinel outfit.

He rocks the lurrrvvveee department.

He just rocks.

Pure and simple.

Alex is growing up. I really saw growth in her character in this book. She still has that wonderful stubborn streak, it is because she cares and she still does some rash things because she is never thinking about herself. But now, she is thinking better. She will still be dangling outside a window, verbally abusing somebody but hell, she can be funny.

My lips quirked. “I’ve really been trying , you know. Today was the first day I even did anything remotely stupid.” I left out the part where I’d been sequestered in my room with a nasty head cold.

Lordy does she have things thrown at her by Jennifer. I actually gasped at one thing. I was like WT!!! What is going on??? Gahhhh!

Quite a 3D experience was this book.

Quite the ride.

Jennifer let her hair down and waved her arms in the air as she took us on a rollercoaster of a ride with Alex, Seth and Aiden. Whahhhhh!! Throw in all the other stuff and high five to Jennifer.

The Daimon’s are not the challenge or even the danger in this book. Oh, no we have all sorts of Hematoi World dangers lurking around the corner.

Seth is brilliant in his role. He has you all getting cuddly like Alex. They have a bond. But holy mac and cheese ........................

“You were in my dream.”
One amber-coloured eye opened. “Please tell me we were naked.”
I rolled my eyes. “You’re such a perv.”

“Why do you always have to invade my personal space?”
“Because I like to.” He patted my stomach. “And deep down you like it when I do.”

Seth and Aiden have the Alex sandwich sown up quite nicely. Their  rivalry is at times amusing to watch, at times I want to shove Seth.

“She’s fine,” Seth answered. “Our training was rather...exhausting. You know, there’s a lot of moving around. Sweating, thrus--“

“Back off.”
“You really want to get involved in this?” Seth asked. “Right now?”
“More than you would ever know.”

“One man’s insanity is another man’s sanity.”

Leon is Mr Impeccable timing. I do love Leon J

“Emotions that are forced always end in tragedy.”

Deacon, well now I am seeing some funny looks going about, I am now on another sniffer trail. This one is a long shot, but again, I was noticing some things in this book.

Wow . Look who’s smiling. The world is going to end.” Two silvery eyes peeked out behind a mop of curly blond hair, and Deacon St. Delphi smirked as he dropped into the seat beside me.

“How’s it going, my favourite half-blood?”

Things will come back to haunt Alex and now the stakes are even higher.

Gods are they higher!

Then the shiz really hit the fan. Holy double mac and cheese!

This is definitely the best book to date in this series. It is quite a fierce read when all said and done. It played through my head like a freakin’ awesome movie.

Bring out the green screen.

I think this series would make a brilliant mini tv series.

Gods and Furies, Daimons, Sentinels, Half-Bloods, Pures, villains.... speaking of villains, another awesome high five to Jennifer.

Did not see that one coming.

Now I have been watching a character in Half-Blood and the same character in Pure . This is from my review of Pure :

Oh and that character I have been watching since Half- Blood, well that character is doing it again, so I am really interested to see what happens in Deity, book # 3. There is some greater meaning behind this character, I can feel it...or I am really off the sniffer trail, lol!!

Now I am gonna say, I was so on to you from book # 1. I shouted, ‘I knew it’ ,at my library book, I think it got a fright. I will not say who, as that would be spoiling. I was on the sniffer trail like a blood hound.

The Covenant series is my delicious addiction. Action, heartache, lust, love, betrayal...oh is there betrayal, surprises, twists, humor, intense scenes, awesome sub characters, sad moments and then you have Aiden and Seth and what they want from Alex.

One is pure and the other is fated.

Take a bow JLA.
