I'm looking forward to the third installment in this series. Things really took a turn in The Lost Saint. Bree certainly shook up her storyline. Check out this title. Sounds like Grace is ready to take on her enemy.

BOOK REVIEW - THE DARK DIVINE BY BREE DESPAIN

By : Bree Despain
Published By : Egmont
Release Date ; Available now
Details : Hardback 372 pages

5 STARS HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

Synopsis from www.breedespain.com

A prodigal son
A dangerous love
A deadly secret . . .
"I stood back and watched his movements. Daniel had that way about him that could shut me down in an instant. . . . I kicked the gravel a couple of times and worked up my courage again. “Tell me . . . I mean . . . why did you come back? Why now, after all this time?”

Grace Divine, daughter of the local pastor, always knew something terrible happened the night Daniel Kalbi disappeared—the night she found her brother Jude collapsed on the porch, covered in blood. But she has no idea what a truly monstrous secret that night really held. And when Daniel returns three years later, Grace can no longer deny her attraction to him, despite promising Jude she’ll stay away.
As Grace gets closer to Daniel, her actions stir the ancient evil Daniel unleashed that horrific night. Grace must discover the truth behind Jude and Daniel's dark secret . . . and the cure that can save the ones she loves. But she may have to lay down the ultimate sacrifice to do it—her soul.

The Dark Divine was another  book that many had highly recommended for me to read as soon as possible. From the first chapter I knew I was not going to be disappointed.  The imagery Bree conjured up in my mind was fantastic and I could easily see the old walnut tree from Grace's bedroom window; the steepled roof of the parish church and even the creek bed and ravine.
The desperation that Grace feels in wanting Daniel and yet not wanting to go against her family was something I felt strongly. As was the pent up hatred Jude felt towards Daniel.  Poor Daniel.... his life has frankly sucked for the most part of it.... and to top it all off he is now faced with the horrendous dilemma of allowing Grace back into his life for reasons he would rather not be his reality.
Bree has a wonderful gift and I am thankful that she shares this with us in her books.  I wait impatiently for The Lost Saint.  By the end of TDD you just know some serious action and a whole lotta smexi is going to take place!

Enjoy!

BOOK REVIEW - THE DARK DIVINE by BREE DESPAIN - THE DARK DIVINE # 1

By : Bree Despain
Published By : Egmont
Release Date ; Available now
Details : Hardback 372 pages

RATING : 5 STARS HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

Book Blurb ( from Goodreads) :

A Prodigal Son
A Dangerous Love
A Deadly Secret

Grace Divine—daughter of the local pastor—always knew something terrible happened the night Daniel Kalbi disappeared and her brother Jude came home covered in his own blood.

Now that Daniel's returned, Grace must choose between her growing attraction to him and her loyalty to her brother.

As Grace gets closer to Daniel, she learns the truth about that mysterious night and how to save the ones she loves, but it might cost her the one thing she cherishes most: her soul.

BOOK REVIEW:

I loved this book and am looking forward eagerly to , 'The Lost Saint' the sequel.

The more you read this book the more your heart goes out to Daniel. I cried for the abusive up bringing he had. Daniel's continual loss and rejection. His art is the one thing he does well. Grace , the one person he needs more than anything, can she love him?

Can Daniel ask Grace to make the choice he so desperately needs. I could 'see' this book easily.

Bree Despain writes her characters well.  Don , is her , 'Lenny ' from ''Of  Mice and Men'' ,character.

I hope Mishka makes it into the sequel she was an interesting character that I kinda wanted to read more about.

There are POWS!!! and Nummy Num Nums , I personally 'sooki la la..ed'. There are also drug references which are not explicit but define Daniel's rejected character in this book.

I wanted to climb the Walnut tree with Daniel....  The story never gets boring..it builds .

I liked the Garden of Angels scene. I thought it would visually look nice in a movie.

Sigh...FAVE QUOTES...

"Draw", he said. "I'll hold you until you're done."

" I tried to forget, " I admitted. "I tried to forget everything about you."
"You hated me that much?"
"No." I grabbed a branch and pulled myself up, my back still to him. "I missed you that much."

Daniel stopped and his mouth edged into a grin. "You have no idea what you do to me."

" I know," Barlow said. "That's what makes it so right. Your eyes - your soul is there, but the rest of you is still so undefined. That's the beauty of childhood".

The Dark Divine is a YA book.
