BOOK REVIEW - SILVER BORNE by PATRICIA BRIGGS - MERCEDES THOMPSON # 5

By : Patricia Briggs
Published By : Ace Fantasy
Released : Available Now
Details : Paperback , 292 Pages

RATING 4.5 SMEXI ALPHA STARS!!!!
Book Blurb : Taken From Goodreads

When mechanic and shapeshifter Mercy Thompson attempts to return a powerful Fae book she'd previously borrowed in an act of desperation, she finds the bookstore locked up and closed down. It seems the book contains secret knowledge-and the Fae will do just about anything to keep it out of the wrong hands. And if that doesn't take enough of Mercy's attention, her friend Samuel is struggling with his wolf side-leaving Mercy to cover for him, lest his own father declare Sam's life forfeit. All in all, Mercy has had better days. And if she isn't careful, she might not have many more to live...

BOOK REVIEW:

Samuel, Samuel, Samuel...sigh...this book is tough for him. He made me very sad when I understood his words to Mercy. I was like don't you dare.

The Pack , or somebody is messing with Mercy's brain 'mojo' , in more ways than one. She needs to find out what is going on and sort it out. Lordy I was like..aaaggghhh!!!  when the bowling ball went flying. I wondered if yelling 'foouuurrrr', would have helped...lol!!!

Adam is still just this rock of a guy for Mercy. They fit like a glove.
The insight Mercy gets into Adam's head was gorgeous. It said alot to the reader. The visual of a certain scene for Adam and Ben was making me light headed. I was telling myself not to think about it...lol! But Patricia wrote it very graphically. All I was thinking is you will have readers fainting....hee..hee. At one stage Adam had me catching my breath with his pained cry. I've had a friend in a similar situation and she can vouch ,  excrutiating.

Mercy really takes charge and deals with the Pack and shows everybody what she is made of, strength and determination. She will not back down, it's not in her nature. WWF werewolf style is not for the faint hearted either. Patricia was making me feel 'woozy' with all the bone snapping etc. I was yelling , 'yield' , for my sake. Paul needs a good slap for all this challenging he does. Give it a rest, buddy.

New characters come in to play, leading me to believe there is happiness at the end of the rainbow for Samuel. I do hope so.

The little 'boomerang ' is back...the walking stick. A book is causing trouble and mayhem in Silver Borne and people are going missing and need to be found. I'm hoping Jesse has found herself a boyfriend, if Adam can let go of his little girl. Which I doubt. I'm thinking she will be a granny before he will be able to deal with boyfriend material. Jesse ages , Adam doesn't ...interesting.*waggles eyebrows*. I love this book cover. It's a softer looking Mercy, prettier. How I envision her when I read her.

FAVE QUOTES:

"Honey is eye candy, " said Ben apologetically. "You're .... just you."
"Mine, " said Adam, edging between Heart and me.
"Mine is what she is."

"That is the most romantic thing I have ever heard you say," Bran said.  "Be careful, Adam, or you'll turn her into a real girl."

His nostrils flared, like a stallion scenting a mare. His hands dropped to my coat, and ripped it down the back and threw it on the floor before backing away from me.

BOOK REVIEW - BONE CROSSED by PATRICIA BRIGGS- MERCEDES THOMPSON # 4

By : Patricia Briggs
Published By : Ace Fantasy
Released : Available Now
Details : Paperback ,  287 Pages

RATING 4.5 BEAUTIFUL ADAM STARS!!!

By day, Mercy is a car mechanic in the sprawling Tri-Cities of Eastern Washington. By night, she explores her preternatural side. As a shapeshifter with some unique talents, Mercy has often found herself having to maintain a tenuous harmony between the human and the not so human. This time she may get more than she bargained for. Marsilia, the local Vampire Queen, has learned that Mercy crossed her by slaying a member of her clan—and she's out for blood. But since Mercy is protected from direct reprisal by the werewolf pack (and her close relationship with its sexy Alpha), it won't be Mercy's blood Marsilia is after.

It'll be her friends'.

BOOK REVIEW:

"My soul was a lot more battered than my body, but I couldn't see it in the mirror. Hopefully no one else could either. It was invisible damage that left me afraid to leave the bathroom and face Adam, who waited in my bedroom."

'Bone Crossed',  takes off from where 'Iron Kissed' , left off. Smexual tension, decisions to be made and bare boobs ...lol!! and Margi...that would be Mercy's hot mum. (Ben was the one ogling Margi , not me:D )

Stefan decides to pop in unannounced, Amber arrives on Mercy's doorstep and Margi is waving a gun. Marsilia is making her feelings known and a deaf boy needs help.

Mercy's Garage has been grafitied and Adam wants answers. Mercy takes off to find some answers and manages to get herself in a pickle again without even knowing it...until .....
Adam tries to sort out Mercy's grafiti predicament. Samuel is coping with his life.

Everybody is having a 'Happy Meal'....drive thru service only and Mercy's little boomerang just keeps coming back.

Stefan , frightens Adam, he jumps the gun and Mercy must handle his decision that has been made for her. I really like Stefan and hope he comes into play more in 'River Marked' , book # 6. He has a love for Mercy, bless him.

There are twists and turns that surprised me and made me go ewwww!!!...lol!!! That is the fun of reading Patricia's writing.

New characters are brought into play adding drama , torture and Mercy must survive everything thrown at her, not to mention surviving the panic attacks that plague her damaged soul.

Adam is gorgeous , patient, so smexily masculine and gruff and solid through and through. Some pack may not like it , but,  it is what it is.

FAVE QUOTES:

Samuel grinned. "We have it pretty well worked out as far as the sex goes - Adam gets it - someday - and I don't. But the rest is still up for negotiation."

His arms closed around me, pressing flesh painfully hard against bone. Love hurts like that sometimes.

He threw up his hands and appealed to me. " How can he think Dragon Ball Z is better than Scooby - Doo? This generation has no appreciation for the classics."

"Want to explain to the kid I'm more a Spike than a Buffy? A villian , not a superhero?"

"Do you think that means I won't get to see him in spandex?"

" It is shaming to me, to be what I am. The man I was would never have accepted life at the expense of so many. But I am not he, not any longer."

"These things drive like anemic school buses," he said. " Odd that it should be so much fun."

BOOK REVIEW - IRON KISSED by PATRICIA BRIGGS - MERCEDES THOMPSON # 3

By : Patricia Briggs
Published By : Ace Fantasy
Released : Available Now
Details : Paperback , 287 Pages

RATING 5 GORGEOUS ADAM HAUPTMAN STARS!!

Book Blurb : Taken from back of book

Mechanic, Mercy Thompson can shift her shape- but not her loyalty. When her former boss and mentor is arrested for murder and left to rot behind bars by his own kind, it's up to Mercy to clear his name, whether he wants it or not..........

BOOK REVIEW:

I loooove this book cover so far the best. It tells me alot about Mercedes . Mechanic, has her own business, Native American looking and attractive and her name . If I may be so bold as to say ,  I would have loved this as the first book cover. * ducks any flying pillows headed my way* Just a personal observation, not saying anybody has to agree with me. It just shows me alot about Mercy.

I am thoroughly enjoying this fast paced, well written series. In 'Iron Kissed',  Patricia's writing blew me away with a certain chapter. Very carefully written,  it both shocked and surprised me. This is my favourite book in the series to date.

Zee, was needing Mercy's non human form to assist him with fae business. This helpful act started a chain of events . The fae don't like Mercy knowing their business. Mercy has made enemies with the vampires , she needs to watch her back. Adam takes matters into his own hands, all business like , hooking Mercy's Garage up with state of the art security.

Samuel and his violin concert had me wanting to hear him play. I wondered when reading if the audio book ( must check to see if there is one) would have the concert music on it. I really wanted to hear Samuel play.

As the reader, we get more of an understanding of what the pack and especially Adam who has claimed Mercy as his mate, are going through with Mercy needing to make a decision.

I was very happy with the way Patricia wrote Adam , Samuel and Mercy's situation. She showed the reader that it is a very complicated thing being mated. It involves more than 2 people, it involves the pack and the way the pack handles it and  Mercy's need to not be controlled. All 3 of them had to dig deep and sort out how their friendship was going to work. Something has to give, it can't go on the way it is. Samuel and Mercy have to discover what ground they are on .

Ben was a surprise in 'Iron Kissed', I really like Ben's character. Adam is showing more and more why he is rightfully the Alpha. My heart gets lost totally to Adam's character in 'Iron Kissed' .

New characters come into play. Mercy has her own version of the 'boomerang', quite a puzzling thing.

Patricia is the perfect book seamstress, weaving all these threads together to make such a great series.

FAVE QUOTES:

I must have sounded like a ninny, but it didn't faze Darryl.
"You keep bothering the monsters, Mercy , and someday something's going to eat you."

He paused when he came to my belly. He let the towel drop away and dropped to one knee until his face was on level with my navel. He closed his brilliant eyes and pressed his forehead against the vulnerable softness under my rib cage.

"Some people are like Slinkies. They aren't really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to my face when I push them down a flight of stairs."

"She sees ghosts,” said Samuel, impatient with my whining.
I see dead people,” I deadpanned back. Oddly, it was Uncle Mike who laughed. I hadn’t thought he’d be a moviegoer."

BOOK REVIEW - BLOOD BOUND by PATRICIA BRIGGS - MERCEDES THOMPSON # 2

By : Patricia Briggs
Published By : Ace Fantasy
Released : Available Now
Details : Paperback , 292 Pages

RATING 4.5 SMEXI ALPHA STARS!!!!

Mechanic Mercy Thompson has friends inlow places - and in dark ones.
And now she owes one of them a favor. Since she can shapeshift at will, she agrees to act as some extra muscle when her vampire friend Stefan goes to deliver a message to another of his kind.

But this new vampire is hardly ordinary.....

BOOK REVIEW:

I'm in deep with this series. I had not read any Patricia Briggs before I picked up Mercedes Thompson series. I will be reading her Alpha & Omega series set in Mercy Thompson's world, next.

I am just loving the way Patricia writes her characters. I can't fault them. Her characters have depth . More is revealed about certain characters and their struggles the more you read. They aren't 2 dimensional.

In 'Blood Bound', Stefan has called in a favour with Mercy , needing her non human form. From the 1st chapter, what should have been an easy assignment for Stefan for his Mistress, Marsilia, goes from bad to really bad in the blink of an eye.  A vampire is hard enough to cope with , but a Demon possessed vampire who is on a mission...now that's trouble with a capital V. Stefan has his hands full trying to appease Marsilia and keep the peace with the werewolves. Adam has his hands full with his Pack and Mercy isn't staying out of trouble.  'Blood Bound' gets quite dark in this story, well darker than 'Moon Called'.

I keep on trying to decide if these are YA reads or older end of the scale YA reads or not YA reads. I love Adam's need to not swear in front of a woman. Mercy's character can be in the nuddy when she changes back to her human self in front of the Pack. The care that Patricia takes when writing those scenes you can tell its important it comes across the right way. Book #3 (which blew me away) , was written with the utmost care but it was a very dark and troubled book , in parts, for Mercy.

Zee is always there to help out around Mercy's Garage when she can't. No matter what, he is always there for Mercy when she needs him. I like Zee's character alot , I am still trying to get to know him  as there is a lot more to Zee than he is letting on, he must keep secrets about himself and the fae.  Mercy has known him 10 years and has never seen his true self, what the glamour hides.

The book covers, which I do love, show Mercy very sexily clad. In the books I love that she will be hunting for a clean T-shirt or one with limited stains, can wear the same jeans for several days but still she oozes smexiness. If stressed, or unable to sleep she bakes brownies.

I'm glad to know that Patricia Briggs was contracted to 7 books in this series with the possibility of more as I just love them:D
All the main characters have a special place in my heart. Even Ben in book # 3 , 'Iron Kissed', grows on me.

FAVE QUOTE:

"His heart's occupied elsewhere," said Ben from behind me. "And even if it weren't he's not interested in your kind. But, I'm available and ready."
"You don't have a heart," I told him.” Just a gaping hole where it should have been. "
"All the more reason for you to give me yours. "
I pounded my forehead against Warren 's back. "Tell me Ben's not flirting with me. "
"Hey," said Ben sounding hurt. "I was talking cannibalism, not romance."

BOOK REVIEW - MOON CALLED by PATRICIA BRIGGS - MERCEDES THOMPSON # 1

By: Patricia Briggs
Published By : Ace Fantasy
Released : Available Now
Details : Paperback , 288 Pages

RATING 4.5 SMEXI ADAM STARS!!!!!!

Book Blurb : Taken From Goodreads

Werewolves can be dangerous if you get in their way, but they'll leave you alone if you are careful. They are very good at hiding their natures from the human population, but I'm not human. I know them when I meet them, and they know me, too.
Mercy Thompson's sexy next-door neighbor is a werewolf.
She's tinkering with a VW bus at her mechanic shop that happens to belong to a vampire.

But then, Mercy Thompson is not exactly normal herself ... and her connection to the world of things that go bump in the night is about to get her into a whole lot of trouble.

BOOK REVIEW :

I've had the Mercedes Thompson series on my TBR pile for some time now. A friend told me how much she loved them , so they jumped the queue (I like to go on personal recommendations) and so I read 'Moon Called' ,  book # 1 in the series.  This was not quite what I was expecting. I think I was expecting a kick ass, tough chick who slayed them all down with ease with big breasts and a lot of tough dialogue, just from the book cover and nothing else....lol!!!

Well!!! I love Mercedes, Mercy ( to friends) , she is the coolest, smartest, tattoo covered female character and I want to be her..lol!!!! She has integrity, loyalty, she cares deeply for her friends and puts others ahead of herself and is an awesome mechanic.

Patricia writes Mercy's interaction with Adam so well throughout the series. I have read all the books currently available and I want more, now!!!  5 books in 6 days I read them all, I was addicted.

CHARACTERS:

Mercedes Thompson, Mercy - Mechanic who primarily works on German vehicles. I think her age in book #1 was around 31 yrs old.

Medea - Mercy's cat who likes to hang out at Adams house next door.

Bran, the Marrok - Samuel's father, uberwerewolf of them all.

Adam Hauptman - Alpha Columbian Basin Pack and uber smexi werewolf. Age mid 20's.

Jesse - Adam's 15 yr old daughter.

Pack - Darryl, Warren, Samuel , Paul, Ben, to name some.

Siebold Adelbertsmiter, aka  Zee - Metallzauber. A fae that can handle metal of all kinds and Mercy's friend and ex boss.

Stefan -  Vampire who likes to drive a VW bus painted like 'The Mystery Machine',  from Scooby Doo and Mercy's loyal friend.

I knew I was going to love this series the minute I met Adam, Stefan and Samuel , who intrigued me and the story of 'Moon Called' unfolded and showed me the type of solid person Mercy and the other characters are. Mercedes isn't a pushover, she needs her independence and knows how to handle these guys.

This would be the first book series I have read, about werewolves,  among otherworld characters, that really showed the political side to being in a werewolf pack. Patricia wrote it very well. I love Twilight Saga books, but, the werewolf packs were written very very basically compared to this series. Just to watch whose eyes you were looking into and when to roll onto your back, expose your belly and neck, when to place your body lower than the wolf in front of you , the challenges , when an Alpha is hurt, how to keep him safe and Pack magic. It was an enormous amount of detail into the politics of being a werewolf. I really enjoyed 'feeling' that it was a difficult life to live and 'feeling', the power of the Alpha and 2nd in command. Being an Alpha is hard work. I 'felt',  how dangerous a werewolf really is , how the 2 parts,  the human and the wolf , have to work together to exist.

Mercedes is just such a well written female character. Her personal strength to stay independent and live her own life , pay her own bills was refreshing. She doesn't sit back, she will jump in head first and help where she can, even breaking a few rules along the way and taking a few knocks herself. Her loyalty to those in her life never faulters.

I've deliberately kept secrets from those of you who haven't started this series as I want them to unfold rather than have you told.

I would recommend having all the books currently available in your grasp so you can carry on without delay. I now have to figure out how to review the next 4 books without spoilers. Not an easy feat.

 FAVE QUOTE:

"Mine" he said.
Adam's eyes narrowed." I don't think so. She is mine."
It would of been flattering, I thought, except that at least one of them was talking about dinner and I wasn't certain about the other."
