Excerpt: Debt Inheritance: Meet Jethro & Nila

ONE - Nina's POV

“Huge disappointment, Ms. Weaver.” His cold glare sent a snowstorm wiping away the bonfire in my belly. “I’m done playing games, so cut the bullshit. Time to begin the day.” His voice gave no room for interpretation. A cold draft shot down my back.

My brief reprieve from debts and horrible Hawks was over. I’d been shown something I desperately wanted, but denied it because I failed to please him.

“You could teach me…show me how…” I couldn’t make eye contact with him. Mortification painted my cheeks for both admitting I was clueless and asking a monster to coach me.

Jethro laughed. “You think that will save you from what’s coming? Was that your little plan? To make me fuck you in the hopes I might feel something for you?”

TWO - Jethro's POV

I stood up slowly, clicking my tongue. “Ah, ah, ah, Ms. Weaver. Don’t take that tone with me. You’re the failure. You’re the prisoner. You take what I give you. You do not assume to have any say or authority. That includes listening to everything I deem important to tell you.” Ghosting to a stop in front of her, I murmured, “Is that quite understood?”

I flexed my muscles, welcoming back the soothing chillness of control. I hadn’t liked stepping outside my confines of civility. Things got messy when silence was disrupted. Things got rushed when tempers rose and curses flowed.

And I didn’t want to rush her undoing. I wanted to savour it.

Devour it.

BOOK REVIEW - RAW by BELLE AURORA - EROTIC DARK ROMANCE - SELF PUBLISHED

By: Belle Aurora
Published By: Belle Aurora
Released : Available Now
Details : Kindle, 333 Pages

RATING: 4.5 DARK TWITCH STARS!

Blurb: Goodreads

***Author Note: This is not a love story. This is a story of love gone wrong.***

Growing up the way I did, you’d think I’d be more screwed up than what I actually am.

Soon as I turned sixteen, I left that bump in the road I called home and took my chances on the street.

Best decision I ever made.

Now, at the age of twenty six, I’m educated, employed and damn good at my job.

My friends have become my family. Like me, they know what it’s like to grow up unloved.

But the saying is true.

The world makes way for those who know where they are going.

That’s me.

I know where I’m going and I’ll get there eventually. On my own terms and at my own pace.

But then there’s him.

I feel his eyes on me. I see him hiding in plain sight. He watches me.

He makes me feel.

It’s unconventional.

But it’s real.

I’m sure you’re wondering how a person falls in love with their stalker.

So am I.

This isn’t a story.

This is my life.

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

“I’m the villain in this story.”

Twitch is a character that kept me turning the pages. He is a very addictive character. He is unapologetically dark and at times a little twisted.

He is memorable.

Twitch is one of those breed of characters that can shake up a reader. They are raw, gritty, dark, challenging to read and understand at times, controversial, but they are addictive to read.

There’s something about Twitch.
He’s just...raw.
Everything about him is raw. And gritty. And unbound.
He’s a raging fire.

They are page turners for a lot of us. We want to understand what makes them tick.

What is their back story?

What dark thing are they going to do next?

His eyes flash once more before he closes his eyes and lowers his forehead to mine. He says hoarsely, “I’m gonna hurt you.”A statement.

I did really like Twitch’s voice. His personality throws curveballs at the reader quite often. I didn’t find him predictable.

He is intense.

“There’s only one way I fuck.”
The words are so crude that my lips part and I huff in an unsteady breath.
He takes a step forward, his eyes never leaving mine. “Dirty.” Watching my reaction, he adds, “And this type of dirty...” he breathes deep and says on an exhale, “... it doesn’t wash off.”

From the prologue we know who Twitch is in relation to Lexi. That isn’t a secret to us as the reader. What we don't know is Twitch has secrets for the reader to discover along the way.

I liked the whole dark, stalkering side to him.

Taking a step towards me, his hooded brown eyes almost see right through me. “Monsters don’t always lurk in the shadows.”

Reaching up, he runs a fingertip slowly down the length of my jaw. Leaning forward, his breath warms me as he mutters a hairs-breadth away from my lips, “Sometimes they hide in plain sight.”

Twitch in a way, corrupted Lexi and she quite easily fell into his sexual style and accepted his help in making things go away. Lexi is a caseworker and she deals with teenagers and helps to keep them off the streets and she listens to them. She is good at her job. The kids all like her. Her morals were let down a little when it came to Twitch taking over and ...

It wouldn’t have been hard for an anonymous person to have destroyed Lexi’s career with just a phone call. She was putting a lot on the line becoming embroiled in Twitch’s nefarious life.

“Don’t ask, don’t tell, Alexa.”

Lexi discovers a lot about herself that I think would have stayed dormant if she hadn't met him.

Twitch really drives this book. Lexi was a good character but she was a bit of a chameleon. From what we know of her, she didn’t appear to be Twitch’s type.

Ling. Yes!

I will admit Ling was a little hard to read at times, but she should be. I feel like I want to know more about her. She is showing me a very damaged soul. I could read a book about Ling.

I did have a few plot questions. But that is me as a reader, I note when I read and I ask myself questions.

The sub characters were great. Dave and Nikki I felt I knew them even though I didn’t get to read a lot about them. I knew exactly where I stood with their sexual desires/fantasy’s. I knew they were good people for Lexi.

I really liked Happy too. He has a great personality. I like the way he stood up to Twitch and how they behaved with each other. I liked how he behaved around Lexi.

Happy stands, takes out a handkerchief from his shirt pocket, and dabs at his bloody lip, panting. “That’s exactly why you need to see someone, bro.”We stare at each other. “You’re not fine. I don’t think you’ve been fine a day in your life.”

Raw was a page turner for me, mainly because of Twitch as he has a presence in this book that is hard to turn away from. He is a dark, dominating character who when challenged gives no second chances.

Popping a piece of candy into his mouth, he sucks on the button and utters,”Yeah, about that. I don’t do well with being threatened. And I definitely don’t take orders. But you’ll learn all this. Eventually. "

His dark side is quite frightening. I like a 3D read and Raw is definitely a 3D read.

He ushers me in, gives the driver my address, then says to me sadly, “Not everyone can be a fairy-tale hero.” He pauses a moment, then adds, “The world needs villains too.”

I had a favorite scene in this book and it was quite powerful. I'm not going to describe the scene as that will be a spoiler. I have instead torn a scrap off of the quote I thought was powerful.

..."What are you meant to be?"
His gaze roams my body once more. His hooded eyes finally reach mine. Searching my face a long time, he finally turns away, looking into the crowd.
"Love."

I did like the ending. I know another author who showed me it is ok to do these type of endings. She knows who she is.

Belle left me gob smacked during the story. My mouth was literally catching flies. I did not see that coming and I love feeling that in a read. Having to spit flies out wasn’t much fun, though.

I also got that doubled-over-emotional-kick-in-the-guts from Belle.

I love it when an author can do that to me. I paid my money and the ride didn't disappoint.

I am quite happy if this stays stand alone as I felt the style of the whole book... it was a great ending.

Complimented the story.

Belle and any author who writes a story likes this, will inevitably have some readers jumping up and down. I appreciate this style of story because it isn’t supposed to be a bed of roses. It is supposed to be dark and dangerous and deadly and difficult to witness in parts. That is what the author sets out to do.

Mission accomplished, Belle.

ATTENTION LOVERS OF
THE LAST RIDERS SERIES AND SHADE & LILY!

The first chapter of Shade & Lily’s book – SHADE’S FALL – is in the back of Tainted! You don’t want to miss this!

Excerpt

“Did I give you permission to touch me?” This time it was Sawyer throwing his words back in his face.

Kaden gave a low, seductive laugh. “Did that make you angry, Sawyer? I didn’t mean to make you angry. Which do you appreciate more: something easily given, or something you have to ask for, something you crave?”

“I didn’t notice that woman sitting next to you last night asking to touch you.”

He shrugged nonchalantly. “Did you see me touch her back?”

Sawyer had to admit to herself that she hadn’t seen him touch the woman back.

“Do you want to know if I fucked her last night, Sawyer?” Kaden asked, leaning down to whisper his question in her ear.

Sawyer trembled under his seductive spell. She had never been so intensely pursued by a man before. She’d had several that had flirted with her—even Rick when he had been luring her into his sick web of lies had made her feel wanted—but she had always been aware that he would forget about her five minutes after leaving the restaurant. She had eventually agreed to go out with him because he had discovered her desire to eat at one of the finer restaurants in town whose chef had recently won a prestigious cooking award.

“N—no, I don’t, Kaden. I—I don’t care who you fuck,” Sawyer lied to both of them.

“I didn’t. I believe Alana ended up in Sin’s bed after he finished with Megan.”

“How benevolent of him to share himself around,” Sawyer said, disgusted.

“I believe that’s what he thinks. I, on the other hand, have learned that quality is much more exciting than quantity, so I spent my night taking cold showers and jerking off, thinking about you.”

Author Bio

I was born in a small town in Kentucky. My family began poor, but worked their way to owning a restaurant. My mother was one of the best cooks I have ever known, and she instilled in all her children the value of hard work and education.

Taking after my mother, I’ve always loved to cook, and became pretty good if I do say so myself. I love to experiment and my unfortunate family has suffered through many. They now have learned to steer clear of those dishes. I absolutely love the holidays and my family puts up with my zany decorations.

For now, my days are spent at work and I write during the nights and weekends. I have two children who both graduate next year from college. My daughter does my book covers, and my son just tries not to blush when someone asks him about my books.

Currently, I am writing three series of books- The Last Riders that is fairly popular, The Dark Souls series, which is not, and The VIP Room, which we will soon see. My favorite book I have written is Soul Of A Woman, which I am hoping to release during the summer of 2014. It took me two years to write, during which I lost my mother and brother. It’s a book that I truly feel captures the true depths of love a woman can hold for a man. In case you haven’t figured it out yet, I am an emotional writer who wants the readers to feel the emotion of the characters they are reading. Because of this, Teased is probably the hardest thing I have written.

All my books are written for one purpose - the enjoyment others find in them and the expectations of my fans that inspire me to give it my best. In the near future I hope to take a weekend break and visit Vegas (hopefully be next summer). Right now, I am typing away on Shade’s and Lily’s story and the beautiful Kentucky winter weather.

EXCERPT

The big house was silent; it was only 7:30 am. I assumed everyone was still asleep. Quietly, I padded my way downstairs to the kitchen. It was time I had a turn at preparing breakfast for everyone.

I looked up toward the doorway, Nick came sauntering in, only wearing his pajama pants. They hung off his hips in a way that made my insides unfurl, the path from his navel going south covered by a thin line of dark hair, his well-defined abs opening up to a glorious chest with a smattering of dark hair begging to be touched. Oh my! Nicholas Gallagher definitely works out.

His sleep-mussed hair was sexy as hell, and the dark shadow from his stubble gave him a rugged appearance. He saw me and instantly his lips curled into a killer smile, his green eyes smouldering beneath his dark brows. My belly pulled tight and I had to squeeze my legs together to ease the itch that settled between my legs. God! He was mouth-watering. I would love to let that stubble scratch my itch.

“What a lovely surprise.” He stood behind me and pulled me into his hard chest, his stubble scraping my neck as he planted a warm and wet kiss on my skin. Then he turned me around and before I knew it, he’d lifted me onto the kitchen counter. He pushed my legs open and positioned himself between them, cupping my face in his big hand.

“You look so sexy,” he breathed, peering at me from under his thick black lashes.

“You don’t look too bad yourself,” I said as I messed his hair even more with both my hands. My fingers could not keep still, they had to touch him. “Breakfast smells good. How long before it comes

“I only just put it in. Another thirty minutes…”

“Hmm,” he groaned as his mouth found mine, “no time to waste.” He slid his hands over my shoulders and found my breasts. He squeezed them in his warm hands, before rubbing his thumbs over the tight nubs. His touch sent bolts of electricity straight to my groin. Heat pooled between my legs. My panties dampened against my skin.

His hands trembled lightly as he skimmed them over my ribs, and the curve of my hips, till he found the hem of my nightdress and pushed the silky fabric up my thighs, exposing my apex. Next he slipped his fingers under the lace of my panties, into my slick wetness. I drew in a sharp breath, the feel of his finger exquisite on my swollen flesh.

“Ah God, so wet,” he moaned. “I need to taste you.”

I don’t know whose need was greater, his to taste me or mine to have his mouth on me.

Interview with Jani Kay – author of ‘Open Your Eyes’

What is it that you enjoy about writing fiction?

When I write I go into a different world. It is the purest form of escape. Time stands still. All my senses are engaged. I am fully alive, but in an alternative universe. It is a feeling unlike any other. Addictive.

I love peeling back the layers and discovering all that is hidden beneath the surface of the book characters. I want to keep digging till I get to the very core of them – of what makes them tick, their inner desires, their conflicts and fears - searching into their very soul.

I am an observer of people and their behaviours; you will always find me in the back corner of a café, sipping a latte, watching people, imagining what goes on in their lives.

When did you first know you wanted to become a writer?

My childhood dream was to be a writer - I wrote elaborate stories with well-developed plots and characters. I told my younger brothers stories I made up as I went, every night before bed. I have a VERY active imagination... My writing style is the same – I am what is known as a ‘pantser’ - weaving stories by the seat of my pants, making it up as I go, letting the characters speak for themselves. I merely record the story they show me in a movie in my head.

As a teenager I spent school vacations reading. I would start a book in the morning and only close my eyes when done at around 3 am, sleep a bit, wake and start the next book... I have always been a voracious reader...

I would spend my last dollar on a book. Reading gives insight into another human being’s thoughts, expands your mind - all for the small price of a book – often less than the cost of a coffee. Amazing!

What made you write your first book?

Fear of failure is the biggest stumbling block to realising our dreams. All my life up until last year, I waited, thinking I had to write something really profound. Then one day I had an AHA moment - I realised I didn’t need to, I could simply write what I enjoyed and connected with - steamy adult romance... seems there are an awful lot of people who like reading it...

I realised that time is fleeting, that I had do it NOW - not waiting any longer to realise my dreams. I had to open my eyes to the possibilities. I didn’t want to die with regrets of never having the courage to follow my passion of writing.

Tell us about ‘Open Your Eyes’ – your début novel.

I started writing Open Your Eyes in the air, flying between Australia and New York in January 2013. It's a very long flight…

I’d just been to New York for New Year – to see the ball drop in Times Square with my daughter – something on our ‘bucket list’. So a big part of the story plays off in New York.

In Open Your Eyes, Natalie is a disillusioned forty year old woman who is in search of inner peace and tranquillity; she wants to escape her problems by having a fun and relaxing vacation in NYC with her feisty daughter, Olivia. No pressure, no worries, no complications…

Natalie believes in second chances in spite of her demons. Separated from domineering Gabriel – whose cruel and jealous ways hurt her deeply – she still hopes for reconciliation for her family’s sake.

However, her world is turned upside down when she unexpectedly meets a charming, seductive bachelor – the famous photographer Nicholas Gallagher - who awakens her latent desires and sweeps her off her feet in a delicious holiday romance.

Just as Natalie starts falling for Nick, Fate steps in. Caught up in a heart wrenching love triangle, she is forced to make a difficult choice. Gabriel is her first love, the man whose name and children she bears. Nick truly sees her, deep into her soul. Both men want her. Who will she choose? Because above all, Natalie wants a second chance at love and happiness.

So one of the issues we explore in ‘Open Your Eyes’ is how she deals with her search for her true soul mate. Is it ever too late; are we ever too old to stop yearning for that special connection?

Why is ‘Open Your Eyes’ based on mature adults?

Natalie is forty, experienced and mature, but she still has a LOT of living left in her. So we follow her journey in ‘Open Your Eyes’. And yes, sex is still very hot and steamy at that age!! Probably even better, as she is in the prime of her life... she knows what she likes.

KIMBERLEY CLARK - GIVEAWAY - INTERVIEW - EXCERPT - THE SPECIES WITHIN - BATTLES IN THE DARK # 1 - EROTIC URBAN FANTASY - SELF PUBLISHED - AUSSIE AUTHOR ROAD TRIP - DAY 24

Day 24: The magical Kombi van is back in Queensland and I am visiting with debut author , Kimberley Clark. I have a Q & A session with her and she has her new book to show off. Check out her excerpt and her giveaway.

Welcome Kimberley.

AUTHOR BIO:

Kimberley lives by the idea that everyone should have a bucket list of things they want to accomplish in life, but not only to have a list, but attempt to mark off as many items as possible. One goal that was high on hers was writing a novel and having it published. This idea of writing a novel wasn’t new to her, but an inevitability, as her love of reading books and watching movies inspired her to create her own stories. When the day came that she finally did start to write, she realized that this was going to be something that she wanted to do more than once, emphasized by the fact that her first novel was to be book 1 of a trilogy, and that there are many more stories waiting inside her head ready to be created. Her hope is that not only for people to enjoy hers books, but that people are inspired by them as others have inspired her.

Kimberley was born in Sydney, Australia, and currently resides in the Gold Coast hinterland.

5 Quick Things

A quote that means something to you.

Never apologise for being nerdy, because unnerdy people never apologize for being assholes.” - John Barrowman

A song that describes you.

Fighter – Christina Aguilera

 Who is your book boyfriend?

Strider from The Darkest Surrender
(Lords of the Underworld series) by Gena Showalter

Strider is possessed by the demon of defeat and must accept and win any challenge asked of him. The competitor inside me relates to this character, and I appreciate someone who will strive to beat whatever challenges them. Not to mention that the character has been portrayed as someone quite dangerous and sexy (who doesn’t love a bad boy), and I wouldn’t mind giving him a few challenges myself that has nothing to do with killing or fighting people.

Author that inspired you and why?

Stephen King. He is able to make the ordinary of situations seem so scary that you become afraid to turn the lights out. A testament of a great writer, and a level to aspire to in the way that he makes people feel in the moment the way he wants them to react.

So the moment she found out that Darius, a nostvore leader was threatening to awaken an indestructible species to help him enslave all humans and mythlends, and that she may be the key to his plan, she knew her only choice was to risk her life with the little time that she had left and join her enemy to find out why, and to make sure his plan failed.

If that wasn’t dangerous enough, the more time she spends with the Vanatre nostvore Emmerich, and the mooran Kuron, who she brings with her for protection, the less she wants to kill them. Instead, she feels an unexplainable attraction towards them both, and she fears surrendering to such desire with either is a deadly game to play, for she would not only be risking her life, but quite possibly her heart.

Q & A SESH with KIMBERLEY

Michelle:  What five words describe Kimberley Clark the AUTHOR?

Kimberley: Day-dreamer, Motivated, Goal-driven, Dark, Sexual

Michelle: What five words describe the person behind the author?

Kimberley: Nerd, Loyal, Sarcastic, Fighter, Independent

Michelle:  What five words each describe :

Kimberley:  Darius – Narcissistic, Self-absorbed, Leader, Ignorant, Untrustworthy

Emmerich – Warrior, Sexy, Moody, Tracker, Passionate

Kuron – Loyal, Protective, Gorgeous, Dangerous, Ancient

Kira – Beautiful, Dying, Huntress, Vengeful, Powerful

Michelle:  What quote is your favorite from The Species Within?

Kimberley:  “Aeternum vale,” ~ What Kira says to her victims before they die. It means goodbye forever in Latin.

Michelle:  Is there a song you listened to the most while writing your debut book and why?

Kimberley: No. I can’t listen to music while I write because I get too excited if a song I like comes on and I turn the volume up and start singing. Not good when you’re trying to focus on a story line. I need complete silence when writing.

Michelle: What has been the one thing that stands out to you in your journey as a writer?

Kimberley: That the hard work doesn’t end when you have finished the manuscript. Everything that goes after it is just as hard, especially if you are taking the self-publishing route, whether it be getting it edited, formatted, finding a book cover design, where to distribute it, and most of all, the promotion and marketing involved.

Michelle:  Casting call. Could you please give me images of who you think best represents Kira, Darius, Emmerich and Kuron.

Kimberley: Hardest thing I have ever tried to do. In the book, there are a number of characters that I envisioned someone playing, but my main characters I haven’t been able to put a face to yet. I’ll try my best…

Kira – Jenna Dewan-Tatum (Step Up)

Darius – Daniel Gillies (The Vampire Diaries)

Emmerich – Stephen Amell (Arrow)

Kuron – Henry Cavill (Man of Steel)

Michelle: You have interesting names for your characters. How did you choose your character names?

Kimberley: Besides Kira who is a human and therefore I just chose a name that I happened to like, I had to choose names for all my characters that could possible belong to someone that was hundreds, even thousands of years old. I did this by going through all the ancient civilizations and looking at names of those times. Kuron was probably the only exception to this, where it was just a name I came up for a creature.

Michelle: Where were you and what were you doing when you came up for the initial idea for your book?

Kimberley: If I remember correctly, I was most likely in bed going over either a book or movie in my head (most likely a movie) and thinking of an alternate ending for the movie/book, or what story I would tell that was in the same world. It had always played on my mind that I wanted to be in the movie industry, and many people told me as such since I loved movies so much. The thing was, I didn’t know how to write a movie script, so instead I decided one night to write a novel using inspiration from my favourite vampire movies and books and created a story outline in my head that I wanted to be told with an ending I wanted to have.

Michelle: What has been the most memorable book signing or book event you have been to and why?

Kimberley: Have only been to one event, and that was a writer’s convention where people could sit in on panels on different facets of the world of publishing. Going to this showed me how much there was still to learn, and it also answered many questions I had about what direction I would take with certain things. It also motivated me to do a lot more research into the industry, since I was new to all this and had no clue as to what anyone was talking about.

I also found particularly interesting the panel on erotica vs. romance. Seeing these authors speak about something that a lot of people found to be taboo inspired me to continue in the direction I was headed when writing my novel, which in the end turned out to be an erotic urban fantasy. I found this rather funny because I originally started out writing the book as a paranormal romance. It seemed I was a bit more dark and dirty than I ever expected.

Michelle: If your life at this point in time could be described in a chocolate flavor or an ice cream flavor, what flavor would it be and why?

Kimberley: Chocolate swirl. When I think of this flavor, I think about the different types of chocolate involved.

The dark chocolate: The flavor I represent as parts of my life I could take or leave e.g housework (Yes, I know! But sometimes good for therapeutic reasons), shopping. I’m not a huge fan of this flavor, but don’t mind it every now and then.

The white chocolate: The flavor I represent as parts of my life I can’t stand e.g road works, being sick/injured, dealing with aggressive people at work, bills etc.

Then there is the milk chocolate flavor, my favorite type of chocolate. This represents the parts of my life I enjoy e.g krav maga, learning about the book/publishing industry, movies/tv shows, reading, spending time with my cats etc.

That leaves now the swirl of the actual ice cream. The swirl I feel represents all of these parts of my life mixing together and indicates how busy my life is at the moment which each flavor playing a part in my life whether I like it or not.

 Excerpt

Jorin and Satre strode over to the foot of the bed and waited, drawing Kira’s attention back to her current problem.

“Instead I am going to let one of the things you hate most eat you.” The female grinned.

Kira’s eyes narrowed.

“But I am willing to let you choose if you like? Which will it be?” She walked over behind the nostvore and put her arms around him, looking over his shoulder at her. “Sucked dry by our lovely Jorin here?” Taking her arms from around the nostvore, she then walked behind the lycrould and put her arms around him rubbing her hands all over his muscle-bound chest and stomach. “Or, eaten by this gorgeous hunk of meat, Satre?” She walked around to the side of the bed again. “Or are you greedy with your men like I am and wish to choose both?” she smiled devilishly.

“Wow! Fancy that! Psychotic and a whore! Never saw that coming,” she said under her breath.

The female heard it regardless. The smile left her face and her eyes darkened in anger. “I think being torn to pieces is the better choice, don’t you think?” She nodded to Satre who smirked in delight and hunger. He turned his head towards Kira and she could see that his eyes had already started to glow that brilliant electric blue as all lycroulds eyes did when they were about to fight or feed, the exact same blue that her eyes would turn, except when they turned silver of course.

Satre groaned as the bones in his body quickly started to break and reshape, his muscles and tendons realigned, fur grew over the entire expanse of his body, and his face turned into a snout with a mouth full of extremely sharp teeth. The process of one transforming into its true form was a fast but painful ordeal and it wasn’t long before a gigantic wolf-creature stood on all fours at the head of the bed next to the certifiably crazy female.

The lycrould growled at her as it made its way to her beside the bed, saliva dripping from its mouth. Its blue eyes glowed brighter as it got closer and it licked its lips with anticipation.

This was definitely not the way she saw herself dying, but she guessed you didn’t always get a say on when and how it would happen. But still…it seriously pissed her off. She blamed that fuckin’ nostvore Emmerich for putting her in this position. Why the hell would he leave her like this, unable to defend herself? Was that the plan…if she got killed in the process of the invasion so be it? One less enemy they had to worry about? Was his attempt at seeing to her welfare when she was in pain his way of providing her with a false sense of comfort? A psychological trick to make her feel safe in his company?

The more she thought about and questioned it the more furious she became. It was her turn for her eyes to glow with menace, pulsing with light. If she couldn’t fight them, then she at least was not going to give them the satisfaction of seeing her scared. Fuck them and their twisted sadistic and masochistic natures.

“C’mon fucker! Come and get me,” she snarled at the lycrould. She didn’t fail to notice the look of glee that was plastered over the female’s face at Kira’s impending doom.

The lycrould growled in response to her taunt and placed its two front paws onto the bed beside her. The bed creaked under the pressure of its weight. It opened its mouth wide, its teeth long and razor sharp, and ready to attack.

As it went for her throat she closed her eyes with acceptance and waited. She heard a huge rip of flesh. But there was no pain.

Something warm dripped over her body and face. She opened her eyes. It was blood…but it wasn’t hers. She looked up at the lycrould puzzled. Its eyes looked down at her, wide with shock. Its throat had been slit, the blood dripping fast onto her body. There was also a sword protruding from its chest. She watched as the sword quickly disappeared into the lycrould’s body, and then she finally saw the person standing behind Satre with the bloodied sword in his hand.

Emmerich! He had saved her and he looked pissed.

He resheathed the sword on his back. His eyes drifted to hers momentarily, but then slid away to the other figures in the room. He snarled and went for the nostvore. Jorin didn’t even know what was happening before Emmerich was ripping his head off with such brute strength it made Kira even feel intimidated by his power. He turned to the human and was surprised when she kicked him so fast and with such an enormous amount of strength in the stomach that it sent him flying across the room.

The female turned to Kira and raised her gun, aiming it at her head before pulling the trigger. The bullet went straight towards her and she moved her head to the side just in time as it went past her and into the timber of the headboard, shards of wood flying everywhere.

Anger filled the female’s face as she realized she had missed. She didn’t have enough time to pull off another shot before Emmerich was upon her. He threw her across the room and she bounced off a wall, cracking it where she hit and landing on the ground next to a table. It seemed she wasn’t even dazed by the action for she instantly picked up a knife that was on the table and threw it at him. He turned his entire body, easily letting the knife glide past him. When he looked back the human was gone. He growled and went to the doorway, looking down the hall, but there was no sign of her.

Kira watched him as his chest heaved up and down, the look of fury evident upon his face. His clothes were ripped and covered in blood and gore, but it seemed none of it appeared to be his. He turned and looked at her.

“Are you okay?” Emmerich asked gruffly. He quickly made his way to her side, inspecting her body for any signs of injury.

“Do I look like I’m okay?” she asked incredulously. “The only way I will be okay is if you let me out of these damn chains. I nearly got ripped to pieces and shot because of you freaks. Let me the fuck out!”

She was angry and it didn’t surprise him. He would probably feel the exact same way if he was in her position. But it didn’t mean he would unchain her, he wasn’t going to take the risk that she would flee if he did. “I will be back shortly.” He headed towards the door.

“What do you mean you’ll be back shortly? Unlock these fucking chains,” she yelled at him.

“I must go help my people. If you haven’t heard, there is an invasion in progress.” With a flash he was gone and the door closed behind him.

He could hear her screams as he headed away from the bedroom and towards the fight again.

The moment he found out that someone was trying to kill Kira he had seen red. He reasoned that the cause of feeling that way was because he wouldn’t find out for Raidan anything more about who she was or how she had these abilities. That was the only reason he didn’t want her killed, he said to himself unconvincingly.

He was also livid that the other human had gotten away, the one that displayed the same abilities as Kira and was working for his enemies.

Where the hell had this other human come from? And why did she want Kira dead?

This attack on her increased his rage towards the ones who had invaded his home, and the more his rage increased, the more he wanted to punish them. Make them regret ever thinking they could defy or defeat the Vanatre. He reinforced this line of thought as he drove his hand hard through the chest of a newly-turned nostvore, holding the nostvore’s heart in his hand and tossing it over his shoulder. Yes. They would all pay.
