BOOK REVIEW by Michelle : 

The setting for this book is Alaska. Emma is trying to flee an abusive step father and sneak out in the middle of the night for her journey to California. 

She doesn’t make it. 

A bull moose , an iced over highway, an accident waiting to happen. 

And it does. 

The start of this book is quite frightening. Emma finds herself kidnapped, falling nicely into the hands of a killer. 

The chapter POV’s alternate between Emma and Tok . Both in their own way are being held captive by Weasel Tail. 

Throw in Uncle Jock, who I really liked and Ben and you have a story of survival and rescue. 

I liked the whole idea of the evil ice aged Sharman and how he captured his victims and what he did to them. 

Tok aka Amarok is a seventeen year old from the gold rush era. He is more wolf than man. I really enjoyed being in Amarok’s head and learning of his pain. 

Emma is fighting for her life and she doesn’t waiver in helping even though she doesn’t fully understand, but knows she is Amarok’s only hope. 

This is the story of a girl who went from fleeing an abusive step father to finding herself captured by an evil mountain man and saving more than her own life. 

Two characters who are trying for a way out, an escape from a life they have been forced to endure find themselves and a hope that wasn’t there before. 

I enjoyed the whole concept of this story, but I would have liked to have learned more and possibly built a stronger connection with these two lead characters. The start of this book was very exciting in a frightening way and it really grabbed you.
