EDEN'S HELL, I: The First
EDEN'S HELL, I: The First
Addison entered the bedroom, but stopped to listen to the lulling rhythm of Eva’s heartbeat. Its cadence flowed like a rush of warm water cascading over his body. Usually fatigued by the arrival of dawn, this night ended on a rush of energy.
Something about this female intrigued him. Hell, she’d sent all his common sense right out the window. He felt like a beached Corbina thrashing in the sand. There was something about her, perhaps a familiarity that unfortunately centuries of time and loneliness had erased from his memory.
His languid sigh echoed in the quiet of the bedroom as he moved to the platform bed. He waved a hand and the mattress and metal dais soundlessly slid to one side. He’d personally built the secret passage after the house had been constructed. No one knew of its existence, not even Satrina. Down there, he was truly safe—his sanctuary, and prison.
He descended the crudely cut steps of lichen-covered rock into bleak darkness where night creatures like him belonged. Halfway down, he stopped. His essence searched. Satisfied Eva remained safe, he continued into complete darkness.
Hewn walls glittered with damp rock, soil, and sand. At the snap of his fingers, a freestanding torch burst into flame. Shadows danced across the chamber walls. Although this was California, the chill of a place hidden forever from the sun seeped into his preternatural flesh, a blanket of ice that was forever his companion. His heartbeat slowed and he waited for the inevitable—its eventual stopping, as it always did until he fed again.
Loneliness tortured him here, but tonight it ripped through him like dull knives. This cloistered hole in the ground was the one place he could never escape from, and every dawn he returned, a perpetual reminder of what he was.
He closed his eyes, and the gentle caress of Eva’s essence rolled through him, making him despise the creature he was even more. Penance was penance, however, and the curse…all part and parcel. But with Eva here, he didn’t feel so alone anymore. He hadn’t realized how forlorn he’d become. It made the decision all that more right.
Satrina will never have her.
With laden limbs, he stripped off his clothes and lay upon the icy stone slab he called a bed. The torch sputtered as he extinguished it with a twist of his mind, and true darkness encompassed the chamber.

BOOK BLURB:
In the beginning…
God created man and called him Adam, a fine specimen replicated in his own image. He then created woman to ease Adam’s loneliness and named her Lillith. Unfortunately, God realized his mistake too late in giving woman free will, for she would rule her domain—not man.
When Lillith left Adam, God created another for his first-born son and gave her the name Eve and a kingdom called Eden, but by then it was too late, for he’d unleashed Hell into the world of man.

DARK DIARY, II: The First
He waited, crouched behind a corner several blocks down from her domicile. He’d lingered and watched her so often that his feet had worn a groove in the cement. His eyes narrowed as Daniella disappeared into the night to hunt, but this time for vengeance. He grinned and shivered with morbid delight. Memories of past vindictive feedings brought a rush of blood that centralized between his legs. He’d never known a vampire like Daniella Rolfe. And never had he seen such a formidable, dominating creature when tracking game. No other held more beauty, or terror.
Slinking from his hiding place, he shrouded himself within a spell of deep shadows and followed, careful to keep his distance. She had uncanny territorial radar, a power he’d envied from the first moment he’d sensed it. As he tracked Daniella, he licked his lips to stop from drooling. It had been a long time since he’d seen this magnificent creature strike down prey.

KINDRED BLOOD, III: The First
As Teanna walked past the observation room, Kon grabbed her arm and threw her inside. She flinched as her naked body slammed against the monitor, almost knocking the machine off the ledge.
“What in damnation was that all about? You were supposed to woo him, not rape him!” He swung and backhanded her across the face, the resounding slap screaming between them.
She wiped her palm across the cut on her lip. “That’s my way of wooing, Kon. If you don’t like it, too fucking bad! I tasted his blood. It’s useless. He hadn’t had a full feeding, which means Daniella’s blood hasn’t fused with his.”
Kon shook with rage. There was no taming this bitch. “You selfish, greedy wench. And whose fault was that?”
“We needed to secure him, and we did,” she retaliated hotly. “Wasn’t that part of your plan? Get Daniella out of the way and nab the detective? Now you expect me to woo and earn his trust after I tortured him? Jesus Christ, Kon! We need Daniella, not her pet! Now here’s what I propose we do. We’re going to stretch out the detective’s feedings. I will become his teat, and he the baby. When he sees me, he’ll know I’m that breast of mother’s blood; after that, I’ll just be a luscious tit to him. I’ll keep him fed, both nutritionally and sexually.”
Kon calmed with difficulty. This vamp’s stupidity knew no bounds, but on this, she was right, and he despised her all the more. “Daniella feeds every thirty days or she becomes rabid, like he is now. I knew you were a slut, Teanna, but...” He shook his head in disgust.
She drew herself to full height and loomed over him. “You still don’t get it, do you? Her blood hasn’t had a chance to fuse with his system. Once his plasma is completely replaced, it’s her blood that will complete the process from vampire to The First. We need Daniella! Get her here, and I’ll ensure Damien’s plan works. You may be head honcho, but I’m the one doing all the dirty work, so we’re doing it my way. Understand?”
“That is the plan,” he said icily.
She leaned close. “And if you ever, ever strike me again, I—will—kill—you. Plan or no fucking plan.” She turned and stomped out.
He went back to the monitor and carefully watched Aiden. Damien hadn’t heeded the risks involved with the serum. It had suppressed the thirst, yes, but all the test vamps eventually became immune to it—then the rage and madness followed. He’d tried to warn Damien. With this new test subject, perhaps there was a way of refining it.
