BOOK REVIEW: 5 Stars for THE IRON KNIGHT by JULIE KAGAWA

Title:   THE IRON NIGHT (The Iron Fey Series Book 4)
Author:   JULIE KAGAWA
Publisher:  Harlequin Teen
Pages:  386 (ebook)
Acquired:  Ebook from NetGalley

RATING:   5 out of 5 "MELTING ASH MOMENTS" STARS !!!

Description from Goodreads:
Ash, former prince of the Winter Court, gave up everything. His title, his home, even his vow of loyalty. All for a girl… and all for nothing.

Unless he can earn a soul.

To cold, emotionless faery prince Ash, love was a weakness for mortals and fools. His own love had died a horrible death, killing any gentler feelings the Winter prince might have had. Or so he thought.

Then Meghan Chase—a half human, half fey slip of a girl— smashed through his barricades, binding him to her irrevocably with his oath to be her knight. And when all of Faery nearly fell to the Iron fey, she severed their bond to save his life. Meghan is now the Iron Queen, ruler of a realm where no Winter or Summer fey can survive.

With the (unwelcome) company of his archrival, Summer Court prankster Puck, and the infuriating cait sith Grimalkin, Ash begins a journey he is bound to see through to its end— a quest to find a way to honor his solemn vow to stand by Meghan’s side.

To survive in the Iron realm, Ash must have a soul and a mortal body. But the tests he must face to earn these things are impossible. At least, no one has ever passed to tell the tale.

And then Ash learns something that changes everything. A truth that turns reality upside down, challenges his darkest beliefs and shows him that, sometimes, it takes more than courage to make the ultimate sacrifice.

Review:
Well Julie Kagawa.....THANK YOU!  Not only have you written yet another awesome book for The Iron Fey series, given me more Prince Ash than I could know what to do with......but you've also left me WANTING MORE - AND NOW!!!! AAARRGGGHHH!!!

Julie's theory of Faery existence fading away when forgotten weaves throughout the series - but is certainly prominent within The Iron Knight. It brings together an eclectic mix of characters to aid Prince Ash on his endeavor to earn a soul and return to the Iron Realm to be with his true love - Meghan Chase, Iron Queen.  With the inclusion of The Big Bad Wolf - and he is bad - Julie's theory is really brought to light.

The banter between Ash and Puck is at an all time high! As we read The Iron Knight from Ash's perspective we can feel the inner turmoil that Ash wrestles with constantly.....will he continue to despise Puck and finally fulfil his "promise" to avenge Ariela's death....or will circumstances present him with a new option?  Will he earn his soul or die trying? Will Puck mellow out and stop being a prankster? (AS IF!!)  And what of Meghan? How has ruling the Iron Realm changed her?

I could hint at so much more - but I don't write spoilers!!! You'll just have to read the book (it's so worth it)! Seriously - I want to discuss so much more but it will give so much away.

In true Julie Kagawa style, imagery is abundant and overflowing.....my mind was tantalised over and over visualising such an epic adventure.  It never rested for a moment and I enjoyed every twist, turn and End of The World moment I was presented with.

ENJOY!
MARISSA

  1. Keep in mind that this story is the conclusion to the series, so you will definitely learn what happened in previous books. If you'd rather know absolutely nothing going in, I recommend you start with the first book, The Iron King. Else, dive right in and enjoy this masterpiece of a story. then come back and read the first three when you just MUST HAVE MORE!!
