Six months have passed since the terrifying battle with Charlie Pink-eye and the Motor City Hammer in the zombie-infested mountains of the Rot & Ruin. It’s also six months since Benny Imura and Nix Riley saw something in the air that changed their lives. Now, after months of rigorous training with Benny’s zombie-hunter brother Tom, Benny and Nix are ready to leave their home forever and search for a better future. Lilah the Lost Girl and Benny’s best friend Lou Chong are going with them.
Sounds easy. Sounds wonderful. Except that everything that can go wrong does. Before they can even leave there is a shocking zombie attack in town. But as soon as they step into the Rot & Ruin they are pursued by the living dead, wild animals, insane murderers and the horrors of Gameland –where teenagers are forced to fight for their lives in the zombie pits. Worst of all…could the evil Charlie Pink-eye still be alive?
I loved ‘Rot and Ruin’.... but ‘Dust and Decay’....... oh Jonathan, the emotions. Jonathan you are killing me at the moment. My heart is shredded..... well done!
‘Benny Imura’ is a zombie series that is not what you think, I highly recommend this series. I have not budged all day, I still haven’t showered....yes, bad, I know, but this book just kept my ass planted on the computer chair, all day. I will be trying to get my hands on a copy of ‘Rot and Ruin’ and ‘Dust and Decay’, they are keepers.
I don’t know where to begin, my heart has a gaping hole in it.
I loved the supporting characters that Jonathan brought to this book. Zombie cards have come to life, J-Dog, Dr. Skillz, Solomon Jones, Sally Two-Knives, Hector Mexico, Basher, Fluffy McTeague to name some.
I am head over for J-Dog and Dr. Skillz, they are the two most awesome dudes, well written, hilarious, trustworthy, these dudes have got your back. I want more of these two as they just bring something to these books.
Jonathan has written some powerful scenes in this book, they will bring a tear or two, make you laugh, make you want to fight, they will make you ‘feel’ Benny, Tom, Lilah, Nix, Chong and Morgie’s pain. All the characters are going through something, emotionally. Quite powerful stuff, they have a combined strength that will pull you in. These friendships grow into something incredibly solid.
The Greenman made me feel that there was hope for a peaceful existence amongst all the menace and terror that White Bear and his minions are throwing around and what the planet has turned into. He has learnt how to coexist. He is another one I dub , ‘Obi Wan Kanobi’.
There was a scene with Tom.... all I am going to say is ‘Bang’....it was very cool, I saw it up on the big screen , it was kind of smexi. There is an amazing action scene that had me bouncing up and down with energy. This book grows into a fast paced page turner that will have you wanting more.
These books need to be brought to the big screen as they bring something so refreshing and powerful to the zombie genre. There are the dangers of the zombie bites, but it’s the evil humans using and abusing their strength that is the butt of these books. Jonathan exposes the truer evil ....... Gameland is one horrifying place.

FAVE QUOTES:
“That’s got to be Nix,” he said as he pulled it open. “Hey , sweetie...”
Morgie Mitchell and Lou Chong stood on the back porch.
“Um ,” said Chong, “ hello to you , too, sugar lumps.”
“Expect to be murdered,” Benny threatened. “Painfully and soon.”
“Yes Snookums,” said Morgie as he followed Chong into the kitchen.
“Then you may be the cavalry,” said Tom, “ but I’m Santa Claus. Let’s go downstairs and open some presents.”
“Far out,” said Dr. Skillz. “Benjamin Imura and Phoenix Riley. Wassssabi?”
Dr. Skillz nodded. “ Seriously , brah, and Jessie’s daughter’s gone all alliham.”
“Babelini!” agreed J- Dog, though he was smiling, not leering, when he said it. The surfers gave Benny the thumbs-up. “ Good call, dude.”
“Huh?” asked Benny.
Dr. Skillz nodded. “Where’s the big Kahuna? And...besides that what are you Menehunes doing out here?”
“Dudette’s no Barbie, brah,” said J-Dog, and his partner nodded.
“I know, right? Kahuna was on when he said little cat’s hyper-fierce gnar gnar.”
“Dog,” said Dr. Skillz adjusting his shades, “ these land-sharks are seriously truckin.”
“Chyeah,” snorted J- Dog.” What’s that all about?”
There were eight zoms left.
“Dude – four on the left, “ said J-Dog. “Go agg.”
Dr. Skillz grinned. “Always aggro.”
