Maggie is a seventeen year old girl who's had a bad year. Her mom left, her dad is depressed, she's graduating, barely, and her boyfriend of almost three years dumped her for a college football scholarship. Lately she thinks life is all about hanging on by a thread and is gripping tight with everything she has.

Then she meets Caleb.

She saves his life and instantly knows there's something about him that's intriguing but she is supposed to be on her way to a date with his cousin. But things change when they touch, sparks ignite. Literally. They imprint with each other and she sees their future life together flash before her eyes. She learns that not only is she his soul mate, and can feel his heartbeat in her chest, but there is a whole other world of people with gifts and abilities that she never knew existed. She herself is experiencing supernatural changes unlike anything she's ever felt before and she needs the touch of his skin to survive. Now, not only has her dad come out of his depression to be a father again, and a pain as well, but Caleb's enemies know he's imprinted and are after Maggie to stop them both from gaining their abilities and take her from him. Can Caleb save her or will they be forced to live without each other after just finding one another?

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

I’ve been wanting to read this book for ages. I have the first 4 on my Kindle but life just keeps chugging on by and before you know it a series is up to book 5 with book 6 releasing in 2015 and a movie.

*glove clap* Congratulations Shelly Crane!

Ok, so time to part the sea of books and make it happen.

So I did.

This book has soooo many ratings on Goodreads. The whole series does.

I really enjoyed this first instalment.

Nineteen yr old Caleb is the sweetest, most caring character.

He just gushes dream boat boyfriend.

Here is Justin who plays Caleb in the movie. YUMMO!!!

I am an older reader so I felt this was more for the 13,14,15,16 year age bracket in this YA read because Caleb is such a sweet character. He is written very much the good guy.

I will say the first 2/3rds of the book were quite slow, not a great deal happens, but from a younger person reading it they will probably be quite satisfied. Shelly is letting us get used to her world and that of the Virtuoso, or Aces as they are called. The first two thirds were more talking, Caleb and Maggie loving on each other and being all sweet and cute and caring, just real nice stuff with the odd bit of inept kidnapping.

He laughed again and shook his head. “You are the funniest person I’ve ever met.”

“And you’re the sweetest.”

“I’m not that sweet,” he insisted.

“You’re honey bun sweet,” I said with an accent as sweet as syrup.

“Oooh.” He raised his eyebrows in mock seriousness. “That’s like the ultimate compliment.”

“Are you ok now? Really?” he asked sincerely.

“Of course,” I insisted. “I think you could cure just about anything.”

He chuckled bashfully which was so freaking cute.

From then on things really started happening, I visually saw everything Maggie was going through and it was like a movie playing in my head. Go figure. J ( She has the movie coming out in 2015) .

Kyle is a character that felt a little forced to me, because we don’t get to see him trying to ask Maggie out all those times, he just is a bit irritating with his constant petty comments and actions, knowing Caleb and Maggie are imprinted and that stuff can’t be changed. I was like, dude let it go, move on.

I really like Bish. He is a great older brother and there is so much more to learn there with his character. He is in this book only a teeny bit but I like him already.

I think Vic, Caleb’s bestie is gonna be fun too.

Once Kyle gets over his behaviour I think I am gonna like him a lot more too.

Becky, the bestie, and her way with words. Bahaha.

“So he hasn’t tried to play shifty fingers with you yet? Or, ‘oops my hand slipped onto your boob’ or ‘I have no idea why my hand is there, it just had a mind of its own but since it’s there, let’s have a go’?”

Oh and then Caleb pulls out this sweet mind mojo with Maggie.

He tapped his finger over my heart as he’d done once before and it did make me calm down and more than it had before. To make you happy, to do anything and everything with you, to date you, spoil you, love you...marry you. I want to mutualize with you. I want to live with you. I want to marry you and have kids with you. But not today. Not right this second. We have all the time in the world, Maggie. I told you in the very beginning that I’ll let you set the pace and that still stands. I’m ready for anything, whenever you are but I’m not pushing you, ok? I’ve waited this long for you and I’m happy. He kissed my stunned lips softly as I fought to keep my composure and breaths even. I’m happy, just like this, for now.

I think the whole police thing in this book was a bit blase'. I think it would have been better not mentioning the police involvement or pulling out a bit of mind mojo on them.

We all piled in the cars and they went straight to the police station. I gave my brief statement as Peter explained that we were needing to catch a flight. They were perplexed as to how Caleb had found me but Peter could be very persuasive and smooth talking. We were out of there in ten minutes.

Hehehe. When you read the area this is about it kind of made me chuckle a bit...considering.

Speaking of imprinting, I did get a Twilight series vibe from this first installment in several areas. Not that there is anything wrong with that. I might be the only one who felt this. Eh, doesn’t matter, I loved Twilight.

I loved some of the songs mentioned in this book. Relator by Pete Yorn and Scarlett Johansson, I have not heard of this song. I totally dig it.

I am really looking forward to picking up Accordance next and I would definitely recommend to my nearly thirteen year old to read this book.
