MARISSA'S RATING
Above all else,
though I try not to think about it, I know which life I prefer. And
every night when I Cinderella myself from one life to the next a very
small, but definite, piece of me dies. The hardest part is that nothing
about my situation has ever changed. There is no loophole.
Until now, that is...
For as long as she can remember, Sabine has lived two lives. Every 24 hours she Shifts to her ′other′ life - a life where she is exactly the same, but absolutely everything else is different: different family, different friends, different social expectations. In one life she has a sister, in the other she does not. In one life she′s a straight-A student with the perfect boyfriend, in the other she′s considered a reckless delinquent. Nothing about her situation has ever changed, until the day when she discovers a glitch: the arm she breaks in one life is perfectly fine in the other.
With this new knowledge, Sabine begins a series of increasingly risky experiments which bring her dangerously close to the life she′s always wanted... But just what - and who - is she really risking?

MARISSA'S REVIEW:
As the title image above indicates - BETWEEN THE LIVES has acquired my MUST READ stamp!!
Jessica Shirvington blew me out of the water with this amazing and unique story of Sabine and her "Same, Same But Different" lives.
Sabine has literally two lives - she lives one, then at midnight morphs into the other.....and so on it goes every 24 hours. There is no change in time - each life takes off from where she last left it. And each life is so vastly different from the other.....the only thing remaining the same is Sabine's physicality, mind & memories....or so she thought.
The characters in each life, not just Sabine, are well created and together they engulf you in this amazing story of a back and forth life.
Sabine's Roxbury life is one of relative normalcy - hard working parents who don't quite understand her and a younger sister (Maddie) who worships her, whilst her Wellesley life is one of privilege with older brothers and a hot boyfriend called Dex.
Both lives seem alright to an outsider.....but as we delve in deeper things are never as they seem and as a reader we are dragged through an emotional spiral with Sabine, especially once she meets Ethan (Roxbury).
It has been a long time since I read a book and was so emotionally and mentally invested in it's story.
Do you need tissues? YES
Will you need to devote uninterrupted time to read this? YES (or those around might find you agitated that you have to put it down!!)
p.s. For those that have watched Stephen King's The Mist.....the ending - think back to how utterly emotionally effected that made you (well it did me and hubby!). Now get ready for that feeling when you read Between The Lives - obviously for different reasons....no aliens in this book!!
