BOOK BLITZ - JOY IS FOUND by EMMA JAMES - MEN OF OCEAN BEACH # 3 - ADULT CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE

JOY IS FOUND

MEN OF OCEAN BEACH # 3

BY EMMA JAMES

ADULT CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE SERIES

Some people feel the rain. Others just get wet.
~ Bob Marley

Levi Donovan is best friend and wingman to Keanu Lee. He is also his business partner in Limbitless Tees. (There is a pun in there, folks.) Well, he was wingman, but now Keanu has Hope in more ways than one.

Things are changing for this sexy brotherhood … for the better.

Retro has the love of his life, which has turned him into an overprotective caveman. Keanu is a goner. Text is trying his best not to screw things up with his complicated relationship with Faith—it’s a work in progress. Harley’s ‘spidey’ senses are working overtime. And ... Slade has gone MIA, not that Phoenix cares. Not much, anyway.

Damn Behemoth of a man.

Now the crew and the ever-expanding sisterhood are off to spend Thanksgiving in Cedar Hill, Texas with the people they love. Of course, what should have been a relaxing break away from OB turns into more than Levi bargained for.

When the girl he used to trip in elementary school with the mile-long legs and the ice blue hair crosses his path ... Let’s just say Levi is going to put his best foot forward, much to the amusement of the “inner circle.”

For once, Faith isn’t the one behind all the shenanigans; she has handed that baton over. Now she’s into matchmaking.

Oh, and of course there is that ever-pressing question:

Who is Hudson Raine?

*Reader Note*

This novel contains sexual content for the mature 18+ reader.

SLADE EXCERPT

“Jesus. Phoenix, wake up, babe.”

Motherfucker!

Her limp body is a dead giveaway she blacked out on me, but I’ve already deployed the parachute at five thousand feet. I need her awake, or this could end badly.

I try rousing her with words, and when that isn’t working, I decide it’s time for a slap to the face.

The strike of my hand against her in the cheek doesn’t rouse her.

Motherfucker!

Now I’m worried she’s hurt.

I slap her harder this time, a short, hard slap that l know will leave a red mark on her face, but I need to wake her before we hit that hard, leg-breaking ground.

“Ouuch…” A very cranky Firebird responds to the sting on her face, slowly shaking her head.

“Look up for me, woman, and keep looking dead ahead. You blacked out on me.”

“What?”

“Why didn’t you tell me you were scared shitless about doing this jump?” I shout angrily at her. I’m fucking pissed off she did this jump when she knew she wasn’t capable of enjoying it. I’m not feeling very understanding because she scared the motherfucking life out of me, though that’s something I’m not about to admit to, and she was a danger to herself.

“Firebird, I need your full attention. When I tell you, I need you to raise your legs. Do you understand me?”

“Yes. Slade, did you slap my face?”

“Focus! Damn it, woman! I need you to remember what I told you about the landing procedure. Do you remember?”

“Yes. Legs straight out.” She sounds more with me now.

“Good girl. Firebird, I need you to do that for me now.”

Thank God she raises her legs in the correct way as we glide closer to the ground and skim the grass, coming to a stop in the field of the diving school.

“What did I miss?” Phoenix’s voice sounds like she’s still a little ways away and needs to lie down for a minute.

Once I undo my harnesses and signal to Retro with a loud whistle, he comes over at a jog.

“Retro, she passed out.” I sound like a fucking grumpy bear, but I can’t help it.

“What the hell, Slade?”

He better not be pointing a finger at me.

“It’s not his fault. I don’t handle heights well,” she mumbles guiltily.

“What the hell, Phoenix!” Retro and I shout at the same time.

“He slapped me.”

She has this pouty face that makes me want to laugh because Phoenix is not a pouty-face kind of chick, and it looks ridiculous on her, but I’m still pissed off at her. Nice try, darlin’.

“Good come back, Firebird,” I retort. “It was that or possible broken legs or worse.” I scoop her up and stalk back to the others with Retro sticking right beside me.

“Put me down!” she hollers.

“No. This is your punishment, so suck it up.”

I’m not putting her down until I say so, even if it sounds like she’ll be fine since that sass of hers is back. She can just deal with it. I need to be angry with her, or I’m going to go all caveman on her ass and take her away from here and lock her up in my bedroom until I think I have sexed enough sense into her.

Motherfucker! She sure knows how to give a guy a fucking heart attack.
