How do you live with yourself when you’ve deceived the one you love?

How do you move on when the person you’ve been fighting to save betrays you?

Two years ago, Maggie Stevens began the hunt.

Four weeks ago, Maggie’s world fell apart, when she finally
found what she’d been looking for. And when Quentin,
who had blindly trusted her, unravelled her web of lies.

Now, Maggie lives in the dark. But she’s not about to stay there.
Not when she still has to bring M-Corp down.
Not when there is still a chance she could win him back.

In the exhilarating conclusion to Disruption, Maggie must do
whatever it takes to show the world the truth.
And the price for her quest?

Everything.

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

I will always pick up a Jessica Shirvington book. I fell in love with The Violet Eden Chapters, each book for me got better and better and I loved Between The Lives, so I was naturally going to read Jessica’s latest works, the Disruption duology.

Disruption , book one I really enjoyed and I have just finished Corruption the conclusion to this YA dystopian duology.

Corruption takes off where Disruption left off, although it didn’t go in the direction I thought it would be going, what I mean to say is where Disruption left off, it was a surprise how quickly Maggie was back where she should be.

I enjoyed how evil the villains were in this YA read, nicely played, Jessica.

I could see where something was heading which hurt my heart and I was doing a bit of inner monologuing which went something like this, ‘NOoOooOOooo don’t do it!!!’

If I had a fave character it would have to be Gus the side kick. He is a character who has great lines and I fell a little more in love with him each time he popped up. There was a side to the plot where I was a little, huh, when it popped up but that is ok.

I think I connected with Quentin the most in the latter part of the story, for me personally I thought some of the relationship between Maggie and Quentin went a little flat for me in this second book.

I did like Travis. What can I say, he is untrustworthy but I wound up liking him and I really liked Liam. I felt like I could have spent more time with his character.

I think the believability of such few people trying to bring down such a massive organization was made more realistic by Maggie finding out she wasn’t alone in her plight. I liked what Jessica did there. It would have been nice to spend longer connecting with these characters.

Overall I thought this was an enjoyable dystopian duology, but for some reason I like my dystopians to be trilogys. Just a personal thing as I think time needs to be spent with characters and relationships and understanding the worlds and then the powerful conclusion to wrap everything up.

I really could have seen a third book. But eh, that’s just me.

I have read everything of Jessica’s to date and I would admit that The Violet Eden Chapters would be my fave series of hers.

  1. I ADORED Disruption but I'm yet to read this one. I missed out on a review copy and I've been too lazy to buy a copy yet. Disruption was actually the first book by Jessica Shirvington I've read although I do own the first three Violet Eden books.

I'm more a trilogy fan myself too but I really liked the Rebel books by Amy Tintera and the Breathe series by Sarah Crossan and obviously I look forward to reading Corruption.

    Great review Mich!

    1. Hey Rach, I missed out on a review copy too, so I headed off to my trusty library and BAM there it was. READ VIOLET EDEN!!! The first book I gave a low score for but they got better and better and better for me.

I have just realized I read Rebel and reviewed it but didn't post it on NOTR. OMG! What a banana. It is sitting in my word doc. I have yet to read the second Amy Tintera and The Second Breathe.

Oh dear , how did I miss putting up Rebel. You have jogged my memory with your comment. OOPS!! I thought I had read it, but I went to look for my review just now and couldn't find it. What a wally!!
