But he's digging in his claws…

Grant MacQuarrie and his clan have been managing Farraige Castle for three centuries. The last thing he wants is a meddling American heiress trying to change the way things have always been done. He's more than willing to fight the she-wolf every step of the way, using every tool at his disposal. And if that means taking the lass to bed, well...all the better.

Locked in a battle of wills, caught in an attraction they can't escape, Colleen and Grant must find a way to work together...or face losing it all.

Guest Post:

How A Modern Highland Wolf Woos His Lady by Terry Spear

Who says chivalry is dead? Well, okay, so Grant MacQuarrie from HERO OF A HIGHLAND WOLF can be a bit stubborn ... and rude when Colleen Playfair arrives at the castle that he manages. Nevermind that the castle actually belongs to her.

Inheriting a Scottish castle high on rugged cliffs overlooking the North Sea might have been appealing, if not for Grant MacQuarrie, the man managing it. Unfortunately, Colleen Playfair couldn’t just fire him. Not when he had taken the reins to care for the property, following in his father’s and grandfather’s footsteps. She planned to go easy on him, but as she drove from the airport in Edinburgh to meet up with him in the Highlands, she dreaded the confrontation.

Just from the brief talk she’d had with Grant over the phone—in which he had grunted more than he’d spoken—she assumed the terms of her inheritance had pissed him off royally. Colleen tried to see it from his viewpoint: having the absentee landowner pop in to tell him what to do when he had been there day in and day out. And she was a woman and American.

So far so good, right? Nothing like feeling unwelcome at your new home. And to top it off, Grant has decided to put on a 'show' for Colleen in hopes of running her off.

Grant has a few tricks up his sleeve, if he was wearing a sleeve, but nope, he's wearing naught else but his very sexy kilt, boots, and he's armed with a sword. Greased up body, kilt a flying in the wind as he and his kin spar with Ian MacNeill and his kin in a lovely display of hot Highland hunkiness, with the intent of scaring Colleen away.

Let's face it, if Grant thinks the way to get rid of ladies is to grease up and take off his shirt, he is more than a bit misguided. But Colleen is forewarned that the brawny Highlanders will be engaging in mock battle and she shows up prepared—with her video camera to tape the whole scene.

But you are probably wondering where the actual wooing comes in. Let's just say that this Highlander has a few secrets to help him out—including the fact that he is an alpha wolf shifter. His wolf nature makes it so that his senses are heightened. He can see more, hear more, smell more. You know, like the tale of the big bad wolf. So Colleen's not able to get away with a whole lot without him sensing her emotions that humans might miss.

Grant woos his lady with the attention he pays to her (even if it means crashing a ladies-only party). Making sure she is protected (and running off her other suitors in the process). Leaving room for her to sit at the local pub (right on his lap, thank you). As you can see, what we might think is proper etiquette for wooing a lady can be a wee bit different by a wolf's standards. But that's what makes it fun!
