BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

I was rather surprised how much this book kept evolving with characters and twists.

I really liked it!

I hadn’t read any blurbs or reviews so I wasn’t sure what I was going to be in for. I did obviously get that Black Dagger vibe in the early parts of the book with character names like Wraith, Roag, Shade, Skulk... might as well throw in a normal name like Luc. J

There’s that whole ‘MINE’ thing going on and ‘mate’, but I thought this book really brought some cool new things to the party.

I liked the whole demon theme, although there are vampires mixed into the story and weres. I liked watching the demons and that whole good vs evil that happens with even these creatures. Just like humans.

"That any of us can be less than evil?  Do you not see that sometimes, something goes wrong at conception, and some humans are born evil?  Or they turn evil?"

Eidolon is a doctor, but he is also a demon and he has a hospital called UG, Underworld General. Shade can by touch put patients at ease from pain and Wraith can play with your mind.

Things are hinted at with both Shade and Wraith’s characters for future use in further installments.

Just to tweak our intrigue button.

The first few chapters had me trying to get my story bearings but once I read more this was a really cool read.

Eidolon is a really nice, good demon. He has more of a sense of right than his brothers, Wraith and Shade, when it comes to humans.

Shade, on the other hand, seemed more laid-back, but she wasn't sure it was in a good way. More of an I can kill you and not care less sort of way.

Enter Tayla, a twenty four year old Guardian who works for the Aegis. She is your Buffy type character who enjoys marshmallows and oranges.

We watch Eidolon and Tayla go through the motions of demon vs demon slayer and the inevitable outcome of two opposites attracting.

“I wonder what disgusts you more, the fact that I’m a demon, or the fact that when I touch you, it doesn’t matter.”

The wolf and the rabbit. The predator and the prey.

Aegis hunt down and kill demons.

Eidolon, Wraith and Shade all have a different demon power. Wraith has had it pretty tough in his life and he has a lot of demons he is carrying about.

Pun not really intended.

Wraith stood at the ER entrance, arms crossed, shoulder braced against the sliding glass door. He'd pulled his blond hair back and tied it with a leather thong that matched his jacket, an Indiana Jones replica that suited him, given that his job at UG was to hunt down ancient relics and magical artifacts, often from hazardous locations.

I really like Gem's character.

Gem hooked a leg over the armrest of Eidolon's couch, making the slit in her short leather skirt open over a tattoo of a long stemmed rose on her thigh. Blood dripped from the thorns - Tayla counted three drops along the length of her leg, the last one half-covered by the top of her combat boot. It made her wonder if Gem had more tattoos, or more piercings besides the six in her ear, the one in her eyebrow, and the one in her tongue.

Seeds are dropped for further installments with various sub characters and quite a few twists kept popping up in this book.

I am a lover of twists.

There was only one thing I had pegged fairly early into the book and then that came with a twist.

This was a great read with an eventual Beauty and The Beast vibe coming about. All things were woven together into the story line and then some left for further reads to unveil.

I'm looking forward to reading more in this series.

And let’s not forget Mickey, the ferret

Pleasure is their ultimate weapon . . .

Runa Wagner never meant to fall in love with the sexy stranger who seemed to know her every deepest desire. But she couldn't resist the unbelievable passion that burned between them, a passion that died when she discovered his betrayal and found herself forever changed. Now, determined to make Shade pay for the transformation that haunts her, Runa searches for him, only to be taken prisoner by his darkest enemy.

A Seminus Demon with a love-curse that threatens him with eternal torment, Shade hoped he'd seen the last of Runa and her irresistible charm. But when he wakes up in a dank dungeon chained next to an enraged and mysteriously powerful Runa, he realizes that her effect on him is more dangerous than ever. As their captor casts a spell that bonds them as lifemates, Shade and Runa must fight for their lives and their hearts-or succumb to a madman's evil plans.

  1. Fun cover and I do like the sound of how the demons work in this one.

  2. I agree, these PNR books sometimes reminds me of BDB, Ward really dominated this genre where everything either pales in comparison or feels like her Caldwell vamps. I'm reading a demon book now, Eternal Mates 2 by Felicity Heaton. I'm enjoying it, I think demons are my new thing.
