After a stalker breaks into her home, internet entrepreneur Bee Langston decides Kelly Connolly is the only man who can help her—but seeking help from the former Marine isn’t easy, especially after she made a spectacular fool of herself trying to kiss the sinfully sexy bodyguard.

When Kelly spots Bee weaving her way through the Houston nightspot where he’s working security, all those feelings he’s desperately tried to deny for his best friend’s sister come flooding to the surface. He’ll do anything to keep her safe, even if means getting up close and personal with the one woman he simply can’t have.

Soon, Bee’s stalker isn’t his only problem. His gambling addict father is tangled in a mess of debts to two of Houston’s toughest loan sharks. With the family gym on the line, there’s only one way for Kelly to make everything right. He agrees to fight for the Albanian mob in an underground bare-knuckle fighting tournament.

But winning the tournament and saving his family’s legacy comes at a high price—one that just might cost Bee her life.

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

This is my first read of Roxie’s and I enjoyed it.

Bee is a software tech entrepreneur in her early twenties. She has crushed on Kelly for many years. Her brother Jeb and Kelly were Marines together.

Bee kissed Kelly, he pushed her away. She went on to make a piece of software, LookIT under her company JBJ Techworks, worth a lot of money.

Gazillions!!!

Disgruntled former employees and a stalker have Bee under Kelly’s protection with the company he now works for, Lone Star Group.

Kelly decides he now wants more from Bee. I found this part a bit too quick. I would have liked more written into the story line.

“Kelly.” She spoke breathlessly but didn’t fight him. “What are you doing?”

“I don’t know,” he admitted, “but it sure as hell feels right.”

Bee is a great character. I liked her down to earth attitude considering the gazillions she was worth and her very calm attitude about being worth so much. She wasn't out spending money like a young girl would normally, with a lot of funds at her disposal. She was buying a building. She wasn't online shopping buying an expensive car. In my mind sometimes I saw her as a lot younger than she was, with her attitude and clothing. Her voice sometimes felt quite young, yet when it came to the smexi, she was her age. It was just how I felt sometimes. I forgot she was worth a lot of money. Maybe because she was a down to earth type character.

I like Kelly. He is a protector. He can be stubborn.

I thought there were many opportunities to really get more action and suspense into the story, especially with the stalker. I did feel the stalker was too easy to figure out. I really thought there was room for more creepiness and suspense there.

We spend time with Kelly and his stubborn need to fight Sergei. A man mountain that simply does not lose a fight. I really like Sergei.

There were a lot of things happening in this book , considering its size. I like my reads fast paced, but I would have liked other area’s developed more.

The smexi was very smexi. The lads are all tough and handsome. The one thing that had me pulling a what-the-moment, was when the protectors all kinda turned on Bee in whiplash speed.

It felt wrong. It felt forced. They bailed on her.

WT!!

Jeb was a real surprise. To me , Bee showed her loyalty and ability to keep a secret and not hurt anyone, with her knowledge of Jeb. I can’t work out why ALL the protectors decided to turn on her. It didn’t match her personality. Considering who the protectors were.

I did enjoy this book. It is a quick read. I would have liked parts fleshed out more. Sometimes I felt like I should have already known things. Nikolai and Vivi were an example. Maybe I should have read the Her Russian Protector series, first? I felt like I should have known more about some of these Russians when I came into this book.

I’m onto ‘In Jack’s Arms’, now. A great start to this series which I really did enjoy.

RATING: 4 JACK & MATTIE STARS!!

Blurb: Goodreads

When pawn broker Abby Kirkwood discovers the evidence of a chilling drug cartel hit on one of the video cameras hocked in her store, she turns to the only man she can trust—Jack Connolly.

The smolderingly sexy former Marine runs a successful gym down the street and coaches her brother's special needs baseball team. He's the one man who is always there when she needs him. If anyone can protect her family, it's commanding, capable Jack.

The moment he learns someone is threatening Abby and her brother, Jack sees red. To save the woman he's secretly loved for years, he'll do whatever it takes, even if it means facing off with a Mexican drug cartel and making deals with the same Albanian mob outfit that tried to ruin his family.

He finally has sweet, feisty Abby right where she was always meant to be—writhing with pleasure in his bed and safely sheltered in his arms. The vicious cartel assassin hot on her heels has no idea what he's up against.

The Connolly brothers are standing strong together—and no one touches their family.

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

I enjoyed this installment in the Fighting Connolly’s as much as the first one, In Kelly’s Corner.

I am beginning to realize that I should have read, Her Russian Protector series first. I feel like I am missing some things that get mentioned.

It didn’t stop me enjoying this installment.

Jack is the oldest Connolly at thirty three years of age. I really like Jack and the way he behaves around Mattie, Abby’s younger brother who has Down Symdrome. Mattie is twenty years old. I really love Mattie’s character, he is a scene stealer.

I love the way Finn and Mattie interact, they are very much like brothers.

“I’ll bunk in here with you,” Finn said, falling down on the other side of Mattie. “But you better keep that snoring to a minimum.”

“I don’t snore!”

“Yes, you do.”

“No!”

“Yeah.”

The Albanian’s and the Russians, there is some action flying about with a video camera and its footage that everybody wants to get their hands on. The only thing is somebody has it, who doesn’t actually want it, or any knowledge of what is on it.

Threats abound, lives are put at risk and bullets are flying.

Besian is an exciting character. You feel he is dangerous, but he also presents to the reader a guy that is looking out for the ladies.

“I don’t care what people say. I think you’re a pretty nice guy, Besian.”

I was glad to see when I got to the end of this book that Besian and his crew will in fact be getting their own set of books. Debt Collection, Past Due and Paid In Full.

Nice one!

I like the sound of Ben too. He has me intrigued with his comments to Jack. Just something about him.

I thought this installment had some nice shootem’ up action in it and some reasonable easily resolved issues considering what was on the video.

Another good installment in the Fighting Connolly’s series.

Next up is In Finn's Heart. Due for release April 2014.
