BOOK REVIEW - RUN by TAHLIA NEWLAND - DIAMOND PEAK SERIES # .5 - PREQUEL NOVELLA

I'm doing a book review on Run, this is the prequel #.5 to Lethal Inheritance , Diamond Peak Series # 1 ( YA genre)  by Tahlia Newland. I have put the blurb and cover for Lethal Inheritance down below. This book is from Aria's pov, she is 17. The novella Run is a bit older audience, by a smidge, as it is from Nick's pov and he is a 22 yr old.

Forget vampires, these demons suck too.

Nick runs from the hidden realm of Diamond Peak to the ordinary world to try to forget his failed battle with Cogin, head of one of the demon clans. Will immersing himself in the distractions of our world exorcise the terrible memory, and will making a new life for himself away from the hidden realm free him from the attentions of the demons?

This urban fantasy short story is a prequel to 'Lethal Inheritance', the first book in the Diamond Peak Series

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

I really liked this prequel. I have not read Lethal Inheritance yet. I received my copy of Run via a giveaway at Pretty In Fiction from the lovely Jesse.

Nick is the older brother to Lynlee. He is running from his responsibility. Demons live in the human world, Emot's , Gimps, Rasa's, feeding on humans and their jealousy, desire, anger to name some.

Nick was born in the magical world. He knows it and he is running from it. I really liked Nick's voice in this little novella.

Walnut is his old guide. There is an invisible wall between realms and Nick is running to the beach, away from his responsibilities.

There he sees a gorgeous auburn haired girl. He just needs a swim, to body surf, to do normal things. A night club is next where Nick does other errrrr, normal things.

I really got taken in by Run and I got to read a chapter of Lethal Inheritance from Aria's pov and I was really liking what I was reading. Apparently Nick makes an appearance chapter 6.

I liked the small 17 page prequel, I am very intrigued to know more, add that to the teaser chapter at the end of the prequel, and this sounds a great start to the Diamond Peak Series, aimed at the YA audience and older.

If last night was real, Ariel should be dead. She’s not, but her mother has disappeared, there are bruises on her neck and the hideous beast in the photo looks frighteningly familiar.

You can’t send police into a tunnel that doesn’t exist after a villain they can’t see, so when shadow demons kidnap her mother, Ariel has to mount the rescue mission herself. Hot on the trail, she enters a hidden layer of reality only to find that the demons are hunting her, and they feed on fear. Ariel must defeat them before they kill her and enslave her mother. But how do you kill terrifying demons when your fear makes them stronger?

A quirky old guide teaches her how to locate and unleash her inner power, and while battling hallucinogenic mist, treacherous terrain, murderous earth spirits and self-doubt, she falls in love with Nick, a Warrior whose power is more than either of them can handle.

Ariel’s journey challenges her perception, tests her awareness and takes her deep into her heart and mind to confront, and ultimately transcend, her fear and anger.
