BOOK REVIEW by Michelle :

I thought this was a good start to this series. I have not read any Paladin Warrior fiction, so this is my first foray into them. I enjoyed Tes not loading me up on lots of detail about the mythology.

Like all good and evil, there is always a betrayal amongst the good ranks which gives a story some meat on its bones.

Ganelon would be that betrayal meat. Ganelon is a Paladin who fathers Merkers with demon mothers, his little army of minions to reek havoc and give the Paladin Warriors some clean up duty.

Paladin = Once Angels, God gifted them to protect HIS children, fight Evil on earth = demons and Ganelon, amongst other evils, pulling a power play.

God is a bit absent in keeping his lot of Paladin’s in line , so this leaves it up to a group of Elders who may or may not be making the right decisions. These lads needed a bit of order to their supposed order.

Karissa finds herself turning to Logan Calhoun in her hour of need and finding herself waking up in the bed of Roland a fallen Paladin who happens to also be a vampire. He has this wicked windowless apartment which is coded to his voice. Yes, that is right, none of this *clap clap* lights on, his voice opens shuts doors, puts lights on......so , um... very handy when you have a damsel in distress in your home.

Now I have nothing against Rolands, but I just did not see this guy as a Roland, small detail, Michelle.

Roland owes Logan big time for saving his ass. Christos = Vampire Leader turned Roland. Upon becoming a vampire , Logan was supposed to have knocked off his good buddy. He did not. If you are no longer a Paladin, even though you were turned against your wishes into a Vampire, you are no longer in the boys club. So off with his head! Logan brought Roland back from the brink of bad vampire behavior and Roland has been minding his own business and being a good vampire ever since.

Enter Karissa who turns his world upside down, exposing who he is. Now, she has her own set of problems being the only female Paladin left, which means the boy Paladin’s loins are wakey, wakey rise and shine.

Valin and Alexander are probably my fave Paladin’s in this book. Trust me Valin did not start off that way, but I felt like he was the funniest. He reminds me a bit of Ian in The Night Huntress series, he grows on you. I think I have worked Alexander out too.

I thought this was a good start. I will admit I didn’t connect with Roland and Karissa for a lot of the book. They did grow on me.

Due For Release - 1st December 2012
Valin was my biggest surprise, how he grew on me. Alexander is one of those characters I think you will just love. Big, loyal and reliable. I think Logan will grow on me in book 2, Deliver Me From Temptation.

The female sub character I LOVED, was Gabriella. Like Roland, a vampire, but a good one, enough to trust.

In this book I think I may have picked up on a future pairing with Valin..... time will tell.

Couple great twists in this book, which I enjoyed and I am wondering if a couple theories I have for future instalments will pan out?

I am on Team Valin at the moment. He gave me a run for my money in this instalment. He was full of surprisesJ

  1. I only have book 2 and since its PNR I think I can gt away with skipping the first one. Honestly I'm getting a bit bored with PNR lately so I'll probably read Deliver me at a later time.
