Ashlyn McVean doesn't believe in fairy tales. That is, until Ashlyn is thrown into the crosshairs of grudges her grandmother created long ago. After finding out she is one of two people able to cross between faerie realms, Ashlyn is faced with trying to understand her abilities, along with navigating a new relationship with her boyfriend, Liam. As if being on a centuries old hit list and dealing with crazed pixies isn't enough, her new abilities mean trouble for Liam. Knowing her new life puts everyone she loves in danger, Ashlyn must decide what's most important in her life between friends, family, love, and ultimately, realms...

Hi everyone , it's our turn on the blog tour. This is my review for Bridger .

BOOK REVIEW:

I enjoyed Megan Curd's tale of faeries and changelings. I liked the title of her book and the cover . The story has the unique 'Bridger', character, which I thought was very original.

I did smile when Jesse and Liam came on the scene as they are my two boys names. Just a bit of a random comment thrown in this review:D

This is a book about tragedy and discovery. I came across the changeling character first in Julie Kagawa's Iron Fey series and then in Amanda Hocking's Trylle series. I really like reading about changelings and the writer's take on them.

Ashlyn has a rocky start to her relationship with Memaw but family tragedy helps remedy that. I really liked Tess and Memaw. Both strong women.

Liam is a very likeable guy and I hope Reese sticks around in future books as he is quite a character. I loved his willingness not to give up . I felt he had a great easy going personality.

Antony is a crack up. When reading him I felt like he was a bit flamboyant. Maybe that's not the right word? I think I want more of him. Reuben, we are just getting to know him....oh and the recliners...ha!

I don't want to be the only noodle in a bowl of fruit salad but I did have difficulty with how quickly Liam and Ashlyn's relationship exploded. I had problems wrapping my head around Liam being the 'Protector', the deal being if Ashlyn gets hurt , he suffers the same . A couple times I felt that the writing didn't show this in enough detail or the pain of it. Liam is after all only human....something just didn't 'feel' right when reading each time Ashlyn got hurt and how it was written with Liam, if that makes sense?

I think sometimes I wanted the story to slow down a bit and take the time to show the reader more of Ashlyn's learning of her abilities. Sometimes I felt time jumped too quickly.

Again, I have seen some wonderful reviews of this book, maybe I am the only noodle in that delicious bowl of fruit salad who hasn't given it five stars. I did enjoy Megan's tale and look forward to finding out how it all ends up.

I read and gave my honest review.
