Book Blurb : Taken From Goodreads

The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi-pure-bloods-have godlike powers. Children of Hematoi and mortals-well, not so much. Half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures.Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway. There are several rules that students at the Covenant must follow. Alex has problems with them all, but especially rule #1:Relationships between pures and halfs are forbidden.Unfortunately, she's crushing hard on the totally hot pure-blood Aiden. But falling for Aiden isn't her biggest problem--staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is. If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: being turned into a daimon, and being hunted by Aiden. And that would kind of suck.

Jennifer L Armentrout has written a page turner worthy of a one sitting read. Clear your day. It’s literally impossible to put Half Blood down until totally devoured....and then you are licking your lips for more....

Jennifer has written something very special here, the first book in the Covenant series.

I stayed up all night reading , I was in one of those reading trances that out does sleep.

If you don’t put this on your must reads list, then you will be missing out. Jennifer writes with such clarity and the tension...oh my goodness, the story is sooo well written, the excitement does not let up for a minute.

There is ungodly pain, powerful emotion, danger, smack downs, verbal sparring matches, smexual tension you could light with a match, gorgeous boys ( which is always nice  ), a kick butt awesome female lead with an attitude towards her peers, loyal friends, action a plenty and an exciting pace that keeps those pages turning and turning....

I kept saying to myself is there something here that is annoying me....nope, is there some flaw in this story...nope, I just simply loved Half Blood. I liked the inside page showing the pronunciations of certain words as I can’t think of anything worst when reading a book where every time you get to a word or name you say it three different ways in your head and still don’t have it right.

Alexandria Andros , 17 years old , rebellious by nature, loyal to those she cares about and can take a smack down like the best of them, without complaining. She has this wonderful smart mouth with another character Lea. Alex’s character has some immaturity due to her rebellious nature, but at the same time she would throw herself down for you. I can see her growing into this awesome woman.

Aiden St. Delphi is this smoking hot character without trying to be one. 20 years old, he is so reserved, you feel his hesitation, his restraint, Aiden is the sensible brother. Underneath the surface I think Aiden is like molten lava, but his career choice of a Sentinel and having to raise Deacon due to tragedy in their family, keeps him guarded emotionally . Deacon is Aiden’s brother and has the rebel, bad boy, devil may care attitude, hmmm I think we will be seeing more from him.

Don’t worry , where there is lava, there is a volcano, there is an eruption . *fans oneself* .

The characters are believable and Aiden’s character doesn’t just fall all over Alex , I loved that!!! The smexual tension.....omg... loved it!!

The bff , Caleb Nicolo , tall and blonde is a wonderful character. He was there for Alex, a really solid character.

There are great supporting characters which I will not go into for fear of spoiling.

I loved that Jennifer was tough on Alex’s character. I like that in a book. Girls can kick butt and not complain. Alex was a rebel but I can kind of feel she will be changing in books to come, she is very loyal to those she cares about. I loved the dialogue between Alex and just want them to kiss , but will they?

There was one scene in this book when we first meet!! I saw it like it was on the big screen in front of me...he was just so badass.

I am making a prediction that Aiden St. Delphi is going to be giving Dimitri , from Vampire Academy, a run for his money , especially once the series really gets underway, and that’s saying something.

There is one character , I will not name, but I am watching you. I picked up on a couple comments in the book and you have a tendency to...... well I shall keep that to myself, because if I am right I don’t want to spoil.

Relationships between Pures and Half Bloods are forbidden, and well ,that kind of sucks for our two lead characters......

“You don’t have to. And besides, I don’t think I want you shopping for me. I’d end up looking like a stripper.”

“Caleb , you didn’t have to do all that. And you’re going to get busted over here.”

“Then let me in your room before I get caught. And don’t worry about the shopping. I got some hot chicks to try clothes on for me. Trust me, mutually beneficial day for me.”

“What happened to your face?”

“What happened to yours?” I retorted. “You look like a damn oompa loompa....”

“First off : no drinking or smoking.”

“Gee. That means I’ve got to kick the crack habit.”

Try to refrain? As if I had uncontrollable animalistic urges and jumped every half in sight? “I’m not a sex-crazed skank , lady.”

“Alex , you’re starting to worry me. Insult me .... or something.”

A weak smile stretched my lips. “ You’re a bigger freak than I could’ve ever possibly imagined.”

My fingers clenched around the towel. “If you ever say something that stupid again, I will smother you in your sleep.”

His golden brows rose. “Little Alex , are you suggesting that we sleep together?”

.......”What ? No! “

“Then how can you smother me in my sleep unless you were in bed with me?”

  1. "RATING : 5 AIDEN ST. DELPHI HOTTIE STARS!!!" HA!!! Love that rating!!! I was lucky enough to read this early too and I loved it!! I can not wait to read Pure. =)

  2. Half-Blood is one of my fave books for this half of 2011. It was awesome, Aiden is just wow!! and I have a feeling Seth is going to cause our hearts to flutter too.

  3. Alex, the main character, is strong and not afraid to stand up for herself. Her mother has died and she is trying to figure out how to survive. You find yourself cheering for her to become a Sentinel, despite the inequality between half and pure bloods. I also fell in love with the supporting character specifically Aiden St. Delphi (I have another book crush). Armentrout strikes the perfect balance of action and romance. She also leads us another leading man which I hope to see in her upcoming second book Pure, Seth who is an Apollyon. Her descriptions were amazing, and I even pictured the characters in my head, with the text. It was like I was in a different reality with her characters!

We love hearing from you, your comments mean a lot to us.
