REVIEW:

A big thank you to Shelley Workinger for sending a copy (signed thank you very much!!) of her novel Solid.  When I read the description on Goodreads I wasn't really sure what to make of the story (as you can read from the above description).....but I gave it shot and very glad that I did.

Clio Kaid is our leading gal in this story. She has found out that she was genetically modified before birth and heads off to an Army camp with about 100 other teens to try and unearth and develop their skills. She's not to sure what to make of everything and is convinced that she has no ability at all.

Jack is Clio's love interest. He is also one of the modified teenagers. There is something more to him that I hope to find out about in "Settling". His character is very likeable (as is Clio's).

All the characters that Shelley has introduced us to are great. Their relationships and interactions with each other seem very normal and quite in-tune with your everyday teenager - just with the added advantage of a few special abilities.  Nothing seems "forced" in the story though a little more depth could have been achieved. The romance with Jack and Clio is sweet.  Garrett's macho sports-mindedness is great to read and quite humorous.

I look forward to reading Settling (Solid #2) on it's release.

Thanks again Shelley - I really enjoyed reading Solid !

ENJOY!
MARISSA
