RATING:   5 Packtastic Stars!!

Description from Goodreads:

Adopted by the Alpha of a werewolf pack after a rogue wolf brutally killed her parents right before her eyes, fifteen-year-old Bryn knows only pack life, and the rigid social hierarchy that controls it. That doesn't mean that she's averse to breaking a rule or two.

But when her curiosity gets the better of her and she discovers Chase, a new teen locked in a cage in her guardian's basement, and witnesses him turn into a wolf before her eyes, the horrific memories of her parents' murders return. Bryn becomes obsessed with getting her questions answered, and Chase is the only one who can provide the information she needs.

But in her drive to find the truth, will Bryn push too far beyond the constraints of the pack, forcing her to leave behind her friends, her family, and the identity that she's shaped?

BOOK REVIEW:

My dear Twinny surprised me by sending this book across the continent for me to read.  And I thank her hugely for it.

Jennifer Lynn Barnes has written a truly wonderful story and gives us a solid grasp and feel for how a Wolf Pack interacts.  She has also allowed us an insight into the human to wolf to change - which so many authors fail to describe or simply gloss over. Jennifer has linked the reader with each and every character, in particular Bryn, Chase and Callum. You don't just read the story - you feel apart of it. You feel as if you are each character in turn.

Bryn (Bronwyn) certainly struggles with what life has dealt her. She is a survivor and draws her strength from knowing this.  Throughout the story Bryn is visibly growing as a teenager, but also as part of a Pack with which she will never truly belong. She knows there are answers to be found regarding the tragic loss of her family and when she encounters Chase, there will be answers to questions she never knew to ask.

Callum is the Alpha wolf of the Stone River Pack and the one who saved Bryn as a four year old from the clutches of the Rabid wolf who killed her parents.  Callum "marked" Bryn as his to protect her from other wolves. With being "marked" Bryn must abide by Pack Law - though she is only human. As protective as Callum is, there is a primal side to him that Bryn can never forget.  Callum has an air about him that you know is wolf, dangerous, powerful and yet nurturing towards Bryn.

Chase - (sigh)! The connection that forms with Chase and Bryn is utterly wonderful. They are certainly two beings that were meant to find each other. This you know from their first meeting. The mental connection is so well written you can feel either one them in your own mind. Their passion is simmering under the surface though Bryn does insist on keeping this in check.

The Rabid - I would love to enlighten you with my perception of this creature - but it would be a total spoiler alert!!! So you will just have to read it!

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed reading Raised By Wolves and look forward to the release of Trial By Fire due out in the Summer of 2011.  I most definitely recommend anyone who is pondering over purchasing this book to GO GET IT!

ENJOY!
