BOOK REVIEW:

I must start by saying the book blurb doesn't begin to show the reader what they are instore for. The words that came to mind when I finished this book were , deep love, passionate, pure, spiritual, emotional,  at times peaceful.

18 year old Nora Johnson lives with her foster parent Edna. She loves her like a mother. They have a beautiful bond. Very early into the book you realise Nora is special. Nora has a gift that reveals itself to the reader over chapters.

Gavin Frey is at first impression your gorgeous well muscled guy that has appeared on campus. The connection is instant between Nora and Gavin. Solid, no turning back. There was never going to be anybody else for either of them.

Elizabeth writes with an at first curious style. I was curious to understand what was happening with these characters as Elizabeth writes with a creativity that kinda blossoms before your eyes. Colour, sound, wind, light are used to explain Nora and her feelings. I don't think I have read a book written in this style before.

As the reader you grow with Nora and watch her bump into a guy on campus and watch her life change/explode in a whole new way/direction . One minute she is helping her friends move onto campus the next she is taking on the role of saviour and lover. Nora learns to become intune with so many swirling emotions and feelings and coming to grips with the sometimes painful emotions. Nora finds herself on quite an emotional and physical journey that brings with it a learned passion and spirituality, an understanding of 'intent' .

I loved Rena and Tark . Rena was like the sister Nora never had, so loyal . Although quieter characters, I saw the need for Elias and Elaine. I enjoyed Malachi's character , he felt like family for Nora, which was kinda comforting. Her mentor.

The Light Of Asteria takes you on a journey from campus to Edna's Mountain to Gavin's home to fleeing for their lives from the Dokkalfar .  Gavin has been promised to another and this brings with it, its own burdens for Nora and Gavin as their love is of the purest kind. Unwavering. There was never a  choice for either of them.

I don't think I have read a book quite like this before. You need to open your mind up to Elizabeth's descriptive dialogue used to make the reader 'feel' what her characters are feeling. It is rather different and quite magical , sometimes quite powerful.

FAVE QUOTES:

Suddenly, it felt like I hit a brick wall. Warm hands gripped my upper arms, keeping me from falling, and I realized I had run into a wall of a man. Trying to see through the tears, I shook my head as a gust of wind whipped the hair across my face. His broad shoulders didn’t seem as if they would fit through a doorframe. Our eyes locked; his grip tightened. I had never seen more strange or beautiful eyes. They were like faceted emeralds, brilliant and pure. The ache spilled over to tears. He was like everything else here—too good for me. His incredibly green eyes flashed. Unknown emotions swirled and screamed with a power that grew. The crown of my head became warm, cascading down my skull, heating the length of my spine.

Warm arms wrapped around my waist; my hands involuntarily found their way to his chest. His heart raced, and I marveled as my pulse caught its tempo, the two now beating as one. His breath became ragged. My lungs stung from lack of oxygen, and as I inhaled the energy in my chest exploded, flooding the campus in a tidal wave of light.

His hand slid down my midriff to rest on the other side. My body relaxed. Gently, I was aware of his glassy palm repeating its course, each time the pressure increased a bit. His emotions intensified, desire started to protest in its cage. A smile came to my face, and I laced my fingers through his in an effort to stop their journey. I heard his resigned sigh as he put an inch or two between us.

“You were magnificent,” he murmured; his lips found their way to my shoulder. He gently released my waist, turning me around. Tracing kisses to the back of my neck, he stopped only to concentrate his effort at the notch starting my spine. He explored every vertebra until he got to the tips of my shoulder blade. The combination of his soft lips and his warm breath caressing my back in such an intimate way sent wild energy surging through him; the sensation caused my pulse to pound and weakened the strength in my knees. My legs literally gave out, and he caught me.

Gavin kissed me with a passion that caused the webs to glow. Warm hands slid from my waist, thumbs circling my hipbones, causing me to plunge deeper in the sensation. I had no thought, only the feelings that he brought out in me, and they ran sure and strong through our energy. His emotions meshed with mine. My pulse kicked into high gear, as I felt his nose push aside the strap of my dress. His whisper soft kisses found his favorite spot on my shoulder, while his hand ran the length of my body to find the edge of my dress that had ridden up through the night. The feel of his palm sliding up to the back of my thigh sent a soft moan through me, as the pit of  my stomach warmed to an ache. He rolled me to his side; the strap made its way past my elbow.
