BLOG TOUR & GIVEAWAY - $25 AMAZON GIFT CARD - IT'S NOT OVER by A.L. ZAUN - REVIEW OF THE DO OVER - THE DO OVER # 1 - CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE

Technically you should be reading a review for It's Not Over, book # 2 in The Do Over series on my blog tour stop.

But!!

I am a bit of a spaz and didn't realize this was book # 2 in the series and I hadn't yet read # 1, The Do Over. I often sign up for blog tour's going in blind to the book until I read it.

I had left myself enough time to read It's Not Over, but one needs to read # 1 first. Silly me. Then I saw how thick # 1 was and I was like holy mac and cheese I am not going to get two of these puppies read by my tour stop.

Well, I now have read and loved The Do Over. So I shall be putting up my review for It's Not Over when I finish it in a couple days.

What I will say is I am rather excited to read it as I did really like The Do Over and all its characters.

So, instead of holding up my blog stop, I am going to be a little different and show you The Do Over review which could entice you to pick up this series.

I will put some teasers for It's not Over up down below and the giveaway so you can all enter before the tour finishes.

Life doesn’t look like it’s supposed to for Dani Ruiz, a hopeless romantic. After a painful and sudden break-up with Rick Marin, Dani hides away from reality, retreating to a world of fiction where she prefers book boyfriends over the hassles of a relationship.

Almost two years later, Dani’s friends are tired of watching her in a holding pattern, so they stage an intervention, forcing her back into the real world of dating.

Unexpectedly, Dani meets Liam Lucas, a down-to-earth firefighter. He might be the person to show her she’s still worth something. Dani’s hesitant to trust her heart with another man, but their instant and electric chemistry is something she can’t deny.

As Dani starts to believe that she’s found her real-life book boyfriend, Rick decides that he’ll go to any lengths to get her back. Seeing Rick as a changed man makes Dani question everything.

Can Dani trust her patched-up heart with Liam?
Or has Rick transformed into the man she’s always wanted?

Written from various points of views, The Do Over is a story of second chances and new beginnings.

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

I often think of songs when I am reading a book that just ooze a character/relationship.

Gloria Gaynor’s, I will survive just spoke volumes for Rick and Daniela.

Rick has dumped Dani .

She is shattered.

But she will survive.

Fast forward two years.

Enter Lieutenant Liam Lucas of the Miami-Dade Fire Dept Tech Team. He is gorgeous, funny and endearing. Dani and Liam hit it off almost straight away.

Re-enter Rick Marin. He wants what he let go. He wants Dani back in his life and he is prepared to do what it takes to get her back.

Enter Madison. She is prepared to teach Rick to put girls before his dick.

I really liked Madison’s ability to command Rick and teach him how to be a better man.

“You first.” Standing there with my arms crossed, I shot lethal daggers at her.

Without hesitation, she put on the cap. She looked like a fucking moron. I couldn’t keep a straight face as I tried to stifle my laughter. She handed me the other cap, and I put it on, joining the ranks of the moron-looking idiots that started circling us.

So, here I was, riding the elevator to go see her. Like a motherfucking-son-of-a-bitch idiot, I was following her orders. She better not have some asshole with her. As far as I was concerned, I’d graduated from the Madison Stuart School of Castrating Rick with an A+.

Rick actually really grew on me. I liked watching him evolve. Sure he was self centered and he stuffed up, but he was trying to behave and become a better man. In his mind he wanted Dani back and he was prepared to do whatever he needed to win her over.

He just didn’t care whose feelings he hurt along the way.

Bad Rick!

Dani and Liam are a cute couple. I thought they had no problems, Liam was just so easy to get along with. He loves Dani so much he is prepared to love what she loves.

Shaking my head in disbelief, I ordered a Kindle Fire HD. I’m such a sap. I might as well have handed her my balls on a silver platter.

He puts the girl before his dick.

Dani loves her three Kindles. She loves her book boyfriends. She loves reading. She gets emotionally involved with her characters, something Liam finds endearing.

I was prepared to write these two off as a couple that had no flaws, no issues, they were that loved up.

But Rick had to enter their picture and manipulate them and like a super spy gleaning information.

Liam doesn’t know that Rick is Dani’s painful past.

Dani doesn’t know that Rick knows Liam.

Rick is working the system to his benefit.

Naughty Rick!

But then things start to change. Is Rick, unbeknown to even himself, because he has Dani fever, actually liking Madison more and more?

I placed my hands gently on her shoulders with my head hanging in defeat. “Maddy, what do you have to forget?” My eyes pleaded with her. “Fuck, baby, look at me. What do you need to forget? Just tell me.”

Maddy just got a whole lot more intriguing.

Is Madison starting to feel something for Rick?

I really liked the three pov’s in this book. Rick, Dani and Liam.

I have to admit I really looked forward to Rick’s pov, he was quite manipulative, but as the story goes on, we see more of Rick and we watch things become a little confusing for him.

Rick assumed he would get the girl.

But which girl?

Just when I thought Dani and Liam couldn’t do any wrong...the shiz hits the fan with them and I saw Liam shake off his chick coat and become this deeper guy.

Don’t get me wrong. Liam is perfect. He is gorgeous. He is the nicest guy a girl could have in his life. He loves Dani so much that they morph into each other.

My husband’s cousin and his wife are like this with each other. They become one. There is nothing they won’t do for each other.

Everything is just easy.

What a tangled web we weave when we practice to deceive.

Rick spun a web.

How many people has he caught in it and hurt?

I really liked the sub characters. Chris , Liam’s buddy has his own words of wisdom when it came down to the crunch. He was there for Liam. I love his friendship with Liam.

Then Chris went over to Liam and gave him a man hug, patting him on the back. He pulled back, laughing. “No fucking way, dude. Now , you even smell like a chick.”

Macy may be a bit of a babbler , but she and Candace are tight when it comes to their friend Dani. Macy is quite a funny girl.

“Rick is enough to make us all upset. Tell us what he did , and we’ll go chop his dick off,” Macy said matter-of-factly.

Candace and Macy know how hard the break up with Rick has been on Dani. They know she has pulled herself together and found someone who is perfect for her.

Dani has to trust her feelings for Liam.

Liam is not Rick. Liam is Liam.

“Fight for me, Dani. Fight for us.”

Liam pulled on my heart strings.

But then Rick had to show Dani the man Dani always knew Rick could be.

Thanks to Madison.

Ahhh the tangled web of deceit which included tame stalking.

I really enjoyed this first installment in The Do Over series and am rather keen to crack open It’s Not Over and see what is happening.

Redemption and some grovelling may be on the cards.

For all Rick’s faults, I could see a guy who eventually knew when he had stuffed up and needed to start making amends.

I highly recommend reading The Do Over.

Michelle

He wanted her to help him win his ex-girlfriend back. She wanted to teach him a few lessons on how to treat a woman. Neither one planned for the unexpected.

She’s gone. I’m desperate and going insane. I’ll do whatever it takes to find her. I don’t know when I fell for her, but I won’t let her go. What has she done to me? I’m Rick Marin, for crying out loud. I don’t chase women…but she’s not just any woman. She’s Maddy—my Maddy—and I need her.

I couldn’t stand by and watch. I have to run fast and far to get away and forget him. He weaseled his way into my life, making me question rules I live by, and he turned my orderly life upside down. I’m falling apart and coming undone. I don’t do that. I will not allow a man to derail me. I’m Madison Stuart. I live life by my rules.

Follow The Do Over’s most notorious couple, Rick and Madison, as they learn that It’s Not Over.

Goodreads:

EXCERPT

We hit a little turbulence, and reality set in at thirty thousand feet. I was on an airplane, holding Madison in my arms, on my way to New York City. I looked around, taking everything in, and I caught the flight attendant, sitting across from us, eye-fucking me. She smiled as she lowered her eyes to my dick. I wondered if she was imagining a threesome. What else could she be thinking, gawking at me, while I’m holding another woman? Somehow, I knew that my conclusion would land me in a new category of asshole. Surprisingly though, I wasn’t the least bit interested in even entertaining the fantasy. I want Madison exclusively.

My heart pounded faster, and my mouth went dry. I hadn’t admitted that to myself or any other living soul. I grabbed the bottled water and drank it in one gulp. I can’t stand her half the time. She drives me crazy. She infuriates me like no one else. But I felt something for her that I couldn’t describe. It was more than wanting to bury my dick in her and fuck her hard…I couldn’t live without her. Fuck, fuck, fuck.

She shifted against me, sliding her hand inside my jacket. Reclining my head back against the seat, thoughts of her flooded my mind. Somehow, along my quest to win Daniela back, Madison had become my best friend and something more.

Liam Lucas’s words hit me like a tsunami. Your friend is more than a friend. You don’t go up against your brother over a chick unless she’s under your skin, and if you aren’t sleeping with her, then you’ve got it bad.
