Richelle shows us at the start of The Golden Lily, Keith, and what he looked like after some of his ‘re-education’. I fear Sydney is going to be caught out by her Alchemist group and be finding herself some ‘re-education’ in the near future. I can’t help thinking this. A line has definitely been crossed, whether Sydney knows how much, or not.
Adrian is that line.
I love Adrian. He still has his inability to get names right when he chooses. Ha!
Enter Brayden, or whatever name Adrian has for him. LOL! When Brayden and Sydney get together their dialogue reminded me of Sheldon and Amy in Big Bang Theory. They were a hoot to read, but ......we all know Adrian is waiting in the wings. Hence my ‘re-education’ fear for Sydney. This can’t go well, if it goes?
I loved watching Sydney show us how darn smart she is and how much she has this natural flare for caring for this group of characters, no matter whether ex Strigoi, Moroi or plain human. Her fear of vampires and everything she has had drilled into her, have disappeared.
Sydney goes beyond the call of duty, she takes it in her stride and starts sorting the problems at hand. I loved how we see a new direction that Richelle is taking with Sydney. Upping the ante with her character and some magical powers, so to speak.... the girl can, if she allows herself, kick villain ass with spells.
She is no Rose. But are we going to see a fearless , kickass chick in future instalments?

Trey, where am I sticking this boy? I am feeling a ‘something’ in the air. It was Adrian, Rose and Dimitri......will it be Adrian , Sydney and Trey? The fighter type character that has professed his non interest, but ???
I loved having Dimitri in this book. He is there with Sonya researching. He pops up for some Dimitri smexi saving the girls, skills, but then he glides into the background for some research and words of wisdom. OOo I love it when he calls Rose , ‘Roza’.
We had just paid the check when Dimitri’s cell phone rang. “Hello?” he answered. And like that, his face transformed. That fierceness I so associated with him softened, and he practically glowed. “No, no. It’s always a good time for you to call, Roza.”

I’m now worried about loveable Eddie. The boy has it bad. But has he become the Adrian type character?
Sydney swallows a lot of her fears in this book, maybe at the risk of getting in deep poop with her Alchemist leaders. Adrian shows us more of his pain and also his fears.
I love the guy.
He needs love.
I know he is going to get it eventually, but I am afraid at what cost to his feelings along the way, and what the payment will be for that love, from the one who loves him in return?
Richelle is going to be putting her characters through the wringer, I can tell in future instalments. The way this book finished, the wringer has started turning.

If I’d wanted to shut them all up, I’d definitely succeeded. They all looked stunned. Adrian spoke first. “I’m going to assume that means he’s flying you to Amsterdam on his private jet. If so, I’d like to come along. But not for the windmills.”
I got coffee. Adrian ordered a martini, earning disapproving looks from his father and me.
“It’s barely noon,” said Nathan.
“I know,” said Adrian. “I’m surprised I held out that long too.”
