BOOK REVIEW - CITY OF GLASS -THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS SERIES # 3 by Cassandra Clare

By : Cassandra Clare
Published By : Walker Books
Released : Available Now
Details: Paperback, 492 Pages

RATING 5 SMEXI JACE STARS!!!

Book Blurb : Taken From Goodreads

To save her mother's life, Clary must travel to the City of Glass, the ancestral home of the Shadowhunters -- never mind that entering the city without permission is against the Law, and breaking the Law could mean death. To make things worse, she learns that Jace does not want her there, and Simon has been thrown in prison by the Shadowhunters, who are deeply suspicious of a vampire who can withstand sunlight.

As Clary uncovers more about her family's past, she finds an ally in mysterious Shadow-hunter Sebastian. With Valentine mustering the full force of his power to destroy all Shadow-hunters forever, their only chance to defeat him is to fight alongside their eternal enemies. But can Downworlders and Shadowhunters put aside their hatred to work together? While Jace realizes exactly how much he's willing to risk for Clary, can she harness her new found powers to help save the Glass City -- whatever the cost?

BOOK REVIEW:

I first picked up the 3 book TMI series along with Suzanne Collins's, The Hunger Games and Catching Fire at Big W in 2009 . Now the funny thing..or not funny...is that the only reason I picked up these 5 books is because Stephenie Meyer had her blurb on City Of Glass and also The Hunger Games. I had never heard of these books until I was standing in Big W looking at the Evernight series by Claudia Gray ( truly awesome series) and pondering what other books I should sneak into my trolley. Now I was in my Twimom obssession well and truly and was trying my darnest to get off the Merry - Go- Round of Twilight series . ( 9 times and counting) Round and round I was going until some friends literally threw me off , told me to get a grip and read something else. Then I opened and started reading City Of Bones.......the rest is history. Stephenie Meyer helped me to move forward and I am so glad she did.

By now if you have read City Of Bones and City Of Ashes you are very familiar with the characters, Jace, Clary, Simon, Alec, Isabelle, Luke, Jocelyn, Magnus Bane and Valentine.

City Of Glass takes us to Idris and Alicante the home of the Shadowhunters. Jace's home. Jace is forever trying to protect Clary, and she is always jumping in head first, quite literally in this book. Clary has a power within her that she doesn't truly understand . A power the Clave would want to use, making her their personal weapon. Jace needs it kept a secret out of fear for Clary.

Clary must get to Ragnor Fell a powerful Warlock who can help her find what she needs to wake Jocelyn up .

Poor Simon is always in the wars a bit these days and this book is no exception. Simon is coming into his own . He is rather fearless if he stopped and thought about himself.  Valentine is still the ever present evil daddy , hellbent on seeing his vision come to fruitition.

New characters are introduced, Sebastian being one of them............ *wiggles eyebrows*.

Truths are revealed that will knock you sideways, a kleenex ( tissue) moment will appear, betrayal is severe, blood is shed, kick butt fighting scenes, corruption, rules broken, new rules made  and love just doesn't want to take a back seat.

Jace is just awesome in this book. His heart is pounded to a pulp but he can't give up. Clary the ever smart female lead takes things into her own hands to bring order to the Clave .

Some scenes in this book would look wonderful on the big screen. All I will say is the Angel scenes would look fantastic . I got rather excited with the grass groping scene..lol!!!

I have brought up my theory with Cassandra Clare in regards to Magnus Bane. I shall say no more here, but I think I am onto something. ( Well I am pretty sure I am... *mumbles to myself* ) I think we may all be in for a shock....eeek gasp!!!...or not.

FAVE QUOTES:

"If I feel the urge to burst into flames, I'll let you know."

"Much as I hate to admit it , vampire , we have something in common."
 "Totally awesome hair?" Simon suggested........

"Fine . Go ahead . Kiss me, right now."
......"Exactly. Despite my staggering good looks, ...."

"It's my cologne. Eau de recent Injury."

"Nice, bah. He's gorgeous."Magnus gazed dreamily in his direction. "You should leave him here. I could hang hats on him and things."

".....to protect you from the sort of boys who want to do with you exactly what I want to do."

"You had to make a crazy jail friend, didn't you? You couldn't just count ceiling tiles or tame a pet mouse like normal prisoners do?"

"Has there ever been an Inquisitor who didn't die a horrible death?" he wondered aloud. "It's like being the drummer in Spinal Tap."

"I'm not going to do that."
"Of course you're not," said Jace,  "because you live to torture me, don't you?"
"Not everything , Jace, is about you, " Clary said furiously.
"Possibly, " Jace said, "but you have to admit that the majority of things are."

"I must be the only vampire in the world sickened by the sight of blood."

"And meanwhile, I'll die a little bit more every day, watching."

my fave.....sigh....

"I love you, and I will love you until I die, and if there's life after that, I'll love you then."

  2. Hi Aylee,

Only 120 torturous days to wait.....Jace is my super special guy. I have finally gotten a friend to concede that Jace has overtaken Balthazar ( Balthy or bathtub boy as he is referred to by us) from Evernight series, Claudia Gray. If you haven't read them, do yourself a favour. My reviews are long coming for that series. I told my friend Balthy will take a back seat to Jace...and I was right:D She now has to wear a bib where Jace is concerned for all the drooling.
