Former Marine sniper Seth Harlan is determined to prove that he can still do his job despite his ongoing battle with PTSD. When an old friend contacts HORNET to rescue a black ops soldier, Seth's stability is strained. He knows all too well what it's like to rot inside an enemy camp, praying for rescue and waiting for death. And he's not about to leave a man behind.
Photojournalist Phoebe Leighton just stumbled into the middle of an arms deal. Teaming up with a ragtag team of mercenaries is the last thing she wants to do--especially when she realizes Seth Harlan is assigned to the mission. He may ignite a passion in her she thought long dead, but Phoebe's hiding a secret that could destroy him.

With a bomb in the mix, HORNET's mission is suddenly about a lot more than an abandoned soldier. Racing against the clock, Seth, Phoebe, and the rest of the team struggle to stop a ruthless warlord bent on power, revenge...and death.

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

Yehaa! Loved this installment in the Hornet series. SEAL of Honor, book 1 in this series I enjoyed, but I really dug this installment. I am a huge fan of Maya Banks's , KGI series, so this series is starting to really shape up as one of my faves, too.

I haven’t as yet read, Wilde Nights in Paradise, book one in the Wilde Security series, which I probably should have read before this one, as you get to meet Seth in it, but that is ok. I shall read it next.

This installment felt believable and Seth Harlan is a great character who grabbed my attention from the start.

Phoebe was a much more likable and relatable female lead in this installment, than Audrey was for me, in the first book. She is intelligent and brave. I did enjoy seeing Audrey again and I connected better with her character in this book.

Seth will pull at your heart strings, many times. I really liked how he was written. It is hard not to want to give him a hug for all he has been through. It is not enough, but you feel like hugging him.

Gabe’s team are a lot more put together and we get snippets of the other guys on the team and glimpses of their broken lives. I am looking forward to reading about all these guys.

Especially... Tucker Quentin.

Talk about Alpha and broody.

Jean-Luc is my humorous guy in this series, he was playing the part a bit quieter in this installment, but he was still there with his comments.

“You paid too much for it.”

“I know. Like I said, kid’s a little thief.” But he smiled as he looped the scarf around his neck. “Gotta admire him for it. Besides, what am I goin’ to do with a handful of afghani bills if we end up running around in the mountains? Up there, it’s only good for toilet paper. But a scarf? Now, mon ami, that’s useful.”

“Good point.” So there was a method to Jean-Luc’s madness after all. Because of his propensity to joke around more than anyone on the team, it was sometimes hard to rmemberhe housed genius-level intellect behind that mischievous grin.

“No, not yet. Wait her a sec.”

Jean-Luc snorted. “Fuck that. You ever see a horror movie? The pretty one always dies first when they split up and I’m too young to bite it. We’re sticking together.” Seth rolled his eyes and ducked into the crowd.

Jesse is a great character. I liked him from the start of this series.

Ian is being a full on cranky Joe in this installment. He has some layers that need to be peeled back.

And then, there is Quinn. Can’t wait to read his book.

The one thing I took from this installment is the damaged souls these soldiers can get from serving their country. We live our days comfortably while they are fighting a war that is on going, for all of us and we forget the torture and death that is going on every minute of every day. We cocoon ourselves from it all in the safety of our  homes.

Authors like Tonya bring us these types of stories which remind me of the price of freedom and the price these soldiers and their families pay.

And the price on their souls.

I totally dug this installment and am looking forward to reading more in this series. These guys are all growing on me.

Can’t wait for Jean-Luc’s book, he is a bit of a naughty lad.

I was just over on twitter, and  saw one of Tonya's tweets. Broken Honor is the title of # 3 and this will be Travis Quinn's book.

This is her inspired image of Quinn to wet your whistles.

With that thought in mind. GIDDY UP!!!
