GLOBAL BLOG TOUR - 5 BOOK GIVEAWAYS PLUS TOUR GIVEAWAY & AUDIO SNIPPET- THE 5TH WAVE by RICK YANCEY - PENGUIN

Novels On The Run has never been asked to join a Global Blog Tour before, this is very exciting for us.  What is more exciting is how freakin' awesome this book is. The 5th Wave really does rock the kazbah. Rick Yancey , hits it out the ball park with his Alien invasion apocalyptic read.

Seriously it is a wicked read!

My review is HERE and I don't give any spoilers, which was freakin' hard.  I have to just shout out how awesome this book is. Truly, I am not joking, this is a heart pounding, totally one sitting read if your time permits.

For those of you who read my reviews, you know I always speak from my heart about how I feel. This book had me humming and a bit over excited after I had finished. I had to give it half a day to calm down before I wrote my review.

I am going to be telling you today what I would be putting inside my survival backpack , plus I have an audio excerpt for you . Like , seriously how cool is that. All the bloggers will have one for you on the tour. At the end of the tour the whole audio excerpt will be revealed.

I LOVE a creative blog tour.

SYNOPSIS - THE 5TH WAVE

The Passage meets Ender’s Game in an epic new series from award-winning author Rick Yancey.
After the 1st wave, only darkness remains. After the 2nd, only the lucky escape. And after the 3rd, only the unlucky survive. After the 4th wave, only one rule applies: trust no one.

Now, it’s the dawn of the 5th wave, and on a lonely stretch of highway, Cassie runs from Them. The beings who only look human, who roam the countryside killing anyone they see. Who have scattered Earth’s last survivors. To stay alone is to stay alive, Cassie believes, until she meets Evan Walker. Beguiling and mysterious, Evan Walker may be Cassie’s only hope for rescuing her brother—or even saving herself. But Cassie must choose: between trust and despair, between defiance and surrender, between life and death. To give up or to get up.

This is a really cool snippet. Take a listen. I really like the narrators voice. I could quite easily listen to this audio book. I was remembering the passage as she was narrating it.

Here is my vlog of what I would pack in my survival pack.

  1. Loved your survival pack Michelle, awesome. I would have the water bottle, a flint and The Lord of The Rings paperback (I can never be without a good read and this is 3 books in one & it could be used in an emergency as fire starters) LOL. Thanks for the giveaway, I have heard fabulous reviews about this book and can't wait to read it.

    1. LOL!! Oh yeah I forgot my pack of medium sized matches, lol!!! Forgot to put them in the vlog, lol!!! See when you are in a rush, ya always forget something important..hehe!

Silly me. Glad you remembered. After watching all those survivor reality tv shows, I always told myself MATCHES, none of that trying to rub things together and blow on it.

      :D

    1. Hey Kalasyn,

Nahh, It all fitted into a red fabric cloth shopping bag. I had small everything :) Can opener and hard drive were the heaviest things :) Everything else was mostly either consumable or useable :)

I did forget the matches. I did have them out, but forgot to include them in vlog, lol!
i was in a rush, the aliens were coming. I figured my back pack couldn't take too much and THE ALIENS WERE COMING...AAAAHHHHH!!

      Hehe!

  3. Hmm....although it seems that matches, a warm coat and a swiss army knife would probably be the way to go, I feel like I would freak out and accidentally pack unrelated and useless objects like my phone (yeah, that would totally work in a post-apocalyptic wasteland....)

    1. Hi Nara,

I through the phone in because Cassie had it in hers (character) I figured that if they could get electricity back up, in some cases there was still , then I was good to try and contact someone:)

It is hard if you had only a short time to grab things:) I was supposed to put my penguin self charging torch in. You just squeeze the flippers and it recharges itself. Just noisy. Baddies would hear me coming. I grabbed a kitchen knife, but I personally felt bad about having a weapon to kill someone, lol!! So I put it back. I wanted a crossbow, but don't have one. It felt more removed not being close to someone to kill them:D

      Gahh!!

  4. Hi,

my three things would have to be:

    - a hunting knife (food & predators beware)
    - a flint (to start a fire)
    - a cooking pot ( to boil my water & cook my food)

I'm all about the food & drink it seems.

    1. Mary nice choices. I had a kitchen of utensils, but not sure how they would fit, so I decided, to just raid peeps places when I needed something ..hehe!! I had thought of flint but I don't have that in the house. So Swiss army knife was my most dangerous weapon I could carry as I truly couldn't imagine myself killing someone or something. I would have to harden up!!! Or tweezer them to death. I figured infection is a killer so I went with some things to stop infection, lol!!

      :D

  6. Oooh. Fantastic video Mich! It's really hard to think what I'd pack. I could actually survive without a phone but I think I'd need a hunting knife/blade of some kind (don't think ay one would want to be without that), a heavy waterproof jacket and maybe some kind of bow and arrow set. Hey, it worked for Katniss, why not me?!?! Hehe.

Thanks for the chance to win Michelle and the chance.

    1. I threw the phone in because I would be kicking myself if the electro thingys undid the thing they did and I could actually try to phone a relie :) Hehe!!! Or phone someone??

I wanted the crossbow like Daryl Dixon from Walking Dead but I could only do what I had in the house...hehe!!! I had chatted with Felicity at Penguin about the crossbow. See ya never have a crossbow lying about when ya need one :)

I wanted a knife but I thought about it and thought who am I kidding, who or what would I kill....I gotta harden up if I am to survive.

Only thing I thought was I would trip and stab myself as I didn't have one of those sheath things you stick a knife in.

      I'm a nerd I'm not a bad ass, lol!!

    2. Water purification is a great idea. If I wasn't doing a vlog, I could just list things , but I thought I would do a vlog and have fun with it , but then I had to have the things to throw in the bag. I thought of sun screen but I couldn't find the bottle. I think it was in the back of the Pajero, hubs had car :)

Gotta love Alien's and their inappropriate time to invade me :)

  8. Hmmm, I'd definitely need a knife, night-vision goggles and waterproof clothes. But with those items, I doubt I would last long!

    1. We are nothing but practical, lol!! I wouldn't last too long, nerds don't have fight in them when it comes to attacking . I would squeal and start running and then I need to brush up on the cardio. :D

  9. Hahaha I think I laughed the whole way through your video. Your kind of survival kit is probably MY kind.... aka nearly the entire house :P Also, I love that you had to clarify your meaning of 'wood'.... not that any dirty thoughts ever crossed your mind. Clearly they did mine :P

Anyway, I only get to pick 3 things?! Harsh! Alright, if I was told I had to run RIGHT NOW... *looks around house*

    1. An umbrella! It can block sun, rain and potential alien probey things from reaching my brain. PLUS it can double as an eye-pokey weapon. I wouldn't have to get as close to my enemies to stab them as I would with a knife. Granted, it's not as lethal...

    2. Spirit by Brigid Kemmerer. I'm reading it at the moment and be damned if I'm going to die without finishing it!

    3. Every ounce of chocolate I can find in my house. Let's face it, it's highly unlikely I'll survive three days given my lack of survival skills. So at least I'll have a taste of heaven before I die... just in case I don't make it to the real thing in the after-life :)

Thanks so much for the giveaway!!! SUPER excited to read this. Your review, in addition to all the buzz, is making me want those aliens to hurry up and invade my bookshelf already. Can't wait to read it!

    1. LOL!! * face plant*

Not much I can really say about my spazzy vid, I was trying to give the urgency of not having time to think and grab, lol!

OO yes I am reading Spirit, I figured I had all the books on the hard drive I packed if I EVER got to use it.

      Umbrella, nice idea!!!

I figured I would probably get knocked off early as I am not a killer, so if I could die smelling nice and have clean ears, that was something. HEHEHEEE!!
