Lenore Applehans
Today on Novels On The Run I would like to welcome fellow blogger , turned debut YA author, Lenore Applehans. * claps hands*

Level 2 is her debut dystopian, sci-fi ish,  novel with a difference. Lenore is currently busy on tour in the USA and working on Level 3.

Thank you Lenore for coming down under today and having a chat.

Michelle:   Lenore , you are a blogger turned debut YA author, woot! Congratulations on making the transition.  Your blog is , ‘Presenting Lenore’.  Level 2 is your debut dystopian novel. I am currently reading and enjoying your very creative, original idea for a dystopian afterlife. What a clever idea.

Being a blogger first, how did that make you feel knowing your work was going to be reviewed...err...by bloggers?

Lenore:  First of all, I have to say, I’m thrilled by the support I’ve gotten from other bloggers. It’s really an amazing community that I’m proud to be a part of.

*nods*

Lenore:  I’ve read a fair sampling of bloggers reviews and they run the gamut – some loved the book, others not so much. But what’s important is that everyone’s been honest. A dishonest review is worth nothing, and I know as well as any other blogger that not everyone is going to like everything.

True! Honesty is what readers rely on from book bloggers. We aren't here to convert anyone, we just say our personal honest thoughts, they may differ to another bloggers.

Michelle:  What 5 words describe Lenore the author?

Lenore:  (ha, totally depends on the day, but let’s do today – a day after I got up at 3:30 am to drive to Kansas City to do a TV morning show, visited tons of area bookstores to sign stock, had a fabulous event at Mysteryscape with Emily Hainsworth, ate dinner with a high school friend and her daughter and drove back, arriving to my bed at 1:30 am)

Exhausted, Grateful, Ready for more!

Sounds like a lot of busy fun.

Michelle:  Book blogging has us devouring books of all genres and reviewing our thoughts and feelings on these books. If you were to tap somebody on the shoulder on the street , show them your book, and in a paragraph sell your book to them to take home and read, not using already used blurb on your book, what would you tell that person?

Lenore:  I’d ask them what type of books they liked and then craft a sales pitch based on that.

Michelle:  The song you listened to whilst writing Level 2, was Bloodbuzz Ohio by The National.

Michelle:  What song did you play a lot whilst writing Level 3, the sequel, and why?

Lenore:  I’ve been listening to What Else Is There? By Royksopp. It’s the perfect atmosphere for Level 3.

What an interesting song.

Michelle:  Level 3 the sequel to Level 2, do you have a quote you could tease us with please....or not... No names necessary.

Lenore:  More twists! We also find out that Neil is hiding a pretty big secret.

Michelle:  Neil and Julian, one is viewed through memories, one is all for getting Felicia to leave her ‘hive’. What 4 words would Felicia use to describe Neil and what 4 words would she use to describe Julian?

Lenore:  Neil is a great listener. Julian is charming but untrustworthy.

Michelle:  What song would you pick that describes Julian’s character?

Lenore:  After I wrote the book, I found a song called Julien by Placebo. Funnily enough, it’s pretty accurate!

Michelle:  What is the most memorable thing a person has said to you about your debut book?

Lenore:  I love the reader mails I get that are interspersed with ALL CAPS and !!!!. Those are fun!

I am one of those !!!!!!! I can get a wee bit excited sometimes .

Michelle:  What has been the most memorable book signing you have been to, for whatever reason? Who was the author?

Lenore:  The most excited I ever was? When Suzanne Collins signed CATCHING FIRE arcs at BEA. I got up at like 4 am to get a ticket for that line. It was insane!

Michelle: Thank you Lenore and best wishes with your tour and writing. I am really enjoying your original idea. Very intriguing to see where you go in Level 3 J

  3. I love that Lenore is a blogger! And and AND! I love this cover. Like I want to frame it on my wall. I haven't read this yet, but I'm looking toward to it. I've heard a lot of mixed reviews, and afterlife stories aren't usually my thing, but I do like the sci fi aspect of this one.

  7. Thisbbook is everywhere. I'm now back in my YA ban. I can't get to the stories anymore! Veronica Rossi is sitting on my shelf unread. I will read these books vicariously through you Matey.

The musical choices are interesting, it's my kind of jam.
