BOOK REVIEW - WAKE UNTO ME by LISA CACH

By : Lisa Cach
Published By : Speak
Released : Available Now
Details : Paperback , 304 Pages

RATING : 4 RAPHAEL STARS!!!

Book Blurb : Taken From Goodreads

A haunted castle, a handsome young man dead for four hundred years, one heck of a scary portrait of a witch, and a treasure hunt -- not to mention a princess for a roommate! -- all await 15 year old American girl Caitlyn Monahan when she earns a scholarship to a French boarding school.

There are secrets behind the stone walls of Chateau de la Fortune, buried for centuries along with the mystery of who killed Raphael, the charming ghost who visits Caitlyn at night. But as Caitlyn unearths the history of the castle, nothing scares her as badly as the secret she learns about herself, and the reason she was chosen to come to the Fortune School.

And nothing breaks her heart as badly as falling in love with a dead guy.

BOOK REVIEW:

I really enjoyed , ‘Wake unto Me’. It is a story about love told through dreams and using the power of fortune telling with tarot cards. I found it very original and quite a mysterious read. When you think you know what is happening..... curve ball...then you get a twist in the story. It’s not a book full of action , but it held my interest because as the reader I was trying to uncover what Caitlyn was going through. Just like Caitlyn Monahan herself was trying to discover.

Caitlyn , although young had quite a bit of maturity to her for her age. Don’t get me wrong she had a lot of fears and felt she needed to get away from her family in Oregon and accept the mysterious invitation that came out of nowhere to attend the Fortune School in France, perched on a cliff , overlooking the Dordogne River.

Raphael the Italian stallion is a gorgeous character. You feel his pull towards Caitlyn but he is like the reader , discovering the why of it all. I loved when the story left the walls of the Fortune School and turned to Raphael. He was a pleasure to read. Lisa wrote his era very well, visually. I loved reading Raphael and Caitlyn together in his era.

There are great supporting characters, especially Naomi, I really liked her understanding of Caitlyn , as she really needed somebody to be there for her , to talk out what she was going through, to just be there for her when she couldn't sleep.

This book has a quiet mystery to it and the Heart that must be found. The story unravels nicely which keeps the pages turning and I learnt a thing or two about tarot cards along the way.

Lisa Cach had me holding my breath literally at one stage as I had resigned myself to one thing in my head to be told another that it kinda took me off guard.

Lisa wove a really lovely story in ‘Wake Unto Me’, it left me wanting to know more about Raphael.
