REVIEW:

There is quite a lot of hype in the blogging world about The Goddess Test......and rightly so!!  Aimee Carter has written a fantastic debut novel.  Her use of Greek mythology as the foundation has worked well and has certainly inspired me to learn more about the Greek Gods.
The Goddess Test takes us on a journey with Kate....from a teenager caring for her terminally ill mother....to the future bride of Henry - who claims to be Hades.

Once Kate is in Henry's world she is "tested" to see if she is fit to be a goddess.  Kate is not to know when the tests are taking place so readers will wonder for the first half of the book when the tests will begin.  As we see this story through Kate's eyes we don't get to know of the tests until she herself figures it out.  This may confuse some readers wanting to know why Aimee has not elaborated on the tests - as they are supposed to be a large part of the story!  But never fear.......Aimee has laid enough foundation around the idea of the tests to make sure that you "click" about the same time as Kate does in the story. Some may get it even sooner!

Kate is a lovely character that is easily loved. She is focused, loving and a good soul.  She becomes strong and very sure of herself and her position in the world.

Henry.....well for someone who is pretty darn ancient, dark, broody and very reserved.....yum!  But then I kinda like the dark, brooding good looking ones!!!  I just wanted to grab him and shake him up a bit so Kate could see some emotion from him. He is very reserved - but you know there will be an immense amount of passion in him to!  He has seen a large quantity of could-be goddesses die during the test - don't blame him for not wanting to get too attached to Kate before a decision has been made.

Ava - I just loved her!!! She is just sooooo.......... well I can't tell you coz that will just sooooo give it away!!! She is spunky, cheeky and guy crazy!  She also lands herself into a lot of trouble - which Kate has to deal with on more than one occasion.

James - the best friend who would be more!  He so very much wants to be more than a friend to Kate -it's just not currently possible.  Kate does cherish his friendship greatly and we will see it "tested" later in the story.

Calliope - I want to say sooooo much....but again.....it'll give it away!! This is one twisted sister!!!

Aimee has given us a set of great characters to enjoy.  She has also given us a POW towards the end and then left us VERY intrigued as to what will play out in Goddess Interrupted. My mind has been running all different scenarios since I finished!!

For now though......grab The Goddess Test by Aimee Carter and start what is set to be a fantastic trilogy. It is due out for publication around April 26, 2011.

Next week I will be posting my interview with Aimee. Check out the posting below to find out more how you can be involved in it!

ENJOY!
MARISSA
