The bar Sophia Pearce is in doesn’t look like much. The wine is bad and the decor worse. But when a sudden attack of curiosity leads her to sneak past security and into the back room, she discovers something unimaginable. The most lavish party she’s ever laid eyes on, in the most unlikely of places.
But that’s nothing compared to what comes next, to the man she meets back there. Sebastian Lock. Gorgeous, commanding, and radiating charm, he is exactly the sort of silver-tongued rake Sophia has sworn to avoid. Unfortunately, he doesn’t care much for her promises.
Every instinct tells her to run, but the chemistry between them is as inescapable as gravity. Soon, he’s opening her eyes to a whole new world of pleasures, pleasures she never thought she’d enjoy.
There’s just one problem. Sebastian is more than he seems. Between the famous company he keeps and the almost paranoid secrecy of his employers, he’s a puzzle Sophia can’t quite solve, and his insistence on keeping things casual forces her to confront the demons of her past.
Can she learn to trust again? Or will Sebastian’s privacy tear them apart?
Contains light BDSM, including spanking, restraint, and anal play
Note: This book is the first part of a trilogy that is designed to be read together, much like The Blackstone Affair. Sebastian and Sophia will get their happily ever after, but not until the last book.

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:
I won this novella from my girls over at Talk Supe - Lockout # 2 Review. I actually didn’t realize Maya Cross was an Australian author. I do like to promote the Aussie authors, when I can.
The novella covers are really eye catching and complimentary to each other.
I really like the catch phrase on each of the two released blurbs.
Who is Sebastian Lock?
Good question!
What I enjoyed about Maya’s story was the setting. I lived three and a half years in Sydney and I could easily picture the setting. It’s not often I can do that as a lot of books I read are set in the USA or Europe.
This is a short novella. Now for a story of this nature, I do think the books have to be longer to get into knowing the character’s, before the erotica BDSM starts. I understand this is a novella series, but I think sixty eight pages ( showing on my ereader) is too short a novella size. It feels like it's over before it starts.
I thought Sophia was a bit silly at the start of this book. I know she had sunk a few drinks and she seemed to enjoy having a drink quite often in this novella, but she didn’t come across initially as the type of chick I would see Sebastian with, not like the Sophia on the front of the novella cover. I have read my fair share of erotica/BDSM, but in saying that Sophia grew on me. Hence why I think this was a too short novella. Sure she is fun, but I think I missed out on some depth with her.
Sebastian on the other hand, I thought Maya handled him very well considering the size of the novella. He has mystery to him as Maya hints at stuff for the reader.
What is Sebastian doing when he disappears for a few weeks?
What did that document mean that Sophia snooped at in his office?
There are several questions that add to Sebastian's character, add to the whole, who is Sebastian Lock?
I did think Sebastian should have been maybe angry finding Sophia hiding as he did have a document on his desk he may not have wanted anyone to see and she did overhear a conversation that sounded rather intriguing. He appears like a man that has a dangerous hidden life, a secretive life with all that hiring of staff for his events, and the facade of the pub.
That is how I feel from what I have read. Am I right??
He wants to keep that side of his life secretive. So why be so casual when he finds her hiding and watching?
When you are on a pub crawl with your mates, you probably will stand out like a sore thumb at one of Sebastian's events. I didn't get a descriptive of what Sophia was wearing on her pub crawl, so I can assume pub crawl attire. Not unless I missed something? She did have on heels.
He knows the type of sex he wants. He appears very much in control of his life.
He is very much an Alpha male.
Sebastian Lock is a stunning guy who knows how to get what he wants, he brings the uber smexi and I want to know what he is hiding.
Sophia is working a job that gives her no thanks. I don’t really know an awful lot about her as a person. I know she likes to have a drink. I don’t feel like I have a connection with her at the moment.
I want Sophia to prove to me why she is worth Sebastian breaking his normal rules of exclusivity for her when he can possess any woman.
I am intrigued to read Lockout, book # 2, and see where Maya is going to take me.
Plus, Sebastian is ...well, Sebastian.
A good start to this novella series.
FAVE QUOTE:
He smiled when he noticed me, those blazing eyes caressing my body like a soft wind, sending a tingle up my spine.
"You look lovely," he said.
I gave a little spin. "Thank you. It's not Prada, but it does the job."
He laughed. "What makes you think I want Prada? You make too many assumptions, Sophia."
"So if I told you this outfit was thirty bucks at Myer, you wouldn't send me back to change?"
"No. I'd say that most girls would kill to look that good for thirty dollars."
"Well if it's value you're looking for, I might be able to get it down to twenty if you give me a few more minutes to change."
He let out a little growl. "I know I said this dinner was strictly no obligations, but if you keep giving me excuses as to why you should remove your clothes, I won't be held responsible for my actions."
I really like the catch phrase on each of the two released blurbs.

Sophia had never felt attraction like that before. Raw. Electric. Irresistible. Swept off her feet by the dashing, enigmatic billionaire Sebastian Lock, she was taken on a journey of self-discovery, taken to places she never dreamed she’d go.
But things are never as simple as they appear. Sophia’s trust is a fragile thing, and Sebastian seems insistent on testing it. He has his own demons to battle, and nobody has brought them to the fore like she has.
As their relationship deepens, and Sophia begins to break down his walls, all that greets her are more questions. Why is Sebastian fighting so hard to keep her at a distance? Who is the girl on the background of his phone? And why does the strange tattoo on his chest seem so familiar?
These puzzles plague her, but as Sebastian’s mysteries begin to unravel, she must face an entirely different truth. Staying in the dark may be painful, but finding the answers could be deadly.
