Murphy is off to a potty mouthed, ten pin bowling start in his very own book.

I looked away, and using the Skin-walker’s head like a cannon ball, I shot it through the air at one of the Skin-walkers who was still attacking Potter. The decapitated head smacked into the face of the unsuspecting Skin-walker and I heard a sickening thud. He fell backwards onto his arse.

Stiiiiiirrriiikkkee!!!

Kayla, bless her, she has this blood thirsty vengeance hiding inside her that peeks out every now and then. Sam is still bobbling about. I keep waiting for Tim to prove Potter right or wrong.

I absolutely LOVE Murphy and Potter. They have this chemistry like no other characters I have come across. I could listen to them going off at each other all day. I have a grin plastered on my face when these two are communicating the only way they know how, with potty mouthed enthusiasm.

“You’d better open your eyes, or I’m going to rip you a new arsehole myself,” I roared down at him.

“I didn’t know you felt like that for me,” Potter suddenly croaked just above a whisper, his eyes closed.

To hear him speak, however juvenile his remark was, made me just want to grip him tight in my arms. Then, looking down at him, I dropped him back into the snow and barked, “Quit laying around in the snow and act your age.”

Potter groaned in pain as he hit the ground. “You took your fucking time.”



“In the future, will you do us all a big favour?”

“What’s that,” Potter winced, still holding his sides.

“If one of these wolves ever tries to sell you a talking parrot, check to see that there isn’t a tape recorder stuffed up its freaking arse!”

Heheheheeeeee...

Jack and Kiera. I can’t help thinking Jack makes a good argument. Before I had even read Murphy’s back story within this story, I could see how Jack needed his only family member to understand him, even if it meant trapping her to tell his story. I know he has done wrong. I get that. But I also see the little boy who didn’t have a chance.

His path was set.

He had been let down too many times.

Tim has a way of playing with my mind with Jack. I just want to erase his past and rewrite it for him. To give the little boy, who cared, a chance.

Potter, you do get yourself into trouble with the female sex. I did feel sorry for you. I’m sticking up for you, but you don’t make it easy.

“Couldn’t you feel her hairy tongue? After all, she had it shoved far enough down the back of your throat.”

Murphy has a closet of skeletons that are rattling about. His back story just had me crushing on him more.

I LOVED soooo much how Tim incorporated the classic, Wizard of Oz into his story line. It was done beautifully. It was one of my favourite scenes in this book,watching the teenage version of Murphy, James, being young and innocent, and also a little dangerous for the friend who meant so much to him.

These two made you forget the danger and distrust that normally exists between Lycanthrope and Vampyrus, the evil that is associated with Lycanthrope. We instead see a beautiful girl and a young boy showing us a possibility. We want it to work out. But will it?

“Sometimes, Potter, you can’t always help who you fall in love with.”

Such innocence. 

I really like Pen. We see Jack and how his life was destroyed. His innocence crushed. We watch Murphy tell us about the love that could not be with a twist that is very sad that snuck up on me.

Then we come to those ‘slippers’.

Sentimental, Murphy? Much.

I loved getting a bit of a full circle in this book. Ragged Cove is where we met the Sarge and we see Murphy in Police mode again in Dead Wolf. Memories of Vampire Shift came back to me, where it all started, where I met the pipe smoking, slipper wearing Sergeant Murphy.

Boy, has there been some house cleaning since then. Who knew?

I have another fave scene in this book. It is the polar opposite to singing along to the Wizard of Oz and drinking Inferno Berry juice and sweet innocence. I think anybody who has read this book will not be able to forget the totally brilliant scene that played visually all through our heads. We were singing/rapping the words and we all shot off to youtube and brought up ‘Jump Around’. This was a scene that just worked so well.

Like, wicked!

When I call characters or scenes 3D, this was one of those. I even reread the scene with the music pumping through it.

It just worked. The words were threatening and intense. It would look crazy good on the big screen.

Oh, and those statues...........*face plant*

Tim has us in our comfy reading place for most of this book watching Murphy's back story play out, this is another one of his more emotional reads, rather than action packed. The bastard trio flipped my bitch switch, and the mystery of Kayla and Sam is planted. Will Potter be right? I love the seeds that got spread about in this book. Me thinks we are all rather intrigued to find how they grow.

This book was like a crescendo of words. The build up to .........well, I can’t say but it is rather explosive!

KabOOoooooMMMmmmm!! 

‘Dead Statues’ had me in this incredible natural high of banter, emotion, fast paced storyline. Murphy and Potter, they have such magical character chemistry.

Tim swings us away from the banter and all the other characters we are used to in this instalment. This is a private showing with few characters we already know and we meet new characters. I am going to put it out there, I think every individual reader is going to think they had sorted Jack Seth in their mind from all the previous works Tim has written in the Kiera Hudson series.

I know I had.

But......!!!!! 

I am a mum and I ‘feel’ for the lost boy.

Tim gives us intermissions of the Jack Seth we know and a story within a story of Jack who like the best of the baddies we know of, they were all once a child.

What makes an evil person go from a little boy to a man that let the curse take him over and devour the good in that boy, the good in Jack, eat it up until there was nothing left but a shell of a character that thrived on evil and the despicable?

What does it take?

This story is chilling, emotional, you will ‘feel’ at times different towards Jack, you can’t help it, there will be gore.

By the time you have finished this, you will be banging on Tim’s facebook door wanting Dead Water and no doubt you will be like me and left a bit like one of Tim’s statues.

The ‘Tim Factor’ is ever present, and you will be shocked. I can say no more as always in Tim’s books, he is becoming quite the Master of Deceit and he will twist you into a knot. 

I must mention the brilliant cover. It does grab your attention, Jack Seth with Kiera in his clutches. This cover does evoke feelings in the viewer. It definitely has a 3D 'feel' to it for me. Miss Suzi Midnight cover designer has done it again.

Rachel Deagan has written a great werewolf story. I really enjoyed  all her characters, both main and subcharacters.

Liam , the male lead, I really liked him. I loved the way he would put his head on the side, very animalistic. It is pretty clear to the reader what Liam and his buddies are early into the story. I enjoyed the playfulness of Byron, the twins Flynt and Eldridge and the little guy, Steve. I think the mystery lies in Charlotte. Rachel has written her tale with a little bit of a twist and I liked it.

Charlotte and her father are moving to Maplefield. We don't meet Charlotte's mum in this book we only meet her father who is now Maplefield's newest doctor. 

Charlotte doesn't know who to trust, she wants to trust Liam, the guy she met at the campsite she stayed, with her father , but there are some missing pieces, so she and Ty go all Nancy Drew in their endeavour to find some answers. Charlotte can't shake feeling watched...... paranoia? 

Taylor Jacobs aka Ty is a great new bff to Charlotte. Charlotte likes to keep to herself , she is still reliving in her mind an attack by a dog  who bit her when she was five. Ty is good for Charlotte, but I was intrigued by Ty's necklace. 

Charlotte has a great sense of smell and some things just aren't adding up, especially when Liam is around. Liam is a gorgeous , caring guy who has this immediate attraction to Charlotte. I think even he was trying to make sense of it. Why did he feel so drawn to her? Charlotte was sending mixed signals to him and she didn't even  know it.

I am intrigued to see where Rachel takes this series. Liam and his pack are a great bunch of characters and they all love Charlotte. Rachel has definitely ended this book with a whole new direction .

I enjoyed ALL the character's , I haven't mentioned them, for that would be spoiling, but I am interested to read more about a certain character.

“Here it is,” I said. “This is the book.”

“What book?” a male voice said.

My head shot up. Prickles of goose bumps rose on the back of my neck as I met an intense blue gaze bearing down at me. He stood, leaning on the door jam, in a way that oddly reminded me of Liam. He appeared about the same age and build too, but instead of Liam’s ashy blond hair, he had auburn.

It took a moment for my mind to connect with my body, and I shoved the book behind my back “What are you doing here?” I asked, wincing at how stupid that sounded.

The corner of his mouth lifted into a grin. “I should be asking you that,” he said. “You’re breaking and entering. Perhaps I should call the cops.” He reached into his back pocket, pulling out his cell phone.

“No, no,” I said, taking a step towards him. He seemed pleased by my newfound hysteria, and put the phone away.

“Why are you here?” he asked, again. His focus flicked to Ty, and then back at me. Hands in his pockets, he pushed himself up off the door jam, moving towards me. The muscles of his shoulders flexed taut under his thin t-shirt and he rolled them, tilting his head to the side.

“She’s friends with Liam,” Ty said.

Inside I winced with horror. Liam didn’t want people to know I knew about him. He said it was dangerous. My chest felt constricted. His face looked like stone.

“What’s with the book?” he asked.

“It…it’s nothing,” I said. My fingers clutched the leather so hard I could feel the painful pinch of my nails biting into its flesh.

He took another step towards me. “Then what’s behind your back?”

I contemplated denying the fact that I held it there, but it seemed pointless. “Just something for a homework assignment that Liam was helping me with.” I prayed I didn’t look as sickly as I felt.

“I wasn’t aware Liam went to school,” he said. A coy smile lifted to his mouth.

“Oh, he doesn’t. It was for me. I go to school. He just said I could borrow it.” I needed to shut up. Seriously. A pin could have dropped and I would have screamed. Where was Ty?

“Can I see it?” he asked.

“No.” I swallowed hard.

“Why not?”

My heart pounded in my ears. “Because it’s not yours.”

For all the things I cannot say in my review, for fear of spoiling, I can say my fave quotes without saying who said them.

All I will say is Tim has a MAJOR TOUCH DOWN with this little novella. It screams genius with what he has done in it. Some may understand more than others as he has done something clever in his writing.....but I can’t say as it is early days!

Yes, that is Potter’s ex girlfriend Sophie, draped all over Potter on the book cover. Stunning, beautiful with a body that any guy would worship, not to mention her looks. I was very nervous when I saw this cover. I was like, what is Tim up to? Nothing surprises me....*cough* with Tim’s writing. He is very unpredictable. Which technically means, I get surprised a lot..so I think that is a confusing statement..ha!

I loved we got to know Sophie in this novella. We get into both Sophie and Potter’s heads. I wanted to not like Sophie, but I absolutely loved her. In a way she has Potter’s snark. I hope she sticks around..........?? I think she would be a lot of fun. 

See, how hard it is writing this review...I have to keep pulling on the brake. I have to admit I did see an awesome plot idea when reading this novella, would be hilarious...but...who knows where Tim will go? I just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Awww.....Potter is/was/is??? a romantic under all that cranky......bless.

I bow down, I worship the parts of this book that made me jump up and down and send emails to Tim. 

Tim had me grinning from ear to ear with his writing, I was laughing out loud, I was yelling at the computer screen....ewwwww...he does love his gorey icky bits too, they literally drip from the pages.

But, that is Tim, and that is why we come back over and over to read his next instalments. For the life of me I cannot understand why this series has not been snatched up by a publisher.....one of the wonders of the world..hehe!

I am rather chuffed that I got me a dedication, I am Michelle Auricht, I am not bragging, I just love Tim did that. I have adored Potter from the start, I saw his potential when some thought him a jerk, I always knew he was going to make me laugh out loud, sometimes to the point that the Mutley laugh would take over.

I love how much Tim truly cares about all his fans. Tim has listed all the fans that put their name down on his FB page in the front of the book. I love that Lynda his wife got the spotlight shone on her, aka the ‘Hacker’. I always tell Tim that a woman is always right....hehe!! Well done ‘Hacker’, I so want some outtakes. 

I'm like Precious from Lord Of The Rings.....I'm all bug eyed and grabby, grabby for the next installment, my fingers are wiggling, wanting........no pressure Tim..hehe!

She raised her hand as if to strike me again, and I snatched hold of her fist. “Once is enough, sweetheart.”




“I couldn’t give a monkey’s toss if she looked like the Elephant Man and had an arse the size of King Kong – although she does have the sweetest cheeks I’ve ever seen.

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

What can I say but Tim has done it again. I am left reeling from his latest instalment in the Kiera Hudson series. I get a total brain gymnastics workout when I read his books. He just pulls these crazy curveballs on the reader. I am trying to think ahead and work out where he is taking me. The specialty of this book that I am stumped on is the statues. Oh yes, I have this list of possibilities of WT? he is doing with them. He is so clever with all his original ideas he weaves through his storyline.  

I love the direction Tim is taking this second series in. It’s fresh, and to be truthful, who knows really where he is going with it as he just keeps deceiving the reader, hence the brain gymnastics. But I know enough to know that ......... ( well if I told you, it would spoil) and that.............. and then...............!

The gang are back at Hallowed Manor and they are all a bit out of sorts from where Vampire Hollows left them.

Tim has such wonderful imagination and what he does with his world building, such an original , creative idea. I loved all the ‘things’ that changed. Some had me laughing at the cleverness of the name. I am being a bit cryptic here, but I want you to read it fresh like I did.

You will get a little *sniff* ,pass the tissue, with the hollow feeling that is left with Murphy gone. Betrayal has left Potter showing how lost he is. His two friends.....gone. The love he felt for Luke has been stripped away from him, his heart shredded.

A little difference with this book is , Kiera and Kayla are sharing this book. The story splits off and we are watching both of them do their thing. 

Kayla has become this little dynamo, taking on the danger and getting a bit potty mouthed like Potter. Well, she has a good teacher..hehe!!

Isidor...I like to call him Isi ( sounds cute) , he is just so darn loveable , there are some BOL! moments with the banter between Potter and Isi. They are just hilarious when they get going at each other. I did have a fave scene that had me giggling. I’ll give you a hint....”I’ll be back.” 

There is a rather delicious description of Isi. I sooo want a piece of wallpaper with a visual of Isi. I think he could win a few fans, just on that description. Piercings, tatts, the hair, the muscles and for some a motorbike goes a long way to smexi value, Isi has his crossbow, not to mention the wings. He is a little naive, but that is what makes him a fun and loveable character to read. He is a fighter and loyal and he is starting to give some lip back to Potter..ha!

Now to Potter, my cranky pants that I love, well, he is a bit quieter in the first third of the book. He is a bit sad and not sure what to do with himself. Potter needs a fight, it’s his thing battling, instead he is raking leaves and feeling a bit sad....poor lovey. But then * waggles eyebrows* we all know what the Summer House does to Potter.

Tim has created a different world for him to play in with his characters. He has even brought in some new young blood. I LOVE Sam, he has this innocence, but at the same time he is a cluey lad. 

Tim as always has such fun with his action / fight scenes. Bit of music playing in background, quite a good musical number to be flinging bodies about to.

So much is happening in this instalment, never a dull, quiet moment. Murder, mayhem, LOL moments, sadness, blood ( there will always be messy times) , curveballs, mystery, odd things are happening , rat houses, Ravenwood School, creepy hooded people, sizzle sticks ( ah yes, there will be some zapping) dreams/visions, smexi ( gotta love a bit of Potter smexi) and that is all I will tell you.....trust me there is more.......... and the ending ???

I highly recommend as always Tim’s books. You get to have a crazy good time reading them, with little you will see coming.

This was a most wonderful read. I totally enjoyed every part of this book. I have always shied away from things to do with the Titanic, more from the fear of being on a ship and it going down. Also just knowing the Titanic was a real ship, a real story about real people who lost their lives, to drown, what a horrible way to die and not being able to save yourself. Men being told they had to leave their families and basically await their death as the ship went down. Well you get now why I have shied away from even seeing Titanic the movie with Leo and Kate. Just a sad , real story. Knowing the outcome is rather heart breaking.


Well, I loved this book and it’s as close as I have come to voluntarily picking up something to read that talks about the Titanic.


I knew I would love this book as I do love Claudia’s writing. I loved all her character’s in ‘Evernight’ series and am looking forward to ‘Balthazar’..... dang that boy needed a book and I got my wish.


......Back to ‘Fateful’.


The story within these pages doesn’t focus on the Titanic, infact , sometimes I even forgot I was on the Titanic. It is the story of a maid, Tess Davies and the people she comes into contact with on the ship and how they affect her.


Tess’ troubles start even before she gets onto the ship. She is a very intelligent, patient, strong character, and is thrown into this hide and seek game with Mikhail.


Mikhail is a rather unsavoury character who taunts Tess , she is a means to an end for what he has come on board for. His ability to taunt her and try to get at her ends up a bonus, he wants to hurt her, he is a werewolf , a killer.


Alec Marlowe is a swoon worthy character of first class means and the son of Howard Marlowe of Marlowe’s Steele. Tess is a maid of third class means and they make a connection. A trust is formed between them and a love. Class doesn’t stand in their way. Guilt does.

Admittedly it was a quick love, but if this is a stand alone book, well it had to be. No dragging it out over a series.


I really liked Myriam and her strength of character, she was very determined to get to America and make something of her life, meeting George was a wonderful thing for her on the Titanic.

The voyage was such a hopeful trip for Myriam, Tess and the families that wanted a better life.


Claudia gets the reader emotionally by getting us to meet some of the passengers on the Titanic...and we know why....* Kleenex, blows nose* .


I was even getting a bit anxious reading as some chapters have the dates and you know you are getting close to D-Day.


For a while you can forget what happens on the Titanic on that fateful day in 1912. Claudia has us following Tess around with her getting into trouble with Lady Regina and staying away and alive from Mikhail and learning that first class people also have skeletons in their closets.

We spend some time in third class with the warm and friendlies who are making a racket with their singing and dancing, kids playing, all very lively. But then those chapters get closer to that day in 1912.

The weather gets colder......

You can’t help feeling sad for what is inevitable.


I did wonder if this was going to be a series, even though I knew it wasn’t as Claudia wrote the ending like maybe it could go on. I think I want it to continue as I loved Alec. I do feel like there is a series here. Just on land now. The Brotherhood has me intrigued, Myriam is a great character, a great friend and the whole werewolf thing. Who knows Claudia may......I am satisfied if it’s stand alone, but I do hear a series calling. I want to know about Uncle Humphreys and Viscount Lisle and the why of what was in the box, there is history there * waggles eyebrows*.

Kait’s writing first came to my attention via Goodreads and I got to read her first novella in the Mirus series, ‘Forsaken By Shadow’, which I enjoyed. Kait contacted me about reading ‘Red’. I checked out the trailer and thought hmmm sounds like a take on ‘Little Red Riding Hood’, just my personal first thought. If you listen carefully to the narrator , it was a long, long time ago, Little Red Riding Hood fell in love with the wolf. This is the story of the repercussion of that event and what Elodie and her father are dealing with, now. 

I found myself easily turning the pages , this book has action, violence, a gorgeous chemistry , betrayal, discovery, loss, understanding and love.


Elodie has her own personal anguish to deal with and Sawyer happens to be there interrupting a moment that could have gone either way.

‘Red’ is told from both, Elodie and Sawyer’s POV’s. I enjoyed being in Sawyer’s head. I love Sawyer’s name and his character. I loved the way Kait made the reader feel the pull of Elodie and Sawyer’s chemistry. It felt very natural. They calm each other in a way that Elodie doesn’t understand, she just ‘feels’ better when Sawyer is with her. Sawyer is starting to realise there is more to Elodie. Could they have something in common?

The Barbie Squad are your typical pains in the ass , with their leader Amber , more so. You just want to give that girl a good slap. She is a thorn in Elodie’s side.


A little girl and her arrogant brother are kidnapped and Elodie is there to pitch in and help find them. He may be the jerk that caused her a lot of issues with Amber, but she knows the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. Something is very off with this turn of events and Elodie is starting to feel like maybe she is being baited to be flushed out.


Elodie is trying to keep her wolf at bay , the transition is close , what will this mean for her, will she have to do what her mother did to stop the curse? She feels so alone with what she is dealing with, believing there is only one way to cure here cursed life.

Help and understanding is closer than she thinks.....

Thwack ! Thwack! Thwack! .....I’m imagining a certain person and family getting a thwacking from me.... well they all deserve a good thwacking...

Lots more shenanigans going on in ‘Blameless’, no homing pigeons needed just look for Fatty , ladybugs abound, Lord Maccon is rather pickled and Professor Lyall has his hands full babysitting a broken heart. Emmet Wilberforce Bootbottle – Fipps has a message and Madame Lefoux and her mustache take a liberty. There’s a bit of swarming going on and Biffy is in a bit of bother. Mudslinging is a nasty business that would be dealt with best head held high, whilst controlling an epileptic pink hat box.


The infant, inconvenience, is well, being inconvenient, whilst its father is downing formaldehyde and crunchy bits, singing bad Opera and being rather a nuisance to Randolph. Word has got around and a challenge has been sort for the title of Alpha that poor Randolph must protect, whilst solving the conundrums that are popping up, left , right and centre. Cravats are in need of straightening and Lord Akeldama is nowhere to be found.


Magpie is left in charge with a new fashion garnering attention and a craving for pesto is a must and bloomer showing Ornithopter seating can’t be helped.


The female specimen is well..a specimen that some nightgown embroidered wearing Italians need observed, ya!

Vampires are in a tizzy being rather insistent , whilst a masked rescuer who is sometimes a hairy beasty, slips in and out of diabolical situations in the name of keeping Alexia and co safe.


When one finally comes to their senses, will it be too late.....?

I can't wait for 'Heartless' to arrive in the mail. I just adore this series as it is a lot of fun to read, just a great time had with all the characters and their personalities.

I think loyal to the core, dependable Professor Lyall needs a vacation after his efforts in 'Blameless'.

BOOK REVIEW:


I must start by saying what positively priceless character names, Ms Gail uses in her books. After that rather classic introduction to Major Channing Channing of the Chesterfield Channings , ( I just like to say his name over and over..hee..hee.), ‘Changeless’ just got better and better. Alexia never one to back down had Tunstell ready to enact a swoon...Ha!... and Major Channing Channing of the Chesterfield Channings ( it just rolls off the tongue) ready to..... well .... I’m not sure truly what he was about to do...but it wasn’t going to be earning him any brownie points with Lord Maccon. I tell you what though that Parasol comes in mighty handy for ‘thwacking’....Ha!


Ms Gail made me laugh many times with her characters. Biffy of the frivolous persuasion, always seems to be around when Lord Maccon is in need of clothing..lol!.. and I think a tad reluctant to oblige him.


I love Madame Lefoux , a new character, she adds a wonderful side dish to the book and someone Lord Akeldama has not been privy to an introduction... this simply must be rectified.


A visit from Alexia’s mama, a bit of discombobulating later and she found herself with Felicity in her charge.


There is a bit of a mystery underfoot that needs Lord Maccon to dash off to Scotland with not so much as a word to Alexia except to go to a Hat shop , leaving her to take matters into her own hands and follow in hot pursuit..afloat a dirigible. ( I did have to google that one).


Oh the shinnanigans on the dirigible with Madame Lefoux, Miss Hisselpenny, Tunstell ( chaperoning of the ladies, highly necessary) , Felicity ( rolls eyes) and Angelique .


Upon arriving in Scotland , Castle Kingair makes for dusty accommodations and unrest amongst the alphaless Kingair pack in residence.


There is a whole bunch of snooping, shooting, canoodling and ...well ....somebody * raises eyebrow* needed a good thwacking with a certain parasol.......*shakes head*.


I highly recommend having all books available ready to read one after the other as once you finish Changeless, you are going to be grabbing for Blameless, if you don’t have it ready to crack open, don’t say I didn’t warn you because the ending is a corker.

What a funny, witty tale about a half Italian spinster named Alexia Tarabotti ..... her parasol.... werewolves, vampires , steamy advances including neck nibbling.... * waggles eyebrows* . Throw in a rather flamboyant rove vampire with a fashion sense to outshine the cleverest Parisian designer, Biffy and some well built Lord Akeldama worshipping dandies, a scientist or two... a plump Queen of the Westminster Hive , a professor, a dash of steampunk and a rather embarrassing family and you have a cleverly written story. Gail had me laughing out loud, smiling a great deal and fanning myself at the very Scottish, Lord Conall Maccon, Earl of Woolsey.


I did chuckle out loud when Lord Maccon swore, behaved in a most serious manner around Alexia and quite frankly felt he needed to sit her upon his lap on more than one occasion. HA!


The supporting characters were so much fun . Floote is a must have. I want a butler like him, he is more proficient than Alfred attending to Batman. To have a knowledgeable friend like Lord Akeldama, he was such fun to be around and Professor Lyall, Lord Maccon’s Beta was a fitting second to his Alpha.....after all a Beta has to be able to be forthright and tell his Alpha when he is in need of grovelling.


Alexia Tarabotti is just one of the most intelligent, witty and brave, never dull for one moment female characters. Her banter and forwardness with Lord Maccon, only she could get away with talking to the Alpha like she did. Alexia was never one to shy away from her opinion. They are one of my favourite couplings.


I am looking forward to opening up Changeless and finding out what they are up to.


‘Soulless’ is a most deliciously entertaining read that I highly recommend. I did find getting into the swing of Carriger’s writing style a tad different, at first read. After a couple chapters I was totally immersed in her writing style and looking forward to reading the whole series. ‘Soulless’ was a book to be read in the manner it was intended, a humorous read with a tad of darkness and strong characters with amusing dialogue. She kept with the sensibilities of the era but allowed her characters to roam a bit freer, allowing them to stand out. I can only assume that Gail Carriger has a most humorous personality that has flowed over into her writing. What fun , laughter filled days she must have writing her stories.

“You mean like whack you upside the noggin with that deadly parasol of hers? ......

Lord Maccon looked petulant. “ I mean like attempt to talk to me, or perhaps not talk at all but simply drag me off somewhere....”





“Hello, princess,” said Lord Maccon to the vampire.

“Got yourself into quite a pickle this time, didn’t you?”

Lord Akeldama looked him up and down. ‘My sweet young naked boy, you are hardly one to talk. Not that I mind, of course.”
