Head of vampire security Lee Goram has hated and distrusted humans for centuries. Lee closed the gap between them. An awareness of warmth and clean sweat cut through the anxious confusion his last statement had injected into her stomach. “Frankly, it’s safer here,” he said. “I’d leave you if I could. However, I’ve received word Isabel is having contractions and insists on having her birth coach.” The wave of his hand conveyed his apparent belief that such an idea was preposterous.

Alexia stepped close, craning her neck to meet his arrogant stare. “What, you think the queen’s birth coach isn't a priority?”

Lee’s large hand rubbed his forehead like it ached. “In my youth, females gave birth. No birthing tub, no special class, no self-hypnosis CDs, no coach.”

What. A phenomenal dick. “Excuse me.” She poked a finger that was supposed to jab into his chest, but anger and her refusal to break eye contact effed up her aim. She ended up poking at the firm, fine muscles of his belly. Pride kept the finger in place as if the landing had been intentional. “First of all, no uterus, no opinion. Second, Isabel got completely fried this morning, so it’s kind of a special circumstance. Third, quit being an asshole. Fourth? Quit being an asshole.”

It bore repeating.

“Fifth, Isabel’s the queen. She can request whatever the hell she wants.”

Lee dipped his chin. “Yes.” His fingers closed around the one still sunk into his abs and pulled it aside. “She can. So. In spite of the fact that we may have an insane plague-spreading nutcase bearing down on us at any given moment, it’s royal baby time. Let’s move.”
Again… What the fuck?

She opened her mouth but Lee pulled her forward before she could speak. Alexia ignored the tremor that traveled from the place where their hands touched, along her arm and down her body, landing a quiver of want deep in her core. Any time now, it would be fan-fricking-tastic if her body could stop reacting to him like he’d been double-dipped in her favorite brand of pheromones.

She reached for her blue JanSport backpack, just next to the bedroom door. He made no move to let go or get out of her way, and she was forced to squeeze past his tree-trunk thigh in the process. She failed horribly at ignoring how frigging huge those legs of his were. How the vee of her thighs brushed his leg when she passed, and how her body temperature climbed. Stop staring at his ass. “Right. Got everything ready to go, right here.” She cleared her throat.
“Great. I’ll drive,” he grumbled.

Did he realize, as he tugged her down the hall, that his fingers were still wrapped around her hand?

EXTRA EXCERPT

She leaned close to avoid being heard by all the sensitive ears in the room. “We’re out of the literal and metaphorical woods. You can get blood from anyone. I thought drinking human blood was, like, worse than licking bat guano off a wizard’s shoe.”

The softness of his laugh shimmied straight down her spine. Dear merciful Lord. “I don’t claim to understand.” His lips feathered against her ear. “In the cave, the pain abated when I drank from you.” He pushed closer, his breath soft and hot. “Nothing has eased it in a long time. No one. Whatever this… problem… is, drinking from you eased the pain. It’s the one thing I know for certain."

Oh, hell. Only her blood? Talk about making a gal melt in the weirdest way possible. She wanted to be all snarky and make him beg or apologize or something, but fuckballs, that was the most beautiful thing ever. Besides, she wanted to ease his hurt more than she wanted to get even.

Alexia glanced around and pulled him into an empty room next to the nurse’s station. To be safe, she locked the door and pulled the curtain thingy. Two comfy chairs sat by the hospital bed. She tugged one close and offered her wrist. It seemed the fastest way, and this was urgent.

The strike of his fangs hardly surprised her this time. Much like a tattoo or a piercing, you got used to the pinch. Isabel had drunk from her a few times when they’d first become friends, but that had been different. That hadn’t been a two-hundred-and-whatever-pound vampire male in a desperate amount of pain.

Oh, holy… Wow.

The relief was amazing. Fireworks and dynamite. The pressure flowed out of her along with the blood. What rushed in to take its place, though, was a disturbing sense of rightness. In giving herself to him in a way she had never wanted to give to anyone. Somehow her other arm wound around his neck, and either he didn’t notice or he didn’t actually mind. It’s just the blood, like he said before.

But then his fingers crept into her hair. Her body slid down into the large, comfy chair. Lee pressed closer, on his knees now in front of her, her arm held aloft by his efforts as he lapped at her wrist. His tongue trailed down her arm to catch a wayward drip. On his knees with his long legs, Lee’s pelvis pressed against hers through their pants, his erection hard and thick and throwing off heat.

Alexia couldn't stop herself from wrapping her legs around his waist and bringing him closer. Her hand grasped his free arm, which had moved from the chair to her leg. Their fingers laced together.

Lee’s groan vibrated against her wrist.

A knock sounded at the door.

BLOG TOUR & GIVEAWAY - ONE WEEK by ELISABETH STAAB - HALESTORM # 1 - ADULT CONTEMPORAY CORPORATE ROMANCE

One Week
(HaleStorm Series, bk #1)
By Elisabeth Staab

HE HAS A LEGACY TO SAVE…

Michael Hale's company is in jeopardy. In the wake of his father's death and transitioning to CEO, projects are circling the drain and that may cost him everything. Come to find out, the consultant hired to fix things is the "one who got away" many years ago. This time he's playing for keeps, and he intends to win.

SHE SHOULD NEVER SAY NEVER…

Elise Jackson swore she wouldn't come near Michael Hale again. He sucker punched her professionally, and he broke her heart. Still, a job’s a job, and they can both be adults. But high emotion and late nights working lead to passion neither of them can deny.

They have one week. Can the two of them pull Michael's company out of the fire and heal their old wounds?

Available for purchase at

“I should have looked for you.” He wrapped his arms around her and groaned aloud at the warmth and softness of her skin against his. The rough texture of her nipples against his chest, the dampness of her hair on his shoulder. “Just touching you makes me crazy. My God, Elise. I should have known. Fuck, I did know, and I ignored it. I’m so goddamned stupid.”

“You’re not stupid.”

“I am stupid.” Michael gripped her hips—fucking luscious, curvy hips—and ran his hands up that amazing hourglass arc in her waist and over her shoulders, reveling in the magic of Elise’s hands giving him the same treatment. “I’m stupid because I thought I could push you away all those years ago and I’d forget and find someone else who turned me on as much as your hand bumping my knee under a cubicle desk. Christ, I tried to tell myself it was all innocent, but I lived for every second.”

“Oh my God.” Elise’s eyes flew wide, her cheeks flushed in the low light of her bedroom. “I had no idea.”

“You must have, if you gathered up the nerve to kiss me.” He bent her back, one hand braced between her shoulders, the other gripping her ass, trailing kisses along her jaw. Their only-for-tonight agreement be damned, already he didn’t want to let her go.

“I hoped.” She gripped his shoulders, smiling. “If I’m being honest, all that accidentally bumping your knee wasn't so much an accident.”

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

By: Elisabeth Staab
Published By: Elisabeth Staab
Released : Available Now
Details: Digital for honest review, 220 Pages

RATING: 3.5 CORPORATE ROMANCE STARS

I have really enjoyed Elisabeth’s Chronicles of Yavn, paranormal series. Now, Elisabeth has written an Adult Contemporary Corporate Romance.

One Week is the first installment in the Halestorm Series.

I’ve got to say , Elise kept surprising me with what appears quite a clean cut appearance at first, but then...she is full of surprises.

Michael Hale and Elise Jackson go back five years. She was an intern and only twenty one years old, he was thirty. A kiss lead to Elise feeling rejected and she hoped to never see Michael again.

Five years later she finds herself contracted to Halestorm and Michael is now heading the company and all its problems.

This is a story with sabotage on the menu. I have to admit, I thought I had the villain pegged, but I did not. I liked that Elisabeth gave me several possibilities.

Good job.

I did laugh out loud at Elise who is so organized and efficient, being a little low on ...err...clean clothes.

This was a quick read. I would have loved a bit more depth to the characters and plot. I did get a little brain muddled with the corporate office talk. That would be my fault as I have not been in an office in a very long time.

I really liked Elise’s little quirky purple stationary fetish and her roommate Jeff, the go go dancer. He was a bit of sidekick fun injected into the story.

An enjoyable corporate romance read from the lovely Elisabeth.

BLOG TOUR # 60 - INTERVIEW WITH ELISABETH STAAB AUTHOR OF CHRONICLES OF YAVN SERIES - KING OF DARKNESS & PRINCE OF POWER - SOURCE BOOKS

I would like to welcome Elisabeth Staab to Novels On The Run , author of Chronicles Of Yavn Series. King of Darkness # 1 and Prince of Power # 2, published by Source Books.

Michelle:  Hi Elisabeth, thanks for taking the time to answer my Q & A’s , much appreciated.

Elisabeth: Absolutely! So happy to be here, thank you.

Michelle:   What 10 words describe Elisabeth the author?

Elisabeth:  Hmm... Dark, humorous, caffeinated, twisted, visceral, tangible, detail-oriented, profane. And, well... romantic.

Michelle:   I am really enjoying where you are taking me in the Chronicles of Yavn series. I have polished off book # 2, Prince of Power. I am a rather huge Lee fan and Xander just makes me want to give him a hug. Prince of Power releases 8th January 2013. Do you have a working title for book 3 and is there a possible non spoiler quote ( no names necessary) that you could give us as a teaser, please? If not, no worries.

Elisabeth:  Thank you so much, I’m thrilled you’re enjoying the series! The working title for Lee and Alexia’s book  is Hunter by Night book # 3.

I usually shy away from teasers this early, but I think I can give you one tiny quote: “I told you to fight!”

Awesome so somebody needs to fight......* happy dance* Love the title and it's Lee and Alexia's book....woot!

Michelle:   Speaking of Lee, there is just something that grabs me with him. I have had a bit of a crush on him from the start. I can’t wait for a possible cover visual. I know you have playlists. Do you have a song that describes Lee?

Elisabeth:  There is something about Lee, isn’t there? When he wants something even *I* have a hard time saying no. Interestingly, when I started writing King of Darkness, Thad was the first character I saw. Standing in the middle of that crowded rave, looking determined but confused, searching for Isabel. But... Lee was the first vampire I heard speak. He had my attention right away! I love Thad because he’s got a lot of beta in him and that softness inside of a hero can be SO sexy in its own way, but Lee has a heavy dose of badass motherfucker, and that too is terribly sexy. It may also be his undoing.

As for music, if I had to pick only one song for Lee, it would be “Clumsy” by Our Lady Peace. This song for me evokes dark angsty feelings, someone watching a person they care for going through a problem but unable to reach out and help. And I like the line in chorus, “you will be safe in here,” because more than anything Lee wants to protect . Most of all he wants to protect Alexia, even if that’s impossible for him to admit.

Michelle:   Xander is emotionally in a lot of pain through the first two books. I really love reading his scenes and how he is dealing with his loss. Or not dealing. I like what you are doing with the other character that you have slid into his life via mutual loss. It works very well. Pulls the heart strings. Is Xander easy to write?

Elisabeth:  NOooooooo. Xander has been a wonderful challenge. His character in King of Darkness plays a very small role. In Prince of Power, his story line took an unplanned turn. A beautiful turn, a turn that I think will result in a lovely outcome when the time is right, but Xander and Theresa have a rough row to hoe yet. Writing his story has been painful. At times while writing about the loss of his mate I was surprised to catch myself crying.

I can see that as ...well Xander and Theresa have lost a lot.

Michelle:   Siddoh! He grew on me by the end of King of Darkness. I LOVE him in Prince of Power. I love he has this big brother thing going on with Alexia. Now I gathered Hugh Jackman was your muse for Siddoh...nice one! That sits rather pleasantly in my visual. Siddoh is a bit of a lad, General to King Thad. He seems like the more playful of the guys. Likes the ladies, a few drinks, likes the ladies..... You are showing us a different side with him and Alexia. He is protective and treats her like a buddy. You aren’t aiming to peeve Lee off are you?

Elisabeth:  Gun to my head, if I had to pick an absolute favourite hero it would be Siddoh. I loved Siddoh almost from the beginning, and I love him more and more the better I get to know him. He’s deeper than he lets on. Misunderstood. You’ll see new facets to him in book three. And yes, he’s scruffy. He’s not good about keeping himself trimmed regularly like the soldiers are supposed to, but gets away with it because he’s still so good at what he does.

And am I aiming to piss off Lee? No. But Lee gets pissed plenty under that still exterior. However, I think there’s a chance we’ll see Lee and Siddoh’s relationship change a bit after Prince of Power.

Michelle:   I am looking forward to seeing what you are doing with Alexia. You have hinted at a few things in Prince of Power with her character and her tattoos. I have my pom poms out for Lee and Alexia. I am assuming it won’t be an easy road? Not like Thad and his tattoo detecting Queen ...err....tattoo.

Elisabeth:  LOL. Well every good romance couple has baggage. In King of Darkness, the story may have been one of fated mates but the baggage was that neither Thad nor Isabel felt worthy of each other or of the responsibilities that being together would bring. For Lee and Alexia there’s an interesting push-pull: they simultaneously want and despise each other, and there’s a whole mess of other stuff that builds on those issues: Lee doesn’t just dislike humans, he sees them as inferior. Alexia can’t stand being “caged” by the vampires because they don’t trust her to mingle freely with her own kind. There’s deep pain in their pasts of course, and so on.

Michelle:   What song would you use to describe Alexia?

Elisabeth:  The first song that comes to mind for Alexia alone is “Titanium” – David Guetta feat. Sia. She’s very fierce for a small member of an “inferior” species.

I like this!!

Michelle:   I would like to ask Lee: What five words would he use to describe Siddoh?

Lee:  Cocky. Fucking. Asshole.

Elisabeth:  Lee feels that he has used enough words.

Michelle:   I would like to ask Siddoh : What five words would he use to describe Lee?

Elisabeth:  Siddoh would probably stop at grinning and giving Lee the finger, because it would irritate Lee far more than anything he could say aloud. Vampires of few words, those two.

Michelle:  You teamed Tyra up with a character who is not a killer by choice. He would if it meant her safety and if he had no other choice. Tyra is a kickass chick and a trained soldier in her own right. She helps out at the Ashfalls Shelter. You have balanced out her kickass character with a softness, a caring side. What made you choose a couple where the male was not inclined to want to kill, a kind of reverse pairing?

Elisabeth:  Well for one thing it’s just not done in romance very often, and writers are always looking to do something a little different. Paranormal romance in particular is full of growly-alpha males, and God bless every one of them, but a male with a softer side can also be very sexy. Still, choosing Anton and Tyra for each other wasn’t completely conscious. Sometimes in plotting a book a pairing is created with a certain amount of strategy. “Oh, these two will make sense together because...” But Anton told me Tyra was his from the first scene in King of Darkness when he was waiting to be tortured for failing to kidnap her. Everything that unfolded moved them together even though their pairing didn’t immediately make sense. My basic premise for the Yavn world is vampires = good and wizards = unredeemable evil. When Anton showed up as the one lone exception he really gummed-up the works. But I am SO fond of a good forbidden romance, and the love story in Prince of Power—falling in love with a guy who’d helped murder your own kind?—that’s as forbidden as it gets.

Michelle:  You’ve got a bit of a possible crèche forming with each book. I like you doing this, bringing in mini bubba vamps. This will make for some funny scenes. I am sure it will make for some tense scenes too. Is there a possibility of more nappied bubbas joining the crèche in future books?

Elisabeth:   ... That is an excellent question!

I am all ears.....

Michelle:   I like that you use several character pov’s in each book. There is a main character the book is about, but you don’t hide the other characters away that have had their shot at the limelight. I like that! You have several burgeoning character stories going at once. It keeps the pages turning. Is it hard to juggle the several pov’s with their side stories on top of the main villain plot that is running through the series?

Elisabeth:  Thank you! And ohmygod, yes! I am still learning the ropes. King of Darkness was literally the first book I ever wrote and I think in hindsight it was probably overly-ambitious but I’m not sure what I would have done differently, either. I fell in love with series like Suzanne Brockmann’s Troubleshooters and Ward’s BDB = Black Dagger Brotherhood that also have those multi-thread plot arcs and multiple POVs. Those were the books that inspired me to write. I got a thrill out of seeing what was going on elsewhere in those characters’ worlds, so I set out to write something that would scratch the same itch for me as a reader. In a way King of Darkness was easier because it was book one. Prince of Power was a struggle because I’d never written a sequel, and suddenly all those multiple plot threads had to connect to keep going. Finally, book three, I feel like I’m getting the hang.

I have not heard of Suzanne's series...ooo straight on to the library reserve thingy ...but be still my heart with BDB, LOVE IT!!!! Suzanne's series is rather badass long.

Michelle:  The villains....the WIZARDS. I like this original villain character vs Vampires. The Wizards are a tad gorey with what they do to vampires to get their powers. You have given this part of the plot a bit of a curveball. I am looking forward to where you take us. These gorgeous, big, muscle, six pack toting vampire soldiers needed a worthy evil opponent. What made you choose Wizards? Harry Potter is getting a bit of a bad rap...lol!

Elisabeth:  Ha! Yes, my critique partner pointed that out, but unfortunately not until it was too late to change. I wasn’t thinking Harry Potter when I chose wizards, I was thinking like evil witches/wizards/mages. Like the evil queen in Snow White, but different. More hands-on, and male. That kind of wizard. I love Harry Potter. I hope/assume nobody would confuse my wizards with Harry. ;-)

Michelle:   How many books in the series thus far have you mapped out?

Elisabeth:  I’m still working on my master plan, lol! Certainly I would love to see more vampires get their HEA. We’ll have to see what the future brings.

Michelle:  Have you ever found a character description by people watching? I’m talking everyday watching, not Celebs. If so, what character?

Elisabeth: Oh, sure. I watch people all the time. I think many authors do. Actually Lucas, the tattoo artist in King of Darkness and Prince of Power, he’s based loosely on a very attractive young guy I saw one night outside an IHOP.

Oh so you were having a bit of an ogle and Lucas was born...nice one!

Michelle:  Which 4 people/characters alive or dead, would you invite to dinner and why? Go for it, they can be real people, from movies, books, politicians, whoever you want.

Elisabeth:  I only get four? Okay, Jenny Lawson, Damon Suede, Mary Calmes, and J.R. Ward. Jenny Lawson because she’s fucking hilarious and vulgar, she loves wine, and I value the company and insanity of a fellow author/mom. Damon and Mary are dear friends whose company, sense of humour, and brilliance I treasure but busy schedules and geography prevent face time. JR Ward, that’s kind of a given—I don’t know if I ever would have started writing were it not for her. And even though I almost never get tongue-tied, the one time I met J.R. Ward, I admit I totally froze like a dork. I feel like I should be picking people like Ghandi, Deepak Chopra, President Obama, Oprah... I’d love having dinner with those and many other amazing people too, but laughter and wine with dinner are the best things in the world.

Jenny Lawson, Damon Suede, Mary Calmes, J.R. Ward

Michelle:  Thankyou Elisabeth for joining me down under and answering my Q & A’s,  all the best with this series J

Elisabeth:  Thank you so much for having me, you’ve been awesome! So glad you enjoyed King of Darkness and Prince of Power!

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

If you like Black Dagger Brotherhood, then you are going to like the Chronicles of Yavn series. It’s still early days with this series. Prince Of Power is released on 8th January 2013. I love big characters who love as big as they soldier on, fighting for good against worthy villains. The Wizards are worthy villains. They know how to take down vampires.

I am really enjoying the different personalities of these big, muscle packed guys. The layers we start to see peel back. Sometimes the lines become blurred between ones enemy and ones friend, even lover.

Times are a changing.

King Thad must make exceptions to the rule and the pitch forks are out and sharpened. He is also finding time in his day to attend to his Queens pregnant needs, measure the right amount of milk for Isabel to coincide with his sleep pattern, win, win, and manage the throne to a whole pile of Wizard War issues.

Military buzz cut Lee, he just takes my heart and runs with it. Not quite sure at this stage why I have singled Lee out. He just sounds yummy. He is tough and has a wounded heart.

Xander is my next fave. The lad is also hurting and trying to cope with being the soldier he needs to be and the painful loss to his heart. I absolutely LOVEEEE what Elisabeth is doing with his character and another character, building possibly?? something between two broken hearts, two lost souls.

Anton and Tyra are trying to work out all the kinks that keep piling up between them. Brings a whole new meaning to sleeping with the enemy.

Siddoh is buddying up to Alexia. I really like Siddoh, he is such a normal guy when he is in buddy mode, but a killer when in General / Soldier mode.

I love Alexia. Some seeds were dropped in this instalment , I scooped them up . Me thinks Alexia has got a story to tell us. The real estate she has left on her skin may get covered up with some more tatts before all is revealed. Love Lucas. He is a rather cheeky vamp.

I don’t care what the guys think, I like Agnessa. She just did what guys do. Sure she has upset my big Lee, broke his heart into tiny pieces. She has made mistakes. I like the way she holds her head high, but, I know it must be hurting. I also don’t agree with what she did, but when you know more about Agnessa...well, let’s say temptation is a bitch.

The Wizarding cauldron ( or is that just witches?) has been stirred , I am looking forward to book 3 to find out where/what/how, all this new information that has come to light will play out.

What will the big wig villain, head honcho Wizard do with what he has learnt?

Twists, smexi lads, heart felt moments, a virginity is lost...with a smile, and some rules no longer apply, and evil just found out they have more options.

RATING: 4 THAD, LEE & SIDDOH STARS!!

Blurb: Goodreads

This first book in a hot, edgy, dark paranormal romance series from a debut author has all the right stuff: a deep urban fantasy feel, a take-no-crap tough heroine and a sexy, arrogant vampire king who gets his comeuppance.

Isabel Anthony has lived a carefree existence masquerading as human, but when this party-girl meets the king of vampires, her world turns deep, dark, and dangerous double-quick. Thad Morgan is looking for the prophesied mate who will unlock his powers. But when he finally finds Isabel in a seedy nightclub, he thinks fate must have gotten it wrong.

BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:

‘T’ aka Thad Morgan has recently inherited the role of King of the Vampires. His tattoo is heating up and sending him in the direction of Club Insomniac with Lee his right hand man as his protector. His tattoo, a crudely depicted cross on his forearm is signalling to him, pulsing when he is getting closer to his would be mate.

Lee and Thad come across ‘would be mate’ and find her tapping into the blood of a girl straddling her. Not the first thought to come to mind, but don’t judge a person by the position they are in. She could be into guys as well J

Of course she is!

Isabel Anthony is a self proclaimed party girl. Thad must now convince Isabel to be his Queen. Isabel feels she is definitely not Queen material. But is she? Does she even like Thad? I know daft question...well, he could have been a butt ugly King......lol!

Her roomie is a petite human named Alexia with a tribal tattoo around her left bicep passing over her shoulder. Siddoh and Alexia had a tattoo showing moment. I’ll show you mine if you show me yours.

There are a few storylines going on within this book. We meet Isabel and Thad. Lee the soldier who is bred for his power and size has had it rough with an ex mate and he appears to have a resisting thing for Alexia. I really like Lee. I think he is uber gorgeous.

Tyra, is Thad’s sister who works at the Ashfalls Interfaith Shelter, this ties in another storyline.

Anton is the son of the Master of Wizards. Daddy has got pissed off with Anton and wants him out of his life. Where does Anton wind up?

This bunch of characters and storyline has a definite Black Dagger Brotherhood feel to it.

The Wizards are the villains hunting the vampires down, eating their hearts to acquire their power. Of course you have a main honcho who is very unassuming in appearance , but oh so powerful.

Tyra and Siddoh have a bit of a sex only/no relationship, past , and Tyra wants/needs to move on.

I really like Siddoh. Hugh Jackman sounds like the inspiration for this character. Siddoh is the General to the King. At first I wasn’t sure about him, but by the end of this book, I really liked him. He is just a bit of a lad.

Lee is my favourite at the moment.

Thad is the reluctant King who decides it is time to act the part, throw on the big daddy King pants and wear the role like he should. He has to toughen up and get the respect his father earned as King, time to redecorate.

I enjoyed Elisabeth giving us a few storylines for further instalments in the series in this book. We have Thad and Isabel. A highly possible Lee and Alexia, a ‘very interesting to see how it plays out’, Tyra and ????

We are introduced to enough of the male characters to know that there will be a main story in a few books to come for each of them.

From wine shagging to ........... I like where this series is heading. The lads are all big humma, humma guys. We get hints of other lads we may get introduced to more, all big soldiers fighting the war against the Wizards, these lads for various reasons without mates. So yay, we get to read how they get the chickie babe. Plus fight the war .

A great start to this series that has left me wanting to know more..... and I shall, as I am reading Prince of Power next.

FAVE QUOTE:

...... "Maybe you can serve it to him wearing nothing but your best pearls and some strappy stilettos. After dinner, put on some sexy music, shove him down on the bed, and spank him like the bad, bad, boy that he is. Diana recoiled a bit. "Or , you know, whatever you feel moved to do."
