Reaper's Legacy is a raw and intensely erotic tale in Joanna Wylde's Reapers Motorcycle Club series.
Eight years ago, Sophie gave her heart-and her virginity-to Zach Barrett on a night that couldn't have been less romantic or more embarrassing. Zach's step-brother, a steely-muscled, tattooed biker named Ruger, caught them in the act, getting a peep show of Sophie he's never forgotten.
She may have lost her dignity that fateful night, but Sophie also gained something precious-her son Noah. Unfortunately, Zach's a deadbeat dad, leaving Ruger to be Noah's only male role model. When he discovers Sophie and his nephew living in near poverty, Ruger takes matters into his own hands-with the help of the Reapers Motorcycle Club-to give them a better life.
Living with outlaw bikers wasn't Sophie's plan for her son, but Ruger isn't giving her a choice. He'll be there for Noah, whether she wants him or not. But Sophie does want him, has always wanted him. Now she'll learn that taking a biker to bed can get a girl dirty in every way.
BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:
I am getting quite addicted to Joanna’s series and her very Alpha-caveman-possessive-dirty-dangerous, MC lads.
We meet Ruger, pronounced, Rooger, aka Jesse, but we like to use their MC names, because that’s their thing.
Sophie first meets Ruger when she’s being banged, cashing in her V-card by his step brother, Zach.
This guy was really tall, and muscular in the way men who work with their hands get from heavy lifting on the job.
He wore a black leather vest with patches over a ratty T-shirt and jeans that had streaks of dark motor oil or grease or something. A half rack of beer dangled from one hand. His hair was short and dark. Almost military. His lip was pierced and he wore two rings in his left ear and one in his right, like a pirate. Eyebrow was pierced, too. His features were bluntly handsome, but nobody would ever call him pretty.
Zach is an asshole. He plays the part well.
Fast forward eight years and Sophie and Ruger are throwing down smexual tension all over the place.
He is growly and loves little Noah. He is protective in his caveman way. He just wants his slice of cake and the rest of the pieces when he feels like it.
From day one, I can say with a clear conscience that there is nothin’-- not a fucking thing -- on this earth I wouldn’t do to protect him or you.”
Monogamy isn’t his thing.
Whoah there big guy!
Ruger was all lean and muscular, with a six-pack that tapered down nicely and biceps that were a work of art. Oh, wow . One of his nipples was pierced, too.
Sophie, I understand. She is a civilian. She knows MC clubs have a darker side to them and she has a son to protect. She has her heart to protect.
No matter how hard she fights it, Ruger and Sophie have a magnetic pull towards each other. She gets reeled in, and then she lets herself off the hook, only to be reeled in again.
“No, “ I whispered. “Aside from Noah, that’s the only part of those years I want to remember, because it was beautiful, Ruger. Whatever else happened, you gave me beautiful.”
I really appreciate how Joanna explains MC life and terms by sliding them into the storyline. It helps me really understand that this tribe of men, are not civillians, they are sexist to an extent, but it is their life. Their ways. They make no bones about it. It is what it is.
“I don’t understand...” I murmured, trying to wrap my head around his words.
“When a man takes a woman as his property, it’s not about owning her,” he continued, eyes searching my face. “It’s about trusting her. This is my life I’m handing you, Sophie. Not just my life-- my brother’s lives too. It mean I’m responsible for everything you do. You fuck up, I’ll pay. You need help, we’re there. You’re the only woman I’ve ever met that I’d consider giving that kind of power to. Hell, I’m not just considering it, I’m desperate for you to take it.”
The whores, are who they are. They know the rules. I do cringe, but that is what is inside a motorcycle club. They come with whores. It’s like this giant play pen for men. The unattached ones, well mostly the unattached club members, don’t have to use a pick up line, it is like an all-you-can-eat-buffet, just waiting for them to pick what they want.
Joanna feels like she has done much research into this life these men and women lead. She shows me more and more in each book, that it isn’t the life for me, but everybody loves somebody and in a motorcycle club, there are the rules you follow. They have a law unto their own, even in this day and age. A lot of these guys served their country and this is where they fit in.
Who they want to be.
I just have to get past the whole woman thing and whoring etc, but everybody who is a part of this world, understands what they are signing up for.
Ruger is fiercely protective of Sophie and Noah. He just has to not be a man whore. She is not down with that, nor would I be.
When Ruger is being smexi, whahhhhh, he is dynamite, when he is being an ass, he is being a dumb ass about what is good for the gander isn’t good for the goose. She gotta play by his rules.
I liked that the old ladys give Sophie advice, they seem like a lot of fun. They band together.
This is a rough, dangerous life that Joanna writes really well.
She drops some great seeds in this installment for Devil’s Game. I don’t even know how Em is going to get around that issue, cause it is a deal breaker.
Another smexi, dangerous page turner about a motorcycle club who look after their own, love and protect with a fierceness for their own, and lord help you if you are stupid enough to mess with them.
