By now I think everybody who frequents Novels On The Run, knows how much I lurrrvvee J.A. Huss’s writing.
I am a Hussy.
I get so excited to read one of her books, Come, is no exception.
J.A. can write novellas so , so , so well. You really do feel like you are reading a full length book.
I can guarantee you, when you pick up a J.A. Huss novella, you are always in for a ride. Money well spent. Once the ride is over, you are wanting to go again. She just has this knack for novellas.
Come, has us meeting Harper and James.
Why do you want me? I’m a kid.”
“You sure look all grown up to me.”
All is not what it seems.
Now, I can’t spoil, so I have to chat about how this novella made me feel.
I was intrigued. I got little twists. I got me some toe curling smexi.
YOWZER!!!
Harper is intriguing.
“Go away, Beautiful,” I whisper to the fading light. “You can’t see me. I’m invisible. You don’t want to know me. Because I’m no one. I’m zero.”
Seeds have been dropped for the next book, Come Back.
There is an Admiral, known as The Admiral.
James, is one of J.A.’s male characters who will blow you away. Ford and Spencer are her other couple characters that just, blew me away. She writes them so well.
James is no exception.
Mr. Beautiful is the kind of man everyone notices. Tall -- my chin only came up to his shoulders. Dark, yes. but with those brilliant green eyes, it made his brand of dark more exotic than most. And he was hard.
The book covers, since the Rook and Ronin spinoffs, have been so, eye catchingly smexi. The black and white and red, works so well.
Come was indeedy a dirty , dark and deadly read, I can’t wait to read more in this series.
When you start reading, what you will find is J.A. isn’t just going to lay it all out for you, she gives you more as you turn the pages, little twists, names, more seeds, sexual tension that oozes , demands, commands.
He growls into my neck. “Fuck, Harper. You’re driving me crazy. You gotta tell me what not to do, or I swear, I’ll do it all. I’ll just do it all.”
Who can be trusted?
Who is the target?
Who is the one holding all the cards?
I’m intrigued. This was a stimulating read for me, because I always like to theorize when I read one of J.A.’s books.
Everyone has a place. Everyone has a code. There are thousands of members all over the world. Most are innocuous. Verbs like mine. Come. Dance. Ride. Skip. They’re endless.
The higher-ups have nouns. There are hundreds of them. Bear. Desk. Claw. Grass. The names are meaningless, just a label to put you in perspective.
This novella was very clever and rich in story line.
James Fenici, I have my eye on you.
“Because you’re mine. If I’m your first I’m going to be your last. So I need you to be sure.” He watches me as I process his words.
Another engrossing, intriguing, mind stimulating read from J.A. Huss.

I got a great deal when she bundled up her series. Honestly though, I'm looking forward to the spin off than the original one. Can I get away reading just those?

DeleteIn my strong opinion on this, nope! You gotta understand the whole thing weaving through that happens. There is the core story and then... Start from the start. Work your way through. I have put soooo many readers onto this series and once they start they can't stop.
Trust me on this Matey ;)
