Seventeen-year-old Raine Cooper has enough on her plate dealing with her father’s disappearance, her mother’s erratic behavior and the possibility of her boyfriend relocating. The last thing she needs is Torin St. James—a mysterious new neighbor with a wicked smile and uncanny way of reading her.
Raine is drawn to Torin’s dark sexiness against her better judgment, until he saves her life with weird marks and she realizes he is different. But by healing her, Torin changes something inside Raine. Now she can’t stop thinking about him. Half the time, she’s not sure whether to fall into his arms or run.
Scared, she sets out to find out what Torin is. But the closer she gets to the truth the more she uncovers something sinister about Torin. What Torin is goes back to an ancient mythology and Raine is somehow part of it. Not only is she and her friends in danger, she must choose a side, but the wrong choice will cost Raine her life.
Nothing can stop Raine Cooper when she wants something…
Raine finally knows that her gorgeous neighbor, Torin St. James, is a legend straight out of Norse mythology, and that her feelings for him are strong. Torin is crazy about Raine too, breaking the one rule he lives by: Never fall for a mortal. The problem is he no longer remembers her, his memories erased by Norns—Norse destiny deities—to punish her for defying them.
So Raine comes up with a plan…
She will make Torin forget his one rule a second time and fall in love with her all over again.
But she quickly learns that well-laid plans do not work when dealing with deities and supernatural beings. Desperate, Raine makes choices that could not only tear her and Torin further apart, but lead to the destruction of everything and everyone she loves.
BOOK REVIEW by Michelle:
I really dug this installment in the Runes series. I thought it was nicely paced, had lots of little twists thrown in.
I have to say, you can’t just skip to book # 2, you really do have to read # 1 as there are characters that you need to know about and story line. Immortals picks up from where Runes finished and there was an O.M.G finish to Runes you can’t miss. Plus you can’t miss your introduction to the cocky Torin.
I am going to be honest and say in Runes, Raine wasn’t my fave character, but she really grew on me very quickly in this installment. She has a lot she is dealing with and she really came through for me. She learnt from her mistakes with Eirik and Torin and the way she handled those two lads in her life.
Eirik now has his own relationship problems with the flirty Cora , among other things , while Raine is trying to get the forgetful Torin’s attention and hope he can regain his memory of his love for her.
Speaking of Torin St. James, the lad is a darn hottie. Losing his Raine brain didn’t stop him from coming through for the reader. He is one uber smexi lad.
LOVE HIM!!!
He is rather drool worthy.
Grab a bib.
He shows us that cocky side to himself again, which I really enjoyed. When he is fighting how he is feeling he always gets cocky and drops some great lines.

He shows us that cocky side to himself again, which I really enjoyed. When he is fighting how he is feeling he always gets cocky and drops some great lines.
“Just because I don’t like emotional nightmares with snarky little Mortal girls doesn’t mean I can’t take what I want when I want it and move on without losing sleep over it.”
“You’re a jackass.”
He laughed. “Now we’re getting somewhere.”
“I loathe you.”
“That’s even better...”
“It already did at ‘misunderstood’,” I shot back, getting behind the wheel and slamming the car door. He was the most annoying , shits-for-brains guy I’d ever met. Girlish crush? That was the last straw.
Torin shook his head and rubbed his finger across my lower lip. “You should come with a warning label, Freckles.”
But, when he is in lovey mode, oo yeah, he also drops some swoon worthy lines.
The more I woke up to the villain of the book, even though there really is more than one villain, you have to read to understand what I am saying, the more I would think I was right, then I wouldn’t, then I would...
Repeat and rinse.
I like how Ednah made me question my theories on the plot.
The biggest character whip lash I got was from Andris. In Runes I wasn’t sure if I liked him or not, but I was uber intrigued to know more. In Immortals he is the most loveable, endearing guy, just add some snark and a free relationship spirit. At the same time I can see something underneath, maybe a sadness that is hidden by the snark. I want him to be my bff.
He glanced back to his boy toy and indicated “call me” with his fingers. “Isn’t he beautiful?”
“Since when are you into guys?”
“Since always. Whatever catches my fancy is my latest craze, and he caught mine. He’s sweet, adorable, and very loving, and I need some TLC. “
“Half the time you say things just to get a reaction.”
He grinned. “I knew you got me.”
Ednah has all sorts of things going on in this instalment. She even had me getting a rather large lump in my throat.
A trio of Norns are doing what they do best and bringing riddles and temptation to Raine. They like to keep secrets and only release information that suits their needs.
Who can Raine really trust?
A line that had me laugh out loud.
“God bless PUBS,” she added, using her abbreviation for push-up bras.
I pronounced it pubes in my head the first time round until I read the rest of the sentence. HA!
A great page turner with awesome characters , and a plot that will keep you guessing.
Bring. On. Grimnirs # 3.
